Abstract

This paper aims to investigate the emission characteristics of biodiesel prepared from the waste cooking oil. The characterization of the performance of the blended fuel in diesel engines results in an improvement and a reduction in hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide emissions. Various amounts of fuel were mixed with leftover cooking oil to create the final product. In order to explore the performance function, combustion range, and emission properties of diesel engines, the setup described here was developed. The combustion properties, including exhaust gas emissions of NOx, CO, CO2, HC, smoke, and O2, have been examined under various load scenarios.

Abstract

The period that followed World War II was a period of disillusionment and depression. People all over the world began to question the meaning of life and felt a certain amount of emptiness in their lives. People felt that there was no more challenge and cause to move ahead of the period after the World War II, when Osborne's Look Back in Anger was staged. There was no reason or cause that could enhance the greatness of Britain as was done in the past. Young idealists like Osbornes felt that there was something lacking in their country and in them. The political situation was rather conducive to a welfare state. In 1951, the festival of Britain was celebrated to showcase the technological and artistic achievements of Britain. This was an exercise to make the people feel proud of their country and also claim a certain status in the international scene. Politicians could no longer sustain the interest of the people because the agenda of every party was similar and did not make any difference or solution to the disillusioned common man. The people were dissatisfied because there was no social focus and ideology to make a political projection and sustain their enthusiasm. Abstract

The relationship between feminism and psychoanalysis is simple in outline but complex in nuance. The relationship can be traced back to Kate Millet's Sexual Politics in 1969, which blames Freud for the Patriarchal attitudes that Feminists must combat. This viewpoint continues to have a strong influence within feminism, but Freud was defended in a series of important books in subsequent years, most notably Juliet Mitchell's Psychoanalysis and Feminism in 1974. Bali: The Sacrifice is the translation of GirishKarnad's Kannada play, HittinaHunja. It deals with the sacrifice of 'the cock of dough' and takes up the issue of non-violence to discuss. The Queen becomes unfaithful to her husband in having extra-marital relationship with Mahout. She does so because she was married to the King without her willingness. The Queen attains dexterity. The extra-marital relationship of the queen with Mahout is not condemned but glorified in order to oppose the institution of marriage which is always against the interest of woman. GirishKarnad carved the Queen as a flattery character because she develops an extra-marital relationship with the King's elephant keeper Mahout. The Queen deliberately turned into polyandry. This article gives the vivid analysis in respect to psychoanalysis of Freud and feminism with the Queen and the Mother Queen. The Queen deliberately disgraced the sanctity of the marital bliss and the ideals of religion. The Queen defile patriarchy and mock at it by turning out as polyandry. The psyche of women is different from men. They think in different plane altogether. They break the patriarchal rules with their full knowledge. India uses the Cheque Truncation System (CTS), an image-based check clearing system. The semi-manual approach has some drawbacks and can take up to 3 working days in India to clear an inter-bank national check. Due to the shortcomings of this system, commercial banks and cheque users must have access to an effective and secure system that can clear a check in less than 24 hours while maintaining the systems integrity and anonymity. This study presents an automated solution to the aforementioned problems that might be implemented by any commercial bank in India. Abstract

The current study presents the findings of fish species inventories conducted at 12 locations in 'Kallar', the perennial tributary of the undammed Achankovil River that flows through the Achankovil Reserve Forest in Kerala State. A new checklist of ichthyofauna is prepared, by adding the updated scientific names, which comprises 35 species from 27 genera, 13 families, and eight orders. In order of abundance, Opsarius bakeri, Salmostoma boopis, and Garra surendranathanii were the most prevalent species in the Kallar tributary. Eight of the total species documented are listed as threatened on IUCN Red List. The study reports the presence of a poorly known smiliogastrin cyprinid, Dawkinsia lepida for the first time in the Achankovil River as well as the range expansion of the threatened catfish, Batasio travancoria, and the Malabar Spiny Eel Macrognathus guentheri to the Kallar tributary. The study also reports a species of Balitora from Kallar, distinct from its congeners in several morphometric and meristic characteristics. The absence of any non-native fish species in the study area revealed the pristine nature of the stream habitat. A comparison of diversity indices with the available pre-flood study revealed that the fish species composition in Kallar stream has not altered as a result of the 2018 catastrophic flood. The main existing threat is the practice of destructive fishing at high levels by local communities adjacent to but outside the forest area during the dry season by damming the streamlets and then applying plant-based piscicides. It is recommended that fishing be banned during dry season because this is the time of year when the majority of the upstream fishes breed. The existing environment and fisheries acts should also be strictly enforced. For the sake of future conservation, the competent authorities should see to it that the last remaining natural forest cover in the Kanayar and Kallar ranges are safeguarded from being converted to forest plantations. Abstract

Background: Balancing the risks of recurrent ischaemic stroke and intracranial haemorrhage is important for patients treated with antithrombotic therapy after ischaemic stroke or transient ischaemic attack. However, existing predictive models offer insufficient performance, particularly for assessing the risk of intracranial haemorrhage. We aimed to develop new risk scores incorporating clinical variables and cerebral microbleeds, an MRI biomarker of intracranial haemorrhage and ischaemic stroke risk. Method(s): We did a pooled analysis of individual-patient data from the Microbleeds International Collaborative Network (MICON), which includes 38 hospital-based prospective cohort studies from 18 countries. All studies recruited participants with previous ischaemic stroke or transient ischaemic attack, acquired baseline MRI allowing quantification of cerebral microbleeds, and followed-up participants for ischaemic stroke and intracranial haemorrhage. Participants not taking antithrombotic drugs were excluded. We developed Cox regression models to predict the 5-year risks of intracranial haemorrhage and ischaemic stroke, selecting candidate predictors on biological relevance and simplifying models using backward elimination. We derived integer risk scores for clinical use. We assessed model performance in internal validation, adjusted for optimism using bootstrapping. The study is registered on PROSPERO, CRD42016036602. Finding(s): The included studies recruited participants between Aug 28, 2001, and Feb 4, 2018. 15 766 participants had follow-up for intracranial haemorrhage, and 15 784 for ischaemic stroke. Over a median follow-up of 2 years, 184 intracranial haemorrhages and 1048 ischaemic strokes were reported. The risk models we developed included cerebral microbleed burden and simple clinical variables. Abstract

The Lakshadweep Islands are well-known for their abundant fishery resources. Present study primarily focused on the systematic representation of IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Red Listed marine finfish landings of Chetlat Island of Lakshadweep archipelago (India). Monthly collections were carried out from September 2019 to February 2020 from the study area. A list of finfishes along with their scientific name, common name, family, and present conservation status was prepared. As per the IUCN Red List, out of 41 fish species identified, one species is ‘Endangered’ (EN), two species are ‘Near Threatened’ (NT), four species are ‘Vulnerable’ (VU), one species ‘Data Deficient’ (DD), 29 species ‘Least Concern’ (LC), and four species are ‘Not Evaluated’ (NE) categories. Abstract

Diversity studies of endophytic assemblages are emerging challenges, which unveil novel phenotypes producing interesting chemical entities and a better understanding of their ecological significance. In the present investigation, we selected an extremely complex and unique environment supporting unexplored endophytes, ‘Macroalgae of Kerala coast, India’. Unlike terrestrial flora and mangroves, reports displaying endophytic assemblages of marine flora remain limited, especially from India. The main goal of this study was to expose hidden endophytic fungi from macroalgae and examination of their bioactive potential. An ecological investigation of four red, four green and three brown algae resulted in 133 fungal taxa with 29 distinct morphospecies. Aspergillus and Penicillium were found to be the dominant genera. Penicillium chrysogenum was the sole fungi that contributed 11% of the entire endophytic community. Antimicrobial activity against various aquaculture/human pathogens revealed that around 59% of endophytes inhibited at least one of the pathogens screened. The maximum number of isolates (37%) inhibited Escherichia coli tailed by Aspergillus fumigatus (27%). Antimicrobial profile of fungal endophytes endorses them as a potential source of bioactive molecules that can be explored to find a solution for drug resistance in microbial pathogens.
