1. Study of Cosmogenic Neutron Production for $\sim$360 GeV Muons

Abstract: The China Jinping underground Laboratory (CJPL) is an excellent location for studying solar, terrestrial, and supernova neutrinos due to its 2400-meter vertical rock overburden. Its unparalleled depth gives an opportunity to investigate the cosmic-ray muons with exceptionally high average energy at $\sim360$ GeV. This paper details a study of muon-related backgrounds based on 1178 days of data collected by the 1-ton prototype neutrino detector used for the Jinping Neutrino Experiment (JNE) since 2017. The apparent effects of detectors' finite size on the measured result are first discussed in detail. The analysis of 493 cosmic-ray muon candidates and $13.6\pm5.7$ cosmogenic neutron candidates, along with a thorough evaluation of detection efficiency and uncertainties, gives a muon flux of $(3.56\pm0.16_{\mathrm{stat.}}\pm0.10_{\mathrm{syst.}})\times10^{-10}~\mathrm{cm}^{-2}\mathrm{s^{-1}}$ and a cosmogenic neutron yield of $(3.37\pm 1.41_{\mathrm{stat.}}\pm 0.31_{\mathrm{sys.}}) \times 10^{-4}~\mathrm{\mu}^{-1} \mathrm{g}^{-1} \mathrm{cm}^{2}$ in LAB-based liquid scintillator.

2. Cosmological perturbations in the energy-momentum squared gravity theory: constraints from gravitational wave standard sirens and redshift space distortions

Abstract: We investigate the linear cosmological perturbations in the context of the so-called energy-momentum squared gravity (EMSG) theory. Recent researches show that the EMSG theory can reproduce viable background cosmological evolution comparable to $\Lambda$CDM, while the matter-dominated era exhibits slight distinctions. In this paper, we mainly focus on the power-law EMSG models and derive the equations for the linear cosmological perturbations. We explore the propagation of the gravitational wave (GW) and the growth of matter density perturbation at the first order, and estimate the model parameters from the simulated GW data and the observed redshift space distortion data. Our analysis reveals that the model parameters should be small and positive in $1\sigma$ confidence interval, which indicates that the theory is in good agreement with the observational data and can be regarded as an alternative for the standard cosmological model., Comment: 11 pages, 2 figures

3. Measurement of microwave photon correlations at millikelvin with a thermal detector

Abstract: Microwave photons are important carriers of quantum information in many promising platforms for quantum computing. They can be routinely generated, controlled, and teleported in experiments, indicating a variety of applications in quantum technology. However, observation of quantum statistical properties of microwave photons remains demanding: The energy of several microwave photons is considerably smaller than the thermal fluctuation of any room-temperature detector, while amplification necessarily induces noise. Here, we present a measurement technique with a nanobolometer that directly measures the photon statistics at millikelvin and overcomes this trade-off. We apply our method to thermal states generated by a blackbody radiator operating in the regime of circuit quantum electrodynamics. We demonstrate the photon number resolvedness of the nanobolometer, and reveal the n(n+1)-scaling law of the photon number variance as indicated by the Bose--Einstein distribution. By engineering the coherent and incoherent proportions of the input field, we observe the transition between super-Poissonian and Poissonian statistics of the microwave photons from the bolometric second-order correlation measurement. This technique is poised to serve in fundamental tests of quantum mechanics with microwave photons and function as a scalable readout solution for a quantum information processor.

Abstract: We explore the bound neutrons decay into invisible particles (e.g., $n\rightarrow 3 \nu$ or $nn \rightarrow 2 \nu$) in the JUNO liquid scintillator detector. The invisible decay includes two decay modes: $ n \rightarrow { inv} $ and $ nn \rightarrow { inv} $. The invisible decays of $s$-shell neutrons in $^{12}{\rm C}$ will leave a highly excited residual nucleus. Subsequently, some de-excitation modes of the excited residual nuclei can produce a time- and space-correlated triple coincidence signal in the JUNO detector. Based on a full Monte Carlo simulation informed with the latest available data, we estimate all backgrounds, including inverse beta decay events of the reactor antineutrino $\bar{\nu}_e$, natural radioactivity, cosmogenic isotopes and neutral current interactions of atmospheric neutrinos. Pulse shape discrimination and multivariate analysis techniques are employed to further suppress backgrounds. With two years of exposure, JUNO is expected to give an order of magnitude improvement compared to the current best limits. After 10 years of data taking, the JUNO expected sensitivities at a 90% confidence level are $\tau/B( n \rightarrow { inv} ) > 5.0 \times 10^{31} \, {\rm yr}$ and $\tau/B( nn \rightarrow { inv} ) > 1.4 \times 10^{32} \, {\rm yr}$., Comment: 28 pages, 7 figures, 4 tables

5. NLO corrections to $J/\psi+c+\bar{c}$ photoproduction

Abstract: Based on the factorization framework of nonrelativistic quantum chromodynamics, we study the associated $J/\psi+c+\bar{c}$ photoproduction process at next-to-leading order in $\alpha_s$ and leading order in the velocity expansion. The total cross section and differential cross section in $p_T^2$, $W$ and $z$ are presented. Abstract: The Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) has been proposed to enable more thorough and precise measurements of the properties of Higgs, W, and Z bosons, as well as to search for new physics. In response to the stringent performance requirements of the vertex detector for the CEPC, a baseline vertex detector prototype was tested and characterized for the first time using a 6 GeV electron beam at DESY II Test Beam Line 21. The baseline vertex detector prototype is designed with a cylindrical barrel structure that contains six double-sided detector modules (ladders). Each side of the ladder includes TaichuPix-3 sensors based on Monolithic Active Pixel Sensor (MAPS) technology, a flexible printed circuit, and a carbon fiber support structure. Additionally, the readout electronics and the Data Acquisition system were also examined during this beam test. The performance of the prototype was evaluated using an electron beam that passed through six ladders in a perpendicular direction. The offline data analysis indicates a spatial resolution of about 5 um, with detection efficiency exceeding 99 % and an impact parameter resolution of about 5.1 um. These promising results from this baseline vertex detector prototype mark a significant step toward realizing the optimal vertex detector for the CEPC.

Abstract: A high precision beam monitor system based on silicon carbide PIN sensor is designed for China Spallation Neutron Source 1.6 GeV proton beam to monitor the proton beam fluence.The concept design of the beam monitor system is finished together with front-end electronics with silicon carbide PIN sensors, readout system and mechanical system.Several tests are performed to study the performance of each component of the system.The charge collection of the SiC PIN sensors after proton radiation is studied with 80 MeV proton beam for continuous running. Research on the performance of the front-end electronics and readout system is finished for better data acquisition.The uncertainty of proton beam fluence is below 1% in the beam monitor system.

13. The shadows of accelerating Kerr-Newman black hole and constraints from M87*

Abstract: In this paper, we study the influence of the parameters for the accelerating Kerr-Newman black hole on the shadows and the constraints, extensively. We find that the rotating parameter $a$, the charge parameter $e$, and the inclination angle $\theta_0$ affect the shadow qualitatively similar to that of Kerr-Newman black holes. The result shows that the size of the shadow will scale down with the accelerating factor $A$. Besides, the factor $A$ also can affect the best viewing angles, which make the observations maximum deviate from $\theta_0=\frac{\pi}{2}$, and the degree of the deviations are less than $1\%$. Then, we assume the M87* as an accelerating Kerr-Newman black hole with the mass $M=6.5\times10^9M_\odot$ and the distance $r_0=16.8Mpc$. Combining the EHT observations, we find that neither the observations, circularity deviation $\Delta C$ or axial ratio $D_x$ can distinguish the accelerating black hole or not. However, the characteristic areal-radius of the shadow curve $R_a$ can give corresponding constraints on the parameters of the accelerating Kerr-Newman black hole. The results shows that the bigger accelerating factor $A$ is, the stronger constraints on the rotating parameter $a$ and charged parameter $e$. {The maximum range of the accelerating factor is $Ar_0\leq0.558$ for a accelerating Schwarzschild case with $(a/M=e/M=0)$, and for an extremely slow accelerating case $(Ar_0\leq0.01)$, the ranges of rotating parameter $a$ and charged parameter $e$ are $a/M\in(0,1)$ and $e/M\in(0,0.9)$., Comment: 9 pages, 16figures

Abstract: The proposed Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) imposes new challenges for the vertex detector in terms of pixel size and material budget. A Monolithic Active Pixel Sensor (MAPS) prototype called TaichuPix, based on a column drain readout architecture, has been developed to address the need for high spatial resolution. In order to evaluate the performance of the TaichuPix-3 chips, a beam test was carried out at DESY II TB21 in December 2022. Meanwhile, the Data Acquisition (DAQ) for a muti-plane configuration was tested during the beam test. This work presents the characterization of the TaichuPix-3 chips with two different processes, including cluster size, spatial resolution, and detection efficiency. The analysis results indicate the spatial resolution better than 5 $\mu m$ and the detection efficiency exceeds 99.5 % for both TaichuPix-3 chips with the two different processes.

15. New approach to finding invisible states in $e^+e^-$ annihilation and application to BESIII data

Abstract: We compare precision $e^+e^-$ to $\mu^+\mu^-$ cross section measurements by BESIII in the E_cm =3.8-4.6 GeV range, to predictions based on measured R_had data. The consistency is poor (p-value <0.012). Allowing for resonance contributions not seen in R_had gives an excellent fit, with the state at 4421 MeV ( 4.6 sigma) giving insight into the psi(4415) and the 3.1 sigma structure at 4211 MeV, if confirmed, being a new, very narrow resonance. This analysis shows the power of precision $e^+e^-$ to $\mu^+\mu^-$ measurements to uncover or probe otherwise difficult to access states.

Abstract: The core-collapse supernova (CCSN) is considered one of the most energetic astrophysical events in the universe. The early and prompt detection of neutrinos before (pre-SN) and during the supernova (SN) burst presents a unique opportunity for multi-messenger observations of CCSN events. In this study, we describe the monitoring concept and present the sensitivity of the system to pre-SN and SN neutrinos at the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), a 20 kton liquid scintillator detector currently under construction in South China. The real-time monitoring system is designed to ensure both prompt alert speed and comprehensive coverage of progenitor stars. It incorporates prompt monitors on the electronic board as well as online monitors at the data acquisition stage. Assuming a false alert rate of 1 per year, this monitoring system exhibits sensitivity to pre-SN neutrinos up to a distance of approximately 1.6 (0.9) kiloparsecs and SN neutrinos up to about 370 (360) kiloparsecs for a progenitor mass of 30 solar masses, considering both normal and inverted mass ordering scenarios. The pointing ability of the CCSN is evaluated by analyzing the accumulated event anisotropy of inverse beta decay interactions from pre-SN or SN neutrinos. 19. Molecular docking via quantum approximate optimization algorithm

Abstract: Molecular docking plays a pivotal role in drug discovery and precision medicine, enabling us to understand protein functions and advance novel therapeutics. Here, we introduce a potential alternative solution to this problem, the digitized-counterdiabatic quantum approximate optimization algorithm (DC-QAOA), which utilizes counterdiabatic driving and QAOA on a quantum computer. Our method was applied to analyze diverse biological systems, including the SARS-CoV-2 Mpro complex with PM-2-020B, the DPP-4 complex with piperidine fused imidazopyridine 34, and the HIV-1 gp120 complex with JP-III-048. The DC-QAOA exhibits superior performance, providing more accurate and biologically relevant docking results, especially for larger molecular docking problems. Moreover, QAOA-based algorithms demonstrate enhanced hardware compatibility in the noisy intermediate-scale quantum era, indicating their potential for efficient implementation under practical docking scenarios. 20. Analysis of Light Attenuation Length Measurement of a High Quality Linear Alkylbenzene for the JUNO Experiment

Abstract: Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is the next generation neutrino experiment which aims at neutrino mass hierarchy problem along with many other cutting-edge studies concerning neutrinos. Located 700m underground in Jiangmen China, JUNO's central detector is an acrylic sphere filled with 20kt liquid scintillator with linear alkylbenzene(LAB) as scintillator solvent. To ensure that an unprecedented energy resolution of $\sigma_E/E \leqslant 3\%$ can be reached, LAB used in JUNO must have excellent transparency at the wavelength ranging from 350nm to 450nm. In the past decade much effort has been devoted to the development of high transparency LAB based on the measurement of light attenuation length. Through a close cooperation with Jingling Petrochemical Corporation in Nanjing, transparency of LAB samples prepared for JUNO has been improved progressively. However, this improvement is also pushing our apparatus towards approaching its measuring limit, undermining the credibility of our measurement. In order to get a result accurate and precise, an apparatus upgrading and a more detailed error analysis is inevitable. In this article, we present an analysis of how apparatus upgrading helps with decreasing measuring errors, and we conducted measurements using the new apparatus on several samples. A detailed error analysis is followed to validate the results. We propose to apply statistical methods featuring Monte Carlo simulation to estimate systematic uncertainties. Deviations caused by fit models is also considered and the overall uncertainty is obtained by combining two independent measurements. We finally report the light attenuation length of a newly improved LAB sample to be $29.90\pm 0.95$m, which gives a new high of all the preceding samples we tested. 21. Reconstruction of aether scalar tensor theory for various cosmological scenarios

Abstract: In this paper, we present several explicit reconstructions for {the aether scalar tensor (AeST) theory} derived from the background of Friedmann-Lema$\hat{\text{\i}}$tre-Robertson-Walker cosmological evolution. It is shown that the Einstein-Hilbert Lagrangian with a positive cosmological constant is the only Lagrangian capable of accurately replicating the exact expansion history of the $\Lambda$ cold dark matter ($\Lambda$CDM) universe filled solely with dust-like matter. However, the $\Lambda$CDM-era can be produced within the framework of the AeST theory for some other fluids, including a perfect fluid with $p=-(1/3)\rho$, multifluids, and nonisentropic perfect fluids. Moreover, we demonstrate that the $\Lambda$CDM-era also can be replicated with no real matter field for the AeST theory. The cosmic evolution resulting from both the power-law and de-Sitter solutions also can be obtained.

Abstract: Bile acids (BAs) affect the intestinal environment by ensuring barrier integrity, maintaining microbiota balance, regulating epithelium turnover, and modulating the immune system. As a master regulator of BA homeostasis, farnesoid X receptor (FXR) is severely compromised in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CAC). At the front line, gut macrophages react to the microbiota and metabolites that breach the epithelium. We aim to study the role of the BA/FXR axis in macrophages. This study demonstrates that inflammation-induced epithelial abnormalities compromised FXR signaling and altered BAs' profile in a mouse CAC model. Further, gut macrophage-intrinsic FXR sensed aberrant BAs, leading to pro-inflammatory cytokines' secretion, which promoted intestinal stem cell proliferation. Mechanistically, activation of FXR ameliorated intestinal inflammation and inhibited colitis-associated tumor growth, by regulating gut macrophages' recruitment, polarization, and crosstalk with Th17 cells. However, deletion of FXR in bone marrow or gut macrophages escalated the intestinal inflammation. In summary, our study reveals a distinctive regulatory role of FXR in gut macrophages, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic target for addressing IBD and CAC.

Abstract: Abstract Background Thermostability is a fundamental property of proteins to maintain their biological functions. Predicting protein stability changes upon mutation is important for our understanding protein structure–function relationship, and is also of great interest in protein engineering and pharmaceutical design. Results Here we present mutDDG-SSM, a deep learning-based framework that uses the geometric representations encoded in protein structure to predict the mutation-induced protein stability changes. mutDDG-SSM consists of two parts: a graph attention network-based protein structural feature extractor that is trained with a self-supervised learning scheme using large-scale high-resolution protein structures, and an eXtreme Gradient Boosting model-based stability change predictor with an advantage of alleviating overfitting problem. The performance of mutDDG-SSM was tested on several widely-used independent datasets. Then, myoglobin and p53 were used as case studies to illustrate the effectiveness of the model in predicting protein stability changes upon mutations. Our results show that mutDDG-SSM achieved high performance in estimating the effects of mutations on protein stability. In addition, mutDDG-SSM exhibited good unbiasedness, where the prediction accuracy on the inverse mutations is as well as that on the direct mutations. Conclusion Meaningful features can be extracted from our pre-trained model to build downstream tasks and our model may serve as a valuable tool for protein engineering and drug design.

Abstract: We discuss JUNO sensitivity to the annihilation of MeV dark matter in the galactic halo via detecting inverse beta decay reactions of electron anti-neutrinos resulting from the annihilation. We study possible backgrounds to the signature, including the reactor neutrinos, diffuse supernova neutrino background, charged- and neutral-current interactions of atmospheric neutrinos, backgrounds from muon-induced fast neutrons and cosmogenic isotopes. Abstract: Compact inductor-capacitor (LC) resonators, in contrast to coplanar waveguide (CPW) resonators, have a simple lumped-element circuit representation but usually call for sophisticated finite-element method (FEM) simulations for an accurate modelling. Here we present an simple analytical model for a family of coplanar LC resonators where the electrical properties are directly obtained from the circuit geometry with a satisfying accuracy. Our experimental results on $10$ high-internal-quality-factor resonators ($Q_{\rm i}\gtrsim 2\times 10^{5}$), with frequency ranging roughly from $300\,{\rm MHz}$ to $1\,{\rm GHz}$, show an excellent consistency with both the derived analytical model and detailed FEM simulations. These results showcase the ability to design sub-gigahertz resonators with less than $2\%$ deviation in the resonance frequency, which has immediate applications, for example, in the implementation of ultrasensitive cryogenic detectors. The achieved compact resonator size of the order of a square millimeter indicates a feasible way to integrate hundreds of microwave resonators on a single chip for realizing photonic lattices.

Abstract: The main task of the Top Tracker detector of the neutrino reactor experiment Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is to reconstruct and extrapolate atmospheric muon tracks down to the central detector. This muon tracker will help to evaluate the contribution of the cosmogenic background to the signal. The Top Tracker is located above JUNO's water Cherenkov Detector and Central Detector, covering about 60% of the surface above them. The JUNO Top Tracker is constituted by the decommissioned OPERA experiment Target Tracker modules. The technology used consists in walls of two planes of plastic scintillator strips, one per transverse direction. Wavelength shifting fibres collect the light signal emitted by the scintillator strips and guide it to both ends where it is read by multianode photomultiplier tubes. Compared to the OPERA Target Tracker, the JUNO Top Tracker uses new electronics able to cope with the high rate produced by the high rock radioactivity compared to the one in Gran Sasso underground laboratory. Abstract: The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), the first multi-kton liquid scintillator detector, which is under construction in China, will have a unique potential to perform a real-time measurement of solar neutrinos well below the few MeV threshold typical for Water Cherenkov detectors. JUNO's large target mass and excellent energy resolution are prerequisites for reaching unprecedented levels of precision. In this paper, we provide estimation of the JUNO sensitivity to 7Be, pep, and CNO solar neutrinos that can be obtained via a spectral analysis above the 0.45 MeV threshold. This study is performed assuming different scenarios of the liquid scintillator radiopurity, ranging from the most opti mistic one corresponding to the radiopurity levels obtained by the Borexino experiment, up to the minimum requirements needed to perform the neutrino mass ordering determination with reactor antineutrinos - the main goal of JUNO. Our study shows that in most scenarios, JUNO will be able to improve the current best measurements on 7Be, pep, and CNO solar neutrino fluxes. We also perform a study on the JUNO capability to detect periodical time variations in the solar neutrino flux, such as the day-night modulation induced by neutrino flavor regeneration in Earth, and the modulations induced by temperature changes driven by helioseismic waves.

Abstract: We present the design and the performance of MUX64, a 64-to-1 analogue multiplexer ASIC for the ATLAS High Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD). The MUX64 transmits one of its 64 inputs selected by six address lines for the voltages or temperatures being monitored to an lpGBT ADC channel. The prototype ASICs fabricated in TSMC 130 nm CMOS technology were prepared in wire-bonding and QFN88 packaging format. A total of 280 chips was examined for functionality and quality assurance. The accelerated aging test conducted at 85 degrees celsius shows negligible degradation over 16 days.

Abstract: Abstract The peroxisome is a versatile organelle that performs diverse metabolic functions. PEX3, a critical regulator of the peroxisome, participates in various biological processes associated with the peroxisome. Whether PEX3 is involved in peroxisome-related redox homeostasis and myocardial regenerative repair remains elusive. We investigate that cardiomyocyte-specific PEX3 knockout (Pex3-KO) results in an imbalance of redox homeostasis and disrupts the endogenous proliferation/development at different times and spatial locations. Using Pex3-KO mice and myocardium-targeted intervention approaches, the effects of PEX3 on myocardial regenerative repair during both physiological and pathological stages are explored. Mechanistically, lipid metabolomics reveals that PEX3 promotes myocardial regenerative repair by affecting plasmalogen metabolism. Further, we find that PEX3-regulated plasmalogen activates the AKT/GSK3β signaling pathway via the plasma membrane localization of ITGB3. Our study indicates that PEX3 may represent a novel therapeutic target for myocardial regenerative repair following injury.

Abstract: China Jinping Underground Laboratory provides an ideal site for solar, geo-, and supernova neutrino studies. With a prototype neutrino detector running since 2017, containing 1-ton liquid scintillator, we tested its experimental hardware, performed the detector calibration and simulation, and measured its radioactive backgrounds, as an early stage of the Jinping Neutrino Experiment (JNE). We investigated the radon background and implemented the nitrogen sealing technology to control it. This paper presents the details of these studies and will serve as a key reference for the construction and optimization of the future large detector of JNE.

38. Kidney and Kidney Tumour Segmentation in CT Images

Abstract: Automatic segmentation of kidney and kidney tumour in Computed Tomography (CT) images is essential, as it uses less time as compared to the current gold standard of manual segmentation. However, many hospitals are still reliant on manual study and segmentation of CT images by medical practitioners because of its higher accuracy. Thus, this study focuses on the development of an approach for automatic kidney and kidney tumour segmentation in contrast-enhanced CT images. A method based on Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) was proposed, where a 3D U-Net segmentation model was developed and trained to delineate the kidney and kidney tumour from CT scans. Each CT image was pre-processed before inputting to the CNN, and the effect of down-sampled and patch-wise input images on the model performance was analysed. The proposed method was evaluated on the publicly available 2021 Kidney and Kidney Tumour Segmentation Challenge (KiTS21) dataset. The method with the best performing model recorded an average training Dice score of 0.6129, with the kidney and kidney tumour Dice scores of 0.7923 and 0.4344, respectively. For testing, the model obtained a kidney Dice score of 0.8034, and a kidney tumour Dice score of 0.4713, with an average Dice score of 0.6374.

39. Probing a polymerized black hole with the frequency shifts of photons

Abstract: As is well-known, black hole plays an important role in probing the quantum effects of gravity in the strong-field regime. In this paper, we focus on a polymerized black hole and investigate the quantum effects on the redshift, blueshift and gravitational redshift of photons emitted by massive particles revolving around this black hole. With a general relativistic formalism, we obtain two elegant and concise expressions for the mass of the black hole and the quantum parameter in terms of few direct observables, and find that all the frequency shifts of photons decrease with the quantum parameter. By expanding the total frequency shift for large orbit of the emitter, low peculiar redshift, and small azimuthal angle, we find that the leading contributions to the frequency shift are originated from the kinematic shift and peculiar shift, and the quantum effects make a negligible contribution. In addition, we study the effects of the plasma on the redshift/blueshift for the first time, and conclude that the presence of plasma results in the decrease of the redshift/blueshift., Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures; published in Physical Review D

Abstract: The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is a large liquid scintillator detector designed to explore many topics in fundamental physics. In this paper, the potential on searching for proton decay in $p\to \bar\nu K^+$ mode with JUNO is investigated.The kaon and its decay particles feature a clear three-fold coincidence signature that results in a high efficiency for identification. Moreover, the excellent energy resolution of JUNO permits to suppress the sizable background caused by other delayed signals. Based on these advantages, the detection efficiency for the proton decay via $p\to \bar\nu K^+$ is 36.9% with a background level of 0.2 events after 10 years of data taking. Abstract: The lithium chloride aqueous solution has great potential to be the detection medium of a novel solar neutrino detector. The nuclide \ce{^7 Li} provides a charged-current interaction channel with a high cross-section for the MeV-scale solar electron-neutrinos, enabling measurement of the solar neutrino spectrum. This work measures the optical properties and the light yields of a saturated lithium chloride solution. After adsorption with activated carbon and recrystallization, the solution shows little absorption in the sensitive wavelength range of the bialkali photomultipliers. The attenuation length is evaluated to reach 50 meters at 430 nm. In addition to being a pure Cherenkov detector medium, a wavelength shifter, carbostyril 124, is added to the LiCl aqueous solution. The compatibility and the enhancement of the light yield are confirmed, enabling the development of a water-based Cherenkov-enhanced lithium-rich detector., Comment: 12 pages, 8 figures. 42. Breast cancer colonization by Malassezia globosa accelerates tumor growth

Abstract: ABSTRACT Malassezia globosa is a lipophilic basidiomycetous yeast that occurs abundantly in breast tumors and that may contribute to a shortened overall survival of breast cancer (BRAC) patients, suggesting that the yeast may participate in the carcinogenesis of BRAC. However, the mechanisms involved in the M. globosa-based acceleration of BRAC are unknown. Here, we show that M. globosa can colonize mammary tissue in 7,12-dimethylbenz[a] anthracene-induced mice. The abundance of M. globosa shortened the overall survival and increased the tumor incidence. Transcriptome data illustrated that IL-17A plays a key role in tumor growth due to M. globosa colonization, and tumor-associated macrophage infiltration was elevated during M. globosa colonization which triggers M2 polarization of macrophages via toll-like receptors 4/nuclear factor kappa-B (Nf-κB) signaling. Our results show that the expression of sphingosine kinase 1 (Sphk1) is increased in breast tumors after inoculation with M. globosa. Moreover, we discovered that Sphk1-specific small interfering RNA blocked the formation of lipid droplets, which can effectively alleviate the expression of the signal transducer and activator of the transcription 3 (STAT3)/Nf-κB pathway. Taken together, our results demonstrate that M. globosa could be a possible factor for the progression of BRAC. The mechanisms by which M. globosa promotes BRAC development involve the IL-17A/macrophage axis. Meanwhile, Sphk1 overexpression was induced by M. globosa infection, which also promoted the proliferation of MCF-7 cells.IMPORTANCELiterature has suggested that Malassezia globosa is associated with breast tumors; however, this association has not been confirmed. Here, we found that M. globosa colonizes in breast fat pads leading to tumor growth. As a lipophilic yeast, the expression of sphingosine kinase 1 (Sphk1) was upregulated to promote tumor growth after M. globosa colonization. Moreover, the IL-17A/macrophages axis plays a key role in mechanisms involved in the M. globosa-induced breast cancer acceleration from the tumor immune microenvironment perspective.

Abstract: Cardiomyocyte loss and myocardial fibrosis are major determinants of myocardial infarction (MI) pathological changes. Mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-derived exosomes (exos) and Danshen decoction (DSY) have been demonstrated to mediate cardiac repair following MI. BM-MSCs exos or BM-MSCsDSY exos were intramuscularly injected into post-MI rats. On the 7th, 14th and 28th days, serum CK, LDH, α-HBDH, ALT, and AST were measured and electrocardiogram changes were monitored to identify cardiac function; Triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining, Hematein&Eosin staining, Masson trichrome staining and Transmission Electron Microscope were adopted to analyze infarct area, cardiac morphology, histopathology, and fibrosis and cardiomyocyte ultrastructure; TUNEL assay, real-time PCR and western blot were performed to detect cardiomyocyte apoptosis and autophagy. As a result, BMMSCsDSY exos are superior to BM‐MSCs‐exos in improvement of cardiac function, morphology, histopathology and cardiomyocyte ultrastructure, as well as in reduction of infarction area and cardiac fibrosis by inhibiting apoptosis and promoting autophagy of cardiomyocytes.

44. Microbial mechanism of soil carbon emission reduction in maize-pea intercropping system with no tillage in arid land areas of northwestern China

Abstract: Reducing carbon emissions from agricultural soils contributes to global greenhouse mitigation. Although the integration of no-tillage practices into maize/pea intercropping systems can achieve this reduction, the specific microbial mechanisms involved remain unclear. This study aimed to explore the effects of integrating maize/pea intercropping and no-tillage technologies on soil carbon emissions and microbial communities. The results indicated that intercropping no-till maize with peas reduced the average soil respiration rates by 19%. In 2021 and 2022, intercropping no-till maize with peas decreased soil carbon emissions by 25.1 and 30.4%, respectively. This practice resulted in a reduction of soil microbiota carbon and nitrogen by 26.9 and 19.7%, respectively, while simultaneously increasing the soil microbial gene beta diversity. Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, Planctomycetes, Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, and Acidobacteria collectively represented over 95% of the population and were predominant across all treatments. Intercropping no-till maize with peas decreased the abundance of carbohydrate-active enzymes in the soil. The structural equation modeling indicated that combined no-tillage and intercropping practices effectively decreased soil carbon emissions by modulating the community structure of soil microorganisms. This affected the abundance of carbohydrate-active enzymes and carbon-metabolizing genes in the soil. This study indicated that no-tillage and intercropping methods contributed to carbon reduction by influencing soil microbes. This study can provide microbial-level insights for refining agronomic practices to mitigate soil carbon emissions.

Abstract: The physics potential of detecting $^8$B solar neutrinos will be exploited at the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), in a model independent manner by using three distinct channels of the charged-current (CC), neutral-current (NC) and elastic scattering (ES) interactions. Due to the largest-ever mass of $^{13}$C nuclei in the liquid-scintillator detectors and the {expected} low background level, $^8$B solar neutrinos would be observable in the CC and NC interactions on $^{13}$C for the first time. By virtue of optimized event selections and muon veto strategies, backgrounds from the accidental coincidence, muon-induced isotopes, and external backgrounds can be greatly suppressed. Excellent signal-to-background ratios can be achieved in the CC, NC and ES channels to guarantee the $^8$B solar neutrino observation. From the sensitivity studies performed in this work, we show that JUNO, with ten years of data, can reach the {1$\sigma$} precision levels of 5%, 8% and 20% for the $^8$B neutrino flux, $\sin^2\theta_{12}$, and $\Delta m^2_{21}$, respectively. It would be unique and helpful to probe the details of both solar physics and neutrino physics. 48. Quantum Optimal Control without Arbitrary Waveform Generators

Abstract: Simple, precise, and robust control is demanded for operating a large quantum information processor. However, existing routes to high-fidelity quantum control rely heavily on arbitrary waveform generators that are difficult to scale up. Here, we show that arbitrary control of a quantum system can be achieved by simply turning on and off the control fields in a proper sequence. The switching instances can be designed by conventional quantum optimal control algorithms, while the required computational resources for matrix exponential can be substantially reduced. We demonstrate the flexibility and robustness of the resulting control protocol, and apply it to superconducting quantum circuits for illustration. We expect this proposal to be readily achievable with current semiconductor and superconductor technologies, which offers a significant step towards scalable quantum computing.

50. Incidence and risk factors for pulmonary hemorrhage after percutaneous CT-guided pulmonary nodule biopsy: an observational study

Abstract: Abstract To evaluate the current incidence of pulmonary hemorrhage and the potential factors contributing to its increased risk after percutaneous CT-guided pulmonary nodule biopsy and to summarize the technical recommendations for its treatment. In this observational study, patient data were collected from ten medical centers from April 2021 to April 2022. The incidence of pulmonary hemorrhage was as follows: grade 0, 36.1% (214/593); grade 1, 36.8% (218/593); grade 2, 18.9% (112/593); grade 3, 3.5% (21/593); and grade 4, 4.7% (28/593). High-grade hemorrhage (HGH) occurred in 27.2% (161/593) of the patients. The use of preoperative breathing exercises (PBE, p =0.000), semiautomatic cutting needles (SCN, p = 0.004), immediate contrast enhancement (ICE, p =0.021), and the coaxial technique (CoT, p = 0.000) were found to be protective factors for HGH. A greater length of puncture (p =0.021), the presence of hilar nodules (p = 0.001), the presence of intermediate nodules (p = 0.026), a main pulmonary artery diameter (mPAD) larger than 29 mm (p = 0.015), and a small nodule size (p = 0.014) were risk factors for high-grade hemorrhage. The area under the curve (AUC) was 0.783. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the risks associated with percutaneous CT-guided pulmonary nodule biopsy and provide valuable insights for developing strategies to minimize pulmonary hemorrhage.
