Background: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) have been identified as the leading reason for morbidity and mortality in Saudi Arabia. Pharmacists play a major role in CVD prevention and health promotion. We aimed to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and involvement of pharmacists in CVD prevention and evaluate the influence of continuing medical education in CVD-prevention services in Saudi Arabia. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate the involvement of pharmacists in CVD-related prevention services along with their knowledge and attitudes. A 34-item questionnaire was developed and distributed among the participants. Results: A total of 324 responses were included in the study. More than 60% of pharmacists had provided counseling regarding the importance of healthy lifestyles and self-monitoring CVD risk factors. About half of the participants (49.1%) had never received any CVD-related continuing medical education. Overall, more than 60% of the participants reported positively towards their role in CVD prevention. Lack of time (66%) and lack of educational materials and tools (41%) were the top perceived barriers for providing CVD-prevention and health-promotion activities, followed by lack of skills in using tools (36%) and lack of privacy/space (33%). Conclusions: The involvement of pharmacists in the prevention of CVD is limited in this study. Further education and capacity building are required to strengthen pharmacists’ involvement in CVD-prevention and health-promotion activities.

Panax notoginseng (P.notoginseng) has been used traditionally to treat traumatic injuries.Ginsenoside Rb1, a key active ingredient derived from Panax notoginseng, has received a lot of interest due to its anti-inflammatory, bacteriostatic, and growth-promoting effectsoncells.The therapeutic benefits of ginsenoside Rb1 on burn wounds in STZ-induced diabetic rats, as well as the probable underlying processes, were investigated in this work. The skin wound healing effect of ginsenoside Rb1 (0.25% and 0.5% w/w) in a rat model of burn wounds in diabetic rats was observed at various time points after treatment. On days 5 and 19 following treatment,immunohistochemistry and Western blot analysis forIL-1β, TNF-α, CD68 and CD163 of biological tissues were done. The macroscopic observation was used to track the healing of skin wounds at various periods. The protein expression of CD68 and CD163, which serve as M1 and M2 macrophage markers, was examined in detail. More notably, the ability of ginsenoside Rb1 to alter inflammatory markers (IL-6) and anti-inflammatory markers (IL-10), influence on hydroxyproline and hexosamine was observed. As indicated by increased CD163 (M2) and reduced CD68 (M1) on day 5, ginsenoside Rb1 effectively flips the M1 to M2 phenotypic transition at the right time to improve burn wound healing in diabetic rats.Ginsenoside Rb1(0.5% w/w) treatment showed higher tensile strength, anti-inflammatory properties, antioxidant properties, increased tissue hexosamine and hydroxyproline levels. Skin tissue morphology was significantly improved following 19 days of ginsenoside Rb1 (0.5% w/w) therapy, according to hematoxylin-eosin and Masson's trichrome staining. Furthermore,Ginsenoside Rb1 (0.5% w/w) favoured the inflammatory phase of burn wound healing (IL-6), assisted the proliferation process (IL-10) and had considerably lower expression of IL-1β and TNF-α on the later stage of wound healing.Overall, the data showed that ginsenoside Rb1(0.5% w/w) accelerates burn wound healing in diabetic rats through a mechanism that may be linked to the M1 to M2 phenotypic shift.

Objective. To understand the impact of alternate warm and cold therapy (AWCT) on uricemia, sleep, pain, functional ability, and quality of life in gout patients. Methods. A quasiexperimental, nonequivalent control group, pre and posttest design was adopted among 120 gout patients. The data were collected on demographics, comorbidities, pain level, joint swelling/joint tenderness, patient global assessment of response to treatment (PGART), health-related quality of life (HRQoL) with SF-36, sleep quality by Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and serum uric acid and assessed. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. Results. Patients had mean age of 58 and 61 years, mean number of comorbidities was 1.8 and 1.4, as well as presence of arthritic comorbidities except gout was 1.1 and 0.8 among study and control group participants, respectively. Pain ( p < 0.001 ), PGART ( p = − 0.01 ), HRQoL, sleep quality, and level of SUA (mg/dl) improved significantly ( p < 0.01 ) among the study group over study periods. It affirms that the AWCT is effective in reducing pain, functional disability, and SUA, as well as improving the sleep quality and HRQoL of the gout patients. There was a reduced incidence of gout flares ( p < 0.001 ), and taking additional medicines for pain ( p < 0.01 ) was statistically significant among study participants. Except social functioning, other domains of health were significantly ( p < 0.05 ) affected by the comorbidities like hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, renal disease, and asthma/chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Conclusions. Gout is independently associated with higher medical and arthritic comorbidity, and AWCT can be better and cost-effective alternative therapy for gout patients. In addition, it may lead to improved cardiac function, hypertension, and renal insufficiency.

Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been causing a worldwide pandemic since the end of 2019. This study looked at the mental health of COVID-19 patients who had been quarantined. This cross-sectional study included fifty COVID - 19 patients who were under quarantine. Online self-reported questionnaires were used in the study. Demographic data and an inventory of pandemic-related stress factors (PRSF) were used to analyse COVID-19-related stress domains. The quarantined COVID - 19 patients had pandemic related stress among themselves. Lack of knowledge about infectiveness and virulence (78%), sleep disorders (94%), financial concerns (92 %) and feeling isolated and avoidance by others (90%) were the most common stressors. Eighty two percent of the patients felt that they were being protected by the family and relatives and only 48% felt that the government is taking the responsibility of protecting them. The findings show that COVID-19 patients in quarantine reported severe psychological distress. As a result, this study urge that required measures be taken to alleviate COVID-19 patients stress, with special focus paid to patients perceptions of stigma and coping techniques.

As adolescence is a transitional stage in which a person's physical and psychological development and transformation are limited to the time between puberty and legal adulthood. It is commonly associated with the onset of a variety of mental health or adjustment problems. This study was to find out the incidence of depression and the factors that contribute to it among higher secondary school students. A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted among 100 adolescents who were selected by simple random sampling technique. The socio-demographic information, Perceived Social Support scale and Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) were adopted to collect the data. Descriptive and Inferential statistics was used to analyse the collected data. In this study, 52% of the adolescents did not have depression, whereas 18% had moderate, 8% had moderate to severe depression and 2% of them had severe depression. Nearly 68% of students had a higher social support perception. The type of family and living status of parents had significant relationship with the level of depression among adolescents at p = 0.01. The study concludes that depression and mental distress among these adolescents may be alleviated by boosting their perceived degree of social support and self-esteem through a variety of methods such as family support, counselling at schools and workshops on self – management skills etc.

In low–middle-income countries, breast self-examination (BSE) is a simple, practicable, and appropriate tool for breast cancer screening. The goal of this study was to analyze female college students' knowledge and practice of BSE. A cross-sectional study of 200 female students was done using a convenient sampling technique. The self administered questionnaire with the socio-demographic data, questions about knowledge, attitudes and practice regarding BSE was used to collect the data among the female college students of an educational institution. The descriptive and inferential statistics was used to analyse the data. The results show that the level of knowledge on BSE among 77% of the girls was inadequate and 61% of them had negative practice towards BSE. Despite the good attitude (69%) about BSE, there was inadequate knowledge and practice. The participants' age and family history of breast cancer was positively associated with their attitude (p = 0.01) and knowledge (p= 0.05) respectively. The study recommends the mass awareness campaigns related to BSE and early detection of breast cancer to be given to improve the knowledge, attitude and practice of the women and thereby reduce the related morbidity and mortality.

Nursing is an essential component of all healthcare services, with the potential to have a significant and long-term impact on health outcomes for the world's ageing population. As their professional behaviour plays a major role in improving the quality of patient care, this study was conducted to determine the professional behaviour of nurses. A descriptive and cross-sectional study design was selected with fifty nurses working in a selected teaching hospital who were selected using convenient sampling technique. The Behavioural Inventory for Professionalism in Nursing (BIPN) was used to determine the professional behaviour of nurses. The inventory has a total possible composite score of 27. All of the items were dichotomous and questioned about the nurse's actions in the last two years. The autonomy and research were the areas where nurses receive the lowest mean ratings from the BIPN subscales. The nurse's mean scores in the areas of competence and continuous education (mean = 1.97), educational preparedness (mean = 1.87) and application of theory (mean = 1.73) were the highest with the mean total score from BIPN was 10.44± 3.55. The results showed that age, gender, nurses' role, their years of experience and educational status had a statistically significant association with professional behaviour. Hence, the ways to improve the professional behaviour among nurses to be investigated and must be supported to uplift the image of nursing and the quality of patient care.

Lower-limb varicose veins (VVs) are frequent, and they're known to be more common in persons who work in jobs that require a lot of standing. Because nursing demands physical labour and lengthy periods of standing, women in this profession are at a higher risk of getting varicose veins. The aim of this study is to assess the knowledge and practices on risk factors and prevention of varicose vein among operation room nurses of the selected hospitals. A cross-sectional research design was used among registered nursing staff working in operation rooms of the selected hospitals. The convenient sampling technique was used to select fifty nurses. A structured pre-tested, validated tool was developed by the investigators to collect data from the nurses which include demographic as well as knowledge and practice variables of varicose veins. The findings of the present study show that 26% of nurses had inadequate knowledge and 14% of operation room nurses had poor practices. Also, there was a positive correlation between the knowledge and practice of nurses (r = 0.71). There was significant association for practice skills score with education and years of experience at p=0.05. The study concludes that to prevent occupational hazards in nursing, periodic health education and health promotion initiatives must be implemented.

The dried root of Dipsacus asperoides is known as Radix Dipsaci extract(RDE). It's a kidney-toning herbal medication with a lengthy track record of safe usage in the treatment of bone fractures and joint disorders. The drug rosiglitazone (RSG) causes an imbalance in bone remodelling, which results in increased apoptotic death of osteogenic cells and decreased bone production. The goal of this study was to investigate the effects of RDE on RSGinduced bone loss in diabetic rats in a systematic way. Five groups of six Wistar albino rats were studied: control (vehicle therapy), Streptozotocin (diabetes) group, RDE group, Rosiglitazone, and Rosiglitazone +RDE group. Insulin, oxidative stress, and bone turnover markers in the blood were all detected using ELISA tests. When compared to diabetic control rats, RDE therapy significantly raised insulin and osteocalcin levels. RDE may be able to prevent diabetic osteoporosis by boosting osteogenesis and lowering oxidative stress in the bone.These findings support the use of RDE as a bone loss inhibiting in diabetics. A Quasi experimental design was adopted for this study to find out the effectiveness of quadriceps strengthening exercise program on pain and functional ability of women with knee osteoarthritis (OA). Fifty women with OA were selected in which first 25 women were enrolled in the control group and second 25 women were allotted in the exercise group. Assessments were performed at baseline and at 8 weeks. The functional ability was assessed using the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test and Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) was used to assess the pain level .For the exercise group, quadriceps strengthening exercises were taught and asked the patients to follow the exercise schedule for 8 weeks. Osteoporosis is a condition marked by a loss of bone mass and degradation of the bone microstructure, both of which lead to increased fragility and consequent fragility fractures, particularly in the elderly. Rhizoma Drynariae (DRE) is one of the most often used herbal remedies for osteoporosis therapy. Transdermal drug administration is a well- established new method for drug delivery that offers numerous benefits over conventional routes. Wistar albino rats were split into five groups of six rats each: vehicle control, diabeticgroup, DRE group, Canagliflozin (CGF), and CGF + DRE group. Each medication was given by gastric gavage once a day for 35 days. The drug canagliflozin appears to raise the risk of fractur. When compared to the control group, DRE treatment increased bone strength at the femoral diaphysis in osteoporotic fractures in rats by increasing ultimate load and stiffness. The goal of this study is to investigate the anti-osteoporosis effects of DRE in diabetic rats co-treated with CGF. Blood glucose levels and bone mineral density (BMD) were measured. According to the data, DRE produced a significant increase in bone amount. DRE may help prevent and cure diabetic osteoporosis by increasing bone mineral density, according to one study. The root of Pueraria labata, Puerariae radix(PR), a leguminous plant that grows wild, is one of the first and most significant basic herbs used in traditional medicine for a variety of therapeutic uses. PR is high in isoflavonoids including daidzein and genistein, which have been shown to protect against bone loss caused by oestrogen insufficiency. In an osteoporotic animal model, soybean isoflavones have been shown to reduce bone loss. CGF (canagliflozin) appears to raise the risk of fractur. In diabetic rats, the potential function of PR in reversing CGFinduced bone loss was investigated. A rat model was used to investigate the effects of Puerariae radix extract (PRE) on blood glucose, HBA1C levels, and bone mineral density. Control group (vehicle therapy), Diabetic group, `PRE group, Canagliflozin (CGF), and CGF +PRE group were all made up of six Wistar albino rats. Each medication was given by gastric gavage once a day for 35 days. PRE treatment increased bone mass substantially when compared to normal controls. Diabetes mellitus patients are more prone to suffer from bone fractures. Herba Epimedii has been demonstrated to be an osteoporosis reducer in the past. However, it is yet uncertain if Herba Epimedii may protect diabetic rats from bone loss when co-administered with rosiglitazone (RSG). This study examines the impact of Herba Epimedii on bone oxidative stress and turnover markers in diabetic rats co-treated with rosiglitazone (RSG). Streptozotocin (STZ) causes diabetics. Wistar albino rats were placed into five groups, each with six rats: control (vehicle therapy), Streptozotocin (diabetes) group, Herba Epimedii group, Rosiglitazone, and Rosiglitazone +Herba Epimedii. Each medication was given by gastric gavage once a day for 35 days. Insulin, oxidative stress, and bone turnover markers were measured in the blood using ELISA assays. Insulin and osteocalcin levels were significantly higher in diabetic rats administered Herba Epimedii than in diabetic control rats. Herba Epimedii may be able to prevent diabetic osteoporosis in RSG-treated diabetic rats by enhancing osteogenesis and lowering bone oxidative stress. Effective contraception plays a vital role in the economic advancement and reproductive health of women. This study aimed to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding contraception of female college students of a university. A descriptive study design was used with 100 female students of different departments including Arts and Science, engineering, nursing etc, who were selected by convenient sampling technique. A self reported tool was used with 3 sections including demographic data, knowledge questionnaire and a 3 point Likert scale to assess the attitude. The overall level of knowledge (8.86 ±3.56) shows that there was inadequate knowledge among the female college students on contraception. The overall percentage of female college students with a positive attitude was only 28.66%. There was no correlation between participants' knowledge of contraception and their attitudes about it. (x2 = 1.17, df = 1, p = 0.28). The study concludes that there is an urgent need to improve the knowledge of the female college students on contraception to prevent unwanted pregnancies as well as maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity. Stroke is the largest cause of death worldwide and the primary cause of disability. As a result, it was required to investigate the level of hypertension patients' knowledge of risk factors and warning symptoms. A descriptive cross- sectional study carried out among 200 hypertensive patients who were selected using purposive sampling technique. The tool was constructed with three sections: demographic data, risk factor awareness, and stroke signs and symptoms. The study results show that he total mean of knowledge on risk factors of stroke was 11.73 with the SD of 2.17 and warning signs was 9.61 with the SD of 1.99. The gender, age and level of education had significant relationship with knowledge of the hypertensive patients on risk factors of stroke at p=0.05 level. The study concludes that the majority of hypertension patients had insufficient understanding of stroke risk factors and warning symptoms. Hence, the first priority should be to raise public knowledge of hypertension and support primary prevention in order to reduce the morbidity and mortality related to stroke. Suctioning of the endotracheal tube in ventilated patients is one of the ways to maintain the airway open. There arevarious risks associated with this procedure. Suctioning methods that are appropriate for the situation can help to avoid acute problems. The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of open vs closed suction on cardiorespiratory parameters in patients on mechanical ventilations. Patients hospitalized to Neuro-ICU and Medical ICU with ventilator support was studied in a non-randomized clinical trial with a time series study design. Sixty samples were chosen using a convenient sampling procedure, including 30 for open suction and 30 for closed suction. Before and during suction, data such as demographic factors and cardio-respiratory parameters such as respiratory rate, heart rate, mean arterial pressure, and SpO2 were measured. In this study, statistically significant changes (p=0.001) in Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) and SpO2 were identified when open and closed suction systems were compared. According to the findings, closed suction has a significant favourable impact on cardiopulmonary parameters. Obesity and high blood pressure (BP) are well-known cardiovascular disease risk factors. As both risk factors have an impact early in life, and BP is linked to body weight. Both obesity and high BP should be prevented and controlled through early identiÀcation and prevention. The aim of this study was to assess how rope exercise improves BP and body mass index (BMI) in school children. The multi-stage cluster sampling technique was used in a true experimental design. Among 2,581 screened, 239 overweight and pre-hypertensive children were identiÀed using a pre-designed proforma and their demographic variables were collected. A total of 104 and 97 children were assigned to the research and control groups at random. A 6-week rope exercise programme was provided to the study group. Among the screened children, 239 children (9.26%) were overweight and among the overweight children, the prevalence of pre-hypertension was 32 percent. The results showed a signiÀcant reduction in weight and BP (p=0.000) and a positive correlation found between BMI and SBP (p=0.000), though it took longer time to bring the positive changes in dietary habits and DBP. The sex, family type, number of family members, and family history of chronic illness of children were found to have a signiÀcant relationship with BMI and SBP. The study concludes that rope exercise and dietary modiÀcations help to prevent, and also control obesity and hypertension and school health intervention is the need of the hour

Background: Pharmacists and other healthcare professionals (HCPs) are at risk of transmitting the lethal COVID-19 virus globally and increasing its prevalence. Aim: The aim of this study was to assess knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) about coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among HCPs in the Asir region for the first time. Methodology: A cross-sectional analysis with 491 healthcare professionals was tested using a pre-tested questionnaire in a tertiary care facility. The association between research variables and questions was determined using Chi-square tests and Kruskal–Wallis tests. Results: Pharmacists and other HCPs exhibited good knowledge, a positive attitude, and a negative practice pattern regarding COVID-19. There was a strong association between knowledge and attitude (correlation coefficient: 0.17; p < 0.001). However, healthcare practitioners had a suboptimal practice score of 2.09 ± 0.62 regarding COVID-19. Conclusion: This study discovered that despite relatively insufficient practices for adherence to recommended techniques regarding COVID-19 prevention during the outbreak, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals have a high level of awareness and a positive attitude towards COVID-19 as a medical condition. There is a need for more involved HCPs, improved COVID-19 management training, and approaches to make healthcare providers feel less anxious.

Introduction. This study aimed to assess higher secondary school teachers’ knowledge, attitude, and performance levels towards organ transplantation and donation (OTD). Teachers have an essential role in giving knowledge to children and teenagers, and they can influence their views. Organ transplantation offers re-life to many patients, yet organ shortages are a global issue. Teachers who influence students’ future attitudes regarding organ donation must have a favorable attitude and genuine knowledge. Materials and Methods. The research method was descriptive and cross-sectional. The sample size was 372 school teachers in Villupuram district of Tamilnadu, India, selected using a convenient sampling method. A survey questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge and attitude about OTD, the reason for donating/not donating organs. Multivariate analysis was performed to identify critical variables affecting intent to practice. Results. The teachers’ mean scores with SD on knowledge, attitude, and performance were 7.61 ± 2.74 , 8.81 ± 2.08 , and 0.38 ± 0.11 , respectively. The linear regression analysis showed that the knowledge ( p < 0.001 ) and attitude ( p < 0.05 ) of the participants were positively associated with organ donation performance. A significant relationship was also observed between gender ( p < 0.036 ), age ( p < 0.01 ), and education status ( p < 0.001 ) with the performance of the teachers. Lack of family support was the most spelt reason for unwillingness for organ donation. Conclusion. The positive linear correlations underline that having more information may lead to a more optimistic mindset and, as a result, to better practices. Teachers should be provided with overall health teaching campaigns to increase the number of possible organ donors. Teachers serve as role models for students, families, and society by changing their attitudes.

Several medicinal plants have the potential to be a promising alternative pharmacological therapy for a variety of human illnesses. Many insects, including mosquitoes, are important vectors of deadly pathogens and parasites, which in the world's growing human and animal populations can cause serious epidemics and pandemics. Medicinal plants continue to provide a large library of phytochemicals, which can be used to replace chemically synthesized insecticides, and utilization of herbal product-based insecticides is one of the best and safest alternatives for mosquito control. Identifying new effective phyto-derived insecticides is important to counter increasing insect resistance to synthetic compounds and provide a safer environment.

Diabetes mellitus is a major public health issue that considerably impacts mortality, morbidity, and healthcare costs worldwide. The COVID-19 pandemic has created havoc in diabetes management, too, like other spectrums of life. A descriptive, cross-sectional study was adopted to determine the effect of Social Support, Self-Care Behaviour and Self-Efficacy in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2D) during this COVID-19 pandemic. Two hundred T2D patients who satisfied the inclusion criteria were chosen using a convenient sampling procedure. The tool consists of four sections, including socio-demographic characteristics, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), revised Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities (SDSCA) Scale and modified Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale (DMS). Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the obtained data. The mean and SD of diabetic management self-efficacy is 5.74 (1.95) and 4.37 (1.4), respectively, for patients with HbA1c < 6.5% and HbA1c ≥ 6.5%. The self-care activities of the patients who had good glycemic control were 4.31 (2.06) compared to 3.50 (1.73) who did not. The social support received by the patients was 6.13 (2.13) vs. 5.31 (1.67) among patients with glycemic control vs. no control. The results show that social support (p = 0.04), self-efficacy (p =0.01) and self-care activities (p = 0.001) were significantly related to the level of glycemic control of the T2D patients. A significant relationship was also identified between gender (p = 0.036), age (p = 0.001) and education status (p = 0.000) with HbA1c control of the participants. This study demonstrates a significant relationship between social support, self-care behaviours, self-efficacy and glycemic management in T2D patients. During this COVID-19 pandemic, interventions to enhance the self-care activities like exercise and social support to boost their self-efficacy; for better diabetes management, reducing diabetes complications or prolonging their onset are the need of the hour.

Maternal and child nutrition has been a critical component of health, sustainable development, and progress in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). While a decrement in maternal mortality is an important indicator, simply surviving pregnancy and childbirth does not imply better maternal health. One of the fundamental obligations of nations under international human rights law is to enable mothers and teenage girls to endure pregnancy and delivery as an aspect of their enjoyment of reproductive and sexual health and rights and live a dignified life. The aim of this study was to discover the correlation between the Maternal Observation and Motivation (MOM) program and m-Health support for maternal and newborn health. A Comparative study was done among 109 pregnant mothers (study group-94; control group-102 mothers) with not less than 20 weeks of gestation. Maternal outcomes such as Hb, weight gain and newborn results like birth weight and crown- heel length was obtained on the baseline, 28 and 36 weeks of gestation. Other secondary data collected were abortion, stillbirth, low birth weight, major congenital malformations, twin or triplet pregnancies, physical activity and maternal wellbeing. Introduction: Wound healing is a multifaceted biological process, and diabetic wounds add more complexity to it. In diabetic wounds, the combination of chloroform fractions of Achyranthes aspera L. (A.aspera) leaves with β-Glucans has not been investigated. The additive effect of these two (A.aspera + β-Glucans) would benefit the inflammatory phase of diabetic wounds, as improper treatment will lead to chronic injuries. Therefore, the goal of this research work was to assess the in-vivo wound healing and anti-inflammatory effects of a combination of chloroform fractions of A.aspera leaves and β-Glucans in a variety of wound models in STZ-induced diabetic rats. Methods: Preliminary phytochemical analyses of A.aspera were conducted to identify various phytoconstituents in the test extract. Acute and sub-acute dermal toxicity tests of A.aspera were carried out on mice and rats, respectively, to see whether there were any abnormalities. Excision and incision wound models, cotton pellet-induced granuloma models, rat paw edema and burn wounds were used to test wound healing and anti-inflammatory actions. To induce diabetes, streptozotocin (STZ) was administered intraperitoneally at a dosage of 65 mg/kg (i.p.). A.aspera (10% w/w) and β-Glucans (2% w/w) ointments were tested separately and in combination for wound healing activities. Silver sulfadiazine (1 % w/w) ointment was used to treat the positive control groups. Excision wound model rats that had been treated with basic ointment were used as negative controls, as were incision wound model rats that had not been treated. A.aspera (400 mg/kg, po) and β-Glucans (30 mg/kg, po) were tested separately and in combination for anti-inflammatory efficacy. There are evidences of shared biological mechanisms between obesity and hypertension during childhood in the adulthood, and loads of research literatures have proven that, it will cost the economies and health of nations profoundly if neglected. The Prevention and early diagnosis of cardiovascular risk factors such as overweight and hypertension is an essential strategy for control, effective treatment and prevention of its’ complications. The aim of the study is to assess the effect of school based Exercise and Life style Motivation Intervention (SEAL-MI) on adolescent's cardiovascular risk factors and academic performance. An experimental study was conducted among 1005 adolescents - 520 and 485 adolescents were randomly selected for control and study group, respectively. Demographic details and the data related to dietary habits, physical activity and sleep quality were collected by a structured interview questionnaire. The study group adolescents were given the SEAL-MI for six months which includes a school based rope exercise for 45 minutes per day for 5 days a week and a motivation intervention related to dietary habits, physical activity and sleep. Post-test 1 and 2 were done after 3 and 6 months of intervention. The prevalence of overweight among adolescents was 28.73% and prehypertension was 9.26%. Among overweight adolescents, the prevalence of prehypertension was found to be very high (32.25%). In post intervention, there was a significant reduction in weight, BP (p=0.000) and improvement in dietary habits, physical activity, sleep (p=0.000) and academic performance. A significant positive correlation was found between BMI and SBP (p=0.000) and BMI and academic performance (p=0.003). The linear regression analyses revealed that the gender (ß: 0.47, 95% CI: 0.39, 0.81), age (ß: 0.39, 95% CI: 0.17, 0.46), family income (ß: 0.2, 95% CI: 0.41, 0.5), residence (ß: 0.19, 95% CI: 0.01, 0.27) and type of family (ß: 0.25, 95% CI: 0.39, 0.02) had the strongest correlate with the BMI of the adolescents. Regular practice of rope exercise and lifestyle modification such as diet, physical activity and sleep quality among adolescents prevent and control childhood CVD risk factors like overweight, hypertension. The SEAL-MI may lead to age appropriate development of adolescents and improves their academic performance and quality of life. Giving importance to the adolescents from urban habitat, from affluent nuclear family and catching them young will bring significant change in the disease burden.

Dipsogenic diabetes insipidus (DDI) is a subtype of primary polydipsia (PP), which occurs mostly in healthy people without psychiatric disease. In contrast, PP is characterized by a polyuria polydipsia syndrome (PPS) associated with psychiatric illness. However, the pathogenesis of DDI is not well established and remains unexplored. In order to diagnose DDI, the patient should exhibit excessive thirst as the main symptom, in addition to no history of psychiatric illness, polyuria with low urine osmolality, and intact urine concentrating ability. Treatment options for DDI remain scarce. On this front, there have been two published case reports with successful attempts at treating DDI patients. The noteworthy commonalities in these reports are that the patient was diagnosed with frequent excessive intake of water due to a belief that drinking excess water would have pathologic benefits. It could therefore be hypothesized that the increasing trend of excessive fluid intake in people who are health conscious could also contribute to DDI. Hence, this review provides an overview of the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment, with a special emphasis on habitual polydipsia and DDI.

Maternal and child nutrition has been a critical component of health, sustainable development, and progress in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). While a decrement in maternal mortality is an important indicator, simply surviving pregnancy and childbirth does not imply better maternal health. One of the fundamental obligations of nations under international human rights law is to enable women to endure pregnancy and delivery as an aspect of their enjoyment of reproductive and sexual health and rights and to live a dignified life. The aim of this study was to discover the correlation between the Maternal Observation and Motivation (MOM) program and m-Health support for maternal and newborn health. A comparative study was done among 196 pregnant mothers (study group—94; control group—102 mothers) with not less than 20 weeks of gestation. Maternal outcomes such as Hb and weight gain and newborn results such as birth weight and crown–heel length were obtained at baseline and at 28 and 36 weeks of gestation. Other secondary data collected were abortion, stillbirth, low birth weight, major congenital malformations, twin or triplet pregnancies, physical activity, and maternal well-being. The weight gain (p < 0.001), level of physical activity (p < 0.001), and maternal well-being (p < 0.01) also had significant differences after the intervention. Even after controlling for potentially confounding variables, the maternal food practices regression model revealed that birth weight was directly correlated with the consumption of milk (p < 0.001), fruits (p < 0.01), and green vegetables (p < 0.05). As per the physical activity and maternal well-being regression model, the birth weight and crown–heel length were strongly related with the physical activity and maternal well-being of mothers at 36 weeks of gestation (p < 0.05). Combining the MOM intervention with standard antenatal care is a safe and effective way to improve maternal welfare while upholding pregnant mothers’ human rights.
