The fatigue crack initiation process accounts for the main portion of the high-cycle fatigue (HCF) life. Although coated superalloys are well-known to be prone to surface microcracks, the influence of the coating-substrate microstructure on the damage mechanism during HCF of the coated single crystal (SX) superalloys remains unclear. In the current study, HCF failure and interrupted tests were conducted at 900 °C under a low applied maximum stress on a PtAl-coated third-generation SX superalloy using sheet specimens. The HCF crack initiation was investigated by analyzing the evolution of surface microcracks and coating-substrate microstructure. The results show that the surface microcracks nucleation and growth are controlled by the initial microstructure of the coating-substrate region and the oxidation process during the HCF crack initiation stage. The rapid nucleation and growth of the surface microcracks are promoted by grain boundaries (GBs) in the coating and the interdiffusion zone (IDZ). Comparatively, the surface microcracks are blunted by oxidation in the SX substrate due to the loss of GBs, leading to a slower microcrack growth. However, the surface microcracks can gradually grow further into the substrate by repeating the processes as follows: oxidation at the crack tip, formation of γ′-depleted region due to oxidation, recrystallization at the γ′-depleted region and cracking along the GBs in the recrystallized γ′-depleted region. Subsequently, the surface microcracks, which reach the critical size, propagate along the slip bands during the progressive propagation stage. This study will contribute to improve the HCF durability of the PtAl-coated SX superalloy.

The creep mechanism of a Co-based single-crystal (SX) superalloy at 760°C/800 MPa (∼90% yield strength) was revealed and differed from those of Re-containing Ni-based SX superalloys. Experimental alloy displays superior creep resistance in the early creep stage, likely due to the accumulation of matrix dislocations and W segregation-assisted shearing of γ′ phase by leading Shockley partial dislocations instead of Co and Cr segregation a SF ribbons in Re-containing Ni-based SX superalloys during the accelerating creep stage. Segregation-assisted local χ/η phase transformations at SFs stabilize and enhance SF interactions, contributing to the subsequent slow accelerating creep stage.

Abstract Background LncRNA has an effective value in many diseases, which has long been applied in the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of prostate cancer. This study focused on lncRNA PITPNA-AS1, and its diagnostic potential in prostate cancer has been explored. Methods The expression of PITPNA-AS1 and miR-129-5p in prostate cancer serum and sample cells was determined by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). The relationship between the expression of PITPNA-AS1 and clinicopathological parameters was considered. ROC curve prompted the diagnostic value of PITPNA-AS1. The effect of PITPNA-AS1 on prostate cancer cells was verified using vitro cells assay. Luciferase activity assay and RIP assay demonstrated the sponge relationship of PITPNA-AS1 to miR-129-5p. Results PITPNA-AS1 level was increased, while miR-129-5p was obviously decreased in prostate cancer. PITPNA-AS1 expression was associated with Gleason grade, lymph node metastasis and TNM stage in patients. The area under the curve (AUC) was 0.910, with high sensitivity and specificity. PITPNA-AS1 was elucidated to directly target miR-129-5p, whereas silencing PITPNA-AS1 negatively affected prostate cancer cell proliferation, migration and invasion. Intervention of miR-129-5p inhibitor reversed the effect of silencing PITPNA-AS1 on cells. Conclusions PITPNA-AS1 was relatively highly expressed in prostate cancer and mediated the pathophysiological process of patients, which may serve as a diagnostic indicator. Silencing of the PITPNA-AS1 sponge miR-129-5p inhibited the biological function of the cells, indicating that PITPNA-AS1 may represent a novel therapeutic target for prostate cancer.

Abstract Seismic imaging techniques play a crucial role in interpreting subsurface geological structures by analyzing the propagation and reflection of seismic waves. However, traditional methods face challenges in achieving high resolution due to theoretical constraints and computational costs. Leveraging recent advancements in deep learning, this study introduces a neural network framework that integrates Transformer and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architectures, enhanced through Adaptive Spatial Feature Fusion (ASFF), to achieve high-resolution seismic imaging. Our approach directly maps seismic data to reflection models, eliminating the need for post-processing low-resolution results. Through extensive numerical experiments, we demonstrate the outstanding ability of this method to accurately infer subsurface structures. Evaluation metrics including Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Correlation Coefficient (CC), and Structural Similarity Index (SSIM) emphasize the model's capacity to faithfully reconstruct subsurface features. Furthermore, noise injection experiments showcase the reliability of this efficient seismic imaging method, further underscoring the potential of deep learning in seismic imaging.

Abstract Objective To evaluate the antibacterial effectiveness of a combination of ε-poly-L-lysine (ε-PL), funme peptide (FP) as well as domiphen against oral pathogens, and assess the efficacy of a BOP® mouthwash supplemented with this combination in reducing halitosis and supragingival plaque in a clinical trial. Materials and methods The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of the compound against Fusobacterium nucleatum, Porphyromonas gingivalis, Streptococcus mutans, and Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans were determined by the gradient dilution method. Subsequently, the CCK-8 assay was used to detect the toxicity of mouthwash on human gingival fibroblastst, and the effectiveness in reducing halitosis and supragingival plaque of the mouthwash supplemented with the combination was analyzed by a randomized, double-blind, parallel-controlled clinical trial. Abstract Objective This study aims to analyze the molecular characteristics of the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) Omicron variant BA.2.76 in Jining City, China. Methods Whole-genome sequencing was performed on 87 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Evolutionary trees were constructed using bioinformatics software to analyze sequence homology, variant sites, N-glycosylation sites, and phosphorylation sites. Results All 87 SARS-CoV-2 whole-genome sequences were classified under the evolutionary branch of the Omicron variant BA.2.76. Their similarity to the reference strain Wuhan-Hu-1 ranged from 99.72 to 99.74%. In comparison to the reference strain Wuhan-Hu-1, the 87 sequences exhibited 77–84 nucleotide differences and 27 nucleotide deletions. A total of 69 amino acid variant sites, 9 amino acid deletions, and 1 stop codon mutation were identified across 18 proteins. Among them, the spike (S) protein exhibited the highest number of variant sites, and the ORF8 protein showed a Q27 stop mutation. Multiple proteins displayed variations in glycosylation and phosphorylation sites. Conclusion SARS-CoV-2 continues to evolve, giving rise to new strains with enhanced transmission, stronger immune evasion capabilities, and reduced pathogenicity. The application of high-throughput sequencing technologies in the epidemic prevention and control of COVID-19 provides crucial insights into the evolutionary and variant characteristics of the virus at the genomic level, thereby holding significant implications for the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract Gene editing is a growing gene engineering technique that allows accurate editing of a broad spectrum of gene‐regulated diseases to achieve curative treatment and also has the potential to be used as an adjunct to the conventional treatment of diseases. Gene editing technology, mainly based on clustered regularly interspaced palindromic repeats (CRISPR)–CRISPR‐associated protein systems, which is capable of generating genetic modifications in somatic cells, provides a promising new strategy for gene therapy for a wide range of human diseases. Currently, gene editing technology shows great application prospects in a variety of human diseases, not only in therapeutic potential but also in the construction of animal models of human diseases. This paper describes the application of gene editing technology in hematological diseases, solid tumors, immune disorders, ophthalmological diseases, and metabolic diseases; focuses on the therapeutic strategies of gene editing technology in sickle cell disease; provides an overview of the role of gene editing technology in the construction of animal models of human diseases; and discusses the limitations of gene editing technology in the treatment of diseases, which is intended to provide an important reference for the applications of gene editing technology in the human disease.

Tetrodotoxin (TTX) is a highly potent and widely distributed ion-channel marine neurotoxin; it has no specific antidote and poses a great risk to human health. Therefore, detecting and quantifying TTX to effectively implement prevention strategies is important for food safety. The development of novel and highly sensitive, highly specific, rapid, and simple techniques for trace TTX detection has attracted widespread attention. This review summarizes the latest advances in the detection and quantitative analysis of TTX, covering detection methods based on biological and cellular sensors, immunoassays and immunosensors, aptamers, and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. It further discusses the advantages and applications of various detection technologies developed for TTX and focuses on the frontier areas and development directions of TTX detection, providing relevant information for further investigations.

Abstract Background The gaps between estrogenic effect and its effect-active compounds exist frequently due to a large number of compounds that have been reported to induce this effect and the occurrence of pollutants in environments as mixtures. Therefore, identifying the estrogen-active compounds is of importance for environmental management and pollution treatment. In the current study, the effect-directed analysis (EDA) and non-targeted screening (NTS) were integrated to identify the estrogen-active compounds in soils of the rural area with different socioeconomic types (industrial, farming and plantation village) in Northeast China. Results The cytotoxicity results indicated that the industrial and farming villages showed cytotoxic effects. The detection rates of estrogenic effects for samples of winter and summer were 100% and 87%, respectively. Of which, the effects were found to be stronger in summer than in winter, with significant difference observed from the farming village (0.1–11.3 EEQ μg/kg dry weight). A total of 159 chemicals were detected by NTS. By integrating EDA, triphenyl phosphate (TPhP) and indole were successfully identified from a raw sample and its fraction, explaining up to 19.31% of the estrogen activity. Conclusions The present study demonstrates that the successful identification of seven estrogen-active compounds in rural areas of northeastern China can be achieved through the combination of effect-directed analysis (EDA) and non-targeted screening (NTS). This finding is beneficial for risk monitoring and pollution management.

Abstract Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a highly metastatic and heterogeneous type of breast cancer with poor outcomes. Precise, non-invasive methods for diagnosis, monitoring and prognosis of TNBC are particularly challenging due to a paucity of TNBC biomarkers. Glycans on extracellular vesicles (EVs) hold the promise as valuable biomarkers, but conventional methods for glycan analysis are not feasible in clinical practice. Here, we report that a lectin-based thermophoretic assay (EVLET) streamlines vibrating membrane filtration (VMF) and thermophoretic amplification, allowing for rapid, sensitive, selective and cost-effective EV glycan profiling in TNBC plasma. A pilot cohort study shows that the EV glycan signature reaches 91% accuracy for TNBC detection and 96% accuracy for longitudinal monitoring of TNBC therapeutic response. Moreover, we demonstrate the potential of EV glycan signature for predicting TNBC progression. Our EVLET system lays the foundation for non-invasive cancer management by EV glycans.

The creep performance at low temperature and high stress is one crucial property for the single crystal superalloys widely used for turbine blades. In this study, the creep behavior of a CoNi-based single crystal superalloy with super-high γ′ volume fraction (Vγ′ = ∼90%) was investigated at 760 °C/550 MPa based on microstructural (γ and γ′ phases) and deformation substructural (dislocations, anti-phase boundaries (APBs) and stacking faults (SFs)) analyses to reveal its creep mechanism under low temperature/high stress conditions. The super-high Vγ′ contributes to the rapid transformation of creep mechanisms from the matrix dislocation movement in the initial decelerating stage to the APB-coupled dislocation pairs and their evolving non-planar SF ribbons inside γʹ precipitates during the accelerating stage. In the following second decelerating stage, the interactions between SFs and APBs improve the deformation resistance of γ′ precipitates and decrease the creep rate. Subsequently, the high density of APBs is believed to play a significant role in microstructural stability and promotes the accumulation of matrix dislocations, which is responsible for the steady and final accelerating stages. Appropriate Vγ′ and increasing the APB energy are assumed to improve the creep resistance of CoNi-based single crystal superalloys by enhancing the strengthening effect of dislocation accumulation in γ matrix and critical shear stress of γ′ phase.

Introduction: Growing evidence has shown the correlation between periodontitis and atherosclerosis, while our knowledge on the pathogenesis of periodontitis-promoting atherosclerosis is far from sufficient. Objectives: Illuminate the pathogenic effects of Fusobacterium nucleatum (F. nucleatum) on intracellular lipid deposition in THP-1-derived macrophages and elucidate the underlying pathogenic mechanism of how F. nucleatum promoting atherosclerosis. Methods and results: F. nucleatum was frequently detected in different kinds of atherosclerotic plaques and its abundance was positively correlated with the proportion of macrophages. In vitro assays showed F. nucleatum could adhere to and invade THP-1 cells, and survive continuously in macrophages for 24 h. F. nucleatum stimulation alone could significantly promote cellular inflammation, lipid uptake and inhibit lipid outflow. The dynamic gene expression of THP-1 cells demonstrated that F. nucleatum could time-serially induce the over-expression of multiple inflammatory related genes and activate NF-κB, MAPK and PI3K-AKT signaling pathways. The exoprotein of F. nucleatum, D-galactose-binding protein (Gbp), acted as one of the main pathogenic proteins to interact with the Cyclophilin A (CypA) of THP-1 cells and induced the activation of the NF- κB, MAPK and PI3K-AKT signaling pathways. Furthermore, use of six candidate drugs targeting to the key proteins in NF- κB, MAPK and PI3K-AKT pathways could dramatically decrease F. nucleatum induced inflammation and lipid deposition in THP-1 cells. Conclusions: This study suggests that the periodontal pathogen F. nucleatum can activate macrophage PI3K-AKT/MAPK/NF-κB signal pathways, promotes inflammation, enhances cholesterol uptake, reduces lipid excretion, and promotes lipid deposition, which may be one of its main strategies promoting the development of atherosclerosis.

Micropores and elemental segregation are detrimental to the high-temperature properties of nickel-based single-crystal (SX) superalloys and hot isostatic pressing (HIP) treatment has been considered as an appropriate method to reduce micropores and elemental segregation. In this study, the effect of a two-step HIP treatment on the solution-treated nickel-based SX superalloy was investigated. An elemental uphill diffusion with the micropores reduction was discovered during HIP treatment and caused the elemental segregation of Al, Cr and Ta at the dendritic scale. It indicates that the HIP treatment is not always beneficial for alloy homogenization. The results show that the first-step HIP treatment could promote the uphill diffusion and cause the elemental segregation with the significant micropores reduction. The second-step HIP treatment could decrease the elemental segregation with further micropores reduction. During subsequent heat treatments, the elemental segregation caused by HIP treatment could be basically eliminated with a slight increase of micropores. During HIP treatment, the micropores reduction and elemental segregation were correlated with the HIP temperature and pressure. This study will provide the supports for controlling micropores and homogenization of nickel-based SX superalloys.

Abstract Background and objective The pathogenesis of coronal suture craniosynostosis is often attributed to the dysregulated cellular dynamics, particularly the excessive proliferation and abnormal osteogenic differentiation of suture cells. Despite its clinical significance, the molecular mechanims of this condition remain inadequately understood. This study is dedicated to exploring the influence of the Periostin/Bone Morphogenetic Protein 1 (BMP1) axis on the growth and osteogenic maturation of Suture Mesenchymal Stem Cells (SMSCs), which are pivotal in suture homeostasis. Methods Neonatal TWIST Basic Helix-Loop-Helix Transcription Factor 1 heterozygous (TWIST1+/−) mice, aged one day, were subjected to adenoviral vector-mediated Periostin upregulation. To modulate Periostin/BMP1 levels in SMSCs, we employed siRNA and pcDNA 3.1 vectors. Histological and molecular characterizations, including hematoxylin and eosin staining, Western blot, and immunohistochemistry were employed to study suture closure phenotypes and protein expression patterns. Cellular assays, encompassing colony formation, 5-ethynyl-2'deoxyuridine, and wound healing tests were conducted to analyze SMSC proliferation and migration. Osteogenic differentiation was quantified using Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) and Alizarin Red S (ARS) staining, while protein markers of proliferation and differentiation were evaluated by Western blotting. The direct interaction between Periostin and BMP1 was validated through co-immunoprecipitation assays. Results In the TWIST1+/− model, an upregulation of Periostin coupled with a downregulation of BMP1 was observed. Augmenting Periostin expression mitigated craniosynostosis. In vitro, overexpression of Periostin or BMP1 knockdown suppressed SMSC proliferation, migration, and osteogenic differentiation. Periostin knockdown manifested an inverse biological impact. Notably, the suppressive influence of Periostin overexpression on SMSCs was effectively counteracted by upregulating BMP1. There was a direct interaction between Periostin and BMP1. Conclusion These findings underscore the significance of the Periostin/BMP1 axis in regulating craniosynostosis and SMSC functions, providing new insights into the molecular mechanisms of craniosynostosis and potential targets for therapeutic intervention.

The fractional sine series (FRSS) and the fractional cosine series (FRCS) were defined. Three types of discrete convolution operations for FRCS and FRSS were introduced, along with a detailed investigation into their corresponding convolution theorems. The interrelationship between these convolution operations was also discussed. Additionally, as an application of the presented results, two forms of discrete convolution equations based on the proposed convolution theorems were examined, resulting in explicit solutions for these equations. Furthermore, numerical simulations were provided to demonstrate that our proposed solution can be easily implemented with low computational complexity.

Abstract Background Ras gene mutation and/or overexpression are drivers in the progression of cancers, including colorectal cancer. Blocking the Ras signaling has become a significant strategy for cancer therapy. Previously, we constructed a recombinant scFv, RGD-p21Ras-scFv by linking RGD membrane-penetrating peptide gene with the anti-p21Ras scFv gene. Here, we expressed prokaryotically RGD-p21Ras-scFv on a pilot scale, then investigated the anti-tumor effect and the mechanism of blocking Ras signaling. Methods The E. coli bacteria which could highly express RGD-p21Ras-scFv was screened and grown in 100 L fermentation tank to produce RGD-p21Ras-scFv on optimized induced expression conditions. The scFv was purified from E. coli bacteria using His Ni-NTA column. ELISA was adopted to test the immunoreactivity of RGD-p21Ras-scFv against p21Ras proteins, and the IC50 of RGD-p21Ras-scFv was analyzed by CCK-8. Immunofluorescence colocalization and pull-down assays were used to determine the localization and binding between RGD-p21Ras-scFv and p21Ras. The interaction forces between RGD-p21Ras-scFv and p21Ras after binding were analyzed by molecular docking, and the stability after binding was determined by molecular dynamics simulations. p21Ras-GTP interaction was detected by Ras pull-down. Changes in the MEK-ERK /PI3K-AKT signaling paths downstream of Ras were detected by WB assays. The anti-tumor activity of RGD-p21Ras-scFv was investigated by nude mouse xenograft models. Results The technique of RGD-p21Ras-scFv expression on a pilot scale was established. The wet weight of the harvested bacteria was 31.064 g/L, and 31.6 mg RGD-p21Ras-scFv was obtained from 1 L of bacterial medium. The purity of the recombinant antibody was above 85%, we found that the prepared on a pilot scale RGD-p21Ras-scFv could penetrate the cell membrane of colon cancer cells and bind to p21Ras, then led to reduce of p21Ras-GTP (active p21Ras). The phosphorylation of downstream effectors MEK-ERK /PI3K-AKT was downregulated. In vivo antitumor activity assays showed that the RGD-p21Ras-scFv inhibited the proliferation of colorectal cancer cell lines. Conclusion RGD-p21Ras-scFv prokaryotic expressed on pilot-scale could inhibited Ras-driven colorectal cancer growth by partially blocking p21Ras-GTP and might be able to be a hidden therapeutic antibody for treating RAS-driven tumors.

Intestinal organoids are a three-dimensional cell culture model derived from colon or pluripotent stem cells. Intestinal organoids constructed in vitro strongly mimic the colon epithelium in cell composition, tissue architecture, and specific functions, replicating the colon epithelium in an in vitro culture environment. As an emerging biomedical technology, organoid technology has unique advantages over traditional two-dimensional culture in preserving parental gene expression and mutation, cell function, and biological characteristics. It has shown great potential in the research and treatment of colorectal diseases. Organoid technology has been widely applied in research on colorectal topics, including intestinal tumors, inflammatory bowel disease, infectious diarrhea, and intestinal injury regeneration. This review focuses on the application of organoid technology in colorectal diseases, including the basic principles and preparation methods of organoids, and explores the pathogenesis of and personalized treatment plans for various colorectal diseases to provide a valuable reference for organoid technology development and application.

Abstract The impact of external factors on the human gut microbiota and how gut microbes contribute to human health is an intriguing question. Here, the gut microbiome of 3,224 individuals (496 with serum metabolome) with 109 variables is studied. Multiple analyses reveal that geographic factors explain the greatest variance of the gut microbiome and the similarity of individuals’ gut microbiome is negatively correlated with their geographic distance. Main food components are the most important factors that mediate the impact of host habitats on the gut microbiome. Diet and gut microbes collaboratively contribute to the variation of serum metabolites, and correlate to the increase or decrease of certain clinical indexes. Specifically, systolic blood pressure is lowered by vegetable oil through increasing the abundance of Blautia and reducing the serum level of 1‐palmitoyl‐2‐palmitoleoyl‐GPC (16:0/16:1), but it is reduced by fruit intake through increasing the serum level of Blautia improved threonate. Besides, aging‐related clinical indexes are also closely correlated with the variation of gut microbes and serum metabolites. In this study, the linkages of geographic locations, diet, the gut microbiome, serum metabolites, and physiological indexes in a Chinese population are characterized. It is proved again that gut microbes and their metabolites are important media for external factors to affect human health.

Abstract Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising candidates for room‐temperature hydrogen storage materials after modification, thanks to their ability to chemisorb hydrogen. However, the hydrogen adsorption strength of these modified MOFs remains insufficient to meet the capacity and safety requirements of hydrogen storage systems. To address this challenge, a highly defective framework material known as de‐MgMOF is prepared by gently annealing Mg‐MOF‐74. This material retains some of the crystal properties of the original Mg‐MOF‐74 and exhibits exceptional hydrogen storage capacity at above‐ambient temperatures. The MgO5 knots around linker vacancies in de‐MgMOF can adsorb a significant amount of dissociated and nondissociated hydrogen, with adsorption enthalpies ranging from −22.7 to −43.6 kJ mol−1, indicating a strong chemisorption interaction. By leveraging a spillover catalyst of Pt, the material achieves a reversible hydrogen storage capacity of 2.55 wt.% at 160 °C and 81 bar. Additionally, this material offers rapid hydrogen uptake/release, stable cycling, and convenient storage capabilities. A comprehensive techno‐economic analysis demonstrates that this material outperforms many other hydrogen storage materials at the system level for on‐board applications.

Abstract Periodontitis development is strongly associated with the succession of the oral microbiome. However, the knowledge about the succession of the oral microbiome in the development of periodontitis remains insufficient. In the present study, an analysis was conducted on the succession of tongue back, the saliva (Sal) microbiome, and gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) from healthy individuals and patients with mild (CPL), moderate (CPM), severe chronic (CPH), and generalized aggressive periodontitis (GAgP). The composition and structure of the oral microbiome gradually changed with the increasing severity of periodontitis, among which GCF showed the highest correlation with periodontitis. With an ecological preference, pathogens in the mouth varied with the development of periodontitis. In healthy and CPL patients, Sal‐derived microorganisms accounted for a large proportion of GCF but exhibited a decrease in patients with CPM, CPH, and GAgP. Permutation and time course sequencing analysis revealed that a variety of microorganisms changed with the severity of periodontitis. A majority of these microorganisms are closely related to clinical periodontal indices. Ecological analysis suggested that the composition of oral microbial communities at different stages of periodontitis is controlled by random processes. The comparison of microbial interaction networks demonstrated that a series of key microorganisms drive oral health to severe periodontitis. In this study, the relationship between the succession process of the oral microbiota and the development of periodontitis was revealed.

Abstract Objective The prevalence of early-onset colon cancer (EOCC) among individuals below the age of 50 has shown a marked upward trend in recent years. The embryology, clinical symptoms, incidence, molecular pathways, and oncologic outcomes differ between right-sided and left-sided colon cancers. However, the differences have not been fully researched in EOCC. Our study aims to develop and validate prognostic nomograms predicting overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) for EOCC in different tumor locations based on the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. Methods Using the SEER database, a total of 5,588 patients with EOCC were extracted and divided into development and validation cohorts in a random allocation ratio of 7:3 across three groups. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were performed to identify independent prognostic factors influencing OS and CSS outcomes. These factors were then utilized to construct nomogram models. The prognostic capabilities of the three models were assessed through various evaluation metrics, including the concordance index (C-index), receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, calibration curves, decision curve analysis (DCA), and validation cohorts respectively. Additionally, survival curves of the low- and high-risk groups were calculated using the Kaplan–Meier method together with the log-rank test. Results Significant differences in clinical features were observed between right-sided and left-sided EOCCs, particularly in terms of OS (52 months vs 54 months) as demonstrated by Kaplan–Meier curves. Transverse-sided EOCCs exhibited clinical characteristics similar to right-sided EOCCs, suggesting a potential shared tumor microenvironment and therapeutic considerations. Advanced stage, liver metastasis, poor grade, elevated pretreatment carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) level, chemotherapy, and perineural invasion were identified as independent prognostic factors across all three tumor locations and were incorporated into the nomogram model. Nomograms were constructed to predict the probability of 3- and 5-year OS and CSS. The C-index and calibration plots showed that the established nomograms had good consistency between actual clinical observations and predicted outcomes. ROC curves with calculated area under the curve (AUC) values exceeded 0.8 for all three groups in both the development and validation cohorts, indicating robust predictive performance for OS and CSS. Furthermore, decision curve analysis (DCA) plots revealed a threshold probability range of 0.1 to 0.9, within which the nomogram model exhibited maximum benefit. Kaplan–Meier curves exhibited significant differences between the low- and high-risk groups in EOCC for all three tumor locations in OS and CSS, further validating the prognostic value of the nomogram models. Conclusions We successfully developed three precise nomogram models for EOCCs in different tumor locations, providing valuable support for clinicians in guiding clinical treatments and facilitating further prospective follow-up studies.

Abstract Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are a heterogeneous cell population that plays a crucial role in remodeling the tumor microenvironment (TME). Here, through the integrated analysis of spatial and single-cell transcriptomics data across six common cancer types, we identified four distinct functional subgroups of CAFs and described their spatial distribution characteristics. Additionally, the analysis of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data from three additional common cancer types and two newly generated scRNA-seq datasets of rare cancer types, namely epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma (EMC) and mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC), expanded our understanding of CAF heterogeneity. Cell–cell interaction analysis conducted within the spatial context highlighted the pivotal roles of matrix CAFs (mCAFs) in tumor angiogenesis and inflammatory CAFs (iCAFs) in shaping the immunosuppressive microenvironment. In patients with breast cancer (BRCA) undergoing anti-PD-1 immunotherapy, iCAFs demonstrated heightened capacity in facilitating cancer cell proliferation, promoting epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and contributing to the establishment of an immunosuppressive microenvironment. Furthermore, a scoring system based on iCAFs showed a significant correlation with immune therapy response in melanoma patients. Lastly, we provided a web interface ( https://chenxisd.shinyapps.io/pancaf/ ) for the research community to investigate CAFs in the context of pan-cancer.

Multiobjective programming refers to a mathematical problem that requires the simultaneous optimization of multiple independent yet interrelated objective functions when solving a problem. It is widely used in various fields, such as engineering design, financial investment, environmental planning, and transportation planning. Research on the theory and application of convex functions and their generalized convexity in multiobjective programming helps us understand the essence of optimization problems, and promotes the development of optimization algorithms and theories. In this paper, we firstly introduces new classes of generalized (F,α,ρ,d)−I functions for semi-preinvariant convex multiobjective programming. Secondly, based on these generalized functions, we derive several sufficient optimality conditions for a feasible solution to be an efficient or weakly efficient solution. Finally, we prove weak duality theorems for mixed-type duality.

Although the theory of ecosystem services (ESs) is important for guiding land-use planning, knowledge of ESs trade-offs and supply–demand mechanisms is still lacking, and the characteristics of the correlation between the size of trade-offs and the balance between supply and demand along the precipitation gradient have not yet been clarified. In order to supplement this area of knowledge of ESs, we selected 30 small watersheds in high-, medium- and low-precipitation areas as study units. A biophysical model and socio-economic data were used to calculate supply and demand for carbon sequestration, soil conservation and water yield. Redundancy analysis and regression analysis were used to study the ESs trade-offs, the supply–demand dynamics, and the characteristics of their correlation. The results were as follows. (1) The supply and balance between supply and demand of the three ESs, the trade-off between carbon sequestration and water yield and the trade-off between soil conservation and water yield trended downwards from the high-precipitation area to the medium-precipitation area to the low-precipitation area. (2) The primary factors influencing balance between supply and demand with regard to carbon sequestration in high-, medium- and low-precipitation areas were population density and soil organic-matter content, and the size of the conditional effects were greater than 53%. The dominant factor affecting the balance between supply and demand with regard to soil conservation in the three precipitation areas was slope gradient, and the conditional effect was greater than 40%. The most significant determinants of balance between supply and demand with regard to water yield in the three precipitation areas were grassland area, forest area and precipitation, and the conditional effects were greater than 22%. (3) The most significant determinants of the trade-off between carbon sequestration and water yield in high-, medium- and low-precipitation areas were forest, soil organic-matter content and population density, and the conditional effects were all greater than 45%; the primary factors affecting the trade-off between soil conservation and water yield in high-, medium- and low-precipitation areas were grassland and slope gradient, and the conditional effects were all greater than 24%. (4) The relationship between the balance between supply and demand and trade-off size often followed a quadratic function; the next-most-common relationship was a monotonous nonlinear response, and a linear response relationship was relatively rare. This study revealed the factors influencing balance between supply and demand and trade-offs with regard to ESs and the characteristics of their correlations in areas with different degrees of precipitation, which provided a new idea for the synchronous regulation of ESs in the context of conflicts and supply–demand imbalance.

The convolution integral equations are very important in optics and signal processing domain. In this paper, fractional mixed-weighted convolution is defined based on the fractional cosine transform; the corresponding convolution theorem is achieved. The properties of fractional mixed-weighted convolution and Young’s type theorem are also explored. Based on the fractional mixed-weighted convolution and fractional cosine transform, two kinds of convolution integral equations are considered, the explicit solutions of fractional convolution integral equations are obtained, and the computational complexity of solutions are also analyzed.

ABSTRACTThe microbiota plays an important role in both hypertension (HTN) and periodontitis (PD), and PD exacerbates the development of HTN by oral and gut microbiota. Previous studies have focused on exploring the importance of the bacteriome in HTN and PD but overlooked the impact of the virome, which is also a member of the microbiota. We collected 180 samples of subgingival plaques, saliva, and feces from a cohort of healthy subjects (nHTNnPD), subjects with HTN (HTNnPD) or PD (PDnHTN), and subjects with both HTN and PD (HTNPD). We performed metagenomic sequencing to assess the roles of the oral and gut viromes in HTN and PD. The HTNnPD, PDnHTN, and HTNPD groups all showed significantly distinct beta diversity from the nHTNnPD group in saliva. We analyzed alterations in oral and gut viral composition in HTN and/or PD and identified significantly changed viruses in each group. Many viruses across three sites were significantly associated with blood pressure and other clinical parameters. Combined with these clinical associations, we found that Gillianvirus in subgingival plaques was negatively associated with HTN and that Torbevirus in saliva was positively associated with HTN. We found that Pepyhexavirus from subgingival plaques was indicated to be transferred to the gut. We finally evaluated viral-bacterial transkingdom interactions and found that viruses and bacteria may cooperate to affect HTN and PD. Correspondingly, HTN and PD may synergize to improve communications between viruses and bacteria.IMPORTANCEPeriodontitis (PD) and hypertension (HTN) are both highly prevalent worldwide and cause serious adverse outcomes. Increasing studies have shown that PD exacerbates HTN by oral and gut microbiota. Previous studies have focused on exploring the importance of the bacteriome in HTN and PD but overlooked the impact of the virome, even though viruses are common inhabitants in humans. Alterations in oral and gut viral diversity and composition contribute to diseases. The present study, for the first time, profiled the oral and gut viromes in HTN and/or PD. We identified key indicator viruses and their clinical implications in HTN and/or PD. We also investigated interactions between viruses and bacteria. This work improved the overall understanding of the viromes in HTN and PD, providing vital insights into the role of the virome in the development of HTN and PD.

Abstract Photothermal therapy (PTT) is a highly clinical application promising cancer treatment strategy with safe, convenient surgical procedures and excellent therapeutic efficacy on superficial tumors. However, a single PTT is difficult to eliminate tumor cells completely, and tumor recurrence and metastasis are prone to occur in the later stage. Chemo-photothermal synergistic therapy can conquer the shortcomings by further killing residual tumor cells after PTT through systemic chemotherapy. Nevertheless, chemotherapy drugs' extreme toxicity is also a problematic issue to be solved, such as anthracycline-induced cardiotoxicity. Herein, we selected polydopamine nanoparticles (PDA) as the carrier of the chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin (DOX) to construct a versatile PDA(DOX) nanoplatform for chemo-photothermal synergistic therapy against breast cancer and simultaneously attenuated DOX-induced cardiotoxicity (DIC). The excellent photothermal properties of PDA were used to achieve the thermal ablation of tumors. DOX carried out chemotherapy to kill residual and occult distant tumors. Furthermore, the PDA(DOX) nanoparticles significantly alleviate DIC, which benefits from PDA's excellent antioxidant enzyme activity. The experimental data of the chemotherapy groups showed that the results of the PDA(DOX) group were much better than the DOX group. This study not only effectively inhibits cancer but tactfully attenuates DIC, bringing a new perspective into synergistic therapy against breast cancer. Graphical Abstract

Convolution plays a pivotal role in the domains of signal processing and optics. This paper primarily focuses on studying the weighted convolution for quaternion linear canonical cosine transform (QLCcT) and its application in multiplicative filter analysis. Firstly, we propose QLCcT by combining quaternion algebra with linear canonical cosine transform (LCcT), which extends LCcT to Hamiltonian quaternion algebra. Secondly, we introduce weighted convolution and correlation operations for QLCcT, accompanied by their corresponding theorems. We also explore the properties of QLCcT. Thirdly, we utilize these proposed convolution structures to analyze multiplicative filter models that offer lower computational complexity compared to existing methods based on quaternion linear canonical transform (QLCT). Additionally, we discuss the rationale behind studying such transforms using quaternion functions as an illustrative example.

Background: Adopting a healthy lifestyle during childhood could improve physical and mental health outcomes in adulthood and reduce relevant disease burdens. However, the lifestyles of children with mental, behavioral, and developmental disorders (MBDDs) remains under-described within the literature of public health field. This study aimed to examine adherence to 24-hour movement guidelines among children with MBDDs compared to population norms and whether these differences are affected by demographic characteristics. Methods: Data were from the 2016–2020 National Survey of Children's Health—A national, population-based, cross-sectional study. We used the data of 119,406 children aged 6–17 years, which included 38,571 participants with at least 1 MBDD and 80,835 without. Adherence to the 24-hour movement guidelines was measured using parent-reported physical activity, screen time, and sleep duration. Results: Among children with MBDDs, 20.3%, 37.0%, 60.7%, and 77.3% met the physical activity, screen time, sleep, and at least 1 of the 24-hour movement guidelines. These rates were lower than those in children without MBDDs (22.8%, 46.2%, 66.7%, and 83.4%, respectively; all p < 0.001). Children with MBDDs were less likely to meet these guidelines (odds ratio (OR) = 1.21, 95% confidence interval (95%CI): 1.13–1.30; OR = 1.37, 95%CI: 1.29–1.45; OR = 1.29, 95%CI: 1.21–1.37; OR = 1.45, 95%CI: 1.35–1.56) than children without MBDDs. Children with emotional disorders had the highest odds of not meeting these guidelines (OR = 1.43, 95%CI: 1.29–1.57; OR = 1.48, 95%CI: 1.37–1.60; OR = 1.49, 95%CI: 1.39–1.61; OR = 1.72, 95%CI: 1.57–1.88) in comparison to children with other MBDDs. Among children aged 12–17 years, the difference in proportion of meeting physical activity and screen time guidelines for children with vs. children without MBDD was larger than that among children aged 6–11 years. Furthermore, the above difference of meeting physical activity guidelines in ethnic minority children was smaller than that in white children. Conclusion: Children with MBDDs were less likely to meet individual or combined 24-hour movement guidelines than children without MBDDs. In educational and clinical settings, the primary focus should be on increasing physical activity and limiting screen time in children aged 12–17 years who have MBDDs; and specifically for white children who have MBDDs, increasing physical activity may help.

The galloping of the catenary positive feeder and sand deposition along the railway are very serious of LanzhouUrumqi high-speed railway in the gale areas. In this paper, the second wind-break wall was set up at different positions of the windward side embankment, and the flow field model of the computational domain was established based on the theory of hydrodynamics. The aerodynamic characteristics of the positive feeder and the change of sand deposition along the railway under the condition of double wind-break walls were analyzed. The results show that the range of wind speed growth area at the positive feeder is significantly reduced after the second wind-break wall was set up under the embankment, and the change of the height and position of the wind-break wall has an important influence on the aerodynamic characteristics of the positive feeder. When the second wind-break wall was 0.5 m away from the embankment, the aerodynamic coefficient of the positive feeder is relatively low. At the same time, with the increase of the height of the wind-break wall, the lift and drag coefficient of the positive feeder does not show a continuous decreasing trend. Therefore, on the basis of considering the economic cost and through comparative analysis, the second wind-break wall was designed to be 0.5 m away from the embankment and 1 m height. It can not only restrain the galloping of the positive feeder to a certain extent, but also effectively alleviate the hazards of sand deposition on the railway, thus greatly improving the stability of train operation safety in gale areas.

Abstract Cardiovascular disease (CVD) significantly impacts global society since it is the leading cause of death and disability worldwide, and extracellular vesicle (EV)‐based therapies have been extensively investigated. EV delivery is involved in mediating the progression of CVDs and has great potential to be biomarker and therapeutic molecular carrier. Besides, EVs from stem cells and cardiac cells can effectively protect the heart from various pathologic conditions, and then serve as an alternative treatment for CVDs. Moreover, the research of using EVs as delivery carriers of therapeutic molecules, membrane engineering modification of EVs, or combining EVs with biomaterials further improves the application potential of EVs in clinical treatment. However, currently there are only a few articles summarizing the application of EVs in CVDs. This review provides an overview of the role of EVs in the pathogenesis and diagnosis of CVDs. It also focuses on how EVs promote the repair of myocardial injury and therapeutic methods of CVDs. In conclusion, it is of great significance to review the research on the application of EVs in the treatment of CVDs, which lays a foundation for further exploration of the role of EVs, and clarifies the prospect of EVs in the treatment of myocardial injury.

Although bivalirudin has been recently made available for purchase in China, large-scale analyses on the safety profile of bivalirudin among Chinese patients is lacking. Thus, this study aimed to compare the safety profile of bivalirudin and heparin as anticoagulants in Chinese ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). A total of 1063 STEMI patients undergoing PCI and receiving bivalirudin (n=424, bivalirudin group) or heparin (n=639, heparin group) as anticoagulants were retrospectively enrolled. The net adverse clinical events (NACEs) within 30 days after PCI were recorded, including major adverse cardiac and cerebral events (MACCEs) and bleeding events (bleeding academic research consortium (BARC) grades 2-5 (BARC 2-5)). The incidences of NACEs (10.1 vs 15.6%) (P=0.010), BARC 2-5 bleeding events (5.2 vs 10.3%) (P=0.003), and BARC grades 3-5 (BARC 3-5) bleeding events (2.1 vs 5.5%) (P=0.007) were lower in the bivalirudin group compared to the heparin group, whereas general MACCEs incidence (8.9 vs 6.4%) (P=0.131) and each category of MACCEs (all P>0.05) did not differ between two groups. Furthermore, the multivariate logistic analyses showed that bivalirudin (vs heparin) was independently correlated with lower risk of NACEs (OR=0.508, P=0.002), BARC 2-5 bleeding events (OR=0.403, P=0.001), and BARC 3-5 bleeding events (OR=0.452, P=0.042); other independent risk factors for NACEs, MACCEs, or BARC bleeding events included history of diabetes mellitus, emergency operation, multiple lesional vessels, stent length >33.0 mm, and higher CRUSADE score (all P

Background: Oxidative stress and inflammatory responses are critical factors in calcium oxalate (CaOx) crystal-induced renal injury. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are usually produced in the cytoplasm and mitochondria and trigger the priming and activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome, thereby regulating cytokines and inflammation. Polydatin is a plant rhizome extract with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antitumor effects. However, it remains not clear whether and how these pathophysiological processes exists in CaOx crystal-induced renal inflammatory injury. Methods: Here, we measured the expression of the NLRP3 inflammasome, IL-18, IL-1β, intracellular and mitochondrial ROS (mtROS) levels and relevant morphological changes in treated renal tubular epithelial cells (TECs) and stone-forming rats. The study further explored the action of intracellular ROS and mtROS on these inflammatory damage, and the beneficial effects and pathway of polydatin. Results: We verified that CaOx crystal-induced cytoplasmic ROS and mtROS upregulation promoted the priming and activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome, thereby stimulating IL-18/1β maturation and activation. Polydatin can relieve oxidative stress and inflammatory damage by decreasing ROS. We further demonstrated that mtROS is the main target for polydatin to exert the NLRP3 inflammasome-regulating function. The inhibition of mtROS can effectively relieve the inflammatory damage to TECs and kidney caused by CaOx crystal. Conclusion: These findings provide new insight into the relationship between mitochondrial damage and inflammation in nephrolithiasis and show that polydatin-mediated anti-inflammatory and antioxidative protection is a therapeutic strategy for, but not limited to, crystalline nephropathy.

Abstract Fusobacterium nucleatum (F. nucleatum) is an early pathogenic colonizer in periodontitis, but the host response to infection with this pathogen remains unclear. In this study, we built an F. nucleatum infectious model with human periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) and showed that F. nucleatum could inhibit proliferation, and facilitate apoptosis, ferroptosis, and inflammatory cytokine production in a dose-dependent manner. The F. nucleatum adhesin FadA acted as a proinflammatory virulence factor and increased the expression of interleukin(IL)-1β, IL-6 and IL-8. Further study showed that FadA could bind with PEBP1 to activate the Raf1-MAPK and IKK-NF-κB signaling pathways. Time-course RNA-sequencing analyses showed the cascade of gene activation process in PDLSCs with increasing durations of F. nucleatum infection. NFκB1 and NFκB2 upregulated after 3 h of F. nucleatum-infection, and the inflammatory-related genes in the NF-κB signaling pathway were serially elevated with time. Using computational drug repositioning analysis, we predicted and validated that two potential drugs (piperlongumine and fisetin) could attenuate the negative effects of F. nucleatum-infection. Collectively, this study unveils the potential pathogenic mechanisms of F. nucleatum and the host inflammatory response at the early stage of F. nucleatum infection.

In the routine inspection process of railway catenary systems, the primary task is to find out the locations of various components accurately. The complex composition of the components in the catenary system and their large dimensional differences make the inspection of small components considerably difficult. Aiming at the problem of the difficulty in locating small components, a new locating method, named asymmetrically effective decoupled head-you only look once (AED-YOLO), for locating small components of the catenary has been proposed in this study. In this method, firstly, a small object detection layer has been added to improve the detection accuracy of the small-sized components such as fastener nuts and bracing wire. Secondly, to reduce missed and false detection errors of small components, the improved bidirectional feature pyramid network with high-order spatial interactions and recursive gated convolution has been used to fuse the features of different scales to further enhance the ability to detect small objects. Finally, an asymmetrically effective decoupled head has been proposed using different decoupled branches to decouple the classification and localization processes, thus further reducing the error in small-sized object classification and location. Experiments performed on the railway catenary dataset collected on-site show that the proposed localization method can efficiently improve detection accuracy, achieving a mean average precision of 93.5%. Thus, compared to the other methods, the proposed method can accurately locate small-sized components.

Introduction: Considerable evidence has linked periodontitis (PD) to hypertension (HTN), but the nature behind this connection is unclear. Dysbiosis of oral microbiota leading to PD is known to aggravate different systematic diseases, but the alteration of oral microbiota in HTN and their impacts on blood pressure (BP) remains to be discovered. Objectives: To characterize the alterations of oral and gut microbiota and their roles in HTN. Methods: We performed a cross-sectional (95 HTN participants and 39 controls) and a 6-month follow-up study (52 HTN participants and 26 controls) to analyze the roles of oral and gut microbiota in HTN. Saliva, subgingival plaques, and feces were collected for 16S rRNA gene sequencing or metagenomic analysis. C57BL/6J mice were pretreated with antibiotics to deplete gut microbiota, and then transplanted with human saliva by gavage to test the impacts of abnormal oral-gut microbial transmission on HTN. Results: BP in participants with PD was higher than no PD in both cross-sectional and follow-up cohort. Relative abundances of 14 salivary genera, 15 subgingival genera and 10 gut genera significantly altered in HTN and those of 7 salivary genera, 12 subgingival genera and 6 gut genera significantly correlated with BP. Sixteen species under 5 genera were identified as oral-gut transmitters, illustrating the presence of oral-gut microbial transmission in HTN. Veillonella was a frequent oral-gut transmitter stably enriched in HTN participants of both cross-sectional and follow-up cohorts. Saliva from HTN participants increased BP in hypertensive mice. Human saliva-derived Veillonella successfully colonized in mouse gut, more abundantly under HTN condition. Conclusions: PD and oral microbiota are strongly associated with HTN, likely through oral-gut transmission of microbes. Ectopic colonization of saliva-derived Veillonella in the gut may aggravate HTN. Therefore, precise manipulations of oral microbiota and/or oral-gut microbial transmission may be useful strategies for better prevention and treatment of HTN.

Abstract Large scale power electronic converters in renewable energy power system (REPS) constitute a complex multi‐scale high‐order non‐linear network. Harmonic amplitude amplification of specific frequency (e.g. harmonic resonance) often occurs in stable REPS, threatening the normal operation of the system. The impedance reshaping methods based on the stability margin cannot quantitatively assess the risk of harmonic resonance, so that the reshaped system damping may be in a state of under‐ or over‐damped. This paper proposes a harmonic damping concise estimation (HDCE) method based on the one port equivalent RLC impedance model, which quantitatively describes the magnitude of harmonic damping of the system. Aiming at the harmonic damping of the system in an ideal power network, a method of quantitative reshaping of system damping based on HDCE using active damper is proposed, which ensures that the reshaped system is neither under‐damped nor over‐damped. The harmonic resonance is suppressed effectively while the current stress of the active damper is kept as small as possible. Simulation and experimental results verify the correctness of these analytical and quantitative damping reshaping methods.

Periodontitis and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are both chronic inflammatory diseases that are characterized by abnormal host immune responses and microbiota dysbiosis. Emerging evidence implies potential associations between periodontitis and IBD. Porphyromonas gingivalis (P. gingivalis), a primary cause of periodontitis, is thought to play a role in the development of IBD through the oral–gut disease axis. However, the precise mechanisms of its involvement remain enigmatic. In this narrative review, we begin with a discussion of the bidirectional relationship between periodontitis and IBD and the involvement of P. gingivalis in each of the two diseases. Further, we summarize the possible routes by which P. gingivalis links periodontitis and IBD through the oral–gut axis, as well as the underlying mechanisms of its involvement in the pathogenesis of IBD. Collectively, P. gingivalis participates in the progression of IBD through gut dysbiosis, impairment of the intestinal barrier, release of inflammatory mediators, and disturbance of the immune response. The above findings may provide new insights for exploring novel biomarkers and potential therapeutic approaches for IBD.

In passive seismic exploration, the number and location of underground sources are very random, and there may be few passive sources or an uneven spatial distribution. The random distribution of seismic sources can cause the virtual shot recordings to produce artifacts and coherent noise. These artifacts and coherent noise interfere with the valid information in the virtual shot record, making the virtual shot record a poorer presentation of subsurface information. In this paper, we utilize the powerful learning and data processing abilities of convolutional neural networks to process virtual shot recordings of sources in undesirable situations. We add an adaptive attention mechanism to the network so that it can automatically lock the positions that need special attention and processing in the virtual shot records. After testing, the trained network can eliminate coherent noise and artifacts and restore real reflected waves. Protecting valid signals means restoring valid signals with waveform anomalies to a reasonable shape.

The quaternion windowed linear canonical transform is a tool for processing multidimensional data and enhancing the quality and efficiency of signal and image processing; however, it has disadvantages due to the noncommutativity of quaternion multiplication. In contrast, reduced biquaternions, as a special case of four-dimensional algebra, possess unique advantages in computation because they satisfy the multiplicative exchange rule. This paper proposes the reduced biquaternion windowed linear canonical transform (RBWLCT) by combining the reduced biquaternion signal and the windowed linear canonical transform that has computational efficiency thanks to the commutative property. Firstly, we introduce the concept of a RBWLCT, which can extract the time local features of an image and has the advantages of both time-frequency analysis and feature extraction; moreover, we also provide some fundamental properties. Secondly, we propose convolution and correlation operations for RBWLCT along with their corresponding generalized convolution, correlation, and product theorems. Thirdly, we present a fast algorithm for RBWLCT and analyze its computational complexity based on two dimensional Fourier transform (2D FTs). Finally, simulations and examples are provided to demonstrate that the proposed transform effectively captures the local RBWLCT-frequency components with enhanced degrees of freedom and exhibits significant concentrations.

At present, there is no rail transit in China that can directly connect the main urban areas and satellite cities without passengers transferring halfway. In addition to the problem of passenger transfer, the construction of transfer stations presents a challenge to an already land-scarce city. In order to solve this problem, this paper introduces the status quo of rapid light rail technology in China and other countries, compares and analyzes the technical characteristics of rapid LRV, and finally puts forward suggestions on the selection of China’s rapid LRV scheme in the future.

In order to meet the public’s demand for higher and higher comfort level of low-floor trams, this paper analyzes the influence on comfort level from four aspects: equivalent conicity, hinge arrangement position, suspension parameters and track geometry quality. The results show that track geometry quality plays a decisive role in influencing the comfort of low-floor trams, and the power spectral density of track irregularity has a greater impact on the comfort of vehicles than the standard deviation and peak value. Finally, it is suggested that main line maintenance should be shifted from the current management of standard deviation and peak value to track power spectral density curve management. At the same time, it is suggested that vehicle manufacturer should study the track geometry quality more deeply.

A new ternary Mg1.4Co21.6B6 compound in the Mg-Co-B system was synthesized via a conventional solid-state reaction method and the effect of Ni-substitution on its crystal structure, thermal stability, solid solubility and physical properties were systematically investigated. The crystal structure of the Mg1.4Co21.6B6 compound was fully determined by the X-ray diffraction technique with Rietveld refinement method. It is found that Mg1.4Co21.6B6 crystallizes in the form of C6Cr23 structure type (space group: Fm-3m (No.225), a = 10.5617(2)Å, Z = 4). The results showed that the 4a sites have been occupied completely by Co atoms in present compound which with M2-xNi21+xB6 form belonging to the W2Cr21C6-type. When Mg1.4Co21.6B6 is repeatedly sintered at elevated temperatures, it becomes unstable and decomposes into Co3B and Mg. The lattice parameters of the Mg1.4Co21.6B6 solid solution alters dramtically with increasing Ni substitution, with no regular trend being observed. The electrical and magnetic performances of the 3.6Mg:3Co:17Ni:6B and 3.6Mg:3Co:18Ni:6B (nominal compositions) samples suggest that both samples are typical ferromagnetic materials. The temperature in the maximum drop of the ρ(T) curve decreases as a function of the Ni content. Base on the correlation between the critical temperature and Ni content, a linear fitting equation is obtained and the critical temperature of Mg1.4Co21.6B6 calculated utilizing the linear fitting equation. The findings in this work may provide certain reference values for material science on electrical magnetic properties and other references for researching the material further.

The microstructural evolution prediction and operating condition evaluation of nickel-based single crystal (SX) superalloys during creep are of great significance for damage assessment in service. In this paper, quantitative models of crept microstructural evolution of a nickel-based SX superalloy containing Re and Ru were constructed by using the machine learning method with physical and statistical features of microstructure. Firstly, a sequence of high temperature creep tests was conducted on high-throughput specimens with multiple conditions. The physical microstructural features, i.e., volume fraction (Vf), rafting degree (Ω), and rafts thickness (D) of γ′ precipitates of 8 different specimens were quantitated continuously. Secondly, the statistic features were introduced as supplementary to improve the specificity of microstructural features, using the two statistical methods of two-point correlation and principal component analysis (PCA). Then, two machine learning models were constructed through a neural network algorithm, to predict the microstructure under a certain creep condition and evaluate the creep condition with a certain microstructural feature. The validation creep test showed that these two models have good performance. The quantitative models constructed in this study have great significance in the alloy optimization and damage assessment of nickel-based SX superalloys, which can be extended to other SX superalloys.

ABSTRACT Fusobacterium nucleatum is a prevalent periodontal pathogen and is associated with many systemic diseases. Our knowledge of the genomic characteristics and pathogenic effectors of different F. nucleatum strains is limited. In this study, we completed the whole genome assembly of the 4 F. nucleatum strains and carried out a comprehensive pangenomic study of 30 strains with their complete genome sequences. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the F. nucleatum strains are mainly divided into 4 subspecies, while 1 of the sequenced strains was classified into a new subspecies. Gene composition analysis revealed that a total of 517 “core/soft-core genes” with housekeeping functions widely distributed in almost all the strains. Each subspecies had a unique gene cluster shared by strains within the subspecies. Analysis of the virulence factors revealed that many virulence factors were widely distributed across all the strains, with some present in multiple copies. Some virulence genes showed no consistent occurrence rule at the subspecies level and were specifically distributed in certain strains. The genomic islands mainly revealed strain-specific characteristics instead of subspecies level consistency, while CRISPR types and secondary metabolite biosynthetic gene clusters were identically distributed in F. nucleatum strains from the same subspecies. The variation in amino acid sites in the adhesion protein FadA did not affect the monomer and dimer 3D structures, but it may affect the binding surface and the stability of binding to host receptors. This study provides a basis for the pathogenic study of F. nucleatum at the subspecies and strain levels. IMPORTANCE We used F. nucleatum as an example to analyze the genomic characteristics of oral pathogens at the species, subspecies, and strain levels and elucidate the similarities and differences in functional genes and virulence factors among different subspecies/strains of the same oral pathogen. We believe that the unique biological characteristics of each subspecies/strain can be attributed to the differences in functional gene clusters or the presence/absence of certain virulence genes. This study showed that F. nucleatum strains from the same subspecies had similar functional gene compositions, CRISPR types, and secondary metabolite biosynthetic gene clusters, while pathogenic genes, such as virulence genes, antibiotic resistance genes, and GIs, had more strain level specificity. The findings of this study suggest that, for microbial pathogenicity studies, we should carefully consider the subspecies/strains being used, as different strains may vary greatly.

BackgroundMuscle strength is closely related to chronic noncommunicable diseases; specifically, a decline in handgrip strength (HS) is predominant globally. Exposure to green space—built environment components used for health intervention—reportedly decreases the risk of certain diseases and all-cause mortality. However, evidence in this area is limited.ObjectiveWe aimed to explore the association between green space exposure and muscle strength and ascertain the combined effect of physical activity and green space exposure on muscle strength.MethodData from 128,759 participants (aged 20–79 years) were obtained using a complex stratified multistage probability cluster sampling design. The green space was assessed as normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) data for a 500-m buffer zone based on the geolocation information of sampling sites. We used a questionnaire to investigate transportation, occupation, physical activity, leisure-time exercise behaviors, and sedentary time within a usual week of the preceding year. The outcome was low relative HS, defined as HS-to-body weight ratio, and the percentage of men and women with relative HS in the lower third. We defined adequate physical activity as 150 min of moderate-intensity or 75 min of vigorous physical activity per week and calculated the weighted proportion of participants with insufficient physical activity. Categorical variables of NDVI and physical activity were used as exposure variables and their interrelationship was evaluated in a generalized linear mixed model (GLMM) to estimate the odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI). We measured interaction on an additive or multiplicative scale using a GLMM to test the interaction between green space exposure and physical activity. All analyses were performed for the total sample and subgroups (urban and rural).ResultThe high NDVI group had a lower risk of low relative HS than the low NDVI group (OR [95% CI]: 0.92 [0.88–0.95]). The sufficient physical activity group had a lower risk of low relative HS than the insufficient physical activity group (OR [95% CI]: 0.85 [0.81–0.88]). There was an interactive effect on the additive scale (relative excess risk owing to interaction: 0.29, 95% CI 0.22–0.36, p < 0.001) between green space exposure and physical activity.ConclusionHigh NDVI and adequate physical activity were protective factors against low relative HS in Chinese adults. Increasing green space exposure and physical activity together may have a greater potentiating effect on muscle strength improvement than these two protective factors individually. Green spaces should be incorporated into city design or built environments.

Distributed artificial intelligence is increasingly being applied to multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (multi-UAVs). This poses challenges to the distributed reconfiguration (DR) required for the optimal redeployment of multi-UAVs in the event of vehicle destruction. This paper presents a multi-agent deep reinforcement learning-based DR strategy (DRS) that optimizes the multi-UAV group redeployment in terms of swarm performance. To generate a two-layer DRS between multiple groups and a single group, a multi-agent deep reinforcement learning framework is developed in which a QMIX network determines the swarm redeployment, and each deep Q-network determines the single-group redeployment. The proposed method is simulated using Python and a case study demonstrates its effectiveness as a high-quality DRS for large-scale scenarios.

(1) Background: Epidemiological studies on the relationship between serum copper and hypertension are contradictory. We assessed the relationship between serum copper and blood pressure among adults in the United States. (2) Methods: We divided hypertension into two categories: treated hypertension and untreated hypertension. Linear or logistic regression analysis was applied to investigate the association between serum copper concentrations and blood pressure levels. (3) Results: As compared to quartile 1, the odds ratios (ORs) for untreated hypertension in quartiles 2, 3, and 4 were 1.02 (0.74–1.42), 1.23 (0.88–1.72), and 1.08 (0.74–1.58), respectively, in multivariable analysis (all p > 0.05). In non-hypertension, as compared with quartile 1, the β (95% CI) of systolic blood pressure for quartiles 2, 3, and 4 was −0.92 (−2.07–0.23), −0.05 (−1.30–1.20), and −0.48 (−1.83–0.88), respectively, in multivariable analysis (all p > 0.05). As compared to quartile 1, the ORs for treated hypertension in quartiles 2, 3, and 4 were 1.36 (0.88–2.10), 1.35 (0.87–2.09), and 1.56 (0.98–2.47), respectively, upon multivariable analysis including antihypertensive medication use as a covariate (all p > 0.05). Furthermore, 1SD increase in serum copper was non-significantly associated with 1.16 (0.97–1.37)-fold increased risk of hypertension in multivariable analysis (p = 0.096). (4) Conclusion: In the present study, we discovered that the serum copper concentration was not related with hypertension or blood pressure levels. Antihypertensive drug use may distort the correlation between copper and blood pressure levels. Information on antihypertensive drug use may be taken into account when identifying new risk factors for hypertension.
