Slow carbonization (SC) and fast carbonization (FC) methods were applied and compared during the preparation of carbon materials using potassium citrate as raw material. The porous carbon material obtained by the SC method (SCPC800) had a slightly higher specific surface area than that obtained by the FC method (FCPC800). When SCPC800 was applied in the construction of a zinc–ion capacitor (ZIC), the obtained ZIC displayed a high mass specific capacitance (MSC) value of 309.5 F g−1 and a specific energy of 155.2 Wh kg−1 at the 0.2 A g−1 current density. FCPC800 showed similar electrochemical performance as SCPC800. The ZIC with the FCPC800 as electrode exhibited an MSC value of 300.7 F g−1 with a specific energy of 150.8 Wh kg−1 at the 0.2 A g−1 current density. Meanwhile, the SCPC800 and FCPC800-based ZICs showed good rate capability and cycle stability. Compared with the SC method, the FC method showed a significant advantage in reducing sample preparation time, which can greatly increase the preparation efficiency and reduce energy consumption. Therefore, as an efficient method, the FC method showed broad application prospects in the preparation of carbon materials for ZIC. IMPROVING qualitative and quantitative traits of the onion (Allium cepa L.) plant, a strategic crop, is essential to meet increasing agricultural demands and enhance crop quality. The current study, conducted over two successive growing seasons (2022/23 and 2023/24), aimed to investigate the synergistic effects of elemental sulfur, various potassium supplements and methionine amino acid on the growth, yield and quality of onion plants. The experiment was arranged in a split-split plot design, as the main factor was the application of elemental sulfur (applied at a rate of 360 kg ha-1 or non-application). The sub-main factor involved different forms of potassium supplements applied as foliar sprays at rate of 750 mg K2O L-1 [Control (no potassium), potassium silicate (K2SiO3), potassium citrate (K3C6H5O7), potassium nitrate(KNO3)], while the sub-sub main factor included methionine amino acid, either sprayed at 100 mg L-1 or not sprayed. The results show that the application of elemental sulfur significantly improved onion performance regarding growth, quantitative and qualitative traits (e.g., fresh and dry weights, leaf area, chlorophyll a & b contents, bulb weight and diameter, marketable yield, total dissolved solids, dry matter, vitamin C and anthocyanin pigment) across measured parameters. Potassium silicate emerged as the most effective potassium supplement, followed by potassium citrate then potassium nitrate, and lately the control. Additionally, methionine application enhanced both the growth, yield and quality traits of onions. The combined application of elemental sulfur, potassium silicate, and methionine produced the highest values for growth, yield and quality attributes. Finally, it can be concluded that the usage of elemental sulfur, potassium supplements, particularly potassium silicate, and methionine is so beneficial to enhance the performance of onions. This integrated approach not only maximizes crop yield but also improves the quality of onions, offering a sustainable pathway to augment onion production. Background/Objectives: Uric acid stones are the second most common type of kidney stones worldwide. Despite being cost-effective and widely available, pharmacological management for these stones is less utilized compared to surgical approaches. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review of the literature to assess the efficacy and shortcomings of oral dissolution therapy for uric acid stones. Methods: Embase, Scopus, PubMed, and Cochrane library databases were searched for English language studies on adults who were diagnosed with uric acid kidney stones and treated with oral dissolution therapy. Results: Twelve studies met our inclusion criteria. Potassium citrate was the primary agent used for dissolution in 10 of the studies and demonstrated a 50% or higher success rate for complete dissolution of uric acid stones. Treatment time for successful dissolution varied, with an average of 3 months minimum and an average of 2.78 years maximum. Overall, 11 of the studies recommended that oral dissolution therapy should be used for either treatment or prevention of uric acid stones. Conclusions: The available evidence demonstrates benefit of oral dissolution therapy for patients with uric acid stones. However, future rigorous studies are required to determine the optimal treatment regimen.

This study was conducted during the 2021 and 2022 seasons to examine beneficial the positive effects of spraying potassium citrate and potassium acetate at 1.0 to 4.0 each % on the growth, yield and quality of Madjool date palms under the environmental conditions of the Red Sea Governorate. Spraying potassium citrate or potassium acetate three times (after the establishment of the the fruit, at the beginning of Kimri stage and in the Khelal stages) from 1.0 to 4.0% had announced promotion in all growth characteristics, yield, and fruit quality relative to the control treatments. A gradual promotion depended on increasing the concentration of each from 1.0 to 4.0% without considerable effect among the two concentrations. In this regard, the spraying of potassium acetate was significantly superior to the use of potassium citrate. The best results were obtained when potassium acetate (a source of potassium) was applied three times to Madjool date palms at 2.0%.

Abstract The objective is to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality, controlling CO2 emissions is a primary problem to be solved in the current environmental protection field. Eliminating the environmental pollution of dyes in industrial wastewater is also an urgent problem to be solved in the field of environmental protection. The adsorption technique is an effective way to deal with these two issues. Developing high-efficiency adsorbents is an essential work in the adsorption field. In this work, a simple carbonization method has been developed to prepare porous carbon. The morphology and structure of the prepared porous carbon were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and surface area measurement. By studying the influence of preparation conditions on the structure and properties of the prepared carbon materials, it was found that the carbon materials prepared at 900 ℃ (PCMCA-900) exhibited a high specific surface area of 1476 m2 g−1 and a high total pore volume of 0.951 cm3 g−1. The PCMCA-900 showed the highest CO2 uptake of 7.67 mmol g−1 at 0 ºC and the adsorption capacity of PCMCA-900 decreased by less than 5% after 10 times recycling. Moreover, when PCMCA-900 was used as an adsorbent to remove Congo red in water, an adsorption capacity of 652.3 mg g−1 was achieved. Therefore, potassium citrate-derived porous carbon is a desirable candidate for excellent CO2 adsorption and Congo red in industrial wastewater.
