The backgrounds and careers of lawyer-corporate chief executive officers in each of three historical populations of corporate chief executive officers are examined. Data indicate that the backgrounds of lawyer-chief executives frequently include attendance at prestigious undergraduate educational institutions and law schools and initial positions in large, prestigious law firms. This article examines the comprehensiveness of Who's Who in America coverage of elites and the extent of biographical data reported in Who's Who in America biographies using two business elite populations derived from standard sources. Who's Who in America coverage of the two business elite populations appeared fairly comprehensive when three editions were examined for each population. The extent of data reported in Who's Who in America biographies varied greatly by type of data. with more “sensitive” types less likely to be reported. These results are discussed. This article has identified and conceptually codified two common interactional patterns through which a marijuana user establishes the relationships of trust necessary for his drug-related activity. This basis for trust in these two interactional patterns differs greatly. The disclosure pattern provides the marijuana user with a coherent set of "identity documents" a basis for defining another person as trustworthy. The extension pattern provides the marijuana user with a trusted third party's definition of another person as trustworthy as a basis for defining that other individual as trustworthy. Although this examination of the two interactional patterns derives from interviews and observations of marijuana users, simple observation would suggest that these two interactional patterns, or variations upon them, account for the establishment of trust in many other relationships besides those of the marijuana user. Probably, these two patterns are only somewhat more exaggerated among marijuana users due to the marijuana user's exceptional problems with trust. The representation of large corporations on the advisory committees of executive branch departments and regulatory agencies in the years 1973 and 1977 was examined, using two indicators of such representation. Corporate representation declined during this period, probably as a consequence of provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act of 1972.
