We present MicroCinema, a straightforward yet effective framework for high-quality and coherent text-to-video generation. Unlike existing approaches that align text prompts with video directly, MicroCinema introduces a Divide-and-Conquer strategy which divides the text-to-video into a two-stage process: text-to-image generation and image\&text-to-video generation. This strategy offers two significant advantages. a) It allows us to take full advantage of the recent advances in text-to-image models, such as Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, and DALLE, to generate photorealistic and highly detailed images. b) Leveraging the generated image, the model can allocate less focus to fine-grained appearance details, prioritizing the efficient learning of motion dynamics. To implement this strategy effectively, we introduce two core designs. First, we propose the Appearance Injection Network, enhancing the preservation of the appearance of the given image. Second, we introduce the Appearance Noise Prior, a novel mechanism aimed at maintaining the capabilities of pre-trained 2D diffusion models. These design elements empower MicroCinema to generate high-quality videos with precise motion, guided by the provided text prompts. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of the proposed framework. Concretely, MicroCinema achieves SOTA zero-shot FVD of 342.86 on UCF-101 and 377.40 on MSR-VTT. 5. Bilateral meibomian gland morphological alterations in unilateral herpes simplex keratitis based on artificial intelligence analysis

AIM: To explore whether unilateral herpes simplex keratitis (HSK) can cause morphological changes of bilateral meibomian glands (MGs) based on artificial intelligence (AI) analytical system. METHODS: In the retrospective study, 29 patients with unilateral HSK and 29 participants matched in terms of age and sex were included as control group. Meibographic images of the upper eyelid using Keratograph 5M and assessed ocular surface parameters including tear meniscus height and tear break-up time. MG density and vagueness values were automatically analyzed and calculated using an AI analytical system. We compared the differences between the affected and the contralateral unaffected eyes in HSK patients, and the normal control eyes. We employed either the paired t-test or the Wilcoxon signed-rank test to compare significant difference between the affected and unaffected eyes in HSK patients or between the HSK group and control group. RESULTS: The MG density was 0.19±0.09 in the HSK-affected eye and 0.18±0.07 in contralateral unaffected eye, which had no significant difference (P=0.616). The MG density between the affected eye with HSK and the normal control group was statistically significant (P=0.028). There was a significant difference in MG density between the contralateral unaffected eye and the normal control group (P=0.012). However, no significant difference in vagueness value was observed between the eye with HSK and the control group or between HSK eye and contralateral eye. CONCLUSION: The MG density between the HSK-affected eye and the contralateral unaffected eye don't significantly differ, whereas there is a significant decrease in the HSK group compared to that of the normal participants. Unilateral HSV keratitis may suffer from bilateral changes of MG morphology indicating bilateral dry eye. Therefore, the fellow eye of patients with unilateral HSK should be considered a potential case of MG dysfunction, necessitating early treatment for bilateral dry eye in the clinic.

6. CRBPSA: CircRNA-RBP interaction sites identification using sequence structural attention model

Abstract Background Due to the ability of circRNA to bind with corresponding RBPs and play a critical role in gene regulation and disease prevention, numerous identification algorithms have been developed. Nevertheless, most of the current mainstream methods primarily capture one-dimensional sequence features through various descriptors, while neglecting the effective extraction of secondary structure features. Moreover, as the number of introduced descriptors increases, the issues of sparsity and ineffective representation also rise, causing a significant burden on computational models and leaving room for improvement in predictive performance. Results Based on this, we focused on capturing the features of secondary structure in sequences and developed a new architecture called CRBPSA, which is based on a sequence-structure attention mechanism. Firstly, a base-pairing matrix is generated by calculating the matching probability between each base, with a Gaussian function introduced as a weight to construct the secondary structure. Then, a Structure_Transformer is employed to extract base-pairing information and spatial positional dependencies, enabling the identification of binding sites through deeper feature extraction. Experimental results using the same set of hyperparameters on 37 circRNA datasets, totaling 671,952 samples, show that the CRBPSA algorithm achieves an average AUC of 99.93%, surpassing all existing prediction methods. Conclusions CRBPSA is a lightweight and efficient prediction tool for circRNA-RBP, which can capture structural features of sequences with minimal computational resources and accurately predict protein-binding sites. This tool facilitates a deeper understanding of the biological processes and mechanisms underlying circRNA and protein interactions.

In this paper, we provide an experimental proof-of-concept of this dynamic 3D current manipulation through a 3D-printed reconfigurable meta-radiator with periodically slotted current elements. By utilizing the working frequency and the mechanical configuration comprehensively, the radiation pattern can be switched among 12 states. Inspired by maximum likelihood method in digital communications, a robustness-analysis method is proposed to evaluate the potential error ratio between ideal cases and practice. Our work provides a previously unidentified model for next-generation information distribution and terahertz-infrared wireless communications.

Laser cutting of semiconductor wafers and transparent dielectrics has become a dominant process in manufacturing industries, encompassing a wide range of applications from flat display panels to microelectronic chips. Limited by the diffraction barrier imposed on the beam width and its longitudinal extend of laser focus, a trade-off must be made between cutting accuracy and aspect ratio in conventional laser processing, with accuracy typically approaching a micron and the aspect ratio on the order of $10^2$. Herein, we propose a method to circumvent this limitation. It is based on the laser modification induced by a back-scattering interference crawling mechanism, which creates a positive feedback for homogenizing longitudinal energy deposition and lateral sub-wavelength light confinement during laser-matter interaction. Consequently, cutting width on the scale of tens of nanometers and aspect ratio $10^3 \sim 10^4$ were simultaneously achieved. We refer to this technique as ``super stealth dicing'', which is validated through numerical simulations, ensuring its broad applicability. It can be applied to various transparent functional solids, such as glass, laser crystal, ferroelectric, and semiconductor, and is elevating the precision of future advanced laser dicing, patterning, and drilling into the nanometric era., Comment: 32 pages, 5 figures

9. A Single-Sized Metasurface for Image Steganography and Multi-Key Information Encryption

With the escalating flow of information and digital communication, information security has become an increasingly important issue. Traditional cryptographic methods are being threatened by advancing progress in computing, while physical encryption methods are favored as a viable and compelling avenue. Metasurfaces, which are known for their extraordinary ability to manipulate optical parameters at the nanoscale, exhibit significant potential for the revolution of optical devices, making them a highly promising candidate for optical encryption applications. Here, a single-sized metasurface with four independent channels is proposed for conducting steganography and multi-key information encryption. More specifically, plaintext is transformed into a ciphertext image, which is encoded into a metasurface, while the decryption key is discretely integrated into another channel within the same metasurface. Two different keys for steganographic image unveiling are also encoded into the metasurface and can be retrieved with different channels and spatial positions. This distributed multi-key encryption approach can enhance security, while strategically distributing images across distinct spatial zones serves as an additional measure to reduce the risk of information leakage. This minimalist designed metasurface, with its advantages of high information density and robust security, holds promise across applications including portable encryption, high-camouflaged image display, and high-density optical storage.

Abstract Non-Abelian Thouless pumps are periodically driven systems designed by the non-Abelian holonomy principle, in which quantized transport of degenerate eigenstates emerges, exhibiting noncommutative features such that the outcome depends on the pumping sequence. The study of non-Abelian Thouless pump is currently restricted to 1D systems, while extending it to higher-dimensional systems will not only provide effective means to probe non-Abelian physics in high-dimensional topological systems, but also expand the dimension and type of associated non-Abelian geometric phase matrix for potential applications. Here, we propose the design and experimental realization of 2D non-Abelian Thouless pumps on a photonic chip with 2D photonic waveguide arrays, where degenerate photonic modes are topologically pumped simultaneously along two real-space directions. We reveal the associated non-Abelian group and experimentally demonstrate the non-Abelian feature by measuring the pumping sequence dependent output. The proposed 2D non-Abelian Thouless pump shows promising applications for robust optical interconnections and optical computing.

Abstract A plane blackbody serves as a standard radiation source, providing a precise quantitative relationship between input radiation and the output of infrared detectors, which is essential component of space infrared remote sensing instruments. However, current plane blackbodies fabricated by coating or surface structuring are unable to achieve uniform and stable high absorption in the ultrawide spectral range spanning the UV‐VIS‐NIR‐MIR. Here, a femtosecond laser “V”‐ scanning method is proposed for the fabrication of cross‐scale multi‐layered micro‐ and nanocomposite structures on copper surfaces to realize ultrawide spectrum metallic plane blackbody with high absorption. The structures consist of a micrometer cone‐tip structure with a depth‐to‐width ratio of 7:1 (period 30 µm, depth 210 µm), an oxide layer with a thickness of more than 2 µm, and nanoparticles of different sizes, achieving uniform high absorption rates exceeding 99% in the localized spectral range of 400–700 nm and over 98% from the UV to MIR range of 200 nm to 25 µm. This strategy offers a generalized approach to enhance surface light absorption, with significant application potential in infrared calibration, passive radiation cooling, and stray light suppression.

Inert (noble gas) elements are extremely inactive to surrounding chemical environment and are frequently employed as protective gas in various semiconductor fabrication processes. In this work, we surprisingly discover that high doses of argon up to $10^{17}-10^{20} cm^{-3}$ can be measured in silicon exposed by laser pulses even after 1300 days. First-principles calculations and molecular dynamics identify a unique argon-locking-vacancy (ALV) defect atomic model in silicon. The ALV defect is dynamically robust in contrast to the frequently moving pure Si vacancy. While argon is chemically inert, it readily modulates defect states of the occupied vacancy via steric repulsion and rattling motions, leading to significant band splitting within bandgap and thus strong infrared absorptions. Moreover, the repulsion between substitutional argon and dangling bonds results in shallow donors which explains the confusion of enhanced n-type carriers in experiments. The work paves a way of using noble gas element to produce active infrared absorption source for the non-heteroepitaxy photonic detectors directly on silicon wafer at infrared communication wavelength.

This study examined how personality influences consumer behavior of electronic game players. Participants ( N = 479) were respectively placed into four groups called microtransaction group (if they had made any in-game microtransactions, n = 192), free-game group (if they had only played entirely free games, n = 124), pay-to-play group (if they had only played games that needed just one-time payment upon purchase, n = 19), and non-microtransaction group (if they had not made any in-game microtransactions although the games provided such services, n = 144). The results indicated that the microtransaction group had higher levels of extraversion and openness than the non-microtransaction group. Additionally, the microtransaction group showed higher levels of dispositional greed and narcissism than all other groups. However, there were no significant differences in agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, or self-control among the groups. The study also found that the possibility of making in-game microtransactions decreased with age. These findings have important implications for game developers and marketers, who may use this information to tailor their products and marketing strategies to specific personality types and age groups.

Abstract Background Single-cell clustering has played an important role in exploring the molecular mechanisms about cell differentiation and human diseases. Due to highly-stochastic transcriptomics data, accurate detection of cell types is still challenged, especially for RNA-sequencing data from human beings. In this case, deep neural networks have been increasingly employed to mine cell type specific patterns and have outperformed statistic approaches in cell clustering. Results Using cross-correlation to capture gene–gene interactions, this study proposes the scCompressSA method to integrate topological patterns from scRNA-seq data, with support of self-attention (SA) based coefficient compression (CC) block. This SA-based CC block is able to extract and employ static gene–gene interactions from scRNA-seq data. This proposed scCompressSA method has enhanced clustering accuracy in multiple benchmark scRNA-seq datasets by integrating topological and temporal features. Conclusion Static gene–gene interactions have been extracted as temporal features to boost clustering performance in single-cell clustering For the scCompressSA method, dual-channel SA based CC block is able to integrate topological features and has exhibited extraordinary detection accuracy compared with previous clustering approaches that only employ temporal patterns.

Aiming at the difficulty in detecting concealed geological isomers using conventional geophysical method in ultra-wide coal working face, the electromagnetic response mechanism of mine transient electromagnetic (TEM) perspective detection with opposite side emission and reception is revealed in this study. The electromagnetic field diffusion characteristics, data influence mechanism and detection capability of transient electromagnetic perspective detection technology are studied in detail by means of theoretical research, numerical simulation and analysis of measured data. The results show that the transient electromagnetic field diffusion of the full-space elongated emission loop is different from that of the half-space electromagnetic field diffusion due to the boundary between ground and air. In the full-space state, the extreme value of the induced electromotive force (EMF) is located in the center of the emission coil for a long time, which cannot be interpreted directly by using the ground ‘smoke ring effect’. The early transient electromagnetic perspective data transmitted and received on the opposite side are mainly affected by the primary magnetic field and have high resolution and detection ability of left and right low resistance anomalies. The late data and the same-side transmitting and receiving data have the same generation mechanism, both them are formed by mutual induction and diffusion of secondary fields generated near the transmitting loop, and their resolution and detection ability are relatively weak. Compared with the transient electromagnetic method, this technology can distinguish the spatial position of the low-resistance anomaly relative to the transmitting loop and the receiving point by combining early and late data. The closer the low resistivity anomaly body is to the transmitter loop, the greater the impact on the early data received at the opposite side, and the impact time period of the late data increases, but the degree of influence is smaller. On the contrary, the closer it is to the receiving point in the roadway, the opposite the impact characteristics are. Therefore, the approximate position of the low-resistance anomaly body along the working face can be roughly determined. The transient electromagnetic perspective detection technology, which combines early and late data, can more accurately interpret the spatial information of hidden water inrush geological isomers which are inside and near the working face.

The manipulation of micro/nanostructures to customise their inherent material characteristics has garnered considerable attention. In this study, we present the selective activation of gallium arsenide (GaAs) via ultrafast laser-induced decomposition, which correlates with the emergence of ripples on the surface. This instigated a pronounced enrichment in the arsenic (As) concentration around the surface while inducing a depletion of gallium (Ga) at the structural depth. Theoretical simulations based on first principles exhibited a robust inclination towards the phase separation of GaAs, with the gasification of As–As pairs proving more facile than that of Ga–Ga pairs, particularly above the melting point of GaAs. As an illustrative application, a metal-semiconductor hybrid surface was confirmed, showing surface chemical bonding and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) through the reduction of silver ions on the laser-activated pattern. This laser-induced selective activation holds promise for broader applications, including the controlled growth of Pd and the development of Au/Ag alloy-based platforms, and thereby opens innovative avenues for advancements in semiconductors, solar cell technologies, precision sensing, and detection methodologies.

Abstract Background In recent years, the development of adjunctive therapeutic hyperthermia for cancer therapy has received considerable attention. However, the mechanisms underlying hyperthermia resistance are still poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the roles of cold‑inducible RNA binding protein (Cirbp) in regulating hyperthermia resistance and underlying mechanisms in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Methods CCK-8 assay, colony formation assay, tumor sphere formation assay, qRT-PCR, Western blot were employed to examine the effects of hyperthermia (HT), HT + oridonin(Ori) or HT + radiotherapy (RT) on the proliferation and stemness of NPC cells. RNA sequencing was applied to gain differentially expressed genes upon hyperthermia. Gain-of-function and loss-of-function experiments were used to evaluate the effects of RNAi-mediated Cirbp silencing or Cirbp overexpression on the sensitivity or resistance of NPC cells and cancer stem-like cells to hyperthermia by CCK-8 assay, colony formation assay, tumorsphere formation assay and apoptosis assay, and in subcutaneous xenograft animal model. miRNA transient transfection and luciferase reporter assay were used to demonstrate that Cirbp is a direct target of miR-377-3p. The phosphorylation levels of key members in ATM-Chk2 and ATR-Chk1 pathways were detected by Western blot. Results Our results firstly revealed that hyperthermia significantly attenuated the stemness of NPC cells, while combination treatment of hyperthermia and oridonin dramatically increased the killing effect on NPC cells and cancer stem cell (CSC)‑like population. Moreover, hyperthermia substantially improved the sensitivity of radiation‑resistant NPC cells and CSC‑like cells to radiotherapy. Hyperthermia noticeably suppressed Cirbp expression in NPC cells and xenograft tumor tissues. Furthermore, Cirbp inhibition remarkably boosted anti‑tumor‑killing activity of hyperthermia against NPC cells and CSC‑like cells, whereas ectopic expression of Cirbp compromised tumor‑killing effect of hyperthermia on these cells, indicating that Cirbp overexpression induces hyperthermia resistance. ThermomiR-377-3p improved the sensitivity of NPC cells and CSC‑like cells to hyperthermia in vitro by directly suppressing Cirbp expression. More importantly, our results displayed the significantly boosted sensitization of tumor xenografts to hyperthermia by Cirbp silencing in vivo, but ectopic expression of Cirbp almost completely counteracted hyperthermia-mediated tumor cell-killing effect against tumor xenografts in vivo. Mechanistically, Cirbp silencing-induced inhibition of DNA damage repair by inactivating ATM-Chk2 and ATR-Chk1 pathways, decrease in stemness and increase in cell death contributed to hyperthermic sensitization; conversely, Cirbp overexpression-induced promotion of DNA damage repair, increase in stemness and decrease in cell apoptosis contributed to hyperthermia resistance. Conclusion Taken together, these findings reveal a previously unrecognized role for Cirbp in positively regulating hyperthermia resistance and suggest that thermomiR-377-3p and its target gene Cirbp represent promising targets for therapeutic hyperthermia.

The development of modern information technology has led to significant demand for microoptical elements with complex surface profiles and nanoscale surface roughness. Therefore, various micro- and nanoprocessing techniques are used to fabricate microoptical elements and systems. Femtosecond laser direct writing (FsLDW) uses ultrafast pulses and the ultraintense instantaneous energy of a femtosecond laser for micro-nano fabrication. FsLDW exhibits various excellent properties, including nonlinear multiphoton absorption, high-precision processing beyond the diffraction limit, and the universality of processable materials, demonstrating its unique advantages and potential applications in three-dimensional (3D) micro-nano manufacturing. FsLDW has demonstrated its value in the fabrication of various microoptical systems. This study details three typical principles of FsLDW, several design considerations to improve processing performance, processable materials, imaging/nonimaging microoptical elements, and their stereoscopic systems. Finally, a summary and perspective on the future research directions for FsLDW-enabled microoptical elements and stereoscopic systems are provided.

The demand for fast optical image acquisition without movable optical elements (e.g., for self-driving car technology) can be met using bioinspired 3D compound eyes. 3D laser processing strategies enable designable 3D structuring but suffer from low fabrication efficiency, which significantly limits their applications in producing complex 3D optical devices. Herein, we demonstrate a versatile yet simple wet-etching-assisted holographic laser fabrication method for the development of 3D compound eyes. Artificial compound μ-eyes can be readily fabricated by programming a 3D spot array for the parallel ablation of a curved fused silica surface, followed by controllable etching in a hydrofluoric (HF) acid solution. A 3D-concave-lens array made on a curved surface over an area of 100 μm cross-section with each lenslet of 10 μm radius was fabricated with high fidelity and excellent imaging/focusing quality. The resultant 3D-concave-lens can serve as a hard template for the mass production of soft compound eyes through soft lithography. Additionally, using a generative adversarial network (GAN)-based deep learning algorithm, image restoration was conducted for each lenslet, which retained a large field of view and significantly improved image quality. This method provides a simple solution to the requirements of compound μ-eyes required by Industry 4.0.

Non-Abelian braiding has attracted significant attention because of its pivotal role in describing the exchange behaviors of anyons--a candidate for realizing quantum logics. The input and outcome of non-Abelian braiding are connected by a unitary matrix which can also physically emerge as a geometric-phase matrix in classical systems. Hence it is predicted that non-Abelian braiding should have analogues in photonics, but a feasible platform and the experimental realization remain out of reach. Here, we propose and experimentally realize an on-chip photonic system that achieves the non-Abelian braiding of up to five photonic modes. The braiding is realized by controlling the multi-mode geometric-phase matrix in judiciously designed photonic waveguide arrays. The quintessential effect of braiding--sequence-dependent swapping of photon dwell sites is observed in both classical-light and single-photon experiments. Our photonic chips are a versatile and expandable platform for studying non-Abelian physics, and we expect the results to motivate next-gen non-Abelian photonic devices., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

Huaier, derived from the fungus on Sophora japonica trees, is a fruiting body belonging to Polyporaceae family. Traditionally, it has been utilized for treating hemorrhoids and rectal bleeding. As a medicine food homology herb, its remarkable immune-regulating properties have led to widespread adoption in digestive system tumors in recent years. Currently, over 502 compounds, excluding polysaccharides, have been isolated from Huaier exhibiting diverse biological activities and medicinal value. Clinically, Huaier has demonstrated effectiveness against digestive system tumors. Mechanistic studies suggested that Huaier may exert its antitumor effects by bolstering immunity, inducing tumor cell death, inhibiting tumor proliferation, migration, invasion, metastasis, and dampening inflammatory cancer transformation. The abundance of active ingredients underscores Huaier's potential as an anticancer agent. Both its clinical application and mechanistic investigations highlight its significant promise in addressing digestive system tumors.

Introduction: Urban contraction brings about certain impacts on the advancement of urbanization.Methods: This paper explores the coupling coordination (CCD) and geographical distribution of land urbanization (LU) and population urbanization (PU) in Jiangsu Province through a CCD model and a spatial autocorrelation model from the perspective of shrinking cities. The Panel Vector Autoregression (PVAR) model is constructed to deeply investigate the complex interaction between the PU-LU in 13 cities, 2007-2020.Results: The study found that the PU-LU CCD in each of the above-mentioned cities shows a synergistic incremental evolution during the study period in terms of time series. In addition, in terms of spatial characteristics, the CCD of PU and LU shows significant positive global spatial autocorrelation, and the CCD of cities with high population size growth is much larger than that of cities with continuous population size. Last, there is an interactive response relationship between PU and LU. PU influences LU, however, PU itself is influenced by its own system’s internal structure. The impact of PU on LU shows a positive cumulative effect of the “inverted U shape.”Discussion: Furthermore, this paper proposes that policies be created to ensure the coordinated growth of PU-LU based on the differences in resource endowments of cities with 3 types of urban shrinkage. The link between floating population and construction land for cities should be established through enhancing the extent of intensive land use and reforming household registration.

PurposeThis systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the efficacy of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in postherpetic neuralgia (PHN).MethodsThrough an extensive search in four databases until October 2023, we selected five randomized controlled trials adhering to our specific criteria, involving 257 patients in total. For continuous outcomes, the standardized mean difference (SMD) was calculated. Heterogeneity among the studies was assessed using Cochran’s I2 and Q statistics, adopting a random-effects model for I2 values over 50%. For assessing potential publication bias, we utilized both funnel plot and Egger’s test.ResultsOur analysis found that rTMS reduced the overall visual analogue scale (VAS) (SMD: −1.52, 95% CI: −2.81 to −0.23, p = 0.02), VAS at 1 month post-treatment (SMD: −2.21, 95% CI: −4.31 to −0.10, p = 0.04), VAS at 3 months post-treatment (SMD: −1.51, 95% CI: −2.81 to −0.22, p = 0.02), as well as patients’ global impression of change scale (PGIC) (SMD: −1.48, 95% CI: −2.87 to −0.09, p = 0.04) and short-form McGill pain questionnaire (SF-MPQ) (SMD: −1.25, 95% CI: −2.41 to −0.09, p = 0.03) compared to the sham-rTMS group.ConclusionOur study suggests that rTMS might have a potential alleviating effect on PHN symptoms. The abuse of nitrous oxide (N2O) poses a substantial public health challenge. In many countries, including China, regulations governing the utilization and accessibility to N2O remain ambiguous, particularly within the food industry. Here, we report a case of a 21-year-old female who presented with symptoms of subacute combined degeneration (SCD) of the spinal cord due to N2O abuse. The patient exhibited bilateral lower limb numbness and weakness, low serum vitamin B12 levels with elevated homocysteine levels, and lumbar spine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed abnormal signals of the spinal cord. Following cessation of N2O and comprehensive therapy including methylcobalamin and nerve growth factor, the symptoms significantly improved. A follow-up examination 3 months later showed good progress in gait stability. At a 5-year follow-up, the patient’s previous clinical symptoms had completely disappeared, and her quality of life had returned to normal. This case underscores the urgency of raising awareness and prevention of N2O abuse, emphasizing the importance of timely diagnosis and comprehensive treatment for patient recovery. Clear formulation and enforcement of relevant regulatory measures are equally crucial in reducing instances of abuse.

Photonic topological states, providing light-manipulation approaches in robust manners, have attracted intense attention. Connecting photonic topological states with far-field degrees of freedom(DoFs) has given rise to fruitful phenomena. Recently emerged higher-order topological insulators (HOTIs), hosting boundary states two or more dimensions lower than those of bulk, offer new paradigms to localize/transport light topologically in extended dimensionalities. However, photonic HOTIs have not been related to DoFs of radiation fields yet. Here, we report the observation of polarization-orthogonal second-order topological corner states at different frequencies on a designer-plasmonic Kagome metasurface in the far field.Such phenomenon stands on two mechanisms, i.e., projecting the far-field polarizations to the intrinsic parity DoFs of lattice modes and the parity splitting of the plasmonic corner states in spectra. We theoretically and numerically show that the parity splitting originates from the underlying inter-orbital coupling. Both near-field and far-field experiments verify the polarization-orthogonal nondegeneratesecond-order topological corner states. Abstract Background The aim of this study was to evaluate the condylar morphological changes after orthodontic treatment in adult patients with Class II malocclusion using a Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Methods Images of twenty-eight adult patients with Class II malocclusion who have no temporomandibular symptoms were involved in this study. To analyze the post-treatment changes in condylar morphology, mimics 17.0 software was used to measure several values and reconstruct the three-dimensional condyle, including height of the condyle, area and bone mineral density of the maximum axial and sagittal section, volume and bone mineral density of the three-dimensional condyle and condylar head before and after orthodontic treatment. Using SPSS 19.0 software package Paired t-test was applied for comparison of condylar morphology analysis between pre-treatment and post-treatment. Results Height of condylar head increase significant (P .05). Conclusion Condylar volume decreased and height of condylar head have changed, so we speculated that adaptive bone remodeling of the condyle occurs.

40. Understanding post-pandemic spatiotemporal differences in the recovery of metro travel behavior among different groups by considering the built environment

Abstract Numerous studies have substantiated the substantial impact of COVID-19 on metro travel, which is expected to gradually recover once the pandemic is controlled. Given the potentially more severe repercussions of COVID-19 on vulnerable groups like the elderly and people with disabilities, recovery patterns may differ significantly among various demographic segments. However, limited research has addressed this notable disparity. To address this gap, we collected metro travel data in Wuhan from March 2019 to April 2021. We analyzed changes in travel characteristics among different groups, such as the elderly, people with disabilities, commuters, school students, and others, before and after the pandemic. By employing interrupted time series analysis, we explored the short-term impact of the pandemic on different groups and their long-term recovery trajectories. We also investigated the factors influencing the recovery of metro travel among diverse demographic groups. The findings indicate the following: (1) All groups experienced a sharp decline in travel ridership and frequency in the short term due to the pandemic. (2) There are distinct variations in long-term ridership recovery among different groups, with commuters and school students showing the quickest recovery. However, ridership among people with disabilities remained below pre-pandemic levels even a year after the pandemic. (3) Given the inherent spatiotemporal regularity in residents’ daily activities, post-pandemic metro travel patterns closely align with the pre-pandemic patterns. (4) Different built environment factors exert varying degrees of influence on the recovery of metro ridership among different groups, and distinctions are evident between weekdays and weekends. These findings enhance our comprehension of the pandemic’s impact on diverse demographic groups, which can guide government agencies and urban planners in formulating more resilient strategies for rail transit operations and land use optimization.

Using a single light source to simulate tunable spectra of various light sources, such as International Commission on Illumination (CIE) standard illuminants, has attracted great interest. This can be realized through the spectral mixing of multi-channel LEDs. However, there is currently a lack of a general and comprehensive spectral-mixing method that can effectively achieve the target spectra with a minimized number of LED channels. In this work, we propose such a method. It begins by determining the desired wavelength range according to an eye-sensitivity threshold based on the V(λ) function. Subsequently, a strategy for LED component selection is introduced. Lastly, detailed spectral mixing strategies are presented: (i) when using a large number of LED channels, spectral mixing optimization for direct spectral-shape matching ensures favorable outcomes; while (ii) with a limited number of LED channels, solely relying on the effort of matching the spectral shape may lead to a significant deviation in correlated color temperature (CCT). To solve this problem, an additional step of color mixing is applied. Our proposed method demonstrates significant improvements over prior methods in terms of spectral and CCT matching quality, as well as using a reduced number of LED channels.

To address this gap, we propose a method called GBMPhos, a novel method that combines convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for extracting local features, gating mechanisms to selectively focus on relevant information, and a bi-directional gated recurrent unit (Bi-GRU) to capture long-range dependencies within protein sequences. GBMPhos leverages a comprehensive set of features, including sequence encoding, physicochemical properties, and structural information, to provide an in-depth analysis of phosphorylation sites. We conducted an extensive comparison of GBMPhos with traditional machine learning algorithms and state-of-the-art methods. Experimental results demonstrate the superiority of GBMPhos over existing methods. The visualization analysis further highlights its effectiveness and efficiency. Additionally, we have established a free web server platform to help researchers explore phosphorylation in SARS-CoV-2 infections. The source code of GBMPhos is publicly available on GitHub.

The aim is to identify mature AI models that are suitable for research on optometry and potential algorithms that may be used in future clinical practice.

In this paper, the elastic properties, chemical bonds, electronic properties, magnetic properties, and phonon spectra of CuNFe3 and CuNCo3 synthesized in the experiment are calculated by first principles. The results show they are ferromagnetic metal compounds with covalent and ionic bonds. CuNFe3 and CuNCo3 have large bulk modulus B, Young's modulus Y, and shear modulus G, which are 191.01 GPa, 202.33 GPa, 159.65 GPa, 247.01 GPa, 58.67 GPa and 95.26 GPa, respectively, which indicates that they have compressive solid resistance. The total magnetic moment of CuNFe3 is 6.96 μB, and that of CuNCo3 is 4.17 μB, which suggests that they have broad application prospects in magnetic storage, computer core, magnetic recording materials and other fields.

Summary: Current studies on the immune microenvironment of colorectal cancer (CRC) were mostly limited to the tissue level, lacking relevant studies in the peripheral blood, and failed to describe its alterations in the whole process of adenocarcinoma formation, especially of adenoma carcinogenesis. Here, we constructed a large-scale population cohort and used the CyTOF to explore the changes of various immune cell subsets in peripheral blood of CRC. We found monocytes and basophils cells were significantly higher in adenocarcinoma patients. Compared with early-stage CRC, effector CD4+T cells and naive B cells were higher in patients with lymph node metastasis, whereas the basophils were lower. We also performed random forest algorithm and found monocytes play the key role in carcinogenesis. Our study draws a peripheral blood immune cell landscape of the occurrence and development of CRC at the single-cell level and provides a reference for other researchers.

In this paper, the structural, electronic, and elastic properties of Fe3SnC were calculated based on local density approximation (LDA) and generalized gradient approximation (GGA) in density functional theory (DFT). Compared with GGA, LDA underestimates lattice constants and overestimates binding energy and elastic constants. The calculated lattice constants are 3.76 Å (LDA) and 3.83 Å (GGA), respectively, and the latter is closer to the experimental values. With U correction in GGA and LDA, the magnetic properties of the system are shown in the band structure. The GGA calculation results are more accurate, and the calculated magnetic moment of Fe3SnC is 5.74μB. The band structure indicates that Fe3SnC is a metallic compound. The elastic constants show that Fe3SnC has a large elastic constant and bulk modulus, in which the C11 calculated by GGA is as high as 463.81GPa, and the Young's modulus is as high as 350.72GPa. This indicates that Fe3SnC is a potential cermet due to a strong deformation resistance. At the same time, with the minimum thermal conductivity of 1.65 W/mK calculated by the Cahill model.

47. Evaluating the accuracy of the Ophthalmologist Robot for multiple blindness-causing eye diseases: a multicentre, prospective study protocol

Introduction Early eye screening and treatment can reduce the incidence of blindness by detecting and addressing eye diseases at an early stage. The Ophthalmologist Robot is an automated device that can simultaneously capture ocular surface and fundus images without the need for ophthalmologists, making it highly suitable for primary application. However, the accuracy of the device’s screening capabilities requires further validation. This study aims to evaluate and compare the screening accuracies of ophthalmologists and deep learning models using images captured by the Ophthalmologist Robot, in order to identify a screening method that is both highly accurate and cost-effective. Our findings may provide valuable insights into the potential applications of remote eye screening.Methods and analysis This is a multicentre, prospective study that will recruit approximately 1578 participants from 3 hospitals. All participants will undergo ocular surface and fundus images taken by the Ophthalmologist Robot. Additionally, 695 participants will have their ocular surface imaged with a slit lamp. Relevant information from outpatient medical records will be collected. The primary objective is to evaluate the accuracy of ophthalmologists’ screening for multiple blindness-causing eye diseases using device images through receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. The targeted diseases include keratitis, corneal scar, cataract, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, glaucomatous optic neuropathy and pathological myopia. The secondary objective is to assess the accuracy of deep learning models in disease screening. Furthermore, the study aims to compare the consistency between the Ophthalmologist Robot and the slit lamp in screening for keratitis and corneal scar using the Kappa test. Additionally, the cost-effectiveness of three eye screening methods, based on non-telemedicine screening, ophthalmologist-telemedicine screening and artificial intelligence-telemedicine screening, will be assessed by constructing Markov models.Ethics and dissemination The study has obtained approval from the ethics committee of the Ophthalmology and Optometry Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University (reference: 2023-026 K-21-01). This work will be disseminated by peer-review publications, abstract presentations at national and international conferences and data sharing with other researchers.Trial registration number ChiCTR2300070082.
