Objective:To report involvement of the central nervous system (CNS) following epithelial ovarian cancer is rare. Advances in management of ovarian cancer by use of primary surgery including abdominal hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo'oophorectomy should attain as complete a cytoreduction as possible and effective platinum-based chemotherapy have prolonged survival. Case report:We present a case involving a 35-year-old Iranian woman diagnosed and treated for primary ovarian cancer in 2002. She underwent optimal cytoreductive surgery and chemotherapy treatment. Eight months after the initiation of therapy, multiple brain metastases without intraperitoneal lesions were found and treated with combination chemotherapy and whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT), without evidence of recurrent disease. The patient died from disease in December 2005. Conclusion:In a patient suffering from neoplasm that rarely metastasizes to CNS, a careful clinical examination and proper therapeutic approach including chemotherapy may lead to prolong survival.

Background: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a global health challenge, with a rising rate in line with other metabolic diseases. We aimed to assess the global prevalence of NAFLD in adult and pediatric populations., Methods: PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science databases were systematically searched up to May 2023. Heterogeneity was assessed using Cochran's Q test and I 2 statistics, and random-effects model was used for meta-analysis. Analyses were performed using STATA version 18., Results: A total of 479 studies with 78,001,755 participants from 38 countries were finally included. The global prevalence of NAFLD was estimated to be 30.2% (95% CI: 28.7-31.7%). Regionally, the prevalence of NAFLD was as follows: Asia 30.9% (95% CI: 29.2-32.6%), Australia 16.1% (95% CI: 9.0-24.8%), Europe 30.2% (95% CI: 25.6-35.0%), North America 29% (95% CI: 25.8-32.3%), and South America 34% (95% CI: 16.9-53.5%). Countries with a higher human development index (HDI) had significantly lower prevalence of NAFLD (coefficient = -0.523, p = 0.005). Globally, the prevalence of NAFLD in men and women was 36.6% (95% CI: 34.7-38.4%) and 25.5% (95% CI: 23.9-27.1%), respectively. The prevalence of NAFLD in adults, adults with obesity, children, and children with obesity was 30.2% (95% CI: 28.8-31.7%), 57.5% (95% CI: 43.6-70.9%), 14.3% (95% CI: 10.3-18.8%), and 38.0% (95% CI: 31.5-44.7%), respectively., Conclusion: The prevalence of NAFLD is remarkably high, particularly in countries with lower HDI. The third most frequent reason for hospitalized acute kidney injury is contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN). Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and coronary angiography (CAG) are two interventions that can result in CIN. In this study, we sought to determine how well gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) can predict CIN following CAG and PCI., Method: Two researchers searched through PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science in November 2022 to find articles that examined GGT levels in CIN patients following PCI or CAG. To rate the quality of the studies, the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Checklist was employed. The Cochran test and I 2 statistics were utilized to assess study heterogeneity. To calculate the number of participants required to reject the null hypothesis, power analysis was used. We evaluated the epidemiologic strength of the results using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE). The authors used Comprehensive Meta-analysis Version 3 to summarize the results., Results: GGT was shown to be considerably greater in patients with CIN according to the meta-analysis's findings (odds ratio: 3.21, 95% CI: 1.26-8.15, P =0.014); nevertheless, the findings were accompanied by significant heterogeneity (I 2 =91.93%, P <0.001). Although the relationship between CIN and GGT was power full regarding power analysis (1- β =1, number of effect sizes=4, the average number per group=336), very low quality of evidence was observed regarding GRADE criteria., Conclusions: These results suggest the GGT level may be a predictor of contrast-induced nephropathy in patients having cardiac catheterization; however, more research is required to prove the epidemiological validity., Competing Interests: The authors declare that they have no financial conflict of interest with regard to the content of this report., (Copyright © 2023 The Author(s). Background: Despite the importance of hamstring tendon autograft, one major disadvantage in applying this technique in the surgical reconstruction of anterior cruciate ligament is individual variability in the tendon diameter. Hence, the purpose of the present study was to use anthropometric parameters such as gender, height and body mass index to predict 4-strand (quadruple) hamstring tendons (gracilis and 2-strand semitendinosus tendons)., Methods: This is a cross-sectional study conducted on all consecutive patients who underwent arthroscopic ACL reconstruction between 2013 and 2015. The anthropometric variables (age, gender, height, and body mass index) were recorded. The quadruple hamstring tendon (gracilis and semitendinosus) autografts were measured using sizing cylinders. The relationship between these parameters was statistically determined using the Pearson Spearman test and linear regression test., Results: The mean age of the 178 patients eligible for the study was 29.58±9.93 (118 males and 60 females). The mean hamstring tendon diameter was 7.8±0.7 mm, the mean for males was 7.9±0.6 and for females 7.8±9 mm ( P =0.0001). There were significant correlations between the mean hamstring tendon diameter with BMI (Pearson correlation=0.375, R 2 =0.380, and P =0.0001), height (Pearson correlation=0.441, R 2 =0.121, and P =0.0001), and weight (Pearson correlation=0.528, R 2 = -0.104 and P =0.0001). However, patient's age and genderwerenot found to be a predictor of the size of the hamstring tendon diameter., Conclusion: Based on findings from this study weight, height, body mass index, and the length of the tendon may be predictors of the hamstring tendon diameter for anterior cruciate ligamentreconstruction. These findings could be used in preoperative planning of patients undergoing ACL reconstruction surgery to estimate the size of the graft and select of the appropriate type of graft.
