L’ús del vehicle elèctric ha d’esdevenir clau per aconseguir assolir una descarbonització energètica de la mobilitat. L’increment d’ús d’aquest representa un repte important a causa de les necessitats elèctriques que aquests necessiten. El present treball analitza els potencials beneficis que la recàrrega del vehicle mitjançant carregadors bidireccionals (V2G) pot proporcionar a l’operador d’una estació de recàrrega. Aquests beneficis poden originar-se per la flexibilitat que aquests vehicles poden donar en moments de congestió de la xarxa elèctrica. En aquest treball s’analitza quina és la potencial flexibilitat que els vehicles elèctrics poden proporcionar tot proposant un model de programació estocàstica en dues etapes. Els escenaris d’aquest model han estat generats mitjançant xarxes neuronals LSTM híbrides. Els resultats demostren que l’ús dels vehicles elèctrics per a proporcionar flexibilitat, des d’un punt de vista en la demanda, permet reduir els costos de recàrrega dels vehicles elèctrics fins a un 70%. A part altres beneficis indirectes en són identificats com ara alliberar a la xarxa elèctrica en moments de congestió., El uso del vehículo eléctrico ha de convertirse en un factor clave para alcanzar la descarbonización energética de la movilidad. Estos beneficios pueden originarse por la flexibilidad que estos vehículos pueden dar en momentos de congestión de la red eléctrica. EN este trabajo se analiza cual es la potencial flexibilidad que los vehículos eléctricos pueden proporcionar. Ello se consigue proponiendo un modelo estocástico en dos etapas. Los escenarios del modelo estocástico son generados mediante redes neuronales LSTM híbridas. Los resultados demuestran que el uso de los vehículos eléctricos para proporcionar flexibilidad, des de un punto de vista de la demanda, periten reducir los costes de recarga de los vehículos hasta un 70%. However, the increase in electric vehicles, implies high needs of electrical consumption. This Master’s thesis analyses the potential benefits that vehicle recharging through bidirectional (V2G) chargers can provide to the recharger station operator. These benefits may have their origin in the flexibility that these vehicles can offer in times of grid congestion. In this work, it's analyzed what is the potential flexibility that electric vehicles can provide by proposing a two-stage stochastic programming model. The scenarios of this model have been generated by using LSTM hybrid neural network for each charger simulated. The results show that the use of electric vehicles helps to provide demand flexibility, allows reducing charging costs up to 70%. And helps to lighten the power grid in times of congestion due to lower generation or high demand.

Understanding the characteristics and conditions that make non-indigenous species (NIS) successful at establishing in recipient communities is a key in determining their potential impacts on native species, as well as to improve management actions such as prevention of future invasions. The round goby (Neogobius melanostomus) is one of the most widespread non-indigenous fish species in the Northern Hemisphere, including the coastal zones of the Baltic Sea. The impacts of round goby in the Baltic Sea are pronounced and multifaceted, yet our knowledge regarding the underlying assembly processes determining its establishment is limited. To overcome this knowledge gap, we applied a trait-based approach to assess the degree of niche overlap and functional (trait) similarity between round goby and native fish species in coastal areas from the Baltic Sea, based on the functional distinctiveness metric. Our results show that round goby is generally quite similar (or not dissimilar) to the native fish of the regional species pool, at least in terms of its overall trait composition. Conversely, round goby demonstrates pronounced differences compared to the native community in its display of parental care and territorial behaviour. Such differences in individual traits could play an important role in round goby’s invasion success in the Baltic Sea, including its interactions with native species (e.g. competition). Our results and their potential implications may be highly relevant for conservation and management if integrated within existing risk assessment tools for biological invasions in order to prioritise and enhance the effectiveness of preventative actions towards the expansion of round goby.

Our understanding of the community assembly processes acting on non-indigenous species (NIS), as well as the relationship with native species is limited, especially in marine ecosystems. To overcome this knowledge gap we here develop a trait-based approach based on the functional distinctiveness metric to assess niche overlap between NIS and native species, using high-resolution data on benthic invertebrate communities in the Baltic Sea. Our results show that NIS retain a certain degree of similarity with native species, but display one or a few singular unique traits (e.g., bioturbation ability). Furthermore, we demonstrate that community assembly processes, including both environmental filtering and limiting similarity affect NIS establishment, but that their effects may be highly context dependent, as illustrated by pronounced spatial patterns in distinctiveness. Finally, our trait-based approach provides a generic framework applicable to other areas and organisms, to better understand and address biological invasions.

[eng] Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, with more than 700 cases diagnosed each year in the Balearic Islands. There is extensive evidence that lifestyle factors, such as diet and physical activity, may be associated with the onset of tumourassociated malnutrition, but also with prognosis, mortality and relapse. At the same time, evidence suggests that nutrition strategies are often insufficient or non-existent due to lack of resources or infrastructure. The aim of this protocol is to analyse lifestyle factors, such as dietary habits, physical activity and quality of life, in women treated for breast cancer in the Balearic Islands, as well as to evaluate their need of nutritional support. The project proposed consists of a descriptive cross-sectional study in women treated for breast cancer with chemotherapy. The recruitment procedure will be performed in public and private hospitals (n=200) and will comply with current ethical standards and regulations. The strength of this proposal is to establish an objective perspective of the current state of nutritional care for breast cancer patients in the Balearic healthcare system, enabling improved future interventions in women treated for breast cancer but also in other oncologic patients., [spa] El cáncer de mama es el cáncer más común entre las mujeres, con más de 700 casos diagnosticados cada año en Baleares. Existe amplia evidencia de que los factores del estilo de vida, como la dieta y la actividad física, pueden estar asociados con la aparición de desnutrición asociada al cáncer, pero también con el pronóstico, la mortalidad y la recaída. Al mismo tiempo, la evidencia sugiere que las estrategias de nutrición a menudo son insuficientes o inexistentes debido a la falta de recursos o infraestructura. El presente protocolo tiene como objetivo analizar los factores relacionados con el estilo de vida, como los hábitos alimentarios, la actividad física y la calidad de vida, en mujeres tratadas por cáncer de mama en Baleares, así como evaluar su necesidad de apoyo nutricional. El proyecto propuesto consiste en un estudio descriptivo transversal en mujeres tratadas por cáncer de mama con quimioterapia. El procedimiento de reclutamiento se realizará en hospitales públicos y privados (n=200) y cumplirá con las normas y estándares éticos vigentes. La fuerza de esta propuesta es establecer una perspectiva objetiva del estado actual de la nutrición en el sistema sanitario balear, que permita futuras intervenciones en mujeres tratadas por cáncer de mama, pero también en otros pacientes oncológicos.

Changes in the distribution of coastal macrophytes in Greenland, and elsewhere in the Arctic are difficult to quantify as the region remains challenging to access and monitor. Satellite imagery, in particular Sentinel-2 (S2), may enable large-scale monitoring of coastal areas in Greenland but its use is impacted by the optically complex environments and the scarcity of supporting data in the region. Additionally, the canopies of the dominant macrophyte species in Greenland do not extend to the sea surface, limiting the use of indices that exploit the reflection of near-infrared radiation by vegetation due to its absorption by seawater. Three hypotheses are tested: I) 10-m S2 imagery and commonly used detection methods can identify intertidal macrophytes that are exposed at low tide in an optically complex fjord system in Greenland impacted by marine and land terminating glaciers; II) detached and floating macrophytes accumulate in patches that are sufficiently large to be detected by 10-m S2 images; III) iceberg scour and/or turbid meltwater runoff shape the spatial distribution of intertidal macroalgae in fjord systems with marine-terminating glaciers. The NDVI produced the best results in optically complex fjord systems in Greenland. 12 km2 of exposed intertidal macrophytes were identified in the study area at low tide. Floating mats of macrophytes ranged in area from 400 m2 to 326,800 m2 and were most common at the mouth of the fjord. Icebergs and turbidity appear to play a role in structuring the distribution of intertidal macrophytes and the retreat of marine terminating glaciers could allow macrophytes cover to expand. The challenges and solutions presented here apply to most fjords in Greenland and, therefore, the methodology may be extended to produce a Greenland-wide estimate of intertidal macrophytes.

[cat] Un ús abusiu del telèfon mòbil pot repercutir en el benestar físic, psicològic i social de les persones. L’auge ràpid de les noves tecnologies a escala global i la situació de pandèmia viscuda a conseqüència de la COVID-19, amb importants repercussions tant socials, sanitàries i econòmiques, fan que l’objectiu d’aquest estudi se centri a determinar la relació entre l’estil de vida, el benestar psicològic i l’ús del telèfon intel·ligent en la comunitat universitària des de la perspectiva de la situació que ha provocat la pandèmia del SARS-CoV-2. La mostra d’aquest estudi està composta per estudiants de grau o postgrau de la Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB). El qüestionari està format per diversos instruments validats, així com preguntes d’elaboració pròpia per obtenir informació específica de l’ús del telèfon mòbil, l’estil de vida i el benestar psicològic. S’han analitzat les respostes de 2.173 participants, el 66,2 % dels quals han estat dones, amb una edat mitjana de 22 anys (desviació estàndard de 5,5 anys). Entre les conclusions destaquen que un 20,5 % té excés de pes o obesitat i un 61,9 % presenta baixa adherència a la dieta mediterrània. L’estat de salut i la qualitat de vida de l’alumnat ha empitjorat per la pandèmia. Un 1,5 % fuma de manera habitual i només un 23 % no beu alcohol. La majoria dels estudiants presenten un suport social adequat. Quant a l’ús del mòbil, les dones en fan un ús de més risc (11,2 %) i un ús més problemàtic (15,8 %) que els homes (7,7 % i 14,2 % respectivament)., [spa] Un uso abusivo del teléfono móvil puede repercutir en el bienestar físico, psicológico y social de las personas. El rápido auge de las nuevas tecnologías a nivel global y la situación de pandemia vivida como consecuencia de la COVID- 19, con importantes repercusiones tanto sociales, como sanitarias y económicas, hacen que el objetivo de este estudio se centre en determinar la relación entre el estilo de vida, el bienestar psicológico y el uso del teléfono inteligente en la comunidad universitaria desde la perspectiva situacional de la pandemia del SARS-CoV-2. La muestra de este estudio está compuesta por estudiantes de grado o posgrado de la Universidad de las Illes Balears (UIB). El cuestionario está formado por diversos instrumentos validados, así como preguntas de elaboración propia para obtener información específica del teléfono móvil, el estilo de vida y el bienestar psicológico. Se han analizado las respuestas de 2.173 participantes, de los que el 66,2 % han sido mujeres, con una edad media de 22 años (desviación estándar de 5,5 años). Entre las conclusiones destacan que un 20,5 % tiene sobrepeso u obesidad y un 61,9 % presenta baja adherencia a la dieta mediterránea.
