We show that momentum space Feynman diagrams involving internal massless fields can be cast as conformal integrals. This leads to a classification of all Feynman diagrams into conformal families, labelled by conformal integrals. Computing the conformal integral in each family suffices to compute all the Feynman diagrams in the family exactly. Using known exact results for some conformal integrals, we present the solutions to the other Feynman diagrams in the corresponding families. Differential Dynamic Programming (DDP) is one of the indirect methods for solving an optimal control problem. Several extensions to DDP have been proposed to add stagewise state and control constraints, which can mainly be classified as augmented lagrangian methods, active set methods, and barrier methods. In this paper, we use an interior point method, which is a type of barrier method, to incorporate arbitrary stagewise equality and inequality state and control constraints. We also provide explicit update formulas for all the involved variables. Finally, we apply this algorithm to example systems such as the inverted pendulum, a continuously stirred tank reactor, car parking, and obstacle avoidance.

We show that position space correlators of a Poincare invariant quantum field theory can be recast in terms of conformally invariant correlators, in other words, as functions of conformal cross ratios. In particular, we show that correlators of massless fields in flat spacetimes with $n-$point interactions can be expressed as position space soft limits of conformally invariant correlators with $(n+1)-$point interactions. We show that this correspondence applies at the level of every Feynman diagram that appears in the perturbative expansion of the correlators in the respective coupling constants. We apply this method to find exact answers for some Feynman diagrams including several loop examples. We consider the path integral of a quantum field theory in Minkowski spacetime with fixed boundary values (for the elementary fields) on asymptotic boundaries. We define and study the corresponding boundary correlation functions obtained by taking derivatives of this path integral with respect to the boundary values. The S-matrix of the QFT can be extracted directly from these boundary correlation functions after smearing. We interpret this relation in terms of coherent state quantization and derive the constraints on the path-integral as a function of boundary values that follow from the unitarity of the S-matrix. We then study the locality structure of boundary correlation functions. In the massive case, we find that the boundary correlation functions for generic locations of boundary points are dominated by a saddle point which has the interpretation of particles scattering in a small elevator in the bulk, where the location of the elevator is determined dynamically, and the S-matrix can be recovered after stripping off some dynamically determined but non-local ``renormalization'' factors. In the massless case, we find that while the boundary correlation functions are generically analytic as a function on the whole manifold of locations of boundary points, they have special singularities on a sub-manifold, points on which correspond to light-like scattering in the bulk. We completely characterize this singular scattering sub-manifold, and find that the corresponding residues of the boundary correlations at these singularities are precisely given by S-matrices. This analysis parallels the analysis of bulk-point singularities in AdS/CFT and generalizes it to the case of multi-bulk point singularities.

We study a novel asymptotic limit of massive scalar fields in nongravitational quantum field theories in four-dimensional flat space. We foliate the spacetime into a set of dS$_3$ slices that are spacelike to, and at a constant proper distance from, an arbitrarily chosen origin, and study the boundary dS$_3$ obtained in the infinite-distance limit. Massive bulk fields have an exponentially small tail in this limit, and by stripping off this tail we obtain observables that are intrinsic to the boundary dS$_3$. A single massive field in the bulk can be decomposed into an infinite set of dS$_3$ fields, and the Minkowski vacuum corresponds to the Euclidean vacuum for these fields. Our procedure for extrapolating bulk observables induces potential singularities in boundary correlators but we show how they can be cured in the free theory by smearing the boundary operators. We show that by integrating boundary operators with suitable smearing functions it is possible to reconstruct all local bulk operators in the free theory. We argue, using perturbation theory, that our extrapolation procedure continues to be well defined in the presence of interactions. We demonstrate a relationship between the width of the boundary smearing function and the localization of the bulk field. We study other interesting properties of the boundary algebra including the action of global translations and the manner in which local bulk interactions are encoded on the boundary., Comment: 54 pages; 4 figures

We investigate the notion of asymptotic symmetries in classical gravity in higher even dimensions, with $D = 6$ space-time dimensions as the prototype. Unlike in four dimensions, certain non-linearities persist which necessitates the complete non-linear analysis we undertake. We show that the free data is parametrized by a pair of symmetric trace-free tensors at future (past) null infinity. This involves a redefinition of the radiative field. We define a symplectic structure generating the radiative phase space at ${\cal I}^{\pm}$ with appropriate boundary conditions which are preserved by the action of supertranslations. We derive the charge associated to super-translation vector fields and this charge matches with that derived using the equations of motion in the full non-linear theory. We elaborate on the precise relationship between the super-translation charge, the Bondi mass aspect and the "gravitational memory" in six space-time dimensions, thus providing the first example of an infrared triangle in non-linear gravity beyond four dimensions., Comment: 19 + 16 pages

Planar black holes in AdS have long-lived quasinormal modes which capture the physics of charge and momentum diffusion in the dual field theory. How should we characterize the effective dynamics of a probe system coupled to the conserved currents of the dual field theory? Specifically, how would such a probe record the long-lived memory of the black hole and its Hawking fluctuations? We address this question by exhibiting a universal gauge invariant framework which captures the physics of stochastic diffusion in holography: a designer scalar with a gravitational coupling governed by a single parameter, the Markovianity index. We argue that the physics of gauge and gravitational perturbations of a planar Schwarzschild-AdS black hole can be efficiently captured by such designer scalars. We demonstrate that this framework allows one to decouple, at the quadratic order, the long-lived quasinormal and Hawking modes from the short-lived ones. It furthermore provides a template for analyzing fluctuating open quantum field theories with memory. In particular, we use this set-up to analyze the diffusive Hawking photons and gravitons about a planar Schwarzschild-AdS black hole and derive the quadratic effective action that governs fluctuating hydrodynamics of the dual CFT. We formulate a version of the double copy for classical fields in curved spacetimes. We provide a correspondence between perturbative solutions to the bi-adjoint scalar equations and those of the Yang-Mills equations in position space. At the linear level, we show that there exists a map between these solutions for maximally symmetric spacetime backgrounds, that provides every Yang-Mills solution by the action of an appropriate differential operator on a bi-adjoint scalar solution. Given the existence of a linearized map, we show that it is possible to cast the solutions of the Yang-Mills equations at arbitrary perturbation order in terms of the corresponding bi-adjoint scalar solutions. This all-order map is reminiscent of the flat space BCJ double copy, and works for any curved spacetime where the perturbative expansion holds. We argue that, in a theory of quantum gravity in a four dimensional asymptotically flat spacetime, all information about massless excitations can be obtained from an infinitesimal neighbourhood of the past boundary of future null infinity and does not require observations over all of future null infinity. Moreover, all information about the state that can be obtained through observations near a cut of future null infinity can also be obtained from observations near any earlier cut although the converse is not true. We provide independent arguments for these two assertions. Similar statements hold for past null infinity. These statements have immediate implications for the information paradox since they suggest that the fine-grained von Neumann entropy of the state defined on a segment $(-\infty,u)$ of future null infinity is independent of u. This is very different from the oft-discussed Page curve that this entropy is sometimes expected to obey. We contrast our results with recent discussions of the Page curve in the context of black hole evaporation, and also discuss the relation of our results to other proposals for holography in flat space., Comment: 44 pages (v2) refs added. typos fixed

We establish a correspondence between perturbative classical gluon and gravitational radiation emitted by spinning sources, to linear order in spin. This is an extension of the non-spinning classical perturbative double copy and uses the same color-to-kinematic replacements. The gravitational theory has a scalar (dilaton) and a 2-form field (the Kalb-Ramon axion) in addition to the graviton. In arXiv:1712.09250, we computed axion radiation in the gravitational theory to show that the correspondence fixes its action. Here, we present complete details of the gravitational computation. In particular, we also calculate the graviton and dilaton amplitudes in this theory and find that they precisely match with the predictions of the double copy. This constitutes a non-trivial check of the classical double copy correspondence, and brings us closer to the goal of simplifying the calculation of gravitational wave observables for astrophysically relevant sources., Comment: 20 pages, 4 figures

We extend the perturbative double copy between radiating classical sources in gauge theory and gravity to the case of spinning particles. We construct, to linear order in spins, perturbative radiating solutions to the classical Yang-Mills equations sourced by a set of interacting color charges with chromomagnetic dipole spin couplings. Using a color-to-kinematics replacement rule proposed earlier by one of the authors, these solutions map onto radiation in a theory of interacting particles coupled to massless fields that include the graviton, a scalar (dilaton) $\phi$ and the Kalb-Ramond axion field $B_{\mu\nu}$. Consistency of the double copy imposes constraints on the parameters of the theory on both the gauge and gravity sides of the correspondence. In particular, the color charges carry a chromomagnetic interaction which, in $d=4$, corresponds to a gyromagnetic ratio equal to Dirac's value $g=2$. The color-to-kinematics map implies that on the gravity side, the bulk theory of the fields $(\phi,g_{\mu\nu},B_{\mu\nu})$ has interactions which match those of $d$-dimensional `string gravity,' as is the case both in the BCJ double copy of pure gauge theory scattering amplitudes and the KLT relations between the tree-level $S$-matrix elements of open and closed string theory., Comment: 10+5 pages, LaTeX, 2 figures. v2:Fixed typos and added minor clarifications

We find double copy relations between classical radiating solutions in Yang-Mills theory coupled to dynamical color charges and their counterparts in a cubic bi-adjoint scalar field theory which interacts linearly with particles carrying bi-adjoint charge. The particular color-to-kinematics replacements we employ are motivated by the BCJ double copy correspondence for on-shell amplitudes in gauge and gravity theories. They are identical to those recently used to establish relations between classical radiating solutions in gauge theory and in dilaton gravity. Our explicit bi-adjoint solutions are constructed to second order in a perturbative expansion, and map under the double copy onto gauge theory solutions which involve at most cubic gluon self-interactions. If the correspondence is found to persist to higher orders in perturbation theory, our results suggest the possibility of calculating gravitational radiation from colliding compact objects, directly from a scalar field with vastly simpler (purely cubic) Feynman vertices., Comment: 9+2 pages, 1 figure. v3: Added an appendix. Motivated by applications to the study of ultracold atomic gases near the unitarity limit, we investigate the structure of the operator product expansion (OPE) in non-relativistic conformal field theories (NRCFTs). The main tool used in our analysis is the representation theory of charged (i.e. non-zero particle number) operators in the NRCFT, in particular the mapping between operators and states in a non-relativistic "radial quantization" Hilbert space. Our results include: a determination of the OPE coefficients of descendant operators in terms of those of the underlying primary state, a demonstration of convergence of the (imaginary time) OPE in certain kinematic limits, and an estimate of the decay rate of the OPE tail inside matrix elements which, as in relativistic CFTs, depends exponentially on operator dimensions. To illustrate our results we consider several examples, including a strongly interacting field theory of bosons tuned to the unitarity limit, as well as a class of holographic models. Given the similarity with known statements about the OPE in SO(2,d) invariant field theories, our results suggest the existence of a bootstrap approach to constraining NRCFTs, with applications to bound state spectra and interactions. Studies of R-parity violating (RPV) supersymmetry typically assume that nucleon stability is protected by approximate baryon number (B) or lepton number (L) conservation. We present a new class of RPV models that violate B and L simultaneously (BLRPV), without inducing rapid nucleon decay. These models feature an approximate $Z_2^e \times Z_2^\mu \times Z_2^\tau$ flavor symmetry, which forbids 2-body nucleon decay and ensures that flavor antisymmetric $L L E^c$ couplings are the only non-negligible L-violating operators. Nucleons are predicted to decay through $N \rightarrow K e \mu \nu$ and $n \rightarrow e \mu \nu$; the resulting bounds on RPV couplings are rather mild. Novel collider phenomenology arises because the superpartners can decay through both L-violating and B-violating couplings. This can lead to, for example, final states with high jet multiplicity and multiple leptons of different flavor, or a spectrum in which depending on the superpartner, either B or L violating decays dominate.
