31. Advanced aerodynamic prediction software for versatile canard-controlled missile configurations.

Abstract

The present research is aimed at the development of advanced aerodynamic prediction software for canard-controlled missile to handle versatile configurations. The prediction code has been developed for aerodynamic prediction for missile configurations based on analytical techniques and empirical relations. An equivalent angle of attack methodology has been used for the estimation of nonlinear behavior in aerodynamics. The code has the capability to handle arbitrary roll orientation including the interdigitated tail, dual control, and angle of attack up to 90°. Four papers were identified as references for validating the prediction method after a thorough review of the literature. The geometrical parameters of the missile from the reference paper are extracted and given as input to the prediction code to find the aerodynamic characteristics. The obtained data from the prediction code are compared with the experimental data from the reference paper. For all the cases, the basic characteristics have excellent validation. In most cases, the prediction deviation is within 1.0d on the longitudinal stability and within 15% of the normal force coefficient. There is a 20% difference in the tail control characteristics. Abstract

Physics based analytic equations for charge carrier profile and current density are derived by solving the carrier transport and the continuity equations for metal-intrinsic semiconductor-metal diodes. Using the analytic models a physics based method is developed to extract the built-in potential $V_{bi}$ from current density-voltage ($J$-$V$) characteristics. The proposed method is thoroughly validated using numerical simulation results. After verifying the applicability of the proposed theory on experimentally fabricated organic diodes, $V_{bi}$ is extracted using the present method showing a good agreement with the reported value. more...

Abstract

Tamarind (Tamarindus indica L.) is one of the most important multipurpose tree species. It is considered one of the minor tree spice crops in India. In these views, ten Tamarind genotypes were evaluated at Horticulture Research and Extension centre in Arsikere, India. Among ten tamarind genotypes with respect to yield, quality parameters were studied. The analysis of variance of 5 year mean data indicated that there was a significant difference observed in vegetative and yield characters. Among the genotypes studied, the highest pod yield per plant was recorded in genotype-10 (110 kg/tree) followed by genotype-151 (105 kg/tree) compared to other genotypes. The lowest pod yield was recorded ingenotype-28 (70kg/tree). The maximum pulp yield was recorded in genotype-10 (50.95 kg/tree) followed by genotype-51 (36.24 kg/tree) genotype-14(33.98 kg/tree). The TSS was highest in genotype-10(180B) followed by genotype-51(17.50B) compared to other genotypes. Abstract

The present investigation was conducted to assess association between grain yield and yield component traits in F2 population of 236 lines of cross involving DRR Dhan 60 × Pusa 44 (NIL) to establish a selection criterion for developing superior genotypes. Correlation studiesrevealed positive and significant association of grain yield with the yield component traits, namely, number of tillers per plant, number of productive tillers per plant and thousand grain weight indicating scope for their simultaneous improvement with grain yield per plant. While DFF shows negative and significant correlation with yield. High direct effects (0.30-0.99) were noticed for number of productive tillers per plant, spikelets per panicle and spikelet sterility on grain yield per plant. These traits had also recorded positive and significant association with grain yield per plant, indicating the effectiveness of direct phenotypic selection for the trait in improvement of grain yield per plant.
