Since the scaling of transistors is growing rapidly, the need for an efficient alternative for the Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) technology to obtain further and extra processes in the circuits has been known as the main problem. Over the last decade, Quantum-dot Cellular Automata (QCA) technology has been recognized as a suitable replacement for CMOS technology due to its excellent potential in developing designs with low-power consumption, high speed, and high density. In this regard, lowering the number of gates, the amount of cell count, and delay has been emphasized in the design of QCA-based circuits. As the main unit in logic circuits and digital arithmetic, adders play an important role in constructing various effective QCA designs. In this regard, Ripple Carry Adder (RCA) is a simple form of adders and, due to its remarkable features, can be useful to reach circuits with the minimum required area and power consumption. Therefore, this study recommends a new design for RCA in QCA technology to reduce the cell count, amend the complexity, and decrease the latency. To verify the correctness of the suggested circuit, the QCADesigner-E version 2.0.3 as a well-known simulator has been used. The evaluation results confirm that the proposed design has approximately 28.6% improvement in cell count compared to the state-of-the-art four-bit coplanar RCA designs in QCA technology. In recent years, cloud manufacturing (CMfg) has been developed as an intelligent manufacturing system, in which geographically distributed manufacturing resources are available as services in the cloud platform. Choosing and integrating single services into a combined service to fulfill the client's requests requires higher emphasis. However, by increasing customers' trend to utilize CMfg, service providers are encouraged to publish services with various functional and non‐functional characteristics. Thus, service composition and optimal selection has become one of the most challenging topics in CMfg. Hence, an inclusive review of current studies on this NP‐hard issue is extremely desirable. This article first, selects the recent studies in the field of single‐objective service composition in CMfg and classifies and surveys them comprehensively in terms of QoS parameters, energy consumption, user constraint, and so forth. This article aims to provide a useful roadmap for future researchers who are intended to explore novel work in this field. The search for articles was conducted in November 2020. Quantum‐dot cellular automata (QCA) is one of the best methods to implement digital circuits at nanoscale. It has excellent potential with high density, fast switching speed, and low energy consumption. Researchers have emphasized reducing the number of gates, the delay, and the cell count in QCA technology. In addition, a ripple carry adder (RCA) is a circuit in which each full adder's carry‐out is the connection for the next full adder's carry‐in. These types of adders are quite simple and easily expandable to any desired size. However, they are relatively slow because carries may broadcast across the entire adder. Therefore, an RCA design on a nanoscale QCA is proposed to diminish the cell number, improve complexity, and decrease latency. The QCADesigner simulation tool is used to verify the correctness of the suggested circuit. The comparison results for the design indicate an approximately 49.14% improvement in cell number and 14.29% advantage in area for the state‐of‐the‐art 4‐bit RCA designs with QCA technology.
