This research aims to develop an e-learning strategy for the industrial revolution 4.0 era by developing an innovative and adaptable TVET learning model using Webcast technology. This approach highlights the blended learning model developed as a smart learning model featuring a balance between synchronous and asynchronous learning using webcast technology. Research and development method is used in this approach. The model design is done by literature study and focus group discussion with experts and academicians. The model effectiveness trial results were measured with an experimental design (using the one-group pretest-posttest and posttest-only method with nonequivalent groups). The results of developing a smart learning model of TVET webcast technology describe: (1) How the learning rules are used; (2) How to connect with webcasting technology; and (3) What are the stages and steps of the webcasting-based smart learning model? The proposed model approach allows for simultaneous learning interactions in synchronous and asynchronous classes in various locations, thus triggering student engagement in learning activities and enhancing different learning styles, ways of thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Managing water treatment sludge (WTS) is challenging due to its continuous production and environmental impact. Traditional disposal in landfills is standard but risky for groundwater contamination. Researchers are exploring a more environmentally friendly method using a blend of binders, partially replacing Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) with waste materials like Waste Paper Sludge Ash (WPSA), Palm Oil Fuel Ash (POFA) and Fly Ash (FA). These materials not only help reduce environmental waste but also decrease cement usage. The study assesses the Atterberg Limits of the treated sludge to design the appropriate solidification/stabilisation (S/S) method, providing essential data on its physical and mechanical properties Using waste materials as binders effectively stabilises the sludge, reducing reliance on cement, cutting disposal costs, and minimizing environmental pollution. The study identifies WPSA as the most suitable replacement, offering self-cementing properties, and demonstrates that combining WPSA OPC, and WTS creates a stable mix with liquefaction resistance. This approach presents a promising, cost-effective, and environmentally solution for WTS management.

In an effort to support the achievement of SGD, especially pillar No.13 (Climate Change), the existence of a technological model that enables to reduce negative impact of carbon emissions is one of the prerequisites for supporting the sustainability of life on Earth. To answer these challenges, this paper aims to introduce the idea of carbon capture technology in residential called SIMPLEX (Smart Integrated Housing Complex). This idea aims to introduce the use of engineering wood products as one of the innovative solutions to combat the adverse effects of carbon emissions. SIMPLEX is arranged in a housing complex inside there are Transparent Wood, Transparent Nano paper, Wind Turbines, Structural Applications, Water Treatment, and Energy Storage Devices. In the end, consideration of the negative impacts of SIMPLEX and the need for regulations supporting the implementation of SIMPLEX at the public level is conveyed. The SIMPLEX idea will also initiate the achievement of zero carbon emission building in Indonesia. In contrast to efforts to reduce carbon emissions by using alternative energy approaches and mobilizing the use of electric cars, efforts to reduce carbon emissions through a residential management approach based on carbon capture technology is a breakthrough that overlooked by Indonesian policymakers.

Today's technological developments are growing rapidly, but there are still jobs that are done manually and semi-manually. This paper aims to develop a control system to coordinate the work of tools using an electric motor, which is very helpful in the process of cutting onions in large quantities and is more efficient in spending production costs because the tool designed is an automatic onion cutter. This research method begins with the collection of materials and data related to onion cutters, production of onion cutters, and testing of onion cutters. The measurement results of the tool show that every component in the automatic onion cutter works well and optimally; the measurement process is carried out properly and thoroughly. This optimal work result is supported by Arduino Uno. The Arduino Uno microcontroller acts as a tool controller. In the main system, the onion cutter is controlled by the Arduino Uno with the Arduino programming language. This automatic onion cutting system will work when the onion you want to cut has been inserted into a cross-section that has been equipped with an ultrasonic sensor, and then the onion cutting process is carried out. Compared with the manual method, the cutting time is almost the same. It's just that the advantages of slicing with this tool, the resulting slices are relatively more uniform. Besides that, another advantage is that it doesn't hurt the eyes of the onion slicer. So that this tool can be used by small entrepreneurs and onion farmers to increase productivity and the community's economy.

Asphaltic concrete pavement is popular worldwide, but this type of pavement requires frequent maintenance and rehabilitation as it cannot cope up with the increasing number of traffic vehicles and loads. Therefore, modifying asphalt pavement to reduce the damages and defects is necessary, thereby enhancing the serviceability of pavement. This study presents the effect of waste cooking oil on asphalt mixture at different ageing conditions. A 60/70 penetration-grade asphalt binder was used, and 5% of this binder was replaced with untreated and treated waste cooking oil. Asphalt mixtures were prepared at the selected 5% optimum bitumen content and under two tests, i.e. Marshall stability and resilient modulus. The findings showed the better stability and resilient modulus of long-term aged samples incorporated with treated waste cooking oil than the unaged and short-term aged samples. The incorporation of untreated waste cooking oil caused reduced performance compared with the controlled and long-term aged samples. This result can be attributed to the high acid value of waste cooking oil. Therefore, treated waste cooking oil can be used as a binder replacement given its significantly higher performance at the mentioned ageing condition than the controlled mixture.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the performance response of a set of coir fibre modified asphalt samples subjected different ageing conditions and containing three different fibre contents. The laboratory experimental programs are indirect tensile test at 25°C and repeated load axial test at 40°C. The results showed that the fibres improved the mixture’s performance. The main findings obtained at 25°C for short and long-term ageing reveal that low fibre content at around 0.3% per aggregate weight display a stiffness modulus up to 14% higher than that of unmodified mixtures, hence showing that fibres may improve the bearing capacity and rut-resistance of asphalt mixtures. Conversely, as the amount of fibre increases to 0.5% and 0.7%, the stiffness decreases to the point of becoming unacceptably low, almost 80% lower than unmodified mixes stiffness. However the data also reveal that high fibre contents at 0.5% and above completely neutralize the impact of ageing on the mixture, indicating that fibre-modified mixtures would yield longer lives.

The current high price of crude oils for bitumen production has led to various studies on the most economical way in replacing or reducing the amount of virgin bitumen as a binder in road pavement while increasing their pavement performance. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of using bio-oil, particularly waste cooking oil, (WCO) on the engineering properties of bitumen. Both physical and rheological properties of the original bitumen and WCO modified bitumen were measured using penetration, softening point, viscosity, loss on heating and dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) tests. In this study, bitumen 80/100 pen was modified with WCO at different percentages i.e. 1%, 2% and 3% by weight of bitumen. Based on the results, it was found that addition of WCO in virgin bitumen has softened the bitumen, thus increase the temperature susceptibility. In terms of rutting resistance, the addition of WCO up to 2% has produced modified bitumen with performance grade of PG 64 which is comparable to the original bitumen.

The objectives of this study are to investigate the engineering properties of the asphalt mixtures containing waste plastic at different percentages i.e. 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10% by weight of bitumen. The experimental tests performed in the study were stability, tensile strength, resilient modulus and dynamic creep test. Results showed that the mixture with 4% plastic has the highest stability (184kN). However, the stability slightly decreases with the increase of plastic additive. On the other hand, the highest tensile strength among the modified asphaltic concrete is 1049kPa (8% plastic added). The modified asphalt mixture with 8% plastic has the highest resilient modulus, which is 3422 MPa (25°C) and 494Mpa (40°C). Where the highest creep modulus recorded is 73.30Mpa at 8% plastic added. It can be concluded that the addition of 8% plastic gave the highest value properties of asphalt mixture. Finally, it can be said that 8% plastic is the optimum value adding.

The objectives of this study are to determine the optimum bitumen content (OBC) for every percentage added of waste plastics in asphalt mixtures and to investigate the stability properties of the asphalt mixtures containing waste plastic. Marshall stability and flow values along with density, air voids in total mix, voids in mineral aggregate, and voids filled with bitumen were determined to obtain OBC at different percentages of waste plastic, i.e., 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10% by weight of bitumen as additive. Results showed that the OBC for the plastic-modified asphalt mixtures at 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10% are 4.98, 5.44, 5.48, and 5.14, respectively. On the other hand, the controlled specimen’s shows better volumetric properties compared to plastic mixes. However, 4% additional of waste plastic indicated better stability than controlled specimen.

This paper offers a review on the use of grinded coal bottom ash (CBA) on the concrete properties as demonstrated by strength test and microstructure test. Amount of CBA from power plant station was disposed in landfill because of the particle shape had a rough particles. By finding an alternative way to gain its surface area by grinding and used as replacement material as cement replacement may give a good side feedback on the strength and morphology of concrete. Most of the prior works studied on the grinded fly ash and grinded rice husk ash. The study on the influence of grinded CBA on the properties of concrete still limited and need more attention Therefore, the review on the effect of grinded CBA on the strength and microstructure of concrete are discussed.

Perubahan penggunaan lahan dari ruang terbuka hijau (RTH), tambak, rawa dan kawasan lain yang mampu menampung air menjadi permukiman akan meningkatkan air limpasanyang ditampung kawasan Pantai Timur Surabaya. Jika penggunaan lahan tidak dikendalikan, konsekuensinya adalah semakin berkurangnya kemampuan penampungan air di kawasan konservasi. Untuk mencapai tujuan daripenelitianini, maka dilakukan tiga tahap analisis. Tahap pertama, faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi dianalisis dengan deskriptif kualitatif. Tahap kedua, faktor-faktor digunakan untuk menentukan mintakat berdasarkan kemampuan penampungan air dengan analisis weighted overlay. Tahap terakhir, arahan pengendalian dirumuskan dengan analisis Delphi berdasarkan mintakat kemampuan penampungan air. Arahan pengendalian penggunaan lahan dirumuskan berdasarkan mintakat zona kemampuan penampungan air tinggi dan rendah. Hasil arahan pengendalian zona penampungan air tinggi fokus pada menambah hutan mangrove di kawasan konservasi dan normalisasi sungai yang mengalami penyempitan akibat okupansi masyarakat. Sedangkan pada zona penampungan air rendah, arahan pengendalian fokus pada melarang reklamasi ilegal dan melarang perubahan lahan tambak. Arahan ini dimaksudkan agar fungsi kawasan PantaiTimur Surabaya sebagai kawasan penampungan air tetap terjaga

In this study, alkali activated material was produced by using Class F fly ash from Manjung power station, Lumut, Perak, Malaysia. Fly ash then was activated by alkaline activator which is consisting of sodium silicate (Na2SiO3) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH). Hooked end steel fibers were added into the alkali activated material system with percentage vary from 0 % – 5 %. Chemical compositions of fly ash were first analyzed by using x-ray fluorescence (XRF). All hardened alkali activated material samples were tested for density, workability, and compression after 28 days. Results show a slight increase of density with the addition of steel fibers. However, the workability was reduced with the addition of steel fibers content. Meanwhile, the addition of steel fibers shows the improvement of compressive strength which is about 19 % obtained at 3 % of steel fibers addition.

Low calcium fly ash is used as the main material in the mixture and the crumb rubber was used in replacing fine aggregates in geopolymer mortar. Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium silicate (Na2SiO3) which were high alkaline solution were incorporated as the alkaline solution. The fly ash reacted with the alkaline solution forming alumino-silicate gel that binds the aggregate to produce a geopolymer mortar. The loading of crumb rubber in the fly ash based geopolymer mortar was set at 0% (CRGM-0), 5% (CRGM-5), 10% (CRGM-10), 15% (CRGM-15), and 20% (CRGM-20), respectively. NaOH solution (12M) and Na2SiO3 solution ratio is set constant at 2.5 for all geopolymer mixture and the fly ash to alkali activator ratio was kept at 2.0. The CRGM at 28 days of curing time was exposed to elevated temperature at 200°C, 400°C, 600°C and 800°C. The weight loss of the CRGM increases with increasing temperature at all elevated temperatures. However, the density and compressive strength of CRGM decrease with an increase of crumb rubber loading for all elevated temperature exposure. The compressive strength of CRGM reduced due to the fact that rubber decomposes between 200°C and 600°C thereby creating voids. CRGM-15 and CRGM-20 showed cracks developed with rough surface at 800°C. Image obtained from scanning electron microscope (SEM) showed that, the CRGM changed significantly due to the decomposition of crumb rubber and evaporation of the free water at 400°C, 600°C and 800°C.

The increasing use of concrete in construction has caused an increase in the need for resources for concrete mixtures and driving wide-scale mining. One alternate material that can be used for aggregates replacement is coral. Coral aggregates (CA) have similar chemical characteristics to cement. The compressive strength and tensile splitting strength tests of concrete coral aggregates were performed based on the ASTM and ACI standards. This study aims are to investigate the usage of CA as a partial replacement of cement and fine aggregate to increase the strength of concrete at substitution percentages of 0, 5, 10, and 15%. Two different water submerged scenarios of distilled water and salt sea water immersion were applied. The concrete strength test was carried out after 28 days of curing time, with the specified concrete quality of 17 MPa. The results showed that immersion in distilled water has a higher concrete strength than immersion in sea water. The maximum compressive strength of concrete for distilled and sea water immersion is for 0% CA content of 18.47 and 14.89 MPa, respectively. Moreover, the highest value of the split tensile strength of concrete with distilled and sea water immersion is for CA substitution of 5% of 2.52 and 2.5 MPa, respectively. The addition of 5% coral aggregates to cement and fine sand is the optimum combination since it increases the maximum split tensile strength of concrete.

Pavement evaluations provide crucial information regarding the performance and service life of asphalt concrete (HMA). They examine the structure of an existing pavement before deciding on different maintenance alternatives. The Klang Valley, as part of one of the developing areas in the state of Selangor, generates a high volume of traffic every day due to the increasing number of vehicles crossing the area. Every day, the impact of axle loads caused by vehicles has a negative impact on flexible pavement, resulting in road deterioration due to extreme distress. Pothole failures are one of the most common causes of distress. Five research areas in the Klang Valley area that have deteriorated owing to pothole failures were chosen as case studies. The objective of the study is to investigate the existing flexible pavement conditions by means of laboratory testing consisting of physical, volumetric, and performance tests using collected core samples. As a result, the data collected was compared to the Malaysian Public Work Department’s (PWD) standard. Data from laboratory tests was analyzed using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) to determine correlations with parameters influencing distress. Historical data design was carried out between test components and responses, which consisted of laboratory parameters. Axial strain, tensile strength ratio, and stability were the responses measured in the RSM. The created models between the independent variables and responses revealed a high level of correlation. The binder content, degree of compaction, and stiffness were the most significant operating parameters from the 3D plots. Optimized performance due to asphaltic pavement failure was observed at binder content (5.1%), degree of compaction (97%), and stiffness (3.1 kN/mm) to achieve ultimate axial strain (5000 microstrains), tensile strength ratio (80%), and stability (9.2 kN). The study showed that the response surface methodology (RSM) is an effective statistical method for providing an appropriate empirical model for relating parameters and predicting the best performance of an asphaltic mixture to reduce flexible pavement failure.
