Introduction Between 2010 - 2013 there were 255 478 patients with brain stroke in the Czech Republic (app. 2% from the Czech population). According to the WHO, in 2012 (the latest data) 6,7 million people all over the world died from stroke in 2012 (which represent 11,9 % of all deaths) - it can be called a silent [1]. This study is aimed at Coordinated Rehabilitation for people after brain stroke and it is supported by the Grant Agency of the University of South Bohemia (reg. No. 138/20146/S) with topic "Coordinated rehabilitation of patients after brain". This project started in 2016, has to be finished in 2018 (Assoc. prof. Jitka Vackova is the main proposer). Methods The data collection is made by qualitative research strategy, with the help of repeated indepth interviews in social sphere (with clients, their family members, representatives of organizations involved in coordinated rehabilitation), as well es by quantitative research strategy-WHODAS II (WHO Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0) questionnaire. In the area of ergotherapy, the functional independence is measured with the help of FIM („Functional Independence Measure") and in the area of physiotherapy, Berg Balance Scale and Time Up and Go Test is used. On average, one client who undergoes coordinated rehabilitation implemented by a team gets about 44 physiotherapist's visit (2 regular visits per week in the first three months, a control visit in months 6 and 9), 6 social worker's visits (total 4 visits in the first three months, a control visit in months 6 and 9) and 6 ergotherapist's visits (total 4 visits in the first three months, a control visit in months 6 and 9). The data from the social area were processed in ATLAS.ti. Target group Total amount of respondents after brain stroke is 20 (until the end of 2017). These 20 clients were included to the project as the receivers of coordinated rehabilitation and services offered by physiotherapists, ergotherapists and social workers (in some cases were included also speech therapist and psychologist). Project plan is to collect via qualitative research strategy data from 30 respondents. First results and conclusion The first results were processed in the area of needs of clients after brain stroke. The analysis made in ATLAS.ti program showed 7 categories of needs including: need of help (including help of the family as well as professional help and help in the area of economic security), need of mental wellbeing, need of self-sufficiency, need to be healthy (in general - a strong motive of all patients), need to be without pain, need to return to the condition before brain stroke, need to find a new system of activities. The two latter needs, i.e. the need to return to the condition before brain stroke and the need to find a new system of activities, can be considered key strategies of coping with the consequences of brain stroke.
