The diagnosis or rare, non-hematologic malignant lesions of the liver may be a challenge owing to the rarity of the disease, and is usually made by histological confirmation. Ultrasound with color Doppler and contrast-enhanced, if required, taking into account the clinical background of the patient, may help to focus the differential diagnosis. In this review, we describe the pathological and ultrasound features of rare malignant neuroendocrine and predominantly epithelioid liver lesions including primary neuroendocrine tumor of the liver, Invasive mucinous cystic neoplasm of the liver, and also hepatoblastoma. A large extended family of tumors classified as neuroendocrine tumors most commonly occurs in the gastrointestinal tract and bronchus pulmonary tree. It is extremely unusual for a primary neuroendocrine tumor to present as a cervical lymph node mass at initial presentation. We discuss the rare case of a 55-year-old man who initially complained of a right neck mass that was misinterpreted as non-Hodgkin lymphoma on fine needle aspiration cytology. By integrating clinical findings, radiography, fine-needle aspiration cytology, histomorphology, and immunohistochemistry analysis, a definitive diagnosis of primary neuroendocrine carcinoma of the cervical lymph node was made. He received chemotherapy and decompressive radiation as treatment. Regarding the course of disease in the present case, the patients underwent a distant subcutaneous metastasis over the right anterior chest wall 10 months after the initial manifestation. Primary neuroendocrine tumor (NET) of bladder is rare. It has four subtypes, and large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) is the rarest. LCNEC affects mostly men over 60. Most common symptom is gross hematuria. It has no specific treatment. Metastasis is common and once occurred, average survival would be less than three months. Herein we present diagnostic and therapeutic management of a 65-year-old female with LCNEC of bladder and concurrent high-grade urothelial carcinoma. Despite developing early liver metastasis, she achieved a one-year tumor-free survival.

Liver is the most common site for neuroendocrine metastasis. However, primary neuroendocrine tumor is a rare focal hepatic lesion with a better prognosis than hepatocellular carcinoma and other malignant hepatic lesions. We present a case of primary hepatic neuroendocrine tumor in a 38-year-old female patient with a radiological diagnosis of atypical focal hepatic lesion, and a confirmed diagnosis on histopathology. Few radiology features like predominant cystic component with absence of focal lesion at any other site, aids the imaging diagnosis of primary hepatic neuroendocrine tumor.

Neuroendocrine tumors (Carcinoid tumors) generally arise from enterochromaffin cells of gut and bronchi. Primary carcinoid tumors of spine are extremely rare and have been described in sacrum and coccyx. Primary carcinoid tumors involving the spinal cord are still rarer, and review of literature revealed only two cases reported. Our patient a 39-year-old male had diagnosed as a case of nerve sheath tumor (intradural extramedullary) at LV4 region on neuroimaging. However, postoperatively, the tumor turned out to be a rare primary spinal carcinoid tumor on histopathological examination and immunohistochemical staining. The purpose of this article is to review the existing English scientific literature and determine the superior modality between transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and radioembolization (TARE) in the treatment of neuroendocrine liver metastases (NELMs). To that end, we followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines to search PubMed, the Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar. We identified 14 observational studies and no randomized controlled trials (RCTs) investigating the use of TACE or TARE to treat NELM. We used the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale to assess the risk of bias in these studies. We concluded that TACE and TARE appeared to have similar outcomes when comparing overall survival, progression-free survival, radiological response, symptomatic response, and the incidence of severe adverse events. Further large-scale RCTs are needed to identify the superior modality conclusively. Pheochromocytomas are tumors arising from catecholamine secreting cells of adrenal glands. Extra adrenal gland pheochromocytomas are called paragangliomas. They account for 15% of all pheochromocytomas. Paraganglioma arising in the urinary bladder is extremely rare accounting for 0.06% of all urinary bladder tumor cases. We present a case of a 55-year-old female patient who complained of pain in abdomen and intermittent haematuria subsequently. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) pelvis was done which gave the possibility of paraganglioma. An excision of bladder mass was done and sent for histopathology. On histopathology accompanied by immunohistochemistry, a final diagnosis of paraganglioma was given. Primary hepatic neuroendocrine tumors (PHNETs) are an utterly rare subtype of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) that arise from cells of the neuroendocrine system. Due to the rarity and lack of distinctive radiological features, diagnosis and management of this tumor are challenging. Herein, we report a case of PHNET in a 19-year-old previously healthy female patient whose diagnosis was confirmed by histopathology and immunohistochemistry.
