Background: Endometriosis-associated ovarian cancer (EAOC) is a well-known type of cancer that arises from ovarian endometrioma (OE). OE contains iron-rich fluid in its cysts due to repeated hemorrhages in the ovaries. However, distinguishing between benign and malignant tumors can be challenging. We conducted a retrospective study on magnetic resonance (MR) relaxometry of cyst fluid to distinguish EAOC from OE and reported that this method showed good accuracy. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of a non-invasive method in re-evaluating pre-surgical diagnosis of malignancy by a prospective multicenter cohort study. Methods: After the standard diagnosis process, the R2 values were obtained using a 3T system. Data on the patients were then collected through the Case Report Form (CRF). Between December 2018 and March 2023, six hospitals enrolled 109 patients. Out of these, 81 patients met the criteria required for the study. Results: The R2 values calculated using MR relaxometry showed good discriminating ability with a cut-off of 15.74 (sensitivity 80.6%, specificity 75.0%, AUC = 0.750, p < 0.001) when considering atypical or borderline tumors as EAOC. When atypical and borderline cases were grouped as OE, EAOC could be distinguished with a cut-off of 16.87 (sensitivity 87.0%, specificity 61.1%). Conclusions: MR relaxometry has proven to be an effective tool for discriminating EAOC from OE. Regular use of this method is expected to provide significant insights for clinical practice. Background: The risk factors for skin injuries remain poorly understood in cancer patients with peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC). We herein aimed at exploring the effect of clinical factors on the risk of PICC-related skin injuries., Methods: We included 1245 cancer patients with PICC from 16 hospitals in Suzhou, China. The study outcome was in-hospital skin injuries, including contact dermatitis, skin (epidermal) stripping, tension injury, allergic dermatitis, skin tear, maceration, folliculitis, and pressure injury., Results: During hospitalization, 274 patients (22.0%) developed skin injuries after prolonged use of an indwelling catheter. Univariable logistic regression analysis identified several risk factors for PICC-related skin injuries; multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that the following factors independently and significantly ( p  < 0.05) associated with the risk of PICC-related skin injuries: body mass index (BMI, >25 kg/m 2 versus <18.5 kg/m 2 : odds ratio (OR), 1.79; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.03-3.11), skin condition (humid vs normal: OR, 2.96; 95% CI, 1.62-5.43), skin indentation (OR, 4.67; 95% CI, 3.31-6.58), allergic history (OR, 2.11; 95% CI, 1.21-3.66), history of dermatitis (OR, 3.05; 95% CI, 1.00-9.28), history of eczema (OR, 3.36; 95% CI, 1.20-9.43), catheter insertion site (under elbow vs . upper arm: OR, 3.32; 95% CI, 1.12-9.90), and PICC maintenance interval (4-5 days vs ⩽3 days: OR, 0.06; 95% CI, 0.01-0.50; 5-7 days vs ⩽3 days: OR, 0.07; 95% CI, 0.02-0.31; 7-9 days vs ⩽3 days: OR, 0.10; 95% CI, 0.02-0.57)., Conclusions: BMI, skin condition, skin indentation, allergic history, history of dermatitis, history of eczema, catheter insertion site, and PICC maintenance interval were independent risk factors for PICC-related skin injuries in cancer patients. Study Design: A prospective multicenter cohort study for more than 10 years of outpatients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).Objective: To identify predictive risk factors of cervical spine instabilities, which may induce compression myelopathy in patients with RA.Summary Of Background Data: Many reports described the natural course of cervical spine involvement in RA. Only a few studies, however, conducted comprehensive evaluation of its prognostic factors.Methods: Cervical spine instability was radiographically defined as atlantoaxial subluxation with the atlantodental interval greater than 3 mm, vertical subluxation (VS) with the Ranawat value less than 13 mm, and subaxial subluxation with irreducible translation of 2 mm or higher. The "severe" category of instability was defined as atlantoaxial subluxation with the atlantodental interval of 10 mm or lower, vertical subluxation with the Ranawat value of 10 mm or higher, and subaxial subluxation with translation of 4 mm or higher or at multiple levels. Of 503 "definite" or "classical" patients with RA without baseline "severe" instability, 143 were prospectively followed throughout for more than 10 years. The Cox proportional hazards regression analysis was performed to determine predictors for the development of "severe" instabilities. To exclude biases from the low follow-up rate, similar assessments were performed in 223 patients followed for more than 5 years from baseline.Results: The incidence of cervical spine instabilities and "severe" instabilities significantly increased during more than 10 years in both 143 and 223 cohorts (all P < 0.01). Multivariable Cox proportional hazards models found that baseline mutilating changes (hazard ratio [HR]=19.15, 95% confidence interval [95% CI] = 3.96-92.58, P < 0.01), corticosteroid administration (HR = 4.00, 95% CI = 1.76-9.11, P < 0.01), and previous joint surgery (HR = 1.99, 95% CI = 1.01-3.93, P = 0.048) correlated with the progression to "severe" instability in 143 cases and also in 223 cases (HR = 8.12, 95% CI = 2.22-29.64, P < 0.01; HR = 3.31, 95% CI = 1.68-6.53, P < 0.01; and HR = 2.07, 95% CI = 1.16-3.69, P = 0.014, respectively).Conclusion: Established mutilating changes, concomitant corticosteroid treatment, and previous joint surgery are relatively robust indicators for a poor prognosis of the cervical spine in patients with RA, based on the consistency in more than 10-year analysis of two different settings.Level Of Evidence: 3.
