This paper uses an SBM-GML index model to assess Green Total Factor Productivity (GTFP) in China’s carbon-intensive sectors and conducts an empirical investigation into which factors influence GTFP in these sectors. The GTFP in the carbon-intensive sectors experienced a decline between 2006 and 2011, followed by an upward trend beginning in 2012. Technological progress was the primary driver of GTFP growth, while business size was also a notable contributor. Irrational energy structures negatively influenced the high-quality development of the carbon-intensive sectors, and environmental regulation and foreign direct investment (FDI) have not yet significantly impacted GTFP. Based on these findings, this paper suggests that the carbon-intensive sectors should expedite their green transitions by focusing on system improvement, technological innovations, energy revolutions, and high-level opening up. Encouraging car users who travel short distances to shift from car mode to active travel modes can effectively alleviate urban traffic congestion and reduce carbon emissions. However, few studies have examined the determinants of the travel mode choice of short-distance car users and ignored the nonlinear associations and interactions between variables. This paper conducts a questionnaire survey to investigate the short-distance travel mode choice of car users who travel less than 4km in a specific city. A random forest (RF) model is applied to examine the influence of key variables on these three travel mode choices of short-distance car users and to explore the nonlinear associations and interactions of the variables. Compared with multinomial logic model, the results of RF show that significant threshold effects exist in the relationship between the car user's travel mode choice and the selected explanatory variables, mainly travel distance, road network density, distance to CBD, and number of bus stops. In particular, 1.2km is a critical turning point for car and active travel mode choice, before which car users prefer to travel by walking and cycling and after which there is a significant increase in the car use probability. When the road network density was between 2.5km/km[sup.2] and 6.5km/km[sup.2], the proportion of car users who chose cycling showed an increasing trend, while car use showed a decreasing trend. Because the calculated results of the traditional fuzzy adaptive inertia controller that uses one constant output scaling factor can only show the modest changing trend, it might not be able to provide sufficient inertia to attenuate the further frequency deviation when the frequency deviation is close to the allowable value. In order to solve the problem, an improved fuzzy adaptive inertia based virtual synchronous generator (VSG) technique was proposed to attenuate the microgrid frequency fluctuation. The novelty mainly includes that the concept of frequency deviation threshold was developed, which was incorporated into the fuzzy controller design process. When the microgrid frequency deviation is lower than the threshold, a smaller output scaling factor is adopted to calculate the real-time inertia, but when the frequency deviation is larger than the threshold, a larger output scaling factor is employed to provide sufficient inertia. The simulation and experimental results prove that the proposed improved fuzzy adaptive inertia based VSG is able to ensure the fast frequency response when the frequency deviation is low, and improve the system safety when the frequency deviation is high, reflecting that it is of high value in the practical applications.
