Aim: To explore the way the nursing profession was portrayed in online news coverage before and after the COVID‐19 pandemic. Background: The power of the media can be used as a tool to introduce nursing services to society, make nursing visible, and influence the public perception of nursing. Introduction: Analyzing the image of nursing as portrayed in the news can be a guide for more effective management of the media as a tool for positioning nursing in the future and presenting the right message. Methods: A qualitative design was applied. Three online newspapers published in the Turkish language—the most widely read newspapers in Turkey—were analyzed. The sample for this research consisted of 505 news articles containing the keywords "nurse" and "nursing" published before and after the COVID‐19 outbreak. The MAXQDA2022 software was used for data management. Results: The articles selected were themed as news reflecting the nursing profession negatively, positively, and neutrally. When the negative and positive themes were compared, the two most repeated subthemes included (1) working conditions and being unprofessionalism; (2) impact on health, social recognition, and neutral included only subtheme that happens to you as a citizen/individual. Conclusion: Compared with the pre‐COVID‐19 period, there was an increase in news coverage reflecting portrayed nursing positively on the nursing profession in the post‐COVID‐19 period. Mass media, which are indispensable in social communication, can be used as an effective tool to improve the image of nursing in society. Implications for nursing: From nursing students to policymakers, all professionals must act in a planned and purposeful manner to present nursing professionals positively as leaders in public healthcare. Media image has an important impact on professional females’ social credibility, self-cognition, working attitude and continuing development. This study explores the media image of female scientists as presented or shaped by the Chinese mass media in the past 15 years using content analysis and word frequency analysis of 124 media reports about young female Chinese scientist award winners. It analyses the media’s approach to presenting the image of female scientists, their gender and their social role. The results demonstrate that with the continuous opening up and integration of social culture, the Chinese media has paid less attention to the appearance and personalities of female scientists, as well as various gender stereotypes, including conflicts between family and professional roles. China’s mass media has consistently been concerned with female scientists’ professional competitiveness, while other aspects have been less commonly reported. Generally, the image of Chinese female scientists in the media has gone through a development process from trivial and non-professional attributes to professional competencies. This article provides a comprehensive review and analysis of scientific research on the role of the leader’s image in shaping the image of an educational institution and its positioning in society. The article aims to analyse the functions of the head of an educational institution and study the influence of their image on the development of the school, underlining the components of the school director’s image that influence its effectiveness in the educational labour market. It highlights the increasing competition faced by modern educational institutions, necessitating active demonstration of their effectiveness and rationalization of their existence. The quality of education and the achievements of graduates emerge as decisive factors in attracting the attention of parents and students. Educational institutions must adapt to pedagogical trends, integrate advanced technologies, and implement an individualized approach to learning. The interaction with the community and the formation of a positive school image are crucial. The director’s role is pivotal, with their leadership qualities and strategic planning influencing the perception of the school and shaping a positive impression of the entire institution. The article analyses the concept of “image” based on the studies of economist K. Boulding, who considered it a key to understanding society. It emphasizes that image is grounded in belief, unlike objective knowledge, and shapes behaviour based on the perception of the world. Theoretical frameworks proposed by S. Williams and M. Moffit introduce the concept of imaging as a two-way process involving the creation and consumption of an image, encompassing all communicative processes and their influences. Image consumption is categorized into levels of perception, comprehension, and evaluation, impacting the formation of perceptions and attitudes toward the image bearer. The article views image as a success factor in professional activities and competitiveness in the educational services market. It underscores the importance of image in the global information space and the need to specify the concept of “professional image” in the conditions of an information society. The article focuses on the significance of the organization’s image in the contemporary market environment and its influence on stability and longevity. It explores aspects of managerial image, professional image, and leader image. The structural components of the leader’s image include personal characteristics, social characteristics, and symbolic significance. A new direction, pedagogical imageology, aimed at forming the image of educators and educational institutions, is discussed. Universal functions of image encompass communicative, informational, cognitive, emotional, and other aspects, which are defining aspects of the impact of image on professional development and contributing to positive societal perception. The study analyses the Professional Standard “Head (Director) of General Secondary Education Institution”, outlining a list of job functions and professional competencies. The identified structural components of the school director’s professional image include expertise, leadership qualities, communication skills, ethics and integrity, innovativeness and strategic thinking, community interaction, and reputation. It has been concluded that to achieve stability and strategic development of the educational institution, the director must be not only an effective leader, but also a bearer of a positive image for the entire school community, education management, and the public.

Background. The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed people’s lifestyles by imposing social, economic, and labor changes. Health professionals have been in the spotlight, occasionally even elevated to the status of “heroes”, as they have been at the forefront of the health emergency. Media exposure has undoubtedly played a pivotal role in the evolution and perception of the public’s image of nurses, especially within the Italian context. Currently, there is only one study conducted in Italy during the pandemic period. For this reason, we have opted to delve further into this subject during the post-pandemic period, with the ultimate goal of identifying this perceptual evolution. Methods. An online snowball sampling survey was conducted among the Italian population using social networks between August 2022 and January 2023. The survey utilized the Nursing Attitude Questionnaire (NAQ) to collect data. Results. The sample consisted of 564 individuals. Among the respondents, 63.8% (n = 360) were familiar with the nursing pathway, and the level of agreement regarding the training of nurses was 81.5% (n = 260). In terms of recognizing the professional role of nurses, variations emerged in certain domains of the NAQ. Specifically, professional values of nurses were more pronounced in northern and central Italy (M = 26.27). Moreover, stereotypes were more prevalent in the north (23.73 ± 3.538) and the center (23.13 ± 4.104) (p = 0.001). Conclusions. The sample acknowledged a unique competence inherent to nurses that cannot be replaced by other professionals. The study population perceives the nursing profession as pivotal within the IHS (Integrated Health System). However, the attractiveness of the profession remains exceedingly low. This study was not registered on a publicly available registry.

The society's opinion on the image of nursing is influence on various factors, including choosing the nursing profession and continuation in the profession. This study aimed to examine the effects of using the language of photography to explain the nursing profession as a professional occupation to society. Designed as a non-randomized quasi-experimental (One group pre-test-post-test) study, the research included a sample of 1088 participants who viewed 59 photographs specific to the nursing area. A personal information form and the "Nursing Image Scale" were used as data collection tools. The participants' mean score on the Nursing Image Scale was 65.33 before they attended the photo exhibition and 68.02 after attending it, indicating a statistically significant difference between the pre-test mean score and post-test mean score on the Nursing Image Scale applied to the participants before and after the exhibition (p=0.000). From these results, it was concluded that the participants' image of nursing was higher than average, meaning that the photo exhibition improved their image of nursing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the modern labour sphere, the image of an employee in the virtual space has a tangible value, becoming a significant social resource in employment and subsequent career advancement. The degree of demand for a personal brand in the online environment is associated with the characteristics of specific professions. For scientific and pedagogical workers, self-presentation in virtual social networks is significant not only for their career growth, development of social capital and personal brand, but also valuable as a factor in scientific communication. A competent professional self-presentation in the virtual space helps to form a favourable social image that enhances the prestige of a university teacher and scientist. During the pandemic and the transition of educational and research activities to the online space caused by it, the demand for professional self-presentation of educators in the virtual environment has increased significantly. The article analyses the practices of professional self-presentation of scientific and pedagogical workers in virtual social networks. A typology of strategies for using universal social networks (VKontakte, etc.) and professional (scientific) social networks (Research Gate, Academia Edu, Mendeley) is presented. Particular research interest is focused on the practices of communication and professional self-presentation through virtual social networks. The advantages and limitations of the use of online communication by teachers are identified, as well as the types of priority results that users achieve or would like to achieve. For the empirical basis of the analysis the authors used the data of a survey conducted by the method of semi-structured interviews by a research team with the participation of the author of the article of 120 scientific and pedagogical employees of six Russian universities included in the implementation of the 5–100 project. Based on the results of the study, a classification of higher education teachers was formed depending on their awareness and the desire to broadcast content in virtual social networks: experts and opinion leaders, conservatives, spammers, passive, absent. A typology of the strategy of professional self-presentation of scientific and pedagogical workers in virtual social networks has been created: voluntary, forced, non-priority professional self-presentation; refusal of self-presentation (external or internal).

Objectives: This study investigated the perceptions of nursing image and the affecting factors in the COVID-19 pandemic of nursing students. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at two public universities in Türkiye that provide undergraduate nursing. The study sample consisted of 355 undergraduate nursing students. Data were collected between April and July 2020 using an online questionnaire, student information form, and image scale for the nursing profession. Results: The majority of the participants were women (78.6%). Participants had a mean age of 21.23±2.049. More than half the participants chose to pursue a career in nursing willingly (63.4%). Most participants were proud of being nursing students (85.4%). The majority of the participants stated that the COVID-19 pandemic had positively affected the image of nursing. Most participants noted that they were happy about the posts shared on social media platforms about nursing. Participants had a mean "Scale for the Image of Nursing Profession" score of 148.51±16.5. Gender and conscious choice of the nursing profession explained 6% of the total variance. Taking pride in being a nursing student explained 10% of the total variance (p<0.05). Conclusion: Nursing has a positive image in the eyes of nursing students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some variables (gender, conscious choice of the profession, and taking pride in being a nursing student) are significant predictors of the image of nursing in the eyes of nursing students. Background: Nurses are effective in changing the negative perceptions of society about the profession. Hence, it is important to determine the professional image levels of nurses and to determine their ideas for strengthening their professional image levels. Purpose: This study was carried out to determine the professional image levels of nurses and their ideas for strengthening their professional image during the Covid 19 period. Methods: A descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted online. In the study, the snowball sampling method was used, and a total of 305 nurses participated between August 2020 and May 2021. Results: The study found that 67.8% of nurses were not satisfied with the view of society on the current nursing image, and 76.3% of nurses themselves were not satisfied with the current image of nursing. Suggestions to strengthen the image of nursing were: raising the education level (28.0%), the society, government, and administrators should value nursing (19%), and improving the salary and working conditions (17.8%). Regarding the relationship between ideas to strengthen nurses' professional image and their professional image education subdimension scores, it was observed that the scores of those who suggested increasing nurses' level of education were significantly higher than those who suggested improving their salaries and working conditions (p=0.016). Conclusion: In our study, it was determined that the image levels of nurses had increased compared to the pre-pandemic period. The article examines the issue of formation of the professional image of an education manager as a psychological and pedagogical phenomenon. The authors point out the relevance of the research problem, because professional educational management characterizes the level of corporate culture, the degree of commitment of employees to their educational institution, motivation for pedagogical activity, affects the image of the educational organization. The main task of the publication is to reveal the essence of the professional image of the education manager as a psychological-pedagogical phenomenon through the prism of research by Ukrainian and foreign scientists and scientific studies on pedagogical management, based on the analysis of modern approaches of scientists to the outlined problem. It is emphasized that the problem of forming a positive image of an education manager is one of the most urgent in modern pedagogical science, since in recent years' scientific works have appeared dedicated to various aspects of image formation of specialists from various fields of education. Researchers note that the effectiveness of the work of the educational institution is determined by qualitative and quantitative indicators, directly by the students, participants in the educational process, and the relevant structures that monitor the quality of educational services. The authors clarified the essence of the key concepts of the study, revealed their structure, described the components, and analyzed the functions. It is indicated that the professional image of the education manager under the modern realities of reforms and transformations of the educational system is defined as an interesting psychological and pedagogical phenomenon that becomes the subject of scientific studies, going beyond the boundaries of psychological and pedagogical disciplines and acquiring transdisciplinary significance. The article comprehensively characterizes the image of an education manager, which is defined as a harmonious set of internal qualities and external characteristics, an integral professional asset that contributes to his successful interaction with colleagues, students of education, partners and competitors, consumers of educational services. This study aims to explore the perceptions of patients and family caregivers on the image of nurses and midwives in Ghana. The study adopted a qualitative exploratory descriptive approach. A total of 25 participants were interviewed during data collection. Content and thematic analysis were applied in the data analysis to develop themes. The findings are captured under two major themes that describe the primary influences on participant images of nurses: Thus, (1) nurses' and midwives' attributes with four subthemes; staff appearance, communication strategies and behaviors, work attitudes, and professional competence and (2) patients' status and subthemes were; uneducated poor and educated rich. We conclude that patients and families in Ghana recognize the professional attributes of the nurse and midwife, which reflect in their personality, grooming, communication, competencies, and attitudes. However, low publicity of the professional roles of nurses and midwives may have negative repercussions for their professional image. A policy to perform a regular public audit on the image of the Nurse/Midwife is important for professional advancement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Although nursing has made progress as a profession, there are still some negative myths to be dispelled. Purpose: This descriptive, cross‐sectional study was conducted to determine the nursing image perceived by the society during the Covid‐19 pandemic. Methods: The research population consisted of 663 people who were not in the nursing profession in Turkey. The data were collected with a sociodemographic data form that was prepared by the researchers and a questionnaire that contained questions on the image of nursing. The McNemar Test was used for statistical analysis. Results: Individuals have positive views towards the nursing profession compared to the prepandemic period. Nursing is accepted as a profession that is well known (82.8%), respected (69.8%) and difficult working conditions (88.2%) by individuals in the society (p <.05). However, nursing profession is still perceived as "doctors' assistant" (71.5%). Conclusion: Although nurses are more visible during the pandemic period and there are positive changes in public perception of the nursing profession, some unfortunate traditional perceptions persist. The article deals with the healthcare institution manager's deontological culture as one of the components of the professional image. It has been emphasized that the scientific and methodological literature presents scientists' extensive ideas regarding the issues of deontological culture, image, professional culture, and professional ethics. The aim of the article was to determine the relationship between the healthcare institution manager's deontological culture and the professional image. Professional image and deontological culture are interconnected because they are based on moral and ethical principles. The components of a professional image from the standpoint of deontology have been defined as the communication culture, corporate culture, teamwork, leadership qualities, conflict resolution skills. Background: Nursing students' professional perceptions are affected by the environment they live in. Nursing students think that the nursing profession is important during the pandemic. Purpose: This descriptive, cross‐sectional study was conducted to determine the nursing students' professional image perceptions and the affecting factors during the Covid‐19 pandemic in Turkey. Methods: The research population consisted of all nursing students (N = 750) of two universities in Turkey. The research data were collected using a personal information form and the Scale for the Image of Nursing Profession (SINP). Results: Of the students, 76.4% were not infected with Covid‐19, 30.8% had an individual in their family infected with Covid‐19; 34% had an immediate family member who died of Covid‐19; 99.4% thought that the nursing profession is important during the Covid‐19 pandemic. A statistically significant difference was found between the place where the students live and the SINP (p <.05). Conclusion: The students' image perceptions toward the nursing profession were found to be at a good level. This indicates that image perception toward nursing profession has increased during the pandemic. It can be said that the place where the students are in the pandemic process and their thoughts about the nursing profession affect their professional image perceptions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article deals with the importance of future civil servants' business etiquette development as a component of their professional image. The aim of the article was to determine the role of future civil servants' business etiquette development as a part of professional image. The article examines the scholars' viewpoints on image, professional image and business etiquette. It has been noted that business etiquette concerns not only the norms and rules of behaviour, respect for others, but also speech culture. The courses of general and professional training are of great importance for the future civil servants' of business etiquette development, where a special place is given to the course "Image and Ethics in Public Administration". The authors note that in addition to lectures and practical classes, the students' independent work, the students' participation in scientific conferences, meeting with public figures (deputies, deputy mayors and territorial communities chairmen), the work of the academic group supervisor play and important role in future civil servants' business etiquette development. Amaç: Bu çalışma, Bingöl Üniversitesi Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi Hemşirelik Bölümü’nde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin mesleğe yönelme faktörleri, mesleki imaj ve beklentilerine ilişkin görüşlerini saptamak amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır.Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırmanın evrenini, 2018-2019 Akademik yılında Bingöl Üniversitesi Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi Hemşirelik Bölümü’nde öğrenimlerini sürdüren 286 öğrenci oluştururken, örneklemini ise araştırmanın uygulanmasına destek veren ve katılmaya gönüllü olan 251 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Araştırma verileri, 15 Şubat – 15 Mart 2019 tarihleri arasında toplanmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin toplanmasında, “Anket Formu” ve “Hemşirelik İmajı Ölçeği HİÖ ” kullanılmıştır.Bulgular: Çalışmaya 160 kadın, 91 erkek olmak üzere 251 hemşirelik öğrencisi katılmıştır. Öğrencilerin genellikle yaşadığı yer il merkezi %65,3 , baba eğitim durumları ortaöğretim %30,7 ve anne eğitim durumları okuryazar değil %49 şeklindedir. Öğrencilerin %28,3’ü hemşirelik bölümünden memnun olduklarını ifade etmiştir. Öğrencilerin %83,7’si üniversite öncesi mesleği tanıdığını, %58,2’si ise tekrar hemşireliği seçebileceğini ifade etmiştir. Öğrencilerin Hemşirelik İmajı Ölçeği genel görünüm alt boyutu ortalamasının 10,96±2,05 olduğu, iletişim alt boyutu ortalamasının 9,22±2,80, mesleki ve eğitsel nitelikler alt boyutu ortalamasının 20,06±3,73 ve ölçek toplam puan ortalamasının ise 40,25±6,33 olduğu saptanmıştır. Hemşirelik İmaj Ölçeği alt boyut ve toplamından alınabilecek en yüksek ve en düşük puanlara göre; çalışmaya katılan bireylerdeki hemşirelik imajının orta düzeyde olumlu olduğu söylenebilir.Sonuç: Öğrencilerin büyük bir kısmının üniversite öncesi mesleği tanıdığı, hemşirelik imaj ölçeğinden aldıkları puan ortalamalarının yüksek olduğu 40,25±6,33 ve bu öğrencilerin hemşirelik mesleğine karşı olumlu bakış açısı sergiledikleri görülmüştür. Mesleği tanımanın ve olumlu bakış açısının hemşirelik imajını etkilediği ve ölçek puan ortalamasını yükselttiği görülmüştür. Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda, öğrencilere üniversiteye başlamadan önceki eğitim hayatlarında meslek tanıtımlarının ve eğitimlerinin verilmesi, hemşirelik mesleğinin rol ve sorumluluklarının anlatılması önerilmektedir

The article analyses the meaning and role of image in professional activity. The process of formation of the content of the «image» concept, its semantic connections and relations have been investigated in a historical retrospective from the Ancient World to until now. The features of the image concept interpretation in the management, pedagogy, psychology, and sociology spheres have been studied. It has been established that the image is the result of the perception of a person by various social groups; it is formed under the influence of a number of factors and mutually influential actions. The essence of the image is reflected by the concepts «fashion», «icon», «reputation», «prestige», «presentation (assessment)», «symbol». At the same time, in the social consciousness, the image is a value affecting the success of any activity. The relevance of shaping the image of the head of an educational institution has been clarified. It is noted that the head of an educational institution has a complex professional image, which serves as a management tool to achieve the strategic goals and objectives of that educational institution. Such an image affects the prestige of the institution, shapes a positive opinion and trust in the entire teaching staff, and ensures the quality of educational services. It was determined that the professional image of the head of an educational institution manifests itself in different ways for parents and applicants for education, for subordinates and colleagues, as well as for government agencies. It has been established that the image of the heads of an educational institution is a dynamic characteristic of their personality, contributes to the manifestation of internal attitudes, personal qualities, life positions, pedagogical and managerial skills and professionalism. It has been determined that the indicators of professional image include such features as: appearance, behaviour, peculiarities of communication and organization of pedagogical interaction in the professional sphere, the level of professional culture. It has been concluded that the shaping of the image is the process of implementing the program of self-development of the heads of an educational institution through hard work on themselves, in order to increase the level of their own professional and personal competencies.

The structural components of the future marine engineers’ professional image have been identified in the article: motivation-targeted, content-oriented, reflective and communicative. Thus, under the motivation-target component, the authors describe professional motivation, satisfaction from material needs and a motive for personal image. In accordance with the requirements of the STCW Convention, at the operation level, the content-oriented component is indicated by sufficient future marine engineers’ competence in information technologies alongside their skills to use them. It has been determined that according to the communicative component, a bachelor-marine engineer with a high level of readiness for intercultural communication is more competitive in the labour market and has significant advantages as follows: can recognise and overcome barriers to intercultural communication; can anticipate and quickly resolve various conflict situations; can creatively use his / her knowledge in profession-related activities as well as ethical norms and rules of conduct with representatives of other cultures. It has been proved that in terms of forming the reflective component of the marine engineers` professional image, it is expedient to cover these components: sufficient theoretical baggage, which is formed by the future marine engineer within training and self-education; bringing practical skills of performing basic actions on ship equipment control to automatism; the ability to analyse actions, make decisions in dangerous and emergency situations, the ability to self-analyse their actions; the ability to draw conclusions based on the results of analysis and work experience, etc. The authors of the article pay attention to the urgency of the problem and the need to provide the educational process with scientific and methodological recommendations aimed at the formation of the professional image of marine engineers, which provides an integrated approach to solve the problem under focus, to involve academic staff and highly qualified specialists of seagoing vessels.

The article addresses the problem of development of the professional image of a foreign language teacher in Ukraine. The present study was contemplated to ascertain the attitude of university students in Ukraine towards the studied notion and reveal the level of its formation. The structure of the professional image of future foreign language teachers consist of several underlying constructs which have been described in the paper: cognitive, axiological and operational components. Results show that Ukrainian teachers-to-be held different perceptions to the notion of professional image of a foreign language teacher. The purpose of this survey is to provide suggestion of organizational, personal and pedagogical conditions to facilitate the development of professional image of future foreign language teachers in Ukrainian higher education institutions.

Amaç: Araştırma, hemşirelik öğrencilerinin mesleki imaj algılarının ve etkileyen faktörlerin belirlenmesi amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak planlanmıştır.Yöntem: Çalışmanın evrenini, İstanbul ilinde bulunan özel bir üniversitede Sağlık Bilimleri Yüksekokulu’nun hemşirelik bölümünde okuyan tüm öğrenciler (N=350) oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada örneklem seçimi yapılmamış, gönüllü olarak katılmayı kabul eden 196 öğrenci araştırma kapsamına alınmıştır. Araştırma verileri “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ve “Hemşirelik Mesleğine Yönelik İmaj Ölçeği (HMYİÖ)” kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Bulgular: Katılımcıların yaş ortalaması 21,28±2,00 yıl (18-29) ve %74’ü kadın olup, ölçeğin toplam puan ortalamasının 140,88±9,46 (min 42-max 210) olduğu bulundu. Introduction. In modern Russian society, the requirements for the general level of the school educational process have resulted not only from the demands related to the content of educational programmes, but also from sufficiently high requirements for a teacher personality. A modern teacher has to build up a holistic and harmonious image, ranging from stylish and modern appearance to a high level of professionalism. The image of a teacher directly or indirectly influences the effectiveness of the mutual action of the members of education. Therefore, the reflection of various aspects, which form the image of the teacher in order to correct it in accordance with the existing school realities, is a relevant direction of psychological research.The aim of the present research is to identify the most significant and preferred characteristics of the image of a modern teacher in the perceptions of high school students.Methodology and research methods. The methodological framework of the research is based on psychosemiotic approaches in social psychology: the concept of modern psychosemiotics of communication by E. A. Petrova and theoretical positions of objective and subjective psychosemantics by E. Yu. Artemyeva, V. F. Petrenko and A. G. Shmelev. The selection of psychodiagnostic methods was based on three-factor models of imageological space organisation. The perceptions of high school students about such characteristics of the image as the appearance of the “ideal” and “bad” teacher were studied using a projective technique. The method of free semantic survey, supplemented by the method of “Factor Space of the Teacher Image” by E. A. Petrova, was used to study personal, professional and communicative features. Such method allowed the authors to structure the students’ ideas about the image of the teacher by categories related to personal characteristics: attitude to own profession, attitude to students and educational activities. The images of teachers of different types were created through the psychosemantic technique developed by D. Peabody in A. G. Shmelev’s adaptation. The non-parametric criterion of differences – Mann-Whitney U-test was employed to identify the differences in high school students’ ideas about the image of the modern “ideal” teacher depending on gender.Results and scientific novelty. It was established that the attitude of high school students to the teacher mostly depends on teacher’s professional and personal qualities. School students especially highlighted the following aspects: the high level of mastery over the subject taught; teachers’ ability to interest students in educational material; cooperation with students and objective assessment of their knowledge. Significant positive personality characteristics included the ability to interact constructively and kindly with each student, as well as the high level of activity and positive energy of the teacher. The students think that a teacher’s appearance does not play a determining role. However, the respondents noted that it is important for them that the teacher prefers the business style of clothing and looks modern and neat.Practical significance. The research results can be applied in the practice of school psychological service and in coaching activities in order to inform the teaching staff and interested teachers about the role of image when building effective interactions in the system “teacher-student”.

Рассматривается необходимость изучения роли имиджа, влияющего на процесс подготовки студентов – будущих педагогов-хореографов в образовательном процессе на примере вуза культуры и искусств. Профессиональный имидж – важная компетенция каждого педагога-хореографа и востребованное профессиональное качество, непосредственно повышающее эффективность педагогической деятельности. Проблемой выступает соответствие имиджа педагога и качества образования, которое он транслирует обучающимся. Именно имидж педагога оказывает непосредственное влияние на педагогическое взаимодействие участников образовательного процесса, регулирует нормы дозволенности в процессе обучения и определяет в целом степень вовлеченности обучающегося в педагогический процесс. Приведены результаты исследования отношения к имиджу преподавателей хореографических дисциплин, осуществляющих подготовку студентов – будущих педагогов-хореографов. Представлены результаты исследования оценки имиджа преподавателей студентами – будущими педагогами-хореографами. Предложена идея изучения роли имиджа в рамках освоения содержания учебной дисциплины «Психология и педагогика хореографического искусства (Педагогика)».

The COVID-19 pandemic has placed social work in the limelight alongside the various medical professions and has created a rare opportunity for transforming the oppressed image of the profession. Based on a broad perspective—historical, social and political—we show how the development of a collective needs-conscious identity can lead to active protests on the part of social workers against their condition. This process is brought into sharp focus by critical analysis of media reports on the protests held by social workers in Israel in July 2020. An analysis of the struggle points to a number of factors that are responsible for its success: creating a collective consciousness with respect to the profession and the use of anger (as against fear); increasing the visibility of the profession in the public eye and the media; developing a dialogue that defined the party responsible for oppressing the status of the social workers; highlighting the ramifications of this oppression not only on the social workers but also on society as a whole; and using rhetoric that enabled the professional struggle to be ended and collaboration to be continued. Background: Determining the professional image perceptions of the first-year nursing students who have recently chosen the nursing profession is of great importance in delineating the profession profile. The present study aimed to determine the image perception of first-year nursing students and its related factors. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional research was conducted in the Fall semester of the 2019-2020 academic year. In total, 105 first-year nursing students were selected from the Nursing Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Bursa Uludağ University in Turkey. The study subjects were recruited randomly. A Student Identification Form and the Image Scale for the Nursing Profession were used as data collection tools. Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis tests were applied for analyzing the obtained data in SPSS. Results: The Mean±SD score of the Image Scale for the Nursing Profession was achieved as 149.06±11.19. In the light of transformations, which happen in the contemporary society in general and in the higher education sphere in particular, the practical and theoretical significance of the problem of University professor image making is growing. The purpose of this paper is to find out what today’s students think about their professors, which parts of their images students find the most important and prioritized. To this end, an experimental research of student’s opinions about university professor’s image was carried out. This paper provides the analysis of its results. The method of research consisted of oral and written interviews, as well as interviews in social networks. The analysis resulted in considering key features of the image of a contemporary university professor and in giving recommendations on the technology of positive image making. The paper shows that the dominant features of the image are professors’ professionalism and expertise in a specific subject area, their pedagogical competence as an ability to implement productive educational process and an emotional intelligence. The paper contains many practical examples which show the legitimacy of students’ priorities in part of image features of their professors.

• An outdated brand image projects nurses as lacking in influence and autonomy. • Nurses could use branding principles to develop and promote their desired image. • Branding is most effective when members agree on a set of shared values. • A strong brand message is built on "consistency of message and action over time." • Research is needed which could inform an accurate brand image for nursing. Nurses have been overlooked as autonomous healthcare providers due to an inaccurate image which projects them as caring and trusted, yet lacking in influence and autonomy. It is important for nurses to understand the image their profession wishes to convey, how the image falls short, and what can be done to improve it. To examine responses of Registered Nurses (n = 286) describing factors influencing nursing's inconsistent brand image. Qualitative data were thematically coded, analyzed, and grouped into eight influencing factors. Factors contributing to nursing's inconsistent image included: variety of education/credentials, image not a priority, lack of leadership development, lack of professionalism, portrayals in the media and online, patients' personal experiences, treatment by other professional colleagues and gender role assumptions. Objective: This study was carried out as a descriptive study in order to determine the opinions of students who are studying in Bingöl University Faculty of Health Sciences Nursing Department related to their occupational image and expectations. Material and Methods: The population of the study consisted of 286 students attending Bingöl University Faculty of Health Sciences Nursing Department in 2018-2019 Academic Year while the sample consisted of 251 students who volunteered to participate in the study. The data were collected between 15 February and 15 March 2019. "Survey Form" and "Nursing Image Scale (SC), were used to collect the data. Results: The study included 251 nursing students (160 females and 91 males). The place where the students generally live is the provincial center (65.3%), the father education status is secondary education (30.7%) and the mother education status is not literate (49%). 28.3% of the students stated that they were satisfied with the nursing department. 83.7% of the students stated that they knew the profession before the university and 58.2% stated that they could choose nursing again. The mean size of the sub-dimension of the students is 10.96 ± 2.05, the mean of communication sub-dimension is 9.22 ± 2.80, the mean of vocational and educational qualifications sub-dimension is 20,06 ± 3,73 and the total score of the scale is 40,25 ± 6,33. According to the highest and the lowest scores that can be obtained from the subscale and total of Nursing Image Scale; it can be said that the nursing image of the participants was moderately positive. Conclusion: It was observed that the majority of the students knew the profession before the university and the mean scores they received from the nursing image scale were high (40,25 ± 6,33) and they showed a positive perspective towards the nursing profession. It has been observed that recognition of the profession and positive outlook affect the image of nursing and increase the average score of the scale. In line with these results, it is recommended that the students should be given occupational presentations and trainings in the educational life prior to starting university and the roles and responsibilities of the nursing profession should be explained. The aim of the research is to substantiate, design pedagogical system of future English teachers’ professional image forming at pedagogical institutions of higher education and verify experimentally its effectiveness. The research was conducted within the mixed methodology in two stages: theoretical and empirical. In the context of theoretical stage the essence of the professional image of English teacher was defined, based on personality’s role theory, its structure was clarified and pedagogical system of its targeted forming at pedagogical institutions of higher education was developed. Research findings made it possible to identify pedagogical factors influencing the future English teachers’ professional image forming as well as pedagogical conditions, which allow achieving positive results in the process of its formation at pedagogical higher educational institutions. Obtained theoretical results have been introduced into the educational process of pedagogical higher educational institutions of Ukraine within the pedagogical experiment (empirical stage) in order to be experimentally testified. Statistical processing of obtained experimental data ensured the validity and objectivity of the research results and verified the effectiveness of the proposed pedagogical system. The research results point to the fact that the proposed pedagogical system provides the high quality of image training of future English teachers’ at higher pedagogical educational institutions. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage worldwide, Taiwan has achieved outstanding performance in controlling the spread of the outbreak domestically, earning global appreciation. Nurses on the frontlines deserve much of the credit for the ongoing success in fighting against this outbreak in Taiwan. Taiwan's success to date is grounded in proactive preparedness and deployment by the government and effective teamwork among government agencies, medical institutions, enterprises, and the public. Comprehensive containment strategies and preparedness have allowed nurses to effectively perform their duties and combat the pandemic. Nurses safeguard the public's health a myriad of ways, including implementing quarantine measures at air and seaports, conducting fever screenings, delivering inpatient isolation treatments, performing case contact tracing, providing community care services, and operating special chartered-flight services. The Taiwan Nurses Association (TWNA) provides vital lead in this pandemic response, advocating for the safety, health and wellbeing of nurses; highlighting the contributions and value of nurses; and enhancing the professional image and status of nurses. Furthermore, through its global platform, TWNA shares with peer organizations worldwide the content and efficacy of actions taken by the national government, the contributions of healthcare workers, and the support and encouragement received from the public in COVID-19 containment to demonstrate values of Taiwan and nursing. Aims: To explore registered nurses' perceptions towards the role of advanced practice nurses and to examine registered nurses' interests in becoming advanced practice nurses. Background: Globally, the development and implementation of advanced practice nurses have been deemed propitious. Advanced practice nurses are recruited and developed from the current pool of registered nurses. Empirical research is needed to inform practice on ensuring the sustainability of the advanced practice nurse workforce through the recruitment and development of the current population of registered nurses. Methods: A nationwide cross‐sectional online survey was conducted in Singapore. Registered nurses from all public health care institutions were surveyed. Results: Respondents (n = 1,025) displayed optimism and acceptance towards advanced practice nurses. However, only 30.7% hoped to become advanced practice nurses. Nursing leaders were reported to have a low success rate in identifying registered nurses who were both suitable and interested in the advanced practice nurse role. Conclusions: Registered nurses' positive perspectives towards the role of advanced practice nurses do not translate into interests in the role. The study offers pragmatic applicability in ensuring the sustainability of the advanced practice nurse workforce. Implications for Nursing Management: Advanced practice nurse‐specific residency programmes for pre‐master registered nurses may be facilitative to retaining and recruiting registered nurses for the advanced practice nurse workforce. Strategic approaches to the professional image formation of water transport professionals should be considered using a defined model of economic development for water transport companies, followed by a description of the recommended measures. The algorithm of transport company development model, as a rule, has its economic sectoral features where the company operates. However, in this approach, important elements of the participation of human resources in the implementation of the company development strategy, which, in particular, suggest possible variations of combinations of managerial decisions. Thus, the transport industry is no exception. The authors of the article propose the procedure and main stages in the strategy development for the professional image formation in terms of introduction of the model of water transport companies development, and introduce new definition of the concept "strategic role of professional image in the model of water transport companies development " and use it as a tool for internal analysis of transport company as a significant complement to the definition of the term "transport company development strategy". The existing experience of research on the problems of professional image influence on the final results of activity in the maritime industry companies taking into account differences of transport services are considered in the article. It is clarified that the analysis of the market in which the transport company operates is determined by the definition of the company's field of activity, research of competitors in this field, strategic assets and strategic competence. Considering that the strategy of transport company development is the mutualism of the main goals of the company and the system of management decisions, the authors of the research have identified the main stages of strategic analysis of the transport company activity, the main ways and requirements for the acquisition of strategic competence. Background/Objectives: This study was designed to assess the actual state of optometrist' image, to determine their identity, and to provide fundamental feedback to improve their image. Method/Statistical Analysis: The study involved 303 students, 179 of whom were majoring in optometry, while 124 were not. The subjects were asked to answer an online questionnaire survey in order to analyze optometrist' images. The collected data were compared and analyzed at a significance level of 0.05 using SPSS 18.0. Findings: In terms of optometrist' general image, optometry major students rated it 3.75, while non-major students gave it 4.02 points (p<0.05). The traditional image scored 4.15 and 4.0, respectively; the social image scored 3.70 and 3.54; the professional image scored 4.18 and 4.02; the social participation image scored 3.66 and 3.48; and the interpersonal relationship image scored 3.92 and 3.70. The scores for all images were statistically significantly different (p<0.05). Improvements/Applications: The results suggested that optometrist, both as a group and individually, need to make efforts in social voluntary service and social contribution to improve their social participation image, as well as efforts toward social status image improvement to enhance their social image.
