We prove optimal regularity estimates for viscosity solutions to a class of fully nonlinear nonlocal equations with unbounded source terms. More precisely, depending on the integrability of the source term $f \in L^p(B_1)$, we establish that solutions belong to classes ranging from $C^{\sigma-d/p}$ to $C^\sigma$, at critical thresholds. We use approximation techniques and Liouville-type arguments. These results represent a novel contribution, providing the first such estimates in the context of not necessarily concave nonlocal equations.

The quality evaluation of three deep learning-based coding solutions for point cloud geometry, notably ADLPCC, PCC GEO CNNv2, and PCGCv2, is presented. The MPEG G-PCC was used as an anchor. Furthermore, LUT SR, which uses multi-resolution Look-Up tables, was also considered. A set of six point clouds representing landscapes and objects were used. As point cloud texture has a great influence on the perceived quality, two different subjective studies that differ in the texture addition model are reported and statistically compared. In the first experiment, the dataset was first encoded with the identified codecs. Then, the texture of the original point cloud was mapped to the decoded point cloud using the Meshlab software, resulting in a point cloud with both geometry and texture information. Finally, the resulting point cloud was encoded with G-PCC using the lossless-geometry-lossy-atts mode, while in the second experiment the texture was mapped directly onto the distorted geometry. Moreover, both subjective evaluations were used to benchmark a set of objective point cloud quality metrics. The two experiments were shown to be statistically different, and the tested metrics revealed quite different behaviors for the two sets of data. The results reveal that the preferred method of evaluation is the encoding of texture information with G-PCC after mapping the texture of the original point cloud to the distorted point cloud. The results suggest that current objective metrics are not suitable to evaluate distortions created by machine learning-based codecs.

This paper reports on a subjective quality evaluation of static point clouds encoded with the MPEG codecs V-PCC and G-PCC, the deep learning-based codec RS-DLPCC, and the popular Draco codec. 18 subjects visualized 3D representations of distorted point clouds using a Head Mounted Display, which allowed for a direct comparison with their reference. The Mean Opinion Scores (MOS) obtained in this subjective evaluation were compared with the MOS from two previous studies, where the same content was visualized either on a 2D display or a 3D stereoscopic display, through the Pearson Correlation, Spearman Rank Order Correlation, Root Mean Square Error, and the Outlier Ratio. The results indicate that the three studies are highly correlated with one another. Moreover, a statistical analysis between all evaluations showed no significant differences between them.

It is usually expected and observed that non-integrable isolated quantum systems thermalize. However, for some non-integrable spin chain models, in a numerical study, initial states with oscillations that persisted for some time were found and the phenomenon was named weak thermalization. Later, it was argued that such oscillations will eventually decay suggesting that weak thermalization was about time scales and not the size of the fluctuations. Nevertheless, the analyses of the size of the fluctuations were more qualitative. Here, using exact diagonalization we analyze how the size of the typical fluctuation, after long enough time for equilibration to happen, scales with the system size. For that, we use rigorous mathematical upper bounds on the equilibration of isolated quantum systems. We show that weak thermalization can be understood to be due to the small effective dimension of the initial state. Furthermore, we show that the fluctuations decay exponentially with the system size for both weak and strong thermalization indicating no sharp transitions between these two regimes.

In this work, we present a systematic approach to investigate the existence, multiplicity, and local gradient regularity of solutions for nonlocal quasilinear equations with local gradient degeneracy. Our method involves an interactive geometric argument that interplays with uniqueness property for the corresponding homogeneous problem, leading with gradient H\"older regularity estimates. This approach is intrinsically developed for nonlocal scenarios, where uniqueness holds for the local homogeneous problem. We illustrate our results by showing classes of exterior data that exhibit multiple solutions, while also highlighting relevant cases where uniqueness is confirmed.

Many theoretical and experimental results show that even isolated quantum systems evolving unitarily may equilibrate, since the evolution of some observables may be around an equilibrium value with negligible fluctuations most of the time. There are rigorous theorems giving the conditions for such equilibration to happen. In particular, initial states prepared with a lack of resolution in the energy will equilibrate. We investigate how equilibration may be affected by a lack of resolution, or coarse-graining, in the magnetization of the initial state. In particular, for a chaotic spin chain and using exact diagonalization, we show that the level of equilibration of an initial state with a coarse, not well-defined magnetization is different from the level of an initial state with well-defined magnetization. This difference will depend on the degree of coarse-graining and the direction of magnetization. We also analyze the time for the system to reach equilibrium, showing good agreement with theoretical estimates and with some evidence that less resolution leads to faster equilibration. Our study highlights the crucial role of initial state preparation in the equilibration dynamics of quantum systems and provides new insights into the fundamental nature of equilibration in closed systems.

In this article we study the fundamental solutions or "$\alpha$-harmonic functions" for some nonlinear positive homogeneous nonlocal elliptic problems in conical domains, such as \begin{eqnarray*}\label{ecbir1a1} {\mathcal F }(u)=0\ \ \hbox{in} \ \ \mathcal{C}_\omega,\quad u=0\ \ \hbox{in} \ \ \mathbb{R}^n\setminus \mathcal{C}_\omega ,\ \ \end{eqnarray*} where $\omega$ is a proper $C^2$ domain in $S^{N-1}$ for $ N\geq 2$, $\mathcal{C}_\omega:=\{x\,:\,x\neq 0, {|x|^{-1}}x\in \omega\}$ is the cone-like domain related to $\omega$, and ${\mathcal F }$ is an extremal fully nonlinear integral operator. We prove the existence of two fundamental solutions that are homogeneous and do not change signs in the cone; one is bounded at the origin and the other at infinity. As an application, we use the fundamental solutions obtained to prove Liouville type theorems in cones for supersolutions of the Lane-Emden-Fowler equation in the form \begin{eqnarray*}\label{eq 0.2} {\mathcal F }(u)+u^p = 0\ \ \hbox{in} \ \ \mathcal{C}_\omega, \quad u=0\ \ \hbox{in} \ \ \mathbb{R}^n\setminus \mathcal{C}_\omega.\ \ \end{eqnarray*} We also prove a generalized Hopf type lemma in domains with corners. Most of our results are new even when ${\mathcal F }$ is the fractional Laplacian operator.

We investigate the regularity of the solutions for a class of degenerate/singular fully nonlinear nonlocal equations. In the degenerate scenario, we establish that there exists at least one viscosity solution of class $C_{loc}^{1, \alpha}$, for some constant $\alpha \in (0, 1)$. In addition, under suitable conditions on $\sigma$, we prove regularity estimates in H\"older spaces for any viscosity solution. We also examine the singular setting and prove H\"older regularity estimates for the gradient of the solutions.

We derive Cordes-Nirenberg type results for nonlocal elliptic integro-differential equations with deforming kernels comparable to sections of a convex solution of a Monge-Amp\`ere equation. Under a natural integrability assumption on the Monge-Amp\`ere solution, we prove a stability lemma allowing the ellipticity class to vary. Using a compactness method, we then derive H\"older regularity estimates for the gradient of the solutions.

We discuss a sufficient condition for gapless excitations in the Lindbladian master equation for collective spin-boson systems and permutationally invariant systems. The condition relates a nonzero macroscopic cumulant correlation in the steady state to the presence of gapless modes in the Lindbladian. In phases arising from competing coherent and dissipative Lindbladian terms, we argue that such gapless modes, concomitant with angular momentum conservation, can lead to persistent dynamics in the spin observables with the possible formation of dissipative time-crystals. We study different models within this perspective, from Lindbladians with Hermitian jump operators, to non-Hermitian ones composed by collective spins and Floquet spin-boson systems. In this work we study genuine multipartite correlations (GMC's) in a boundary time crystal (BTC). Boundary time crystals are nonequilibrium quantum phases of matter in contact to an environment, for which a macroscopic fraction of the many-body system breaks the time-translation symmetry. We analyze both (i) the structure (orders) of GMC's among the subsystems, as well as (ii) their build-up dynamics for an initially uncorrelated state. We find that, in the thermodynamic limit (and only in such a limit), multipartite correlations of all orders grow indefinitely in time in the BTC phase, further displaying a persistent oscillatory behavior around their mean growth. The orders of the correlations show a power-law decaying hierarchy among its $k$-partitions. Moreover, in the long-time limit the GMC's are shown extensive with the system size, contrasting to the subextensive scaling in the non time-crystal (ferromagnetic) phase of the model. We also discuss the classical and quantum nature of these correlations with basis on multipartite entanglement witnesses, specifically, the analysis of the Quantum Fisher Information (QFI). Both GMC and QFI are able to capture and distinguish the different phases of the model. Boundary time crystals (BTC's) are non-equilibrium phases of matter occurring in quantum systems in contact to an environment, for which a macroscopic fraction of the many body system breaks time translation symmetry. We study BTC's in collective $d$-level systems, focusing in the cases with $d=2$, $3$ and $4$. We find that BTC's appear in different forms for the different cases. We first consider the model with collective $d=2$-level systems [presented in Phys. Rev. Lett. $121$, $035301$ ($2018$)], whose dynamics is described by a Lindblad master equation, and perform a throughout analysis of its phase diagram and Jacobian stability for different interacting terms in the coherent Hamiltonian. In particular, using perturbation theory for general (non Hermitian) matrices we obtain analytically how a specific $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry breaking Hamiltonian term destroys the BTC phase in the model. Based on these results we define a $d=4$ model composed of a pair of collective $2$-level systems interacting with each other. We show that this model support richer dynamical phases, ranging from limit-cycles, period-doubling bifurcations and a route to chaotic dynamics. The BTC phase is more robust in this case, not annihilated by the former symmetry breaking Hamiltonian terms. The model with collective $d=3$-level systems is defined similarly, as competing pairs of levels, but sharing a common collective level. The dynamics can deviate significantly from the previous cases, supporting phases with the coexistence of multiple limit-cycles, closed orbits and a full degeneracy of zero Lyapunov exponents., Comment: 18 pages, 12 figures

We establish the density of the partial regularity result in the class of continuous viscosity solutions. Given a fully nonlinear equation, we prove the existence of a sequence entitled to the partial regularity result, approximating its solutions. Distinct conditions on the operator driving the equation lead to density in different topologies. Our findings include applications to inhomogeneous problems, with variable-coefficients models.

We discuss the use of a region of uniform and constant magnetic field in order to implement a two-state atomic polarizer for an H(2S) beam. We have observed that a device with such field configuration is capable of achieving an efficient polarization for a wide range of magnetic field intensities and atomic velocities. In addition, we establish a criterion that must be met to confirm a successful polarization. That is possible due to a specific beating pattern for the Lyman-$\alpha$ radiation expected for the outgoing two-state atomic beam., Comment: Submitted. 10 pages, 8 figures

In this paper we obtain interior regularity estimates for viscosity solutions of nonlocal Dirichlet problems that degenerate when the gradient of the solution vanishes. Interior H\"older estimates are obtained when the order of the fractional diffusion is less or equal than one, and Lipschitz estimates when it is bigger than one. In the latter case, the estimates are robust enough to conclude interior $C^{1, \alpha}$ regularity by an improvement of the flatness procedure, which is possible when the nonlocal term is close enough to a second-order diffusion.
