Abstract

Summary: We consider and analyze a single‐server multiqueue polling model with inner arrivals. Customers arriving at the queue before polling instant could receive service in the current polling round; furthermore, each one could be retried (turns into an inner arrival) a given number of times with a specified probability. Such polling model can be used to study the performance of certain scheduling data transmission in the Internet of Things (IoT) and the relationship between data retransmission and delay. We obtain the closed‐form expression for the generating function of the amount of customers, which are presented at polling instants. Then, it is used to derive the precise closed‐form formula of mean queue length and mean waiting time in symmetric system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Ray tracing is an important theory in the area of computer graphics for producing photo realistic image. This paper implemented a classical ray tracer which is capable to render most geometric elements. This ray will be adopted tracer to render scenes from BART and produced animations respectively. We then designed a new scene on 3ds max 2014 and output its OBJ format, according to which, our ray tracer produced its corresponding animation, further demonstrating its performance in rendering any given scene represented in proper data format. We also produced some cartoon style images by our ray tracer and compared their quality with the first CG made film, toy story, rendered by Pixar's Render-Man. Finally, a path tracing method and photon mapping method into our ray tracer are applied to simulate caustic effects. The comparison and analysis of these two methods are given in the end.

22. Texture Deviation Mapping Based on Detail Enhancement

Abstract

To provide with an effective technique for non-photorealistic rendering for computer generated images with artistic appearances from 2D images motivates our work in this paper. The methods proposed in this paper are inspired by the image deviation mapping constructed from a single texture background image. We establish our method for obtaining artistic appearances taking the deviation mapping as the underlying basis. Based on the simple linear filtering convolution operation, which is well suited of progressive coarsening of images and for detail extraction, and the image’s detail, such as edge and tone can be preserved in the final artistic appearance. This method has the exact computational complexity, and this technique is easily to implement and the rendering speed is fast.
