Abstract—SARS-CoV-2, a Coronaviridae virus related to angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), is the virus that causes the COVID-19 pandemic. Diabetes mellitus is a condition that is reported to have a connection with the emergence of COVID-19. A diabetic patient has a higher risk of infection compared to other nondiabetic patients. In addition, some reports showed the possibility of infection that can stimulate diabetes in an individual without a hyperglycemia history. COVID-19 was also found to show a hyperglycemic conditions that may affect mortality. Therefore, a proper monitoring as well as management of glucose level is needed for COVID-19 patients regardless of their diabetes status, to minimize the risk of mortality and development of diabetes. The possibility of diabetes mellitus induced by COVID-19 infection is investigated in this paper, as well as the monitoring of COVID-19 patients with hyperglycemic conditions. Further investigation might be needed to confirm the relationship between COVID-19 and diabetes mellitus type 1. Diabetes mellitus adalah suatu kondisi yang diyakini memiliki hubungan dengan adanya COVID-19. Pasien dengan diabetes memiliki risiko infeksi yang tinggi dibandingkan dengan pasien nondiabetes lainnya. Meskipun demikian, beberapa laporan menunjukkan kemungkinan infeksi yang dapat merangsang diabetes pada individu tanpa riwayat hiperglikemia sebelumnya. COVID-19 juga ditemukan menunjukkan kondisi hiperglikemik yang dapat menyebabkan angka kematian yang cukup signifikan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pemantauan serta pengelolaan kadar glukosa yang tepat untuk pasien COVID-19. Kemungkinan diabetes mellitus yang disebabkan oleh infeksi COVID-19 akan diselidiki dalam makalah ini, serta pemantauan pasien COVID-19 dengan kondisi hiperglikemik. In current medical practice when a patient feels symptoms he/she would consult the doctor. The doctor then gives medication in a one-fits-all fashion. However, recent genetics studies had shown that different genetic makeup can results in different effects on medication, so the medication should be customed for every individual. The main idea of “personalized medicine” is to provide the right intervention including medication to the right patient at the right time and dose. With this approach, the medication paradigm would shift from curative to preventive. The rise of personalized medicine had been possible because the information from ever-increasing biomolecular (proteomics, genomics, and other omics) and health-related data are successfully “mined” by Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. In this paper, we proposed that AI systems toward personalized medicine must have acceptable performance, be readily interpretable by the clinical community, and be validated in a large cohort. We examined a few landmark papers with the keyword “AI for personalized medicine application”; 1) automatic image-based patient classification, 2) automatic gene-based cancer classification, and 3) automatic health-record heart failure with preserved ejection fraction patient phenotyping. All the examples are evaluated by their performance, interpretability, and clinical validity. From the analysis, we concluded that AI for personalized medicine could benefit by five factors: (1) standardization and pooling of genetics and health data, nationally and internationally, (2) the use of multi-modalities data, (3) disease specialist to guide the development of AI model, (4) investigation of AI-finding by clinical community, and (5) follow-up of AI-finding by the large clinical trial.

Background: Sleep disturbance accelerates type 2 diabetes mellitus by reducing insulin secretion and by the occurrence of difficulty in controlling sleep behaviour in humans so that it is necessary conduct a study by using experimental animals. Objective: This study aims to determine histophotometric differences of pancreas and differences of glucose tolerance in male albino rats (Rattus norvegicus) after induced by stress paradoxical sleep deprivation (PSD) and total sleep deprivation (TSD). Methods: This study applied a post-test only with control groups consisting of 30 male albino rats (Wistar strain) divided randomly into 3 groups: control group, PSD group and TSD group. The mean number and diameter of islets of Langerhans were calculated per slide and were averaged for each group at a magnification of 400 X. The percentage of beta cells in one islet of Langerhans was (ß-p) that was a number of normal beta cells (Bn) divided for the total beta cells (Bt) (normal and damaged) x 100%. The glucose level based on the sampling time was made a curve shape, and the area under the 0-to-120-minute curves (AUC0-120) was calculated by using a trapezoidal formula. Background: The kidneys are the main target of lead toxicity as lead is accumulated in and excreted through the kidneys. The main lead toxicity occurs through oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation, causing cellular damage in the kidneys. Moringa leaves contain high levels of flavonoids, with antioxidant effects that are useful in treating diseases accompanied by oxidative stress due to toxicity. Our goal was to analyze the attenuation effects of Moringa leaves extract on lead-induced nephrotoxicity in male Wistar rats. Methods: This research was conducted based on an experimental design and post-tests. Forty-eight Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups as follows: control group (K), which was given lead acetate at 750 mg/kg/day for 7 days, and three other groups of P1, P2 and P3, which were given lead acetate at the same dose for 7 days followed by administering with the ethanolic extract of Moringa leaves at 1,000, 1,500, and 2,000 mg/kg/day doses orally for 14 days, respectively. Results: There were improvements in oxidative stress in the kidneys of the study rats, marked by an increase in the serum levels of GSH, GPx, CAT, and SOD, and a decrease in the kidney MDA levels. Kidney disorders can be improved by administering ethanol extract from Moringa leaves, which is characterized by a significant decrease in blood BUN and creatinine levels. Conclusion: All doses of the ethanolic extract of Moringa leaves reduced the oxidative stress and improved the kidney function impaired due to acute exposure to lead in male Wistar rats. Thyrotoxicosis defined as a clinical manifestation of excess circulating thyroid hormone. Epidemiologic investigation reports 0.2% of thyrotoxicosis is caused by hydatidiform mole. The New England Trophoblastic Disease Centre (NETDC) mentioned that 20% of hydatidiform mole cases have thyrotoxicosis as one of its complications. The basic pathogenesis of thyrotoxicosis is the similarity of the HCG subunit to TSH which results in excessive stimulation of thyroid hormone. We present thethyrotoxicosis case in a 15-weeks pregnant woman with complete hydatidiform mole. The patient admitted to the hospital with blackish-red coloured bleeding and several hyperthyroidism complaints , laboratory test showed elevated levels of HCG and thyroid hormone and decreased TSH. Imaging studies done with ultrasound showed with snowflake pattern. The patient then treated with thyroid hormone suppressant therapy before the hydatidiform mole evacuation. Normalization of thyroid hormone levels should be made immediately before the mole evacuation to avoid life-threatening thyroid storm complications.

Diabetes Mellitus type 2 is the 7th world of death problem with the 95% proportion rate. Hypertension has also a correlation with this condition. The mortality of cardiovascular is 2-3 times over from diabetics with hypertension than diabetics with normotension which caused by lipid and aciduric disturbations. This study was conducted using cross-sectional design. Twenty-five sample of diabetics normotension and 25 sample of diabetics patient along with hypertension in Ajibarang Hospital District Banyumas and comply with inclusion-exclusion criteria were taken suing consecutive sampling. Data from the cholesterol and triglyceride total test were collected and analyzed with Mann-Whitney test. Additionally, HDL cholesterol and LDL was analyzed using T-Test. This Study showed that average total cholesterol from diabetics along with hypertension patients was in a range of 185.16 ± 36.59 and Diabetics patient without hypertension was 196.76 ± 44.62 (p = 0,503). Besides, the average rate of triglyceride level on diabetics patient with hypertension was 181.76 ±72.68 and diabetics patient along without hypertension was 180.28 ± 125.75 (p=0,367). The average rate of HDL cholesterol level on diabetics patient with hypertension was 39.12 ± 11.07 and diabetics patient along without hypertension was 42.37 ± 14.98 (p = 0,387). In addition, Average rate of LDL level on diabetics patient with hypertension was 112.57 ± 24.77 and diabetics patient along without hypertension was 118.33 ± 37.41 (p = 0,524). The average rate of uric acid on diabetics patient with hypertension was 6,120 ± 1,45 and diabetics patient along without hypertension was 5,768 ± 2,45 (p=0,200). As a conclusion, there is no difference with total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL, LDL cholesterol, and uric acid significant from diabetics patient with or without hypertension in Ajibarang Hospital District Banyumas in 2016.
