Abstract: Abstract We search for the radiative decays D + → γρ + and D + → γK *+ using 20.3 fb −1 of e + e − annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energy s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 3.773 GeV by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. No significant signals are observed, and the upper limits on the branching fractions of D + → γρ + and D + → γK *+ at 90% confidence level are set to be 1.3 × 10 −5 and 1.8 × 10 −5, respectively.

Abstract: Abstract Using 7.33 fb −1 of e + e − collision data samples collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV, we search for the radiative decay D s + → γρ 770 + $$ {D}_s^{+}\to \gamma \rho {(770)}^{+} $$ for the first time. A hint of D s + → γρ 770 + $$ {D}_s^{+}\to \gamma \rho {(770)}^{+} $$ is observed with a statistical significance of 2.5σ. The branching fraction of D s + → γρ 770 + $$ {D}_s^{+}\to \gamma \rho {(770)}^{+} $$ is measured to be (2.2 ± 0.9stat. ± 0.2syst. ) × 10 −4, corresponding to an upper limit of 6.1 × 10 −4 at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract: Abstract Using e + e − collision data collected by the BESIII detector at BEPCII corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 30 fb −1, we measure Born cross sections and effective form factors for the process e + e − → Ξ 0 Ξ ¯ 0 $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {\Xi}^0{\overline{\Xi}}^0 $$ at forty-five center-of-mass energies between 3.51 and 4.95 GeV. The dressed cross section is fitted, assuming a power-law function plus a charmonium(-like) state, i.e., ψ(3770), ψ(4040), ψ(4160), ψ(4230), ψ(4360), ψ(4415) or ψ(4660). No significant charmonium(-like) state decaying into Ξ 0 Ξ ¯ 0 $$ {\Xi}^0{\overline{\Xi}}^0 $$ is observed. Upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the product of the branching fraction and the electronic partial width are provided for each decay. In addition, ratios of the Born cross sections and the effective form factors for e + e − → Ξ 0 Ξ ¯ 0 $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {\Xi}^0{\overline{\Xi}}^0 $$ and e + e − → Ξ − Ξ ¯ + $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {\Xi}^{-}{\overline{\Xi}}^{+} $$ are also presented to test isospin symmetry and the vector meson dominance model.

Abstract: Abstract The branching fraction of D + → K S 0 π 0 e + ν e $$ {D}^{+}\to {K}_S^0{\pi}^0{e}^{+}{\nu}_e $$ is measured for the first time using 7.93 fb −1 of e + e − annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energy s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, and is determined to be B D + → K S 0 π 0 e + ν e = 0.881 ± 0.017 stat . ± 0.016 syst . % $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}^{+}\to {K}_S^0{\pi}^0{e}^{+}{\nu}_e\right)=\left(0.881\pm {0.017}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.016}_{\textrm{syst}.}\right)\% $$ . Based on an analysis of the D + → K S 0 π 0 e + ν e $$ {D}^{+}\to {K}_S^0{\pi}^0{e}^{+}{\nu}_e $$ decay dynamics, we observe the S-wave and P-wave components with fractions of f S-wave = (6.13 ± 0.27stat. ± 0.30syst. )% and f K ¯ ∗ 892 0 = 93.88 ± 0.27 stat . ± 0.29 syst . % $$ {f}_{{\overline{K}}^{\ast }{(892)}^0}=\left(93.88\pm {0.27}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.29}_{\textrm{syst}.}\right)\% $$ , respectively. From these results, we obtain the branching fractions B D + → K S 0 π 0 S − wave e + ν e = 5.41 ± 0.35 stat . ± 0.37 syst . × 10 − 4 $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}^{+}\to {\left({K}_S^0{\pi}^0\right)}_{S-\textrm{wave}}{e}^{+}{\nu}_e\right)=\left(5.41\pm {0.35}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.37}_{\textrm{syst}.}\right)\times {10}^{-4} $$ and B D + → K ¯ ∗ 892 0 e + ν e = 4.97 ± 0.11 stat . ± 0.12 syst . % $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}^{+}\to {\overline{K}}^{\ast }{(892)}^0{e}^{+}{\nu}_e\right)=\left(4.97\pm {0.11}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.12}_{\textrm{syst}.}\right)\% $$ . In addition, the hadronic form-factor ratios of D + → K ¯ ∗ 892 0 e + ν e $$ {D}^{+}\to {\overline{K}}^{\ast }{(892)}^0{e}^{+}{\nu}_e $$ at q 2 = 0, assuming a single-pole dominance parameterization, are determined to be r V = V 0 A 1 0 = 1.43 ± 0.07 stat . ± 0.03 syst . $$ {r}_V=\frac{V(0)}{A_1(0)}=1.43\pm {0.07}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.03}_{\textrm{syst}.} $$ and r 2 = A 2 0 A 1 0 = 0.72 ± 0.06 stat . ± 0.02 syst . $$ {r}_2=\frac{A_2(0)}{A_1(0)}=0.72\pm {0.06}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.02}_{\textrm{syst}.} $$ .

Abstract: Abstract Using e + e − annihilation data sets corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.5 fb −1, collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV, we report the first measurements of the absolute branching fractions B Λ c + → p K L 0 $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_L^0\right) $$ = (1.67 ± 0.06 ± 0.04)%, B Λ c + → p K L 0 π + π − $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_L^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}\right) $$ = (1.69 ± 0.10 ± 0.05)%, and B Λ c + → p K L 0 π 0 $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_L^0{\pi}^0\right) $$ = (2.02 ± 0.13 ± 0.05)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. Combining with the known branching fractions of Λ c + → p K S 0 $$ {\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_S^0 $$ , Λ c + → p K S 0 π + π − $$ {\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_S^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-} $$ , and Λ c + → p K S 0 π 0 $$ {\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_S^0{\pi}^0 $$ , we present the first measurements of the K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ - K L 0 $$ {K}_L^0 $$ asymmetries R Λ c + K S , L 0 X = B Λ c + → K S 0 X − B Λ c + → K L 0 X B Λ c + → K S 0 X + B Λ c + → K L 0 X $$ R\left({\Lambda}_c^{+},{K}_{S,L}^0X\right)=\frac{\mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to {K}_S^0X\right)-\mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to {K}_L^0X\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to {K}_S^0X\right)+\mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to {K}_L^0X\right)} $$ in charmed baryon decays: R Λ c + p K S , L 0 = − 0.025 ± 0.031 $$ R\left({\Lambda}_c^{+},p{K}_{S,L}^0\right)=-0.025\pm 0.031 $$ , R Λ c + p K S , L 0 π + π − = − 0.027 ± 0.048 $$ R\left({\Lambda}_c^{+},p{K}_{S,L}^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}\right)=-0.027\pm 0.048 $$ and R Λ c + p K S , L 0 π 0 = − 0.015 ± 0.046 $$ R\left({\Lambda}_c^{+},p{K}_{S,L}^0{\pi}^0\right)=-0.015\pm 0.046 $$ . No significant asymmetries with statistical significance are observed.

Abstract: Abstract The processes h c → γP (P = η′, η, π 0) are studied with a sample of (27.12 ± 0.14) × 108 ψ(3686) events collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The decay h c → γη is observed for the first time with the significance of 9.0 σ, and the branching fraction is determined to be (3.77 ± 0.55 ± 0.13 ± 0.26) × 10 −4, while B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (h c → γη′) is measured to be (1.40 ± 0.11 ± 0.04 ± 0.10) × 10 −3, where the first uncertainties are statistical, the second systematic, and the third from the branching fraction of ψ(3686) → π 0 h c . The combination of these results allows for a precise determination of R h c = B h c → γη B h c → γ η ′ , $$ {R}_{h_c}=\frac{\mathcal{B}\left({h}_c\to {\pi}^0\gamma \eta \right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({h}_c\to {\pi}^0\gamma {\eta}^{\prime}\right)}, $$ which is calculated to be (27.0 ± 4.4 ± 1.0)%. The results are valuable for gaining a deeper understanding of η − η′ mixing, and its manifestation within quantum chromodynamics. No significant signal is found for the decay h c → γπ 0, and an upper limit is placed on its branching fraction of B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (h c → γπ 0) < 5.0 × 10 −5, at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract: Abstract Using e + e − collision data collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at center-of-mass energies between 3.510 and 4.914 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 25 fb −1, we measure the Born cross sections for the process e + e − → K − Ξ ¯ + Λ / Σ 0 $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {K}^{-}{\overline{\Xi}}^{+}\Lambda /{\Sigma}^0 $$ at thirty-five energy points with a partial-reconstruction strategy. By fitting the dressed cross sections of e + e − → K − Ξ ¯ + Λ / Σ 0 $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {K}^{-}{\overline{\Xi}}^{+}\Lambda /{\Sigma}^0 $$ , evidence for ψ 4160 → K − Ξ ¯ + Λ $$ \psi (4160)\to {K}^{-}{\overline{\Xi}}^{+}\Lambda $$ is found for the first time with a significance of 4.4σ, including systematic uncertainties. No evidence for other possible resonances is found. In addition, the products of electronic partial width and branching fraction for all assumed resonances decaying into K − Ξ ¯ + Λ / Σ 0 $$ {K}^{-}{\overline{\Xi}}^{+}\Lambda /{\Sigma}^0 $$ are determined.

Abstract: Abstract With a sample of (10087 ± 44) × 106 J/ψ events accumulated with the BESIII detector, we analyze the decays η′ → π + π − l + l − (l = e, μ) via the process J/ψ → γη′. The branching fractions are measured to be B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (η′ → π + π − e + e − ) = (2.45 ± 0.02(stat.) ± 0.08(syst.)) × 10 −3 and B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (η′ → π + π − μ + μ − ) = (2.16 ± 0.12(stat.) ± 0.06(syst.)) × 10 −5, and the ratio is B η ′ → π + π − e + e − B η ′ → π + π − μ + μ − = 113.4 ± 0.9 stat . ± 3.7 syst . $$ \frac{\mathcal{B}\left({\eta}^{\prime}\to {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}{e}^{+}{e}^{-}\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({\eta}^{\prime}\to {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}{\mu}^{+}{\mu}^{-}\right)}=113.4\pm 0.9\left(\textrm{stat}.\right)\pm 3.7\left(\textrm{syst}.\right) $$ . In addition, by combining the η′ → π + π − e + e − and η′ → π + π − μ + μ − decays, the slope parameter of the electromagnetic transition form factor is measured to be b η′ = 1.30 ± 0.19 (GeV/c 2) −2, which is consistent with previous measurements from BESIII and theoretical predictions from the VMD model. The asymmetry in the angle between the π + π − and l + l − decay planes, which has the potential to reveal the CP-violation originating from an unconventional electric dipole transition, is also investigated. The asymmetry parameters are determined to be A CP η ′ → π + π − e + e − = − 0.21 ± 0.73 stat . ± 0.01 syst . % $$ {\mathcal{A}}_{CP}\left({\eta}^{\prime}\to {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}{e}^{+}{e}^{-}\right)=\left(-0.21\pm 0.73\left(\textrm{stat}.\right)\pm 0.01\left(\textrm{syst}.\right)\right)\% $$ and A CP η ′ → π + π − μ + μ − = 0.62 ± 4.71 stat . ± 0.08 syst . % $$ {\mathcal{A}}_{CP}\left({\eta}^{\prime}\to {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}{\mu}^{+}{\mu}^{-}\right)=\left(0.62\pm 4.71\left(\textrm{stat}.\right)\pm 0.08\left(\textrm{syst}.\right)\right)\% $$ , implying that no evidence of CP-violation is observed at the present statistics. Finally, an axion-like particle is searched for via the decay η′ → π + π − a, a → e + e − , and upper limits of the branching fractions are presented for the mass assumptions of the axion-like particle in the range of 0 − 500 MeV/c 2.

Abstract: Abstract Using e + e − collision data collected at the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.33 fb −1, we determine the absolute branching fractions of fifteen hadronic D s + $$ {D}_s^{+} $$ decays with a double-tag technique. In particular, we make precise measurements of the branching fractions B D s + → K + K − π + = 5.49 ± 0.04 ± 0.07 % $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}_s^{+}\to {K}^{+}{K}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right)=\left(5.49\pm 0.04\pm 0.07\right)\% $$ , B D s + → K S 0 K + = 1.50 ± 0.01 ± 0.01 % $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}_s^{+}\to {K}_S^0{K}^{+}\right)=\left(1.50\pm 0.01\pm 0.01\right)\% $$ and B D s + → K + K − π + π 0 = 5.50 ± 0.05 ± 0.11 % $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}_s^{+}\to {K}^{+}{K}^{-}{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^0\right)=\left(5.50\pm 0.05\pm 0.11\right)\% $$ , where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. The CP asymmetries in these decays are also measured and all are found to be compatible with zero.

Abstract: Abstract Using 24.1 fb −1 of e + e − collision data collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, the Born cross sections and effective form factors of the e + e − → Σ + Σ ¯ − $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {\Sigma}^{+}{\overline{\Sigma}}^{-} $$ reaction are measured. The measurements are performed at center-of-mass energies ranging from 3.510 to 4.951 GeV. No significant evidence for the decay of the charmonium(-like) states, ψ(3770), ψ(4040), ψ(4160), Y(4230), Y(4360), ψ(4415), and Y(4660), into a Σ + Σ ¯ − $$ {\Sigma}^{+}{\overline{\Sigma}}^{-} $$ final state is observed. Consequently, upper limits for the products of the branching fractions and the electronic partial widths at the 90% confidence level are reported for these decays.

Abstract: Abstract Using (27.12 ± 0.14) × 108 ψ(3686) events collected by the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 3.686 GeV, we search for the first time for two nonleptonic hyperon decays that change strangeness by two units, Ω − → Σ0 π − and Ω − → nK − . No significant signal is observed. The upper limits on their decay branching fractions are determined to be B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (Ω − → Σ0 π − ) < 5.4 × 10 −4 and B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (Ω − → nK − ) < 2.4 × 10 −4 at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract: Abstract Using (27.12 ± 0.14) × 108 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, the decay of ψ(3686) → Ω − K + Ξ ¯ 0 $$ {\varOmega}^{-}{K}^{+}{\overline{\Xi}}^0 $$ + c.c. is observed for the first time. The branching fraction of this decay is measured to be B ψ 3686 → Ω − K + Ξ ¯ 0 + c . c . $$ {\mathcal{B}}_{\psi (3686)\to {\varOmega}^{-}{K}^{+}{\overline{\Xi}}^0+\textrm{c}.\textrm{c}.} $$ = (2.78 ± 0.40 ± 0.18) × 10 −6, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. Possible baryon excited states are searched for in this decay, but no evident intermediate state is observed with the current sample size.

13. The Origin of Low-redshift Event Rate Excess as Revealed by the Low-luminosity Gamma-Ray Bursts

Abstract: The relation between the event rate of long gamma-ray bursts and the star formation rate is still controversial, especially at the low-redshift end. Dong et al. confirmed that the gamma-ray burst rate always exceeds the star formation rate at a low redshift of z < 1 in spite of the sample completeness. However, the reason for low-redshift excess is still unclear. Since low-luminosity bursts are at smaller redshifts generally, we choose three Swift long burst samples and classify them into low- and high-luminosity bursts in order to check whether the low-redshift excess is existent and if the excess is biased by the sample size and completeness. To degenerate the redshift evolution from luminosity, we adopt the nonparametric method to study the event rate of the two types of long bursts in each sample. It is found that the high-luminosity burst rate is consistent with the star formation rate within the whole redshift range, while the event rate of low-luminosity bursts exceeds the star formation rate at a low redshift of z < 1. Consequently, we conclude that the low-redshift excess is contributed by the low-luminosity bursts with possibly new origins unconnected with the star formation, which is also independent of the sample size and the sample completeness.

Abstract: A simulation-based probabilistic method is proposed for assessing the reliability of steel-lined and prestressed fiber-reinforced concrete (PFRC) slabs against the impact loads. The impact testing of several prestressed and non-prestressed FRC slabs of 800 × 800 × 100 mm in size was carried out. The experimental program involved projectile impact testing of prestressed and non-prestressed FRC slabs using a gas gun. Three parameters were varied for testing of slabs under the projectile impact, viz., a quantity of steel fibers in the concrete, steel lining on the backside of the slab, and the prestressing level. The probability-based reliability analysis of all the tested specimens was then performed to highlight the influence of steel lining, steel fibers, and prestress in enhancing the safety of RC (reinforced concrete) slabs against projectile impacts. Projectile impact velocity exceeding the slab’s ballistic limit was assumed to lead to the failure of the PFRC slab, i.e., the perforation failure of the slab. Study results indicate that when no steel fiber was present, slab reliability was low. Adding fibers to slabs increases slabs’ reliability significantly. Specimens with the highest steel fiber content (1.2%) showed the greatest increase in reliability. The steel lining on the back face makes the slab’s reliability almost doubled in comparison with those without lining. Additionally, steel lining makes the PFRC slabs as reliable as desired. It was further noticed that the prestressing helps in enhancing the slab safety against projectile impacts. Even a minimal amount of prestressing makes a noticeable improvement in the reliability of PFRC slabs.

Abstract: Root rot caused by Fusarium solani, is one of the most severe diseases in pepper (Capsicum annuum L.). Grafting has been attempted as an effective means to control the disease, but little is known about the disease resistance mechanism in grafted pepper. Therefore, we investigated the changes of biomass, cell structure, and the secondary metabolism in roots of control (non-grafted pepper) and grafted peppers using cvs. Weishi and Buyeding as rootstocks and the cv. Xinfeng 2 as a scion. After a manual inoculation, less F. solani invaded grafted pepper roots and consequently less serious injury to the root cell ultra-structure compared with the control was found. The roots of grafted pepper infected with F. solani exhibited greater biomass production and root activity than the roots of infected controls. Grafting led to an increased content of salicylic acid, benzoic acid, vanillin, lignin, and polyamines, as well as activities of phenylalanine ammonia lyase, polyphenoloxidase, and peroxidase. These results suggest that grafting improved the resistance of peppers to root rot.

Abstract: Heterogeneous solids, also known as cellular materials, have significant advantages for impacting energy absorption and blasting effect attenuation. This study focuses on analysing the stress wave propagation in the heterogeneous solids using a novel meso-scale model through an experimental analysis. Six different specimens were designed and manufactured for this experiment and suitable apparatuses were selected and assembled to satisfy the test requirements to maximise the accuracy and reliability. The experiment provided a clear understanding of the wave propagation characteristics, and it was found that when the structure of transmission medium increases in complexity and the input frequency of stress waves becomes higher, the negative effects on the output will become more significant.

Abstract: Pseudorabies (PR) outbreaks have devastated many swine farms in several parts of China since late 2011. The outbreak-associated pseudorabies virus (PRV) variant strains exhibited some typical amino acid changes in glycoprotein E (gE), a diagnostic antigen used for discriminating between PRV-infected and vaccinated animals (DIVA). To counteract the potential impact of epitope variations on current serological diagnostics of PRV, we produced monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) against gE protein of one representative PRV variant strain and developed a blocking immunoperoxidase monolayer assay (b-IPMA) for DIVA. The b-IPMA was based on the inhibition of binding between PRV-infected cells and mAb by PRV-specific antibodies present in clinical swine sera and was validated by comparison with a commercial PRV gpI Antibody Test Kit (IDEXX Laboratories, USA). The diagnostic sensitivity, diagnostic specificity and agreement were determined to be 99.25%, 98.18% and 99.02% respectively upon testing 509 serum samples. b-IPMA detected only PRV-specific antibodies and showed no cross- -reactivity with antibodies elicited by gE-deleted vaccine or other common swine pathogens. Thus, b-IPMA has the potential to be used for high-throughput screening of PRV-infected animals in veterinary clinics.

Abstract: This paper studies the trajectories and loads of rigid projectiles penetrating into concrete targets with oblique and attack angles, based on differential area force law with an empirical model of free surface effect. Investigations are conducted using 450kg, 300-mm-diameter ogive-nose projectiles, with striking velocities from 600 to 1000m/s, oblique angles from 5° to 25° and attack angles from 1° to 5°. The characteristics of trajectories and loads are summarized. An important characteristic is that the turning of trajectory direction only happens at the earlier stage of penetration, and then the trajectory converge to straight line and keep linear motion until the end. Consistent with the trajectory, the attack angle, lateral acceleration and moment all occur at this stage. The axial acceleration is mainly determined by the initial velocity, but the lateral acceleration and moment are determined not only by initial velocity but also by the initial oblique and/or attack angles. In terms of maximum loads of lateral acceleration and moment, the combined influence of initial oblique and attack angles is larger than a single factor. There exist a proper negative attack angle which can minimize the trajectory turning in oblique penetration cases

Abstract: Three groups of projectiles with different CRH values of ogive-nose, mass center locations, and cone angles of shank are designed to study trajectory and loads of oblique penetration into concrete targets. Impact conditions are taken as striking velocity 600m/s, initial oblique angle 30° and concrete target with compressive strength of 30Mpa. We employed a general differential area force law (DAFL) model of rigid projectile for oblique penetration. An empirical model of free surface effect is proposed for brittle targets. It is shown that structure characteristics have significant effects on trajectories and loads for oblique penetration, i.e. (a) The larger the CRH values, and the closer the mass center locations to the projectile end, the larger the turning angles and lateral deviations of penetration trajectories are. (b)The trajectories of projectiles with ‘cone+ogive-nose’ structures show more stable than those with ‘cylinder+ogive-nose’. (c)All trajectories converge to straight line (linear motion) until stop in the targets, and the trajectories can be divided into turning stage and linear motion stage.

Abstract: Aim To investigate the role of p300 in the regulation of proliferation and odontogenic differentiation of human dental pulp cells (HDPCs). Methodology The recombinant lentiviral vector pshRNA-copGFP was used to knock-down p300 expression in HDPCs. Protein level of acetylated H3 was detected. The proliferation of HDPCs was measured using the CCK8 assay. The cell cycle and apoptosis were analysed using flow cytometry and TUNEL staining, respectively. The expression levels of Cdc25A, p21waf1 and the cleaved products of caspase 3 and caspase 7 were determined utilizing real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting analysis. The alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity was measured, and the formation of mineralized nodules was assessed using alizarin red staining after the induction of odontogenic differentiation of HDPCs. The expression levels of the odontogenic differentiation markers DMP-1, DSPP and DSP were detected utilizing real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting analysis. Results After p300 was knocked down in HDPCs, p300 was significantly down-regulated at both the mRNA and protein levels, and histone H3 acetylation was reduced. The proliferation capacity of HDPCs was suppressed in p300 knock-down groups. The cells were arrested in the G0/G1 phase of the cell cycle, and cell apoptosis was triggered. ALP activity, the formation of mineralized nodules and the expression levels of DMP-1, DSPP and DSP were all decreased in p300-knock-down HDPCs undergoing odontogenic differentiation. Conclusion Knocking down p300 restrains the proliferation and odontogenic differentiation potentiality of HDPCs.

Abstract: The ultrafast manipulation of quantum material has led to many novel and significant discoveries. Among them, the light-induced transient superconductivity in cuprates achieved by melting competing stripe orders represents a highly appealing accomplishment. However, recent investigations have shown that the notion of photoinduced superconductivity remains a topic of controversy, and its elucidation solely through c-axis time-resolved terahertz spectroscopy remains an arduous task. Here, we measure the in-plane and out-of-plane transient terahertz responses simultaneously in the stripe-ordered nonsuperconducting La_{2-x}Ba_{x}CuO_{4} after near-infrared excitations. We find that although a pump-induced reflectivity edge appears in the c-axis reflectance spectrum, the reflectivity along the CuO_{2} planes decreases simultaneously, indicating an enhancement in the scattering rate of quasiparticles. This in-plane transient response is clearly distinct from the features associated with superconducting condensation. Therefore, we conclude the out-of-plane transient responses cannot be explained by an equivalent of Josephson tunneling. Notably, those pump-induced terahertz responses remain consistent even when we vary the near-infrared optical pump wavelengths and hole concentrations. Our results provide critical evidence that transient three-dimensional superconductivity cannot be induced by melting the competing stripe orders with pump pulses whose photon energy is much higher than the superconducting gap of cuprates.

Abstract: In plasticity theory, the effective stress–strain curve of a metal is independent of the loading path. The simplest loading path to obtain the effective stress–strain curve is a uniaxial tensile test. In order to demonstrate in a plasticity laboratory that the stress–strain curve is independent of the loading path, the hydrostatic bulge test has been used to provide a balanced biaxial tensile stress state. In our plasticity laboratory we compared several different theories for the hydrostatic bulge test for the determination of the effective stress–strain curve for two representative metals, brass and aluminium alloy. Finite element analysis (FEA) was performed based on the uniaxial tension test data. It was shown that the effective stress–strain curve obtained from the biaxial tensile test (hydrostatic bulge test) had a good correlation with that obtained in the uniaxial tensile test and agreed well with the analytical and FEA results. This paper may be used to support an experimental and numerical laboratory in teaching the concepts of effective stress and strain in plasticity theory.

Abstract: Void shape changes induced by electromigration pose reliability problems in Al-based interconnects. Recent observations have shown that a rounded void sometimes collapses to a transverse slit in an interconnect with bamboo-like grain structure. This article provides a linear stability analysis for a circular void that is only partially conductive in an otherwise infinite conductive medium. The relation between the inner conductivity (i.e., the conductivity of the medium in the void) and the critical remote electric field intensity, Ecr, for the linear stability of the void is established. It is proven that when the inner conductivity becomes zero, Ecr goes to infinity, and we can look upon the inner conductivity of a vacuum void as zero. That is why the vacuum circular void is linearly stable. It is also shown that when the inner conductivity is very small, the stability of a void is sensitive to it. Abstract: A mass spectrometric method based on the combined use of fast atom bombardment collisionally-induced dissociation (CID) and tandem mass spectrometry has been used for the structural characterization of free and conjugated flavone and flavonol aglycones. Low-energy CID spectra of the [M + H]+ (or Y+0) ions show simple fragmentation patterns, which allow characterization of the substituents in the A and B rings and, in particular, differentiation between flavones and flavonols. Abstract: The cross sections for e+e− → hadrons, e+e−, μ+μ− have been measured in the vicinity of the J Ψ resonance using the BES detector operated at BEPC. The partial widths for J Ψ to hadrons, electrons, muons and the total width have been determined to be Γh = 74.1 ± 8.1 keV, Γe = 5.14 ± 0.39 keV, Γμ = 5.13 ± 0.52 keV, and Γ = 84.4 ± 8.9 keV, respectively.

Abstract: This study shows that fast atom bombardment (FAB) in combination with collisional activation and tandem mass spectrometric techniques is useful for the characterization of, and the differentiation between, O-diglycosyl, O-C- diglycosyl, and di-C-glycosyl flavonoids. A quick differentiation between the three types of glycosyl flavonoids is possible by simply examining FAB mass spectra. Low-energy product ion spectra of [M + H] + ions have been used for determining the carbohydrate sequence in O-diglycosyl flavonoids and characterizing the terminal mono-saccharide in O-C-diglycosyl flavonoids. The data obtained for per-O- deuterated precursor ion species of O-diglycosyl flavonoids indicate that O-linked hydrogen atoms are involved in the formation of Yn+ ions. High-energy product ion spectra of [M + H] + ions enable further characterization and differentiation of isomeric di-6,8-C-glycosides.

Abstract: The Beijing Spectrometer (BES) is a general purpose solenoidal detector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC). It is designed to study exclusive final states in e + e − annihilations at the center of mass energy from 3.0 to 5.6 GeV. This requires large solid angle coverage combined with good charged particle momentum resolution, good particle identification and high photon detection efficiency at low energies. Abstract: Existing problems in the published cross section data of the 11B(p,α) 8Be reaction and the consequences in material analysis will be reviewed. The existing cross section data on this reaction shows errors of up to 30% and inconsistency as high as 50%. New experimental data of the cross sections with the standard deviation better than 3% are presented. Application of NRA/Channeling for both the chemical concentration profiles and the carrier profiles of B implanted into silicon will be introduced. We used NRA/Channeling combined with anodic stripping to get the chemical and carrier depth profiles simultaneously. 11B(p,α) 8Be reaction at incident beam energy of 660 keV was used to probe 11B atoms. Channeling technique was applied to measure the lattice location of the 11B atoms. Anodic oxidation stripping was used to get differential depth information.
