The economic value of culture production depends on the territory and the social structure of the economy. The cultural district imposes the transition from the single-chain to the multi-chain system of production in order to evaluate the relations with the sectors of the culture production process and with all the other traditional sectors. In this prospective economic models and accounting schemes able to describe the economic/ social/environmental relations between the agents are required. As in the tourism, using open multisectoral models and disaggregated accounting schemes, allows to respond to this exigency. Indeed such instruments provide a full detailed description of production processes and an accurate disaggregation of economic agents according to spatial and social characteristics. This allows developing a general analysis with the possibility to identify the direct and indirect interrelations between the economic activities and institutional sectors connected to culture. In this paper we use two models such as CGE (Computable General Equilibrium) and SAM (Social Accounting Matrix) to provide an ex-ante and ex-post evaluation of public programs to support the production of culture in order to quantify the socio-economic effects of such expenditure and suggest alternative destinations for public resources.

The sustainability of the health care expenditure is a topic that at the present time is strongly discussed in the literature. Indeed the "health industry” can be considered as a strategic one within the industries that shape the economy, since it is able to stimulate many other production processes, within the economy, that activate, at their turn, the sectoral income generation. Thus the policy maker has the possibility of implementing a policy, in health care, able to achieve a composite objective: the level of public health care expenditure should be made consistent with the growth path of the economy sought after, both in the aggregate and in its sectoral composition. In this work we concentrate on health expenditure and income generation trying to verify the impact of a change in the inner composition of the health care demands. Our aim is that of determining the impacts of the announced new allocation of health care expenditure in U.S. alongside the multisectoral income circular flow. We develop a dynamic CGE model, calibrated on an USA Social Accounting Matrix, that we have purposely built, in which health care reform and its direct and indirect effects on the main macroeconomic variables are determined and quantified.

The Al-Ghab region in Syria is considered the typical resource rich poor area in a developing country. The possibility of activating economic growth goes through diversification in output, in order to stimulate the value added generation, and reduction of social and economic disparities between female and male labour employment. In this way also the problem of food insecurity is effectively addressed given its strong connection with the poverty level of households. The most suitable tool of analysis for addressing this complex target is provided by an extended multi-sector model developed on the basis of the SAM for the area of interest. In this paper, we develop a SAM for the Al-Ghab region and quantify the effects of selected policy scenarios in terms of economic diversification, female labour efficiency and food nutrition security for the Al-Ghab region. This is done in order to identify the pillars of economic growth of the area.
