Abstract Background Although epidural anaesthesia and spinal anaesthesia are currently the general choices for patients undergoing caesarean section, these two neuraxial anaesthesia methods still have drawbacks. Caudal anaesthesia has been considered to be more appropriate for gynaecological surgery. The purpose of this study was to compare epidural anaesthesia combined with caudal anaesthesia, spinal anaesthesia and single-space epidural anaesthesia for caesarean section with respect to postoperative comfort and intraoperative anaesthesia quality. Methods In this clinical trial, 150 patients undergoing elective caesarean section were recruited and randomized into three groups according to a ratio of 1:1:1to receive epidural anaesthesia only, spinal anaesthesia only or epidural anaesthesia combined with caudal anaesthesia. The primary outcome was postoperative comfort in the three groups. Secondary outcomes included intraoperative anaesthesia quality and the incidences of nausea, vomiting, postdural puncture headache, maternal bradycardia, or hypotension. Results More patients were satisfied with the intraoperative anaesthesia quality in the EAC group than in the EA group (P = 0.001). The obstetrician was more significantly satisfied with the intraoperative anaesthesia quality in the SA and EAC groups than in the EA group (P = 0.004 and 0.020, respectively). The parturients felt more comfortable after surgery in the EA and EAC groups (P = 0.007). The incidence of maternal hypotension during caesarean section was higher in the SA group than in the EA and EAC groups (P = 0.001 and 0.019, respectively). Conclusions Epidural anaesthesia combined with caudal anaesthesia may be a better choice for elective caesarean section. Compared with epidural anaesthesia and spinal anaesthesia, it has a higher quality of postoperative comfort and intraoperative anaesthesia.

In this paper, we obtain the exact controllability for a refined stochastic wave equation with three controls by establishing a novel Carleman estimate for a backward hyperbolic-like operator. Compared with the known result [Q. L\"u and X Zhang, Mathematical Control Theory for Stochastic Partial Differential Equations, Springer, Cham, Switzerland, 2021], the novelty of this paper is twofold: (1) Our model contains the effects in the drift terms when we put controls directly in the diffusion terms, which is more sensible for practical applications; (2) We provide an explicit description of the waiting time which is sharp in the case of dimension one and is independent of the coefficents of lower terms. Abstract Objective The pan-immune inflammatory (PIV) index holds prognostic value for cardiovascular diseases. This study aimed to investigate the predictive value of the PIV index regarding recurrence of atrial fibrillation (AF) after cryoballoon ablation (CBA). Methods The study included 307 patients with AF. Four inflammatory markers, namely, the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), systemic immune inflammation (SII) index, and PIV index, were used as indicators. COX regression analysis was conducted to evaluate the predictive value of AF recurrence after CBA. A receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was plotted, and the area under the curve (AUC) was calculated to evaluate the discriminative power of the indicators. Aroma is a critical quality of fruit and vegetable juices, drawing considerable attention. High-pressure processing (HPP) is demonstrated to possess more advantageous than thermal sterilization in preserving the aroma quality of fruit and vegetable juices and reducing processing off-flavors. In this paper, the changes in aroma quality of HPP fruit and vegetable juices during processing and storage are reviewed. The HPP treatment process has little effect on the overall aroma quality and sensory attributes of fruit and vegetable juices. The deterioration of aroma quality mainly occurs during the subsequent storage period. This paper elucidates the mechanism of aroma quality change of HPP fruit and vegetable juices from aspects such as the activation or inactivation of enzymes by HPP and the interaction between matrix molecules and aroma. It summarizes the currently common aroma quality control measures for HPP fruit and vegetable juices. The enzyme inactivation effects could be improved by combining temperature and pressure, optimizing the pressurization mode, and using technologies such as HPP in combination with CO2 and ultrafiltration. Product quality could also be improved by improving storage conditions. This paper reviews the research progress on aroma quality of ultra-high pressure fruit and vegetable juices, in order to provide ideas and references for subsequent product research and development and the study of aroma change mechanisms.

It is of great interest to overcome the problem of high-temperature oxidation of press-hardened steels (PHS) in press hardening with a cost-effective Cr alloying strategy. Therefore, since Cr is one of the expensive metals, the effect of Cr (Cr ≤ 3 wt%) content on the oxidation resistance of Cr–Si–Mn alloyed steels was investigated. It was found that Cr–Si–Mn alloyed PHS with a Cr content of about 1.5 wt% or less cannot form a continuous Cr2O3 layer during press hardening. However, when the Cr content reaches around 2.5 wt%, the PHS shows excellent oxidation resistance due to the formation of continuous Cr2O3 and amorphous SiO2 layers, as well as an Mn-rich oxide layer. However, further addition of 0.5 wt% could not significantly improve the oxidation resistance of this PHS. Moreover, the increase in Cr content simultaneously enhances the positive role of Si and Mn in high-temperature oxidation resistance. This work provides new insights into the design of the next generation of PHSs with economical and superior performance.

Flavor, especially odor, is one of the most concerning food qualities for producers and consumers. The odor of E. sinensis is a vital quality indicator and highly variable in species, diets, regions and harvest seasons. These differences could diminish consumer acceptance and reduce the economic returns to the farmer. Until now, 168 volatile compounds have been identified in E. sinensis, of which 42 are shared to five edible parts, and the hepatopancreas has 22 specific compounds. The 30 aroma-active compounds may interact to form odor profiles. Volatile compounds are mainly derived from Phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) and free fatty acids (FFA) by a series of biochemical reactions such as thermal degradation, secondary degradation, molecular rearrangement, and Maillard reaction. The odor of crab has a close relationship with agriculture. Once harvested, the crab also produces odors during processing and storage, which could be controlled by consumers. This work provides information that could support the development of innovative aquaculture strategies to satisfy the needs of the consumer market.

Abstract The high-intactness and ultraclean fabrication of suspended 2D materials has always been a challenge due to their atomically thin nature. Here, we present a universal polymer-free transfer approach for fabricating suspended 2D materials by using volatile micro-molecule cyclododecane as the transfer medium, thus ensuring the ultraclean and intact surface of suspended 2D materials. For the fabricated monolayer suspended graphene, the intactness reaches 99% for size below 10 µm and suspended size reaches 36 µm. Owing to the advantages of ultra-cleanness and large size, the thermal conductivity reaches 4914 $${\rm{W}}\,{{\rm{m}}}^{-1}{{\rm{K}}}^{-1}$$ W m − 1 K − 1 at 338 K. Moreover, this strategy can also realize efficient batch transfer of suspended graphene and is applicable for fabricating other 2D suspended materials such as MoS2. Our research not only establishes foundation for potential applications and investigations of intrinsic properties of large-area suspended 2D materials, but also accelerates the wide applications of suspended graphene grid in ultrahigh-resolution TEM characterization.

Abstract Background The aim of this study is to explore the influence of GPs’information, motivation and behavior skills on EM prescribing behavior in urban and suburban districts. Method A cross-sectional study was conducted from June to November 2022 cross 3 urban districts and 4 suburban districts in Beijing. The structural equation model was used to analyze the factors influencing the essential medicine prescription behavior among general practitioners in urban and suburban districts. Results A total of 511 valid questionnaires were collected. There was a statistically significant difference in mean scores for personal motivation and behavioral skills between urban GPs and suburban GPs. In recent years, electro-osmotic method is an effective foundation treatment method for dredged silt; however, few studies have focused on the influence of temperature on the electro-osmotic consolidation. To explore the influence of temperature field on electroosmotic consolidation characteristics, based on the thermos-elasticity theory and the Esrig’s electro-osmotic consolidation theory, the governing equations of coupled heat balance and seepage characteristics were established, and the analytical solutions of excess pore water pressure and the degree of consolidation were derived by using the methods of algebraic transformation and variable separation. The correctness of the proposed solutions was verified by comparing the degenerative analytical solutions with the Esrig’s theory, combined with the model test. Then the effects of the different depths, the temperature, and the voltage on the electroosmotic consolidation behavior of soil were analyzed. Under the same voltage and temperature, the dissipation rate of excess pore pressure generated by electroosmotic consolidation (TE) considering thermal effect is faster than that generated by Esrig electroosmotic consolidation (E), and the final pore pressure of the former is larger than that of latter. Under the same depth and voltage, with the temperature increase, the TE pore pressure increases from 73% to 155% compared with the E pore pressure. Under the same depth and temperature, with the voltage increase, the increase of TE pore pressure is similar to E pore pressure. Under different temperatures and voltages, the degree of consolidation of TE and E changes little. The experimental and theoretical analysis of thermoelectric coupling consolidation can provide theoretical guidance for practical engineering applications.

IntroductionAccurately recognizing and understanding human motion actions presents a key challenge in the development of intelligent sports robots. Traditional methods often encounter significant drawbacks, such as high computational resource requirements and suboptimal real-time performance. To address these limitations, this study proposes a novel approach called Sports-ACtrans Net.MethodsIn this approach, the Swin Transformer processes visual data to extract spatial features, while the Spatio-Temporal Graph Convolutional Network (ST-GCN) models human motion as graphs to handle skeleton data. By combining these outputs, a comprehensive representation of motion actions is created. Reinforcement learning is employed to optimize the action recognition process, framing it as a sequential decision-making problem. Deep Q-learning is utilized to learn the optimal policy, thereby enhancing the robot's ability to accurately recognize and engage in motion.Results and discussionExperiments demonstrate significant improvements over state-of-the-art methods. This research advances the fields of neural computation, computer vision, and neuroscience, aiding in the development of intelligent robotic systems capable of understanding and participating in sports activities.

Abstract A 2 × 2 thermo‐optic (TO) switch using dual topological photonic crystal nanobeam (PCN) cavities on the silicon‐on‐insulator (SOI) platform is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. A Fano resonance is observed due to the interference between the topological interface state of the 1D topological PCN cavity and the Fabry‐Perot (F‐P) cavity mode formed between the two facets of the finitely long nanobeam waveguide. Thanks to the sharp rising edge of the spectral response of the Fano resonance and the high confinement of light in the topological PCN cavities, a 2 × 2 TO switch is realized with short switching time and low power consumption. The measured switching power is only 1.55 mW, and the rising time and the falling time are 3 and 5.6 µs, respectively in the on‐off switching experiments. To the best of the knowledge, this is the first time that a dual topological PCN structure is utilized to realize a high‐speed and low‐power TO switch, revealing the possibility of designing high‐performance reconfigurable optical devices and networks using topological photonics.

Despite the recent advances in understanding the water ingress at the interface of calcium silicate hydrate and epoxy, there are still open questions regarding the pore size and defects' dependence on the structure, dynamic and mechanical properties of the interfaces. In this paper, molecular dynamics simulations are carried out for perfect and defective interface models consisting of C-S-H and epoxy resins, respectively. Gaps of different sizes between epoxy and C-S-H are filled with water molecules, with a maximum spacing of 2.79 nm, to investigate the effect of water ingress on the structural, dynamic, and mechanical properties of the interface. The results indicate that in the interface formed by the defective structure, the calcium ions responsible for providing strength have been transformed into a free state due to the influence of water molecules. Consequently, they lose their ability to bridge between the epoxy and silicate tetrahedra, leading to the inability to establish interfacial strength. The defective structure, with its larger surface area and increased interaction with water, is more susceptible to degradation, especially noticeable in the tensile simulations. Furthermore, the interactions between water and C-S-H are the primary factors influencing the microstructure and dynamic behavior of the interface. As the number of water molecules increases, the interface strength weakens. This work provides new insight into understanding the bonding mechanism of the C-S-H/epoxy interface with water ingress. It contributes to the design and development of FRP reinforced concrete composites.

In this work, the relationship and kinetics of biodegradation and bio-adsorption of benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) by Bacillus and Ascomycota were explored, and the metabolites of BaP under mixed microbial coculture were analyzed and characterized. The results show that BaP was removed through both biosorption and biodegradation. Under mixed microbial coculture, biosorption played a significant role in the early stage and biodegradation was predominant in the later stage. During the removal of BaP, the fungi exhibited remarkable adsorption capabilities for BaP with an adsorption efficiency (AE) of 38.14 %, while bacteria had a best degradation for BaP with a degradation efficiency (DE) of 56.13 %. Under the mixed microbial culture, the removal efficiency (RE) of BaP by the synergistic action of fungi and bacteria reached up to 76.12 % within 15 days. Kinetics analysis illustrated that the degradation and adsorption process of BaP were well fit to the first-order and the pseudo-second-order kinetic models, respectively. The research on the relationship between degradation and adsorption during microbial removal of BaP, as well as the synergistic effects of fungi and bacteria, will provide a theoretical guidance for two or even synthetic microbial communities.

We revisit the proton emitter 149Lu utilizing the recently developed triaxial relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory in continuum (TRHBc). By incorporating the microscopic nuclear structure properties from the TRHBc theory into the WKB approximation, we successfully reproduce the measured proton-emission half-life of 149Lu within experimental uncertainties. A triaxial ground state characterized by (β=0.17,γ=31∘) has been clarified for 149Lu. The inclusion of triaxiality significantly changes nuclear density distributions and potentials, which results in enhanced binding of both the nuclear system and the proton-emitting orbital. As a result, a slightly extended half-life for the proton emission of 149Lu is achieved after considering triaxial deformation degrees of freedom. The examination of the dependence of the decay width on triaxial deformation parameters highlights the significance of microscopic description of nuclear deformation beyond the proton dripline.

Abstract The immunoprotective components control COVID-19 disease severity, as well as long-term adaptive immunity maintenance and subsequent reinfection risk discrepancies across initial COVID-19 severity, remain unclarified. Here, we longitudinally analyzed SARS-CoV-2-specific immune effectors during the acute infection and convalescent phases of 165 patients with COVID-19 categorized by severity. We found that early and robust SARS-CoV-2-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T cell responses ameliorate disease progression and shortened hospital stay, while delayed and attenuated virus-specific CD8+ T cell responses are prominent severe COVID-19 features. Delayed antiviral antibody generation rather than titer level associates with severe outcomes. Conversely, initial COVID-19 severity imprints the long-term maintenance of SARS-CoV-2-specific adaptive immunity, demonstrating that severe convalescents exhibited more sustained virus-specific antibodies and memory T cell responses compared to mild/moderate counterparts. Moreover, initial COVID-19 severity inversely correlates with SARS-CoV-2 reinfection risk. Overall, our study unravels the complicated interaction between temporal characteristics of virus-specific T cell responses and COVID-19 severity to guide future SARS-CoV-2 wave management.

Constructing structure-function relationships is critical for the rational design and development of efficient catalysts for CO2 electroreduction reaction (CO2RR). In2O3 is well-known for its specific ability to produce formic acid. However, how the crystal phase and surface affect the CO2RR activity is still unclear, making it difficult to further improve the intrinsic activity and screen for the most active structure. In this work, cubic and hexagonal In2O3 with different stable surfaces ((111) and (110) for cubic, (120) and (104) for hexagonal) are investigated for CO2RR. Theoretical results demonstrate that the adsorption of reactants on cubic In2O3 is stronger than that on hexagonal In2O3, with the cubic (111) surface being the most active for CO2RR. In experiments, synthesized cubic In2O3 nanosheets with predominantly exposed (111) surfaces exhibited a high HCOO– Faradaic efficiency (87.5%) and HCOO– current density (–16.7 mA cm–2) at –0.9 V vs RHE. In addition, an aqueous Zn-CO2 battery based on a cubic In2O3 cathode was assembled. Our work correlates the phases and surfaces with the CO2RR activity, and provides a fundamental understanding of the structure-function relationship of In2O3, thereby contributing to further improvements in its CO2RR activity. Moreover, the results provide a principle for the directional preparation of materials with optimal phases and surfaces for efficient electrocatalysis.

Abstract Objective Our study was to investigate the impact of taurolactone, a novel anti-tumor and anti-angiogenic drug, on AGGF1, an angiogenic factor, and angiogenesis mimicry in patients diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods A total of 120 HCC patients were enrolled from the Department of Oncology and Hepatobiliary Surgery at our hospital between May 2021 and December 2022. HCC diagnoses were confirmed through imaging or tissue biopsy for all patients. The age of patients ranged from 37 to 72 years, with an average age of 64.29 ± 4.58 years. These participants were divided equally into two groups: the control group and the observation group, each consisting of 60 individuals. While the control group received standard drug treatment, the observation group was administered taurolactone treatment. Before being included in the study, all participants or their legal representatives provided signed informed consent. Patient demographic information was collected through a questionnaire survey. ELISA was used to measure the levels of VEGF and AGGF1 in patients following treatment. Western blot was applied to assess the protein expression of PDGF, Angiopoietin, and AGGF1. MRI imaging technology was utilized to assess the perfusion characteristics of tumor blood vessels in patients. Tumor vessel density was compared between patients using ultrasonography. We also conducted a comparison between the two groups in terms of progression-free survival and overall survival. Results General patient information between the two groups showed no significant differences (P > 0.05). Abstract Background Cervical cancer is a human papillomavirus (HPV)-related disease. HPV type 16 (HPV16), which is the predominant cause of cervical cancer, can encode miRNAs (HPV16-miRNAs). However, the role of HPV16-miRNAs in the pathogenesis of cervical cancer remains unclear. Methods Human cervical cancer cell lines SiHa (HPV16-positive) and C33A (HPV-negative), and cervical cancer tissues were collected to investigate the expression levels of two HPV16-miRNAs (HPV16-miR-H1 and HPV16-miR-H6). The overexpression and knockdown of HPV16-miR-H1 and HPV16-miR-H6 were performed using the lentiviral vector system and miRNA inhibitors, respectively. RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis and H3K27ac chromatin immunoprecipitation and sequencing (CHIP-seq) experiments were utilized to explore the roles of HPV16-miR-H1 and HPV16-miR-H6 facilitated by enhancers. CCK8, EdU, transwell, and wound healing assays were performed to verify the effects of HPV16-miR-H1 and HPV16-miR-H6 on cell proliferation and migration. Results HPV16-miR-H1 and HPV16-miR-H6 were highly expressed in both SiHa cells and tissue samples from HPV16-positive cervical cancer patients. RNA-seq analysis showed that HPV16-miR-H1 and HPV16-miR-H6 induced the upregulation of numerous tumor progression-associated genes. H3K27ac CHIP-seq experiments further revealed that HPV16-miR-H1 and HPV16-miR-H6 modulated the expression of critical genes by regulating their enhancer activity. The functional study demonstrated that HPV16-miR-H1 and HPV16-miR-H6 increased the migratory capacity of SiHa cells. Conclusions Our data shed light on the role of HPV16-encoded miRNAs in cervical cancer, particularly emphasizing their involvement in the miRNA-enhancer-target gene system. This novel regulatory mechanism of HPV16-miRNAs provides new insights and approaches for the development of therapeutic strategies by targeting HPV16-positive cervical cancer.

Abstract Background As the number of elderly migrants in China continues to grow, it is necessary to pay closer attention to their health and health services. Some studies have confirmed that social capital plays a significant role in the utilization of health services. Therefore, an in-depth exploration of the relationship between social capital and the utilization of essential public health services (EPHS) by elderly migrants will not only contribute to improving their overall health but also facilitate a more balanced development of public health service system in China. Methods Based on the cross-sectional data from the 2017 China Migrants Dynamic Survey (CMDS), this study examined the impact of social capital on the utilization of EPHS among elderly migrants. We evaluated social capital at two distinct levels: the individual and the community, and considered two dimensions of social capital: structural social capital (SSC) and cognitive social capital (CSC). The study aimed to delve into the impact of these forms of social capital on the utilization of EPHS among elderly migrants, and whether the migration range moderates this impact by multilevel logistic regression analysis. Results A total of 5,728 migrant elderly individuals were selected. The health records establishment rate and health education acceptance rate were approximately 33.0% and 58.6%, respectively. Social capital influenceed the utilization of EPHS among elderly migrants. Specifically, individual-level SSC and CSC have impacts on both the establishment of health records (OR = 1.598, 95%CI 1.366–1.869; OR = 1.705, 95%CI 1.433–2.028) and the acceptance of health education (OR = 1.345, 95%CI 1.154–1.567; OR = 2.297, 95%CI 1.906–2.768) among elderly migrants, while community-level SSC only affected the acceptance of health education (OR = 3.838, 95%CI 1.328–11.097). There were significant differences in individual-level SSC, health records, and health education among different migration range subgroups among elderly migrants. Migration range moderated the effect of social capital on the utilization of EPHS, crossing provinces could weaken the relationship between SSC and health education. Conclusions Social capital is associated with a higher utilization rate of EPHS among elderly migrants. It is necessary to encourage them to actively participate in social activities, strengthen public services and infrastructure construction in the area, and improve their sense of belonging and identity.

Abstract Few‐shot learning enables machines to learn efficiently from limited labelled data. However, existing few‐shot learning methods may perform poorly when there is a lack of sufficient samples, and may encounter problems such as domain shift or overfitting when applied to new domains or tasks. To address the issues of poor fitting and insufficient generalization ability in new domains, a new method called triplet merged network with involution operators (TMNIO) is proposed. This method employs dual encoders that extract common and distinctive features from the prototype network, thereby enhancing the model's feature extraction capability. To further improve this ability, the traditional convolutional kernels are replaced with involution operators, which not only reduce the parameter count but also enlarge the receptive field to better extract local feature information. Additionally, this method employs a two‐stage training strategy, where triplet loss is used in the first stage to train the model and enhance its robustness and generalization ability. Extensive experiments on the miniImageNet, Omniglot, and Caltech‐UCSD Birds‐200 (CUB) datasets have shown that our proposed method achieved significant improvements in both training speed and accuracy, particularly on the miniImageNet dataset, where it achieved an outstanding 10% performance improvement.

Abstract Background The Xylogone ganodermophthora is a pathogenic bacterium that poses a significant challenge to the continuous cultivation of the Ganoderma lucidum fungus. This study aims to identify and investigate specific agents for the effective prevention and control of X. ganodermophthora, establishing a theoretical foundation for overcoming this persistent challenge in G. lucidum cultivation. Results Using different G. lucidum soil as materials to study the presence of X. ganodermophthora in the soil. Additionally, the plate confrontation test was employed to investigate the impact of X. ganodermophthora on G. lucidum growth. The impact of physical factors and antibacterial agents on pathogenic bacteria was successfully carried out, with a further exploration of the effectiveness of field control. PCR amplification experiment and sequencing analysis verified that X. ganodermophthora existed in G. lucidum continuous cropping obstacle soil. This pathogenic bacteria has a significant inhibitory effect on the growth of G. lucidum, with an inhibition rate of up to 52.23%. High temperature, low temperature, light and other physical factors have no obvious inhibitory effect on this pathogen. Further investigation revealed that specific drugs, such as low concentrations (10 μL/mL) of Acticide DB20 and Imazalil, could effectively inhibit X. ganodermophthora growth in G. lucidum. Among them, Imazalil has a notable inhibitory effect on the growth of X. ganodermophthora. Conclusions Indoor toxicity test and field control results showed that Imazalil could effectively control the growth of pathogen X. ganodermophthora in G. lucidum continuous cropping obstacle, and promote the growth of G. lucidum. Abstract Background Octamer-binding transcription factor 4-positive circulating tumor cell (OCT4+CTC) exhibits high stemness and invasive potential, which may influence the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). This study aimed to assess the prognostic role of OCT4+CTC in advanced cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) patients who received ICI treatment. Methods In total, 40 advanced CCA patients who received ICI treatment were included, and CTC and OCT4 counts were detected via a Canpatrol system and an RNA in situ hybridization method before ICI treatment. Patients were subsequently divided into none CTC, OCT4−CTC, and OCT4+CTC groups. Patients were followed up for a median of 10.4 months. Results The percentages of patients in none CTC, OCT4−CTC, and OCT4+CTC groups were 25.0%, 30.0%, and 45.0%, respectively. The proportion of patients with lymph node metastasis was highest in OCT4+CTC group, followed by none CTC group, and lowest in OCT4−CTC group (P = 0.025). Extraction and purification of polysaccharides from the seed kernel of Acer truncatum Bungeto investigate their physicochemical properties and hypoglycemic activity. In the study, the polysaccharide was obtained by water extraction and ethanol precipitation from seed kernel of Acer truncatum Bunge, and the extraction process was optimized by response surface method. The polysaccharide was purified by Sevage deproteinization and column chromatography. The composition and structure of the purified polysaccharide were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and ion chromatography, and its hypoglycemic activity was further investigated by the insulin resistance model of liver cancer cell (IR-HepG2). The results showed that the yield of crude polysaccharide (PATM) was 18.17% under the conditions of extraction times 1, liquid-solid ratio 30:1 mL/g, extraction temperature 80 ℃ and extraction time 3.5 h. In recent years, China's advanced light sources have entered a period of rapid construction and development. As modern X-ray detectors and data acquisition technologies advance, these facilities are expected to generate massive volumes of data annually, presenting significant challenges in data management and utilization. These challenges encompass data storage, metadata handling, data transfer and user data access. In response, the Data Organization Management Access Software (DOMAS) has been designed as a framework to address these issues. DOMAS encapsulates four fundamental modules of data management software, including metadata catalogue, metadata acquisition, data transfer and data service. For light source facilities, building a data management system only requires parameter configuration and minimal code development within DOMAS. This paper firstly discusses the development of advanced light sources in China and the associated demands and challenges in data management, prompting a reconsideration of data management software framework design. It then outlines the architecture of the framework, detailing its components and functions. Lastly, it highlights the application progress and effectiveness of DOMAS when deployed for the High Energy Photon Source (HEPS) and Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility (BSRF).

Abstract Schizophrenia (SCZ), a highly heritable mental disorder, is characterized by cognitive impairment, yet the extent of the shared genetic basis between schizophrenia and cognitive performance (CP) remains poorly understood. Therefore, we aimed to explore the polygenic overlap between SCZ and CP. Specifically, the bivariate causal mixture model (MiXeR) was employed to estimate the extent of genetic overlap between SCZ (n = 130,644) and CP (n = 257,841), and conjunctional false discovery rate (conjFDR) approach was used to identify shared genetic loci. Subsequently, functional annotation and enrichment analysis were carried out on the identified genomic loci. The MiXeR analyses revealed that 9.6 K genetic variants are associated with SCZ and 10.9 K genetic variants for CP, of which 9.5 K variants are shared between these two traits (Dice coefficient = 92.8%). By employing conjFDR, 236 loci were identified jointly associated with SCZ and CP, of which 139 were novel for the two traits. Within these shared loci, 60 exhibited consistent effect directions, while 176 had opposite effect directions. Functional annotation analysis indicated that the shared genetic loci were mainly located in intronic and intergenic regions, and were found to be involved in relevant biological processes such as nervous system development, multicellular organism development, and generation of neurons. Together, our findings provide insights into the shared genetic architecture between SCZ and CP, suggesting common pathways and mechanisms contributing to both traits.

Abstract Understanding the structure of the electric double layer (EDL) is critical for designing efficient electrocatalytic processes. However, the interplay between reactant adsorbates and the concentrated ionic species within the EDL remains an aspect that has yet to be fully explored. In the present study, we employ electrochemical CO reduction on Cu as a model reaction to reveal the significant impact of EDL structure on CO adsorption. By altering the sequence of applying negative potential and elevating CO pressure, we discern two distinct EDL structures with varying cation density and CO coverage. Our findings demonstrate that the EDL comprising densely packed cations substantially hinders CO adsorption on the Cu as opposed to the EDL containing less compact cations. These two different EDL structures remained stable over the course of our experiments, despite their identical initial and final conditions, suggesting an insurmountable kinetic barrier present in between. Moreover, we show that the size and identity of cations play decisive roles in determining the properties of the EDL in CO electroreduction on Cu. This study presents a refined adaptation of the classical Gouy-Chapman-Stern model and highlights its catalytic importance, which bridges the mechanistic gap between the EDL structure and cathodic reactions.

We developed a multimodal ultrasound (US) deep learning (DL) fusion model to automatically classify early fibrosis in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). This prospective study included patients with CKD who underwent continuous gray-scale US, superb microvascular imaging, and strain elastography from May to November 2022. According to the pathological tubular atrophy and interstitial fibrosis score, patients were divided into minimal and mild groups (affected area ≤10% and 11 − 25% of the total cortical volume, respectively). The dataset was divided into training (70%) and test (30%) sets. A DL model combining the features of the three US modes was developed to predict early fibrosis in patients with CKD. We compared these findings with the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of the clinical model by analyzing the receiver operating characteristic curve in the test set. The AUC of single-mode DL based on gray-scale US, superb microvascular imaging, and strain elastography was 0.682, 0.745, and 0.648, respectively, while that of the multimodal US DL model was 0.86. The accuracy, specificity, and sensitivity of the multimodal US DL model were 0.779, 0.767, and 0.796, respectively, and the negative and positive predictive values were 0.842 and 0.706, respectively. The AUC of the multimodal US DL model was significantly better than that of the single-mode DL and clinical models. The DL algorithm developed using multimodal US images can effectively predict early fibrosis in patients with CKD with significantly greater accuracy than single-mode DL or clinical models.

Carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) emerges as a pivotal strategy for CO2 reduction in the power sector, particularly focusing on the overlooked domain of offshore storage along China's east coast. In spite of the potential high costs, irreversible investments, and lengthy development, offshore storage can still be prospective. Considering autonomous decision-making among emission sources, this study pioneers a CO2 offshore storage investment decision model tailored for coal-fired and gas-fired power plants. Innovating an offshore storage source-sink matching model with a real options model and introducing a pipeline network optimization model allows a realistic source-sink matching strategy to be explored under optimal investment timing. According to the results, among 154 large stationary emission sources in Zhejiang Province, offshore storage could reduce CO2 emissions by 4.59 Gt, utilizing the Qiantang, Minjiang, and Fuzhou depressions. It is economically feasible to implement offshore storage with a whole-process unit cost of 368.8 CNY/tCO2, mainly dominated by capture costs. A hybrid carbon tax-subsidy policy promotes carbon reduction and economic benefits, offering a more effective incentive for emission sources to invest in offshore storage than a single policy. At a hybrid policy price of 250 CNY/tCO2, all 27 selected emission sources are projected to invest in offshore storage by 2048, with a preference for the Qiantang depression as the storage site. Practically, this study provides important technical support and guidance for the large-scale deployment of offshore storage.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) establish a fresh global framework for evaluating the development agenda, emphasizing prosperity, growth, inclusivity, and transparency while safeguarding our planet Earth. Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) represents a clear target for assessing the achievement of SDG 15.3. In response to the shortcomings of the African Great Green Wall initiative with respect to LDN monitoring, reporting, and intervention, we developed an online tool, the Great Green Wall Big Data Facilitator (GGW-BDF), based on earth observation data (e.g. SDGSAT-1), cutting-edge big data analysis technologies, and Chinese experience in combating desertification, to support the implementation of the African Great Green Wall initiative. The GGW-BDF comprises an LDN data portal, desertification control knowledge, and e-learning resources. This study highlights the functionality of this tool to support stakeholders across countries in monitoring LDN while providing the successful technoloiges to restore degraded or barren land. The contributions of the GGW-BDF are very useful in supporting the Pan-African Agency of the Great Green Wall (PAGGW), and will hopefully be continuously upgraded for being a part of the federated toolbox of the Group on Earth Observation (GEO) LDN Flagship.

Intracellular radicals play important roles in cell signaling and regulation of growth factors, cytokines, transcription, apoptosis, and immunomodulation, among others. To gain a more comprehensive understanding of their biological functions from a spatio-temporal pers­pective, there is a great need for nanoscale sensitive tools that allow real-time detection of these reactive species. Currently, intracellular radical probes are based on chemical reactions that could significantly alter radical levels during detection. Due to the excellent bio­compatibility and favorable photophysical properties of nitrogen-vacancy (NV–) centers in fluorescent nanodiamonds (fNDs), the fNDs can serve as a powerful and chemically inert nanotool for intracellular radical detection. In this study, a positively charged nanogel (NG) coating was prepared to prevent the precipitation of fNDs and promote cellular internalization. After internalization of nanodiamond-nanogels (fND-NGs), different stimulators, namely somatostatin (SST), triphenylphosphonium (TPP), and trans-activator of transcription (TAT) peptide, which are widely used cell- or organelle-targeting ligands in medicine, drug delivery, and diagnostics, were applied to stimulate the cells. In parallel, the intracellular radical changes under stimulation of SST, TPP, and TAT ligands were monitored by fND-NGs in a home-built optically detected magnetic resonance (ODMR) microscope. Our method allows for detecting intracellular radicals in-situ and monitoring their real-time changes during incubation with the targeting ligands in a single living cell. We believe that our method will provide insights into the generation of radical stress in cells, which could improve our fundamental understanding of the pharmacology and signaling pathways of widely used cell- and organelle-targeting ligands associated with free radicals.

Abstract Background and Aims The worldwide health emergency sparked by the COVID‐19 pandemic has deeply shaken educational environments, posing unprecedented challenges to university students’ well‐being. While individual links between self‐esteem, hope, and well‐being are established, their combined impacts during crises remain underexplored. Our study addresses this gap by investigating the interplay among hope, self‐esteem, and life satisfaction within the context of university students navigating the challenges posed by the pandemic. Methods Conducting an online cross‐sectional self‐administered survey during Hong Kong's third pandemic wave, we measured hope, self‐esteem, and life satisfaction using validated scales. Three hundred and fifteen university students (211 females; mean age = 22.08; SD = 2.74) participated. Results Through multiple regression and mediation analyses, our findings indicate that university students with elevated hope and self‐esteem scored higher on life satisfaction measures. Specifically, our analysis revealed that self‐esteem may serve as a partial mediator in the relationship between hope and life satisfaction, highlighting how heightened hope indirectly enhances life satisfaction by strengthening self‐esteem. Conclusion This study reveals intricate relationships among hope, self‐esteem, and life satisfaction in university students, particularly during external adversities like the COVID‐19 pandemic. The implications extend to mental health interventions, emphasizing the potential benefits of cultivating hope and self‐esteem to enhance life satisfaction among university students confronting formidable challenges.

With the development of advanced pressurized water reactor technology, the thermal-hydraulic coupling effect between the containment and the primary system becomes increasingly tight. In order to meet the demand for integrated safety analysis between the containment and the primary system, this paper investigates a direct coupling method between the best-estimate system code Advanced Reactor Safety Analysis Code and the containment analysis program ATHROC (Analysis of Thermal Hydraulic Response Of Containment). The feasibility of this direct coupling method and the applicability of the coupled program for overall safety analysis are demonstrated using Marviken two-phase flow release experiments. The ATHROC/ARSAC coupled program is employed to analyze the impact of the pressure relief function of the CPR1000 nuclear power plant pressurizer on the behavior of the primary system and containment during the TMLB’ accident. The calculation results indicate that these measures can reduce the pressure of the primary system to the level acceptable by the low-pressure injection system, but at the same time, they cause the pressure in the containment to rise to nearly 0.4 MPa. Therefore, to ensure the structural integrity of the containment, it is necessary for the non-passive hydrogen recombiner to effectively reduce the hydrogen concentration, thereby avoiding additional pressure increase in the containment due to hydrogen deflagration, which could lead to overpressure failure. The findings of this study are of significant reference value for improving the safety performance of thermal-hydraulic systems in operational Gen-II and advanced Gen-III pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants.

BackgroundReaching movements are crucial for daily living and rehabilitation, for which Fitts' Law describes a speed-accuracy trade-off that movement time increases with task difficulty. This study aims to investigate whether cortical activation in motor-related areas is directly linked to task difficulty as defined by Fitts' Law. Understanding this relationship provides a physiological basis for parameter selection in therapeutic exercises.MethodsSixteen healthy subjects performed 2D reaching movements using a rehabilitation robot, with their cortical responses detected using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). Task difficulty was manipulated by varying target size and distance, resulting in 3 levels of index-of-difficulty (ID). Kinematic signals were recorded alongside cortical activity to assess the relationship among movement time, task difficulty, and cortical activation.ResultsOur results showed that movement time increased with ID by 0.2974s/bit across all subjects (conditional r2 = 0.6434, p < 0.0001), and all subjects showed individual trends conforming Fitts' Law (all p < 0.001). Neither activation in BA4 nor in BA6 showed a significant correlation with ID (p > 0.05), while both the target size and distance, as well as the interaction between them, showed a significant relationship with BA4 or BA6 activation (all p < 0.05).ConclusionThis study found that although kinematic measures supported Fitts' Law, cortical activity in motor-related areas during reaching movements did not correlate directly with task difficulty as defined by Fitts' Law. Additional factors such as muscle activation may call for different cortical control even when difficulty was identical.
