According to the demographic transition theory; the demographic transition process is from the traditional demographic regime to the modern demographic regime. In other words, there is a transition from a state of high birth and death rates to a new state of low birth and death rates. The demographic transition process has stages. These stages can changeable from three to five. In some studies, the stages that make up the transition process are three; in some studies, they are four; in others, they are five. On this occasion, it has been determined that the stages of the demographic transition are numbered and dated differently in the studies on Turkey. For example, there are studies stating that the population of Turkey will be approximately 95 million in the 2050s and that it will complete the third phase. But as time passed, first the fourth and then the fifth stage were added to the demographic transition process. In this case, the need to make new explanations according to the five-stage transition and to give the end date of the third stage arose for Turkey. In this study, it was aimed to determine the demographic transition in Turkey according to the relatively new five-stage model. moreover the reasons for the differences in studies examining Turkey's demographic transition were determined. Thus, a different classification was made from previous studies, and the stage of the country was determined by using quantitative data. For this purpose, belonging to geography; description, interaction and quantitative methods and principles were used. Data for the period 1923-1950 were drawn from studies that made country-specific estimates. After 1955, it was compiled from DIE (State Institute of Statistics), TUIK (Turkish Statistical Institute), UN (United Nations), HÜNEE (Hacettepe University Institute of Population Studies) etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
