One of the main factors causing suicide is depression. However, many cases of depression go undiagnosed because they are not correctly diagnosed. An increasing number of people with mental illnesses express their emotions online using tools like social media (SM) and specialized websites. Recently, efforts have been made to use Machine Learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) models to predict depression from SM platforms. However, it is problematic that most ML algorithms now provide no explanation. As a result, this study proposes a novel Deep Learning (DL) model called residual network 50, which includes optimal long short-term memory (RNT-OLSTM) for Depression Detection (DD) on Twitter data. In addition, to address the issue of data imbalance in the Twitter data, a cluster-based oversampling approach is used, which considerably reduces the possibility of bias towards the dominant class (non-depressed).. Finally, the embedding layers are inputted to RNT-OLSTM for DD, in which the hyperparameters of the network are tuned using the Sine Chaotic map and constriction factor-based Coyote Optimization Algorithm (SCCOA) to minimize the prediction loss. The out-comes prove that the proposed system performs better than the existing schemes for the DD of imbalanced Twitter data with higher detection rates.

Background: Association between the ABO blood group and patient outcomes in COVID-19 patients is still unexplored. A known association may help to understand possible risks in advance to the management of such COVID-19 patients. The present study was designed to test such association if there is any, between the ABO blood group and the severity of COVID-19 patients. Methods: The present hospital-based observational study was conducted at a COVID-19 dedicated tertiary care hospital in North India over a period of six months during the first wave of the pandemic in the country. Five hundred consecutive patients, who tested positive for COVID-19 using RT-PCR on oropharyngeal/nasopharyngeal swabs, admitted to the hospital were included in the study. ABO and Rhesus (Rh) blood grouping was done on leftover hematology blood samples using gel column agglutination technology. Required clinical details of patients including age, gender, clinical symptoms, comorbidities, outcomes, etc., were obtained from the patient’s case sheets. Results: The most common blood group was ‘B’ (42.8%) followed by ‘O’ (23.4%), and ‘A’ (22.4%) while the least common was ‘AB’ (11.4%). Rh positive was seen in 96.2% while 3.8% were negative. Baseline characteristics were comparable including length of hospital stay, duration of symptoms, and associated comorbid illnesses. The need for intensive care unit (ICU) admissions (P = 0.05) and intubations (P = 0.20) was similar across all four blood groups. Differences in the severity of COVID-19 disease and mortalities among the groups were non-significant. Conclusion: There was no observed association found between the ABO blood group and COVID-19 infection requiring hospitalization, ICU admission, intubation, and outcomes. However, there was a higher proportion of breathlessness and the presence of at least one comorbidity in blood group O as compared to others.

Lineaments are the linear geological features can extend from few meters to hundreds of kms. Geologically lineaments are either structural or stratigraphical, typically it will comprise fault, fold axis, bedding contacts, dyke intrusions, shear zone or a straight coast line. Mapping lineaments using remote sensing is economical, faster can act as a preliminary study for geophysical survey such as gravity, electrical, magnetic and seismic etc. Generally, lineaments have been mapped using the optical remote sensing data such as Landsat, Resourcesat etc. For India, Lineaments were mapped using the LISS III and LISS IV of Resourcesat-1 & 2 at a scale of 1:50k. However in tropical region like India, limited exposure of ground due to vegetation cover, lineaments may go unnoticed in optical remote sensing data. This problem can be overcome by Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data, which can penetrate ground significantly. With the launch of RISAT-1 satellite, data availability of SAR data is immense for Indian region. Aim of this study to explore the SAR data and merged SAR and optical data for lineament mapping.

Many of the pathological consequences of chronic kidney disease can be attributed to an elevation in serum phosphate levels. Current therapies focused on decreasing intestinal phosphate absorption to treat hyperphosphatemia are inadequate. The most effective therapeutic strategy may be to target multiple absorptive pathways. In this study, the ability of a novel inhibitor of the intestinal sodium hydrogen exchanger 3 (NHE3), LY3304000, which inhibits paracellular, diffusional uptake of phosphate, to work in combination with an inhibitor of the active transporter, sodium dependent phosphate cotransporter 2b (NPT2b), LY3358966, was explored. LY3304000 modestly inhibited the acute uptake of phosphate into plasma of rats, while surprisingly, it doubled the rate of phosphate uptake in mice, an animal model dominated by NPT2b mediated acute phosphate uptake. In rats, LY3004000 and LY3358966 work in concert to inhibit acute phosphate uptake. On top of LY3358966, LY3304000 further decreased the acute uptake of phosphate into plasma. Studies measuring the recovery of radiolabeled phosphate in the intestine demonstrated LY3304000 and LY3358966 synergistically inhibited the absorption of phosphate in rats. We hypothesize the synergism is because the NHE3 inhibitor, LY3304000, has two opposing effects on intestinal phosphate absorption in rats, first it decreases diffusion mediated paracellular phosphate absorption, while second, it simultaneously increases phosphate absorption through the NPT2b pathway. NHE3 inhibition decreases proton export from enterocytes and raises the cell surface pH. In vitro, NPT2b mediated phosphate transport is increased at higher pHs. The increased NPT2b mediated transport induced by NHE3 inhibition is masked in rats which have relatively low levels of NPT2b mediated phosphate transport, by the more robust inhibition of diffusion mediated phosphate absorption. Thus, the inhibition of NPT2b mediated phosphate transport in rats in the presence of NHE3 inhibition has an effect that exceeds its effect in the absence of NHE3 inhibition, leading to the observed synergism on phosphate absorption between NPT2b and NHE3 inhibition.

The fingerprint pattern stands out as the most authentic and unique characteristic defining human identity. This unique pattern is immutable and persists unaltered until an individual's demise. In various circumstances, particularly in legal proceedings, fingerprint evidence is highly regarded. The distinctive minutiae pattern of each person is unparalleled, with the probability of resemblance being exceedingly low, nearly one in sixty-four thousand million. This distinctiveness holds true even for identical duplet. The individualistic ridge pattern persists unchanged from birth, serving as a constant aspect of personal identity. This paper presents a method involving the comparison of specific feature patterns derived from fingerprints for personal identification systems. Fingerprint data is employed in the investigation of blood group determination as well. In the process of fingerprint matching, ridge frequency is assessed, and spatial features are extracted using a Gabor filter for this specific purpose. Consequently, blood group determination can be performed using fingerprint analysis.

A terminal [NiII−OH] complex 1, supported by triflamide‐functionalized NHC ligands, showed divergent reactivity for the reaction of sulfone with alcohol, contingent on base concentration, temperature, and time. Julia‐type olefination of alcohols with sulfones was achieved using one equiv. of base, whereas lowering base loading to 0.5 equiv. afforded α‐alkylated sulfones. Besides excellent substrate scope and selectivity, biologically active stilbene derivatives DMU‐212, pinosylvin, resveratrol, and piceatannol were synthesized in high yield under Julia‐type olefination conditions. Summary: The SARS-CoV-2 viral pandemic has induced a global health crisis, which requires more in-depth investigation into immunological responses to develop effective treatments and vaccines. To understand protective immunity against COVID-19, we screened over 60,000 asymptomatic individuals in the Southeastern United States for IgG antibody positivity against the viral Spike protein, and approximately 3% were positive. Of these 3%, individuals with the highest anti-S or anti-RBD IgG level showed a strong correlation with inhibition of ACE2 binding and cross-reactivity against non-SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus S-proteins. We also analyzed samples from 94 SARS-CoV-2 patients and compared them with those of asymptomatic individuals. SARS-CoV-2 symptomatic patients had decreased antibody responses, ACE2 binding inhibition, and antibody cross-reactivity. Our study shows that healthy individuals can mount robust immune responses against SARS-CoV-2 without symptoms. Furthermore, IgG antibody responses against S and RBD may correlate with high inhibition of ACE2 binding in individuals tested for SARS-CoV-2 infection or post vaccination.

Introduction: Stroke is the second leading cause of mortality and disability worldwide. A large proportion of stroke survivors are left with significant disability. Assessing stroke severity and predicting morbidity and mortality is essential for treatment decisions and counseling. Traditionally used tools like the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) are not reliable in predicting mortality. Studies have shown that B-type Natriuretic Peptide (BNP) and N-terminal pro Brain Natriuretic Peptide (NT-proBNP) are elevated in acute stroke. Aim: To assess the prognostic importance of NT-proBNP in stroke. Materials and Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted at Sri Devaraj URS Medical College (SDUMC), SDUAHER, Kolar, Karnataka, India involving 64 consecutive stroke patients from July 2018 to September 2019. Serum NTproBNP levels were measured on both the day of admission and on day 7. Stroke severity was assessed using the NIHSS on admission day, and functional disability was determined using the Barthel Index (BI) at the 3-month mark. Data were entered into MS Excel for statistical analysis, where a p-value of <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The average age of the subjects was 62.36 years with a standard deviation of 12.15 years. The average NIHSS on the day of admission was 12.81 (7), and it was 20.2 (5.882) among deceased patients. The mean NT-proBNP on admission was 776.70 (1023.6) pg/mL, significantly elevated in deceased patients at 2014.65 (1320.546) compared to survivors at 328.94 (239.353). NT-proBNP is strongly associated with stroke severity (NIHSS) (R2=0.522; Spearman's correlation coefficient=0.843, p-value <0.001) and functional outcome (BI) (R2=0.824; Spearman's correlation coefficient -0.923, p-value <0.001) at three months. On Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analysis, a serum NT-proBNP level of 960 pg/mL had a sensitivity and specificity of 94.1% and 97.9% in predicting mortality, and a value of 435.1 pg/mL had a sensitivity and specificity of 90% and 81% in predicting disability. Conclusion: Serum NT-proBNP was significantly elevated in patients after stroke and was strongly associated with stroke severity and functional outcome at three months. Measuring serum NT-proBNP on the day of admission can predict mortality and functional dependence after acute ischaemic stroke. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
