The World Health Organization has declared “with great hope” an end to COVID-19 as a public health emergency. The vaccination drive that started in December 2020 played a crucial role in controlling the pandemic. However, the pace at which COVID-19 vaccines were developed and deployed for general population use led to vaccine hesitancy, largely owing to concerns regarding the safety and efficacy of the vaccines. Radiology has been instrumental in demonstrating the extent of pulmonary involvement and identification of the complications of COVID-19, and the same holds true for vaccine-related complications. This review summarizes the existing body of radiological literature regarding the efficacy, adverse events, and imaging pitfalls that accompany the global rollout of various COVID-19 vaccines.

Subclavian artery pseudoaneurysm is an uncommon entity caused by trauma or iatrogenic arterial injury. Endovascular management is the preferred treatment strategy but can be complicated by endoleaks. We report a case of type I endoleak occurring after endovascular covered stent placement to treat a traumatic pseudoaneurysm of proximal left subclavian artery.

Skeletal radiographs along with dental examination are frequently used for age estimation in medicolegal cases where documentary evidence pertaining to age is not available. Wrist and hand radiographs are the most common skeletal radiograph considered for age estimation. Other parts imaged are elbow, shoulder, knee, and hip according to suspected age categories. Age estimation by wrist radiographs is usually done by the Tanner-Whitehouse method where the maturity level of each bone is categorized into stages and a final total score is calculated that is then transformed into the bone age. Careful assessment and interpretation at multiple joints are needed to minimize the error and categorize into age-group. In this article, we aimed to summarize a suitable radiographic examination and interpretation for bone age estimation in living children, adolescents, young adults, and adults for medicolegal purposes.

The confinement of electrons in gold nanoparticles results in Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), which is characterized by electric field enhancement in the vicinity of these nanoparticles. This property has been extensively studied and applied in various fields. In our research, we conduct a detailed investigation of plasmonic coupling in spherical gold nanoparticles. Specifically, we use the Discrete Dipole Approximation (DDA) method implemented in DDSCAT to simulate the coupling of electric fields in a doublet of nanoparticles as a function of the distance between them. Our simulations show that the coupling of SPR between two nanoparticles occurs up to a separation of 12 nm. Moreover, we extend our simulations to study the coupling of nanoparticles in linear chains consisting of up to five nanoparticles and in clustered forms. Our results indicate that the SPR coupling in a linear chain occurs, and as the number of nanoparticles increases, the field enhancement also increases. However, we observe that this effect saturates after four nanoparticles in a line. Our study provides insights into the plasmonic coupling in gold nanoparticles, which can aid in the design and optimization of plasmonic devices for various applications.

The importance of identifying plant diseases has risen recently due to the adverse effect they have on agricultutal production. Plant diseases have been a big concern in agriculture, as they affect crop production, and constitute a major threat to global food security. In the domain of modern agriculture, effective plant disease management is vital to ensure healthy crop yields and sustainable practices. Traditional means of identifying plant disease are faced with lots of challenges and the need for better and efficient detection methods cannot be overemphazised. The emergence of advanced technologies, particularly deep learning and content-based filtering techniques, if integrated together can changed the way plant diseases are identified and treated. Such as speedy and correct identification of plant diseases and efficient treatment recommendations which are keys for sustainable food production. In this work, We try to investigate the current state of research, identified gaps and limitations in knowledge, and suggests future directions for researchers, experts and farmers that could help to provide better ways of mitigating plant disease problems.

Evapotranspiration is an essential component of the hydrological cycle that is of particular interest for water resource planning. Its quantification is helpful in irrigation scheduling, water balance studies, water allocation, etc. Modelling of reference evapotranspiration (ET0) using both gene expression programming (GEP) and artificial neural network (ANN) techniques was done using the daily meteorological data of the Pantnagar region, India, from 2010 to 2019. A total of 15 combinations of inputs were used in developing the ET0 models. The model with the least number of inputs consisted of maximum and minimum air temperatures, whereas the model with the highest number of inputs consisted of maximum air temperature, minimum air temperature, mean relative humidity, number of sunshine hours, wind speed at 2 m height and extra-terrestrial radiation as inputs and with ET0 as the output for all the models. All the GEP models were developed for a single functional set and pre-defined genetic operator values, while the best structure in each ANN model was found based on the performance during the testing phase. It was found that ANN models were superior to GEP models for the estimation purpose. It was evident from the reduction in RMSE values ranging from 2 % to 56 % during training and testing phases in all the ANN models compared with GEP models. The ANN models showed an increase of about 0.96 % to 9.72 % of R2 value compared to the respective GEP models. The comparative study of these models with multiple linear regression (MLR) depicted that the ANN and GEP models were superior to MLR models.

Purpose The aim of this study was to evaluate the technical feasibility, complication rate, and efficacy of percutaneously delivered plastic biliary stent, compared with that of internal–external biliary drainage catheter.

Abstract Background Atypical MRI findings of cranial tuberculosis can lead to prolonged delay in diagnosis resulting in high costs to evaluate for alternative diagnoses. The aim of this study was to describe a series of cranial tuberculosis patients with spectrum of MRI features, other than hydrocephalus, parenchymal tuberculomas, and leptomeningeal thickening. The final diagnosis was made based on CSF findings, clinical findings, and/or marked improvement after antitubercular treatment. Results A total of 39 patients met the inclusion criteria and were diagnosed with vasculitis (n = 15), tubercular abscess (n = 5), miliary tuberculosis (n = 3), tubercular cerebritis (n = 9), sellar and parasellar tuberculosis (n = 7), mass forming tuberculosis (n = 1), choroid plexitis (n = 2), and intraventricular tuberculomas (n = 1). Conclusion A significant number of patients of cranial tuberculosis can have variable presentations and may be misdiagnosed. This analysis helps to reinvestigate the spectrum of MRI findings.

Pseudoaneurysm developing from the internal maxillary artery is a rare but potentially fatal condition. We describe a case of iatrogenic pseudoaneurysm of the internal maxillary artery developed during dental extraction and successful endovascular closure of the feeder artery. At 2-month follow-up, the patient remained well with persistent thrombosis of pseudoaneurysm.

The major population of the world is dependent on rice for food. Global warming creates drought conditions mostly in north eastern countries. It is a very challenging task to cultivate drought-sensitive variety in drought-prone areas. To overcome this problem we induced changes in the drought-sensitive variety of rice (Swarna MTU 7029) for drought tolerance. Drought condition was exposed for 7 days and 14 days to SA treated and untreated 56 days old rice plants. Rice seeds were presoaked with 0.5mM SA. The experiment was designed in four groups control (untreated), drought -SA, drought +SA, and SA control. On the 7th and 14th of drought stress, SA improved drought tolerance indicator proline, carotenoid, and total soluble sugar. Starch and protein content were augmented in salicylic acid-treated plants compared to untreated rice plants under drought stress. Antioxidants such as SOD, CAT, and APX levels drastically increased in salicylic acid-treated plants during both 7th and 14th days of drought stress. Therefore, salicylic acid improved antioxidative enzymes content in MTU 7029 rice variety after 7 and 14 days of drought stress.

Aim The aim of this article was to evaluate uterocervical angle (UCA) and cervical length (CL) measured at 16 to 24 weeks of gestation using transvaginal sonography (TVS) as predictors of spontaneous preterm birth. Methods In this prospective study, TVS was performed in 159 primigravidas with a singleton, uncomplicated pregnancy at 16 to 24 weeks of gestation to measure the anterior UCA and CL. All the cases were followed until labor to document gestational age at delivery. Results The risk of spontaneous preterm birth was higher in women with obtuse UCA (>95 degrees) with sensitivity of 86.7%, specificity of 93.0%, positive predictive value of 83.0%, negative predictive value of 94.6%, and p-value of

Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is a fruit tree that is globally distributed, especially in warm areas with low annual rainfall and limited water availability. This species exemplifies the critical role of water in agriculture and the need for efficient irrigation practices due to its characteristics, cultivation requirements, and geographic diffusion. In this study, we investigated the effects of drip irrigation and mulching on the vegetative growth, yield, and fruit quality attributes of pomegranate. The experiment involved three irrigation regimes (100% of evapotranspiration, 80%, and 60%) and three mulching treatments (no mulch, plastic mulch, and organic mulch) in a factorial combination. Both irrigation and mulching had significant positive influences on the yield and fruit quality attributes. Specifically, deficit irrigation strategies showed a negative impact on the fruit yield per tree, with a greater effect observed as the severity of the irrigation deficit increased. Mulching, on the other hand, led to a significant increase in the fruit yield, primarily attributed to an increase in fruit size. Furthermore, the analysis indicated that irrigation and mulching treatments had distinct effects on fruit traits such as the fruit length, width, volume, and rind thickness. Interestingly, the study highlighted that the effects of irrigation and mulching on fruit quality attributes were mostly independent of each other, suggesting an additive influence rather than an interaction between the two factors. These findings underscore the importance of considering irrigation and mulching practices for optimizing fruit quality in pomegranate cultivation, particularly in semi-arid regions. The results contribute valuable insights for farmers and researchers seeking to enhance fruit production and quality.

Objectives: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease of unknown etiology, mainly affecting female of child-bearing age group. Clinical scenario of SLE is not well defined in east region of India, especially in tribal region of Jharkhand. This article is mainly focused on clinical and laboratory characteristics of SLE in tribal region of Jharkhand. Materials and Methods: This was an analytical cross-sectional single-centered study conducted at RIMS, Ranchi, a tertiary care center of Jharkhand, between November 2020 and October 2021. A total 50 patients were diagnosed as SLE based on Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics criteria. Results: Forty-five (90%) of patients in our study were female, with female to male ratio of 9:1. The mean age of presentation was 26.78 ± 8.12. Constitutional symptoms were found in 96% of patients, followed by anemia in 90% of patients. Renal involvement was found in 74% of patients, followed by polyarthritis (72%), malar rash (60%), and neurological manifestations (40%). Anti-nuclear antibody, anti-dsDNA, and anti-Smith antibodies were found positive in 100%, 84%, and 80% of patients, respectively. Conclusions: Clinical characteristics of SLE as per our study would help the health care professionals in this region to identify the disease at early stage and initiate appropriate treatment.

Introduction: Malignant Biliary Obstruction (MBO) is caused by hepatic metastasis, gall bladder carcinoma, other distant metastasis, icteric hepatocellular carcinoma and lymphoma. Different signs and symptoms of obstruction includes pruritus, jaundice, altered food taste, renal dysfunction, anorexia, malnutrition which ultimately leads to impaired immune dysfunction and impaired quality of life. Aim: To determine the extent of biliary ductal involvement in patients with MBO through Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) and Percutaneous Transhepatic Cholangiography (PTC) technique and to compare the number of biliary drainage required. Materials and Methods: A prospective cohort study was undertaken at Department of Radiodiagnosis, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, India. It included total 40 patients (24 females and 16 males) with strong clinicopathological and laboratory investigation suspicious of MBO. Patients with suspected MBO were examined with MR cholangiography. All patients then underwent PTC and Biliary Drainage (PTBD) and/or stent placement after MR cholangiography. The statistical analysis was done using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21.0. Results: As out of 40 patients, 16 (40%) were males and 24 (60%) were females and the mean age was 53.87±9.49 years with maximum age noted to be 75 years and minimum age of patient in study was 35 years. The most common block observed on MRCP was type IIIA (35%) and after MRCP the distribution of level of hilar block on PTC was obtained with the most common block found was of type II (32.5%). Maximum number of biliary drains during PTBD was three. In MRCP three biliary drain were used in 47.5% patients while in PTC it was used only in 40% patients. Conclusion: Based on diagnostic performance, PTC was found to be superior for the assessment of MBO. PTC played an important role in scheduling the therapeutic strategy for malignant biliary stricture.

Protected cultivation is a resource-efficient method of crop production, however, at the same time, it is resource intensive. An optimum rate and time of fertilizer application is required in order to maximize crop yield vis-à-vis resource use efficiency. However, these aspects are scarcely studied for tomato under low- and medium-tech greenhouses in Indian humid sub-tropics. In this regard, a two-year study was conducted to assess the effect of four NPK fertilization rates (i.e., 120, 100, 80, and 60% of the recommended dose of fertilizers, RDF) and three fertigation scheduling approaches—fertigation at different stages in different proportions of NPK, along with an additional treatment, i.e., farmers’ practice (soil-based application of recommended NPK) for tomatoes under a naturally ventilated polyhouse. The plant growth attributes, the tomato yield- and quality-related traits, the nutrient (NPK) accumulation by the plants, the water use efficiency (WUE), and economics were studied in response to different fertigation rates and scheduling approaches. These parameters were affected by both the rates of NPK fertilization and their time of application (scheduling) over the different growth stages. Among the different rates and time of fertigation, the recommended dose of fertilizer (100% RDF) (i.e., 300 kg N, 150 kg P2O5, and 150 kg K2O per ha and their scheduling as 15% N, 10% P2O5, and 10% K2O of RDF during 15–45 days after transplanting (P1); 40% N, 40% P2O5, and 40% K2O of RDF during 47–76 DAT (P2); 30% N, 40% P2O5, and 40% K2O of RDF during 77–107 DAT (P3); and 15% N, 10% P2O5, and 10% K2O of RDF during 108–138 DAT (P4)) was found to be the optimum for fruit yield, WUE, and economics of tomato under protected condition.

Introduction: Mental disorders contribute to a significant load of morbidity and disability. In neurological disorders, alternative medicine use is common due to their fewer side-effects. There are scant evidences regarding the role of Convolvulus pluricaulis (C. pluricaulis) and Omega (ω)-3 fatty acids in learning and memory, and none for their combined effect. Aim: To evaluate the effect of C. pluricaulis alone and in combination with Omega-3 fatty acids. Materials and Methods: The present study was an animal study done on Wistar rats. C. pluricaulis whole plant powder in doses of 100 mg/kg body weight (b.w.) and 400 mg/kg b.w. was used. Omega-3 fatty acid (500 mg/kg b.w.) was administered orally alone and along with a higher dose of C. pluricaulis. Scopolamine induced model for amnesia in rats was used in the study and donepezil was taken as standard. Apart from the behavioural analysis, Acetylcholinesterase (AchE) estimation in rat’s whole brain tissue was done using spectrophotometry. Results: C. pluricaulis showed significant memory enhancement in a dose dependent manner (100 mg/kg b.w. and 400 mg/kg b.w.) alone and in combination (C. pluricaulis 400 mg/kg b.w.) with ω-3 fatty acid in dose of 500 mg/kg b.w. Conclusion: The combination of C. pluricaulis and ω-3 fatty acid showed greater significant effect as compared to alone which was comparable to standard drug.The encouraging results reveal the importance of herbal drugs and nutrients in cognition improvement.

Objectives Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC), prolonged skin-to-skin care of the low birth weight baby with the mother plus exclusive breastfeeding reduces neonatal mortality. Global KMC coverage is low. This study was conducted to develop and evaluate context-adapted implementation models to achieve improved coverage.Design This study used mixed-methods applying implementation science to develop an adaptable strategy to improve implementation. Formative research informed the initial model which was refined in three iterative cycles. The models included three components: (1) maximising access to KMC-implementing facilities, (2) ensuring KMC initiation and maintenance in facilities and (3) supporting continuation at home postdischarge.Participants 3804 infants of birth weight under 2000 g who survived the first 3 days, were available in the study area and whose mother resided in the study area.Main outcome measures The primary outcomes were coverage of KMC during the 24 hours prior to discharge and at 7 days postdischarge.Results Key barriers and solutions were identified for scaling up KMC. The resulting implementation model achieved high population-based coverage. KMC initiation reached 68%–86% of infants in Ethiopian sites and 87% in Indian sites. At discharge, KMC was provided to 68% of infants in Ethiopia and 55% in India. At 7 days postdischarge, KMC was provided to 53%–65% of infants in all sites, except Oromia (38%) and Karnataka (36%).Conclusions This study shows how high coverage of KMC can be achieved using context-adapted models based on implementation science. They were supported by government leadership, health workers’ conviction that KMC is the standard of care, women’s and families’ acceptance of KMC, and changes in infrastructure, policy, skills and practice.Trial registration numbers ISRCTN12286667; CTRI/2017/07/008988; NCT03098069; NCT03419416; NCT03506698.

Introduction In India, majority of patients are diagnosed with breast cancer in locally advanced stage. Surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy (RT) are the mainstay of treatment for many patients who are not fit for surgery and need local RT. Materials and Methods This was a single-center, nonstratified, single-blind, nonplacebo-controlled parallel group intervention study with imbalanced randomization done at our institute. Adult patients of 30 to 65 years of age with histologically proven carcinoma of breast with biopsy were registered and assessed. Results In total, 30 patients were included in the study and the mean age was 50 years. All the patients received 30 Gy/10 fractions in 2 weeks and the response was assessed after 4 weeks of completion of RT. Twelve patients observed more than 70% reduction in tumor size and good subjective relief, nine patients observed 40% reduction in tumor size, and six patients observed 30% reduction in tumor size. Two patients did not show any response to RT, while one patient did show progress. All patients received chemotherapy before RT and 28 patients received chemotherapy after RT. Conclusion Thus, whether it is 20 Gy in 5 fractions or 30 Gy in 10 fractions is debatable and needs further study of larger group to establish their benefit on each ­other. However, 30 Gy in 10 fractions gives good subjective response to patients and improves the quality of life.

Advances in the treatment of Ewing's sarcoma family of tumors (ESFTs) are a result of improvements in systemic and local therapies. VACA (vincristine, Adriamycin [doxorubicin], cyclophosphamide, dactinomycin) chemotherapy alone versus VACA + IE (VACA with alternate ifosfamide, etoposide) improve survival, but this regimen cannot be given to all patients due to poor tolerance and 5-day schedule chemotherapy in VACA + IE schedule. We reviewed the records of 50 patients treated as per our institutional protocols from 2007 to 2011. Two schedules of chemotherapy followed were vincristine, Adriamycin, cyclophosphamide (VAC) and VAC with alternate ifosfamide, etoposide (VAC + IE). Factors predictive of local failure and distant recurrence were analyzed. A total of 50 patients were analyzed. The median age at diagnosis was 14 years. Thirty-two patients were male, whereas 18 were female. Approximately, 95% of the patients relapsed after a median time gap of 1.6 years. The median 5-year disease-free survival was 30%. Systemic treatment with VAC or VAC + IE–based chemotherapy had equal local control and distant control rates. Smaller tumors had a better local control and lesser systemic failure than those of larger sizes. Successful treatment of Ewing's sarcoma requires optimal systemic and local therapy. Both the chemotherapy regimens showed equal survival rates. Control of both the local and distant diseases is a result of the combined modality approach. Stage at presentation is the most important factor for prognosis. Complete surgery and local radiotherapy are important predictive factors for local and systemic control.

Context: Vitiligo is a psychosocial problem which significantly affects quality of life in Indian scenario. Aims: The purpose of this study was to compare the changes in quality of life in patients of vitiligo before and after treatment with narrowband ultraviolet B (NBUVB) phototherapy. Subjects and Methods: A total of 54 patients had completed the study. The age ranged between 16 and 70 years with a mean age of 26.77±14.2 years. The initial dose of NBUVB was 300 mJ/cm2 in adults and 150 mJ/cm2 in children twice weekly with 20% dose increment on subsequent visits. It was given for a maximum period of 6 months and was followed up for another 6 months to determine stability of repigmentation. Results: The average number of exposure given to the patients was 45.63±12.74 while the mean irradiation cumulative dose was 39.8 J/cm2. Mean Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) of the vitiligo patients was 8.64±4.32 while those patients with acrofacial vitiligo had a mean DLQI of 11.78±5.61. Background: Scarring due to acne is a frequently encountered problem in dermatological outpatient department. Microneedling has been a well-accepted modality for the treatment of atrophic acne scars. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a newer option to investigate. Aims: The aims of this study were (1) to compare the efficacy of combined dermaroller and PRP therapy with dermaroller alone in facial acne scars and (2) to assess the psychosocial impact due to acne scars and its treatment. Methods: A total of 55 patients were included in the study and randomly divided into two groups, Group A: 28 and Group B: 27. Proper counseling was done, and detailed clinical findings were recorded. Patients in Group A were treated with dermaroller alone while Group B patients underwent treatment with a combination of dermaroller and intradermal PRP injections. A total of three sitting were done at monthly interval. Final response was assessed at 1 month after the last sitting. Criteria of evaluation included Goodman and Baron's quantitative scale, visual analog score, and dermatology life quality index scores. Side effects were noted. Results were analyzed using Chi-square test and t-test. Results: Significant percentage improvement was noted in both the groups. However, Group B treated with both modalities had better results when compared with that in the Group A. Conclusion: A combination approach using dermaroller and PRP was a safe and better option than using dermaroller alone in atrophic acne scars for clinical improvement as well as for improvement in dermatology life quality index score.

Introduction . Omega-3 fatty acids are largely derived from fish oils and are known to decrease inflammation. There have been a few small studies showing the beneficial effect of omega-3 fatty acids in psoriasis. Objective. To evaluate the efficacy of omega-3 fatty acids in conjunction with emollients in patients with mild to moderate chronic plaque psoriasis. Materials and methods . A total of 200 clinically diagnosed cases of chronic plaque psoriasis with less than 10% of body surface area involvement were recruited and divided into group A and group B. Group A was given 1,800 mg daily of omega-3 fatty acids in three divided oral doses and topical paraffin over the lesions. Group B was prescribed only topical paraffin. At the end of 12 weeks, treatment response was assessed by means of Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI), and by its components including area involved, erythema, induration and desquamation scores. Results. The mean PASI score changed from 7.44 to 3.96 in group A, and from 7.24 to 5.19 in group B. There was a statistically significant difference in PASI, erythema, induration, desquamation scores and area involved between the two groups after 12 weeks. Forty four (46.3%) patients in group A and 13 (13.9%) patients in group B achieved a 50% or more reduction in PASI scores. Conclusions . Omega-3 fatty acids in conjunction with topical emollients appear to reduce the severity of psoriasis with no major side effects. The combination can be a useful adjunct to other psoriasis treatments.

Background: Jealousy in a sexual relation has some advantage that it ensures propagation of one’s own gene as put by evolutionary psychologists. However, if this belief is based on unfounded evidence it may impair the relationship between partners and may be extremely distressful. Morbid jealousy may present as obsession, overvalued idea, or delusion as one of the symptoms in different psychiatric disorders. Aim: The aim of the study was to find the frequency of patients with morbid jealousy presenting in the Department of Psychiatry of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), the psychiatric diagnoses of such patients, frequency of different forms of morbid jealousy (obsession, overvalued idea, and delusion). Also, to assess predisposing or triggering factors for jealousy and to assess for suicidality in such patients and their partners. Materials and methods: All patients attending the Department of Psychiatry, PMCH were administered a screening questionnaire and if they qualified they were further administered the operational criteria for morbid jealousy. The psychiatric diagnosis was confirmed with the tenth revision of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems: Diagnostic Criteria for Research (ICD-10: DCR). Each patient was then administered a rating scale to quantify the psychopathology. Results: Out of 970 patients who attended outpatient department, 658 patients were administered the screening questionnaire, 174 qualified who were later assessed with the operational criteria for morbid jealousy. Fifty patients who fulfilled the criteria were assessed. The mean age of presentation for both sexes were 36.44 year (SD=13.12 years). Morbid jealousy was found to be twice as common in males as compared in females. Highest prevalence was found among participants who had higher secondary education, belonged to middle socioeconomic status, and having psychiatric diagnosis of schizophrenia followed by depression. Delusional jealousy was the commonest followed by overvalued idea and obsession. A total of 20% of patients reported substance abuse like alcohol, cannabis, nicotine etc. either currently or in the past. Triggering factors found were spouse working away from home, interaction with opposite sex, attractiveness as perceived by the person with morbid jealousy. Females either as patients of morbid jealousy or as partners of a morbidly jealous spouse, carried the higher risk of suicide as compared to males.

The environmental contamination with high salt is the elementary intimidation to the agriculture. Maize plants were deeply affected due to salinity worldwide and a severe problem to scientists. A probable survival strategy of the plants under unpleasant environmental circumstances is to use of endogenous metabolites that could ameliorate the harsh effect of salinity. Current study was under taken to observe the effect of cinnamic acid (CA), a central molecule of phenylpropanoid pathway (Secondary metabolism) on the growth and development of maize plants under NaCl stress conditions. CA is rapidly produced by plants in response to stressful condition. Response to maize seed to the presoaking treatment 0.05mM CA was deliberated under different concentration of NaCl stress such as 50, 100, 150, 200, mM NaCl for 14 days. The injurious effects of salinity on growth and development were manifested by decreased fresh weight, dry weight, and relative water content (RWC) and chlorophyll pigment contents. Degree of lipid peroxidation turned down through the significant decrease in MDA content in maize seedlings. CA induced the anatomical properties under salinity .In present exploration. The cortical cells were induced in root in response to CA than stress. Here, the present study was undertaken with the aim of determining salt induced anatomical and morphological alteration in the presence of exogenous CA. The major reduction in dimension of cortical cells was observed which indicate that salt stress reduced the tolerance of cortical cell more than treatment in maize root. We conclude that CA is a potential phenylpyranoid for protecting crop plant under saline environment.

In the present study, phytochemical contents of 25 moth bean (Vigna aconitifolia) seed accessions were evaluated. This includes protease inhibitors, phytic acid, radical scavenging activity, and tannins. The studies revealed significant variation in the contents of theses phytochemicals. Presence of photochemical composition was correlated with seed storage proteins like albumin and globulin. Qualitative identification of total seed storage protein abundance across two related moth bean accessions using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2D-GE) was performed. Over 20 individual protein fractions were distributed over the gel as a series of spots in two moth bean accessions. Seed proteome accumulated spots of high intensity over a broad range of pI values of 3–10 in a molecular weight range of 11–170 kDa. In both seed accessions maximum protein spots are seen in the pI range of 6–8.

Proteomic analysis was employed to map the seed storage protein network in landrace and cultivated chickpea accessions. Protein extracts were separated by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2D-GE) across a broad range 3.0–10.0 immobilized pH gradient (IPG) strips. Comparative elucidation of differentially expressed proteins between two diverse geographically originated chickpea accessions was carried out using 2D-GE coupled with mass spectrometry. A total of 600 protein spots were detected in these accessions. In-gel protein expression patterns revealed three protein spots as upregulated and three other as downregulated. Using trypsin in-gel digestion, these differentially expressed proteins were identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) which showed 45% amino acid homology of chickpea seed storage proteins with Arabidopsis thaliana.
