This work applies a quantitative metric well-known to the data assimilation community to a new context in order to capture the relative representativeness of non-simultaneous or non-co-located observations and quantify how these observations decorrelate in both space and time. This methodology allows for the effective determination of thresholding decisions for representative matchup conditions, and is especially useful for informing future network designs and architectures. Future weather and climate satellite missions must consider a range of architectural trades to meet observing requirements. Frequently, fundamental decisions such as the number of observatories, the instruments manifested, and orbit parameters are determined based upon assumptions about the characteristic temporal and spatial scales of variability of the target observation. With the introduced methodology, representativity errors due to separations in space and time can be quantified without prior knowledge of instrument performance, and errors driven by constellation design can be estimated without model ingest or analysis.

Retinal imaging is an important tool to monitor the progression of DR. While seven-standard retinal fields are the traditional method for evaluating DR, ultra-widefield (UWF) imaging allows for improved visualization of peripheral areas of nonperfusion (NP) and neovascularization (NV), which could be used as biomarkers to monitor and predict progression of DR.Methods: A retrospective, cross-sectional study was conducted on 651 eyes from 363 patients diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who received UWF-FA over 10 years. Fluorescein Angiography (FA) images were segmented, and surface areas of NP and NV were analyzed using multivariate regression to determine if biomarkers of DR and DR severity are associated with increasing areas of NP and NV.Results: Each additional year with a diagnosis of DR was associated with a 10.75 mm2 increase in the total NP (95% CI, 1.94— 19.56; P = 0.02) and 7.87 mm2 increase in NP far-periphery (95% CI, 1.62— 14.13; P = 0.01). A one-unit change in severity as defined by the Early Treatment of Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) classification was associated with a 25.75 mm2 increase in total NP (95% CI, 11.16— 40.33; P = 0.001), a 13.15 mm2 increase in mid-periphery NP (95% CI, 6.93— 19.38; P < 0.0001), and a 12.29 mm2 increase in far-periphery NP (95% CI, 3.62— 20.97; P = 0.01).Discussion: Biomarkers identified through UWF imaging such as total and regional areas of NP can be used to monitor and predict the progression of DR. This may provide a quantitative method for prognostication in patients with DR.keywords: diabetic retinopathy, ultra-widefield fluorescein angiography, nonperfusion, neovascularization

OBJECTIVE: Evaluate the incidence and characteristics of breast cancers (BC) diagnosed following an epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) diagnosis in women with pathogenic BRCA mutations. METHODS: Retrospective cohort study of all women in an integrated healthcare system with BRCA mutations diagnosed with EOC from 1/1/1997-12/31/2018. Primary outcome was rate of subsequent BC diagnosis. Secondary outcomes included risk factors associated with development of BC, median time to detection following EOC, and method of detection. RESULTS: There were 284 women with BRCA-associated EOC identified. Fifty-two women had risk-reducing mastectomy and were excluded. Of the 232 eligible women with a median follow-up of 5.6 years, 33 (14%) women were diagnosed with BC following EOC: 27 (11%) new cases and 6 (3%) recurrences. Twelve (36%) cases of BC were detected on screening mammogram, 4 (12%) on screening MRI, and 9 (27%) on work-up after presenting with a palpable lump. Twenty-nine (87%) were early stage (0-II) disease. Median interval from EOC to BC diagnosis was 80 months (IQR 32, 134) for new and 63 months (IQR 21, 94) for recurrent BCs. There was one death from breast cancer while 12 women died of ovarian cancer. CONCLUSIONS: Most BC following BRCA-associated EOC is early stage and not associated with mortality. Given BC rate similar to general population and median diagnosis at 6.6 years following ovarian cancer, increased BC screening may not be warranted in the early years after EOC diagnosis.

- Abstract
In this project we test the utility of an adaptive e-learning study tool (LearnSmart) within the context of a large undergraduate psychology course. We measured student usage of the e-learning tool and the effect that this usage has on academic outcomes, while controlling for the effects of intellectual ability and personality traits such as conscientiousness and openness to experience. The results of our analyses indicate that students who made use of the tool performed significantly better on the assessment tasks when compared to non-users. Further, regression analyses indicated that the extent to which students made use of the tool was a stronger predictor of academic performance than four personality variables that had previously been implicated in the literature as related to academic outcomes, and was a stronger predictor of academic performance than intellectual ability for two of the four academic tasks.

The automated detection of corrosion from images (i.e., photographs) or video (i.e., drone footage) presents significant advantages in terms of corrosion monitoring. Such advantages include access to remote locations, mitigation of risk to inspectors, cost savings and monitoring speed. The automated detection of corrosion requires deep learning to approach human level artificial intelligence (A.I.). The training of a deep learning model requires intensive image labelling, and in order to generate a large database of labelled images, crowd sourced labelling via a dedicated website was sought. The website (corrosiondetector.com) permits any user to label images, with such labelling then contributing to the training of a cloud based A.I. model - with such a cloud-based model then capable of assessing any fresh (or uploaded) image for the presence of corrosion. In other words, the website includes both the crowd sourced training process, but also the end use of the evolving model. Herein, the results and findings from the website (corrosiondetector.com) over the period of approximately one month, are reported., Comment: presubmission, computer vision, deep learning

The Delta and Omicron variants contributed to additional surges. We describe the impact that the initial pandemic phase had on frequency and severity of typically non-life-threatening emergencies using upper extremity injuries as a model for other potentially emergent presentation as compared to pre-pandemic times. We do this using the epidemiology of pre-defined significant upper extremity injuries at our facility as a specific example of what occurred at an urban trauma center. Methods: We conducted a comparison of two 6-month periods: between March 2019 and August 2019 (prior to COVID-19) and between March 2020 and August 2020 after the onset of the initial COVID-19 wave. We performed a retrospective chart review of patients who presented with upper extremity injury chief complaints using analysis of the electronic medical record at a single urban tertiary care trauma center in the Midwestern United States. We investigated examination findings, imaging, frequency of surgical procedures and final diagnosis. Results: In the 2019 study period, there were 31,157 ED patients, including 429 with upper extremity injuries, of which 108 patients had significant injuries. In the 2020 study period, there were 24,295 patient presentations, of which 118 of 296 upper extremity presentations were significant. We a priori defined significant injury as follows: fractures, dislocations, neurovascular injuries, or need for operative intervention within 24 hours of ED presentation. Specifically, 25.2% of injuries were significant pre-COVID-19 and 39.9% (p < 0.001) during the initial COVID-19 surge. The absolute number and percentage of significant injuries increased from pre-COVID-19 compared to the initial COVID-19 surge despite an overall 22% decrease in total patient volume. Conclusion: The incidence of significant upper extremity musculoskeletal injuries increased during the pandemic even though the overall number of ED presentations for upper extremity musculoskeletal injuries decreased. Keywords: COVID-19, musculoskeletal complaints, emergency department presentation, upper extremity

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
We report on the measurement of $\rm{J}/\psi$ production in the dielectron channel at mid-rapidity (|y|<1) in p+p and d+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV from the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The transverse momentum $p_{T}$ spectra in p+p for $p_{T}$ < 4 GeV/c and d+Au collisions for $p_{T}$ < 3 GeV/c are presented. These measurements extend the STAR coverage for $\rm{J}/\psi$ production in p+p collisions to low $p_{T}$. The $
$ from the measured $\rm{J}/\psi$ invariant cross section in p+p and d+Au collisions are evaluated and compared to similar measurements at other collision energies. The nuclear modification factor for $\rm{J}/\psi$ is extracted as a function of $p_{T}$ and collision centrality in d+Au and compared to model calculations using the modified nuclear Parton Distribution Function and a final-state $\rm{J}/\psi$ nuclear absorption cross section. - Published

ObjectiveTo assess current practice, advise minimum standards, and identify educational gaps relevant to genetic screening, counseling, and testing of women affected by gynecologic cancers.MethodsThe Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) organized a multidisciplinary summit that included representatives from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the American Society Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC), and patient advocacy groups, BrightPink and Facing our Risk of Cancer Empowered (FORCE). Three subject areas were discussed: care delivery models for genetic testing, barriers to genetic testing, and educational opportunities for providers of genetic testing.ResultsThe group endorsed current SGO, National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), and NSGC genetic testing guidelines for women affected with ovarian, tubal, peritoneal cancers, or DNA mismatch repair deficient endometrial cancer. Three main areas of unmet need were identified: timely and universal genetic testing for women with ovarian, fallopian tube, and peritoneal cancers; education regarding minimum standards for genetic counseling and testing; and barriers to implementation of testing of both affected individuals as well as cascade testing of family members. Consensus building among all stakeholders resulted in an action plan to address gaps in education of gynecologic oncology providers and delivery of cancer genetics care.

- Abstract
RATIONALE: There is significant practice variation in acute paediatric asthma, particularly severe exacerbations. It is unknown whether this is due to differences in clinical guidelines. OBJECTIVES: To describe and compare the content and quality of clinical guidelines for the management of acute exacerbations of asthma in children between geographic regions. METHODS: Observational study of guidelines for the management of acute paediatric asthma from institutions across a global collaboration of six regional paediatric emergency research networks. MEASUREMENTS AND MAIN RESULTS: 158 guidelines were identified. Half provided recommendations for at least two age groups, and most guidelines provided treatment recommendations according to asthma severity. There were consistent recommendations for the use of inhaled short-acting beta-agonists and systemic corticosteroids. Inhaled anticholinergic therapy was recommended in most guidelines for severe and critical asthma, but there were inconsistent recommendations for its use in mild and moderate exacerbations. Other inhaled therapies such as helium-oxygen mixture (Heliox) and nebulised magnesium were inconsistently recommended for severe and critical illness.Parenteral bronchodilator therapy and epinephrine were mostly reserved for severe and critical asthma, with intravenous magnesium most recommended. There were regional differences in the use of other parenteral bronchodilators, particularly aminophylline.Guideline quality assessment identified high ratings for clarity of presentation, scope and purpose, but low ratings for stakeholder involvement, rigour of development, applicability and editorial independence. CONCLUSIONS: Current guidelines for the management of acute paediatric asthma exacerbations have substantial deficits in important quality domains and provide limited and inconsistent guidance for severe exacerbations.

- Abstract
In this paper, we assess the impact of the COVID‐19 pandemic on the Australian visual arts sector. We base our analysis on the responses of over 1500 visual artists and arts workers to a survey conducted by the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA), the national peak body for the visual and media arts, craft and design sector in September 2021. NAVA employed this online survey to study the relationship between the pandemic and both the incomes and mental health of artists and arts workers. Using regression analysis, we find that there has been a significant impact for both artists and arts workers, with the severity of the impacts varying by gender, age and the availability of state‐based and Australian Government support programmes. Reduced hours and loss of contracted work and commissions due to the pandemic were both related to declines in income and mental health outcomes for artists and for arts workers. Housing stress was associated with a higher likelihood of a significant or extreme mental health impact for artists and arts workers. In addition, artists' incomes and mental health outcomes were impacted when faced with a reduced ability to sell, although some artists were able to increase their online profiles.

Nuclear Experiment ,Nuclear Theory - Abstract
A study is reported of the same- and opposite-sign charge-dependent azimuthal correlations with respect to the event plane in Au+Au collisions at 200 GeV. The charge multiplicity asymmetries between the up/down and left/right hemispheres relative to the event plane are utilized. The contributions from statistical fluctuations and detector effects were subtracted from the (co-)variance of the observed charge multiplicity asymmetries. In the mid- to most-central collisions, the same- (opposite-) sign pairs are preferentially emitted in back-to-back (aligned on the same-side) directions. The charge separation across the event plane, measured by the difference, $\Delta$, between the like- and unlike-sign up/down $-$ left/right correlations, is largest near the event plane. The difference is found to be proportional to the event-by-event final-state particle ellipticity (via the observed second-order harmonic $v^{\rm obs}_{2}$), where $\Delta=(1.3\pm1.4({\rm stat})^{+4.0}_{-1.0}({\rm syst}))\times10^{-5}+(3.2\pm0.2({\rm stat})^{+0.4}_{-0.3}({\rm syst}))\times10^{-3}v^{\rm obs}_{2}$ for 20-40% Au+Au collisions. The implications for the proposed chiral magnetic effect are discussed., Comment: 27 pages, 25 figures, 2 tables

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
Previous experimental results based on data (15 million events) collected by the STAR detector at RHIC suggest event-by-event charge separation fluctuations perpendicular to the event plane in non-central heavy-ion collisions. Here we present the correlator previously used split into its two component parts to reveal correlations parallel and perpendicular to the event plane. The results are from a high statistics 200 GeV Au+Au collisions data set (57 million events) collected by the STAR experiment. We explicitly count units of charge separation from which we find clear evidence for more charge separation fluctuations perpendicular than parallel to the event plane. We also employ a modified correlator to study the possible P-even background in same and opposite charge correlations, and find that the P-even background may largely be explained by momentum conservation and collective motion., Comment: 10 pages, 9 figures

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
We present measurements of three-dimensional correlation functions of like-sign low transverse momentum kaon pairs from sqrt(sNN)=200 GeV Au+Au collisions. A Cartesian surface-spherical harmonic decomposition technique was used to extract the kaon source function. The latter was found to have a three-dimensional Gaussian shape and can be adequately reproduced by Therminator event generator simulations with resonance contributions taken into account. Compared to the pion one, the kaon source function is generally narrower and does not have the long tail along the pair transverse momentum direction. The kaon Gaussian radii display a monotonic decrease with increasing transverse mass m_T over the interval of 0.55<=m_T<=1.15 GeV/c^2. While the kaon radii are adequately described by the m_T-scaling in the outward and sideward directions, in the longitudinal direction the lowest m_T value exceeds the expectations from a pure hydrodynamical model prediction., Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
We present a study of the average transverse momentum ($p_t$) fluctuations and $p_t$ correlations for charged particles produced in Cu+Cu collisions at midrapidity for $\sqrt{s_{NN}} =$ 62.4 and 200 GeV. These results are compared with those published for Au+Au collisions at the same energies, to explore the system size dependence. In addition to the collision energy and system size dependence, the $p_t$ correlation results have been studied as functions of the collision centralities, the ranges in $p_t$, the pseudorapidity $\eta$, and the azimuthal angle $\phi$. The square root of the measured $p_t$ correlations when scaled by mean $p_t$ is found to be independent of both colliding beam energy and system size studied. Transport-based model calculations are found to have a better quantitative agreement with the measurements compared to models which incorporate only jetlike correlations., Comment: 12 pages and 9 figures. Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
Elliptic flow ($v_{2}$) values for identified particles at mid-rapidity in Au+Au collisions, measured by the STAR experiment in the Beam Energy Scan at RHIC at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=$ 7.7--62.4 GeV, are presented. A beam-energy dependent difference of the values of $v_{2}$ between particles and corresponding anti-particles was observed. The difference increases with decreasing beam energy and is larger for baryons compared to mesons. This implies that, at lower energies, particles and anti-particles are not consistent with the universal number-of-constituent-quark (NCQ) scaling of $v_{2}$ that was observed at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=$ 200 GeV.

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
Measurements of the elliptic flow, $v_{2}$, of identified hadrons ($\pi^{\pm}$, $K^{\pm}$, $K_{s}^{0}$, $p$, $\bar{p}$, $\phi$, $\Lambda$, $\bar{\Lambda}$, $\Xi^{-}$, $\bar{\Xi}^{+}$, $\Omega^{-}$, $\bar{\Omega}^{+}$) in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=$ 7.7, 11.5, 19.6, 27, 39 and 62.4 GeV are presented. The measurements were done at mid-rapidity using the Time Projection Chamber and the Time-of-Flight detectors of the STAR experiment during the Beam Energy Scan program at RHIC. A significant difference in the $v_{2}$ values for particles and the corresponding anti-particles was observed at all transverse momenta for the first time. The difference increases with decreasing center-of-mass energy, $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ (or increasing baryon chemical potential, $\mu_{B}$) and is larger for the baryons as compared to the mesons. This implies that particles and anti-particles are no longer consistent with the universal number-of-constituent quark (NCQ) scaling of $v_{2}$ that was observed at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=$ 200 GeV. However, for the group of particles NCQ scaling at $(m_{T}-m_{0})/n_{q}>$ 0.4 GeV/$c^{2}$ is not violated within $\pm$10%. The $v_{2}$ values for $\phi$ mesons at 7.7 and 11.5 GeV are approximately two standard deviations from the trend defined by the other hadrons at the highest measured $p_{T}$ values.

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
We report measurements of the third harmonic coefficient of the azimuthal anisotropy, v_3, known as triangular flow. The analysis is for charged particles in Au+Au collisions at sqrtsNN = 200 GeV, based on data from the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Two-particle correlations as a function of their pseudorapidity separation are fit with narrow and wide Gaussians. Measurements of triangular flow are extracted from the wide Gaussian, from two-particle cumulants with a pseudorapidity gap, and also from event plane analysis methods with a large pseudorapidity gap between the particles and the event plane. These results are reported as a function of transverse momentum and centrality. A large dependence on the pseudorapidity gap is found. Results are compared with other experiments and model calculations., Comment: 12 pages, 12 figures
