The TRIPLE project intends to address the challenges of the fragmented and heterogeneous landscape of Social Sciences and Humanities, hereafter SSH, research outputs��� dissemination by providing a single yet flexible architecture able to collect data from many sources. Enabling the data ingestion from different data models, the architecture relies itself on an ontology which ensures a better discoverability for SSH scholarly resources and their connection with projects and profiles. The proposed architecture aims at enabling both a broader collection of data, and a uniform quality level between these through the use of a single data model. In order to do so, the architecture distinguishes two main roles, the TRIPLE���s Aggregator, and the TRIPLE���s Provider. The Aggregator is the contact point between the Provider and TRIPLE, and takes charge of the mapping between its own data and the TRIPLE data model. This architecture thus ensures that the discovery platform will provide a large coverage of existing SSH scholarly resources, with Aggregators providing, where necessary, the useful support to its own Providers. This document is intended as a beta version of the public document that will provide guidelines to the TRIPLE���s data providers. The final public guidelines will be a mix of this document and of the Data acquisition plan. © 2020 Austin CC et al. The systemic challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic require cross-disciplinary collaboration in a global and timely fashion. Such collaboration needs open research practices and the sharing of research outputs, such as data and code, thereby facilitating research and research reproducibility and timely collaboration beyond borders. The Research Data Alliance COVID-19 Working Group recently published a set of recommendations and guidelines on data sharing and related best practices for COVID-19 research. These guidelines include recommendations for researchers, policymakers, funders, publishers and infrastructure providers from the perspective of different domains (Clinical Medicine, Omics, Epidemiology, Social Sciences, Community Participation, Indigenous Peoples, Research Software, Legal and Ethical Considerations). Several overarching themes have emerged from this document such as the need to balance the creation of data adherent to FAIR principles (findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable), with the need for quick data release; the use of trustworthy research data repositories; the use of well-annotated data with meaningful metadata; and practices of documenting methods and software. The resulting document marks an unprecedented cross-disciplinary, cross-sectoral, and cross-jurisdictional effort authored by over 160 experts from around the globe. This letter summarises key points of the Recommendations and Guidelines, highlights the relevant findings, shines a spotlight on the process, and suggests how these developments can be leveraged by the wider scientific community.

This report describes the Data Acquisition Plan (DAP) with technical specifications to be implemented in order to collect metadata about the research outputs from Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) in 9 languages and to make them available through the future TRIPLE platform. To reach this objective, the DAP, strategic step of the TRIPLE Core, defines the process of collecting metadata until their exposition in the TRIPLE database through a two-fold approach: 1) Metadata provision by processing chains of aggregation platforms and 2) Semantic enrichment and resource linking by the TRIPLE pipeline. A delivery platform will be the communication interface between both processes. As a first phase, metadata are collected by aggregation platforms which are part of the consortium such as ISIDORE or CESSDA (and others out of the consortium like OpenAIRE, NARCIS etc.) and dropped on the delivery platform. To collect and expose their metadata, these platforms use generic processing chains called BUILD. In accordance with the TRIPLE recommendations and with their agreement, the BUILD chains will deliver selected metadata on a delivery platform, under the monitoring of the OPERAS Scientific Advisory Committee. This implies that the TRIPLE project creates a model, called TRIPLE data model, that the aggregation platforms might align with to be compliant with the TRIPLE platform. To start the project, the ISIDORE platform, developed by the coordinator of the TRIPLE project, had been chosen to be the first source of metadata, by using its processing chain ���BUILD-I���, as indicated in the proposal. In the long run, to reach a satisfying level of exhaustivity, other BUILD chains will be added to cover the maximum of resources available in the whole SSH community worldwide. In a second phase, by a connexion to the delivery platform, the TRIPLE pipeline will be able to collect, enrich and link the metadata corresponding to the 3 types of resources targeted by the project: 1) Research documents (publications and datasets), 2) Research projects and 3) Researcher profiles. The semantic enrichment will imply the creation of a TRIPLE thesaurus to align the vocabularies in the 9 languages. International audience; This paper comprises an attempt to create information visualizations for the Public Library of Veria city, Greece based on library data. Specifically, it is a formative study about the use of a visualization tool for analysing library data. The goal of this study is to make suggestions for the presentation of the public library’s data in order to be more accessible and understandable by the users and the librarians. The data were provided by the Library and the data types that were used were selected after a thorough consultation with the library staff. Consideration was given to the availability of data. The study employed information visualization techniques to create the visual displays of the data. Visualizations were created using the Tableau Public software in an effort to provide a quantitative, analytical, and evidence-based view of how libraries could manage their data. The study also aimed to gather any additional potential uses of visualizations that can be exploited by the libraries in the future. The current research was conducted in a single public library, thus further research in different, expanded settings and contexts is suggested.

The ways in which research data is used and handled continue to capture public attention and are the focus of increasing interest. Electronic publishing is intrinsic to digital data management, and relevant to the fields of data mining, digital publishing and social networks, with their implications for scholarly communication, information services, e-learning, e-business and the cultural heritage sector. This book presents the proceedings of the 18th International Conference on Electronic Publishing (ELPUB), held in Thessaloniki, Greece, in June 2014. The conference brings together researchers and practitioners to discuss the many aspects of electronic publishing, and the theme in 2014 is 'Let's put data to use: digital scholarship for the next generation'. As well as examining the role of cultural heritage and service organisations in the creation, accessibility, duration and long-term preservation of data. It also provides a discussion forum for the appraisal, citation and licensing of research data and the new developments in reviewing, publishing and editorial technology. The book is divided into sections covering the following topics: open access and open data; knowing the users better; researchers and their needs; specialized content for researchers; publishing and access; and practical aspects of electronic publishing. Providing an overview of all that is current in the electronic publishing world, this book will be of interest to practitioners, researchers and students in information science, as well as users of electronic publishing.

Reference librarians have the opportunity to interact with patrons and colleagues of many different backgrounds, languages, and cultures as a result of our increasingly interconnected and peripatetic world. In order to provide the best possible service to these varied communities, reference librarians should understand some of the culture differences that exist across countries, and in particular, the differences in the way that reference services are conceived and delivered in different countries. This study explores some of these differences in reference services by surveying current practitioners in thirteen countries to find out which competencies they believe are most important for academic reference librarians right now, and in the near future. The results of this study highlight some important commonalities and differences, and could help reference librarians to manage and meet the expectations of their international patrons, and perhaps help them to prepare for an international job experience of their own. Academic reference librarians may be interested to see the extent to which their counterparts in other countries face similar challenges and expectations with regard to delivering reference services. Teaching faculty in library science programs will be interested to understand reference competencies and expectations in other countries, especially as they teach greater numbers of international students or consider collaborating with international colleagues. In addition, an international understanding is important in developing students who can compete in a global job market.

The StORe project (http://jiscstore.jot.com/WikiHome) is a collaboration of seven universities across the UK and the Johns Hopkins University in the USA and under funding from the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC, http://www.jisc.ac.uk/). The project sought to develop new ways of linking academic publications with repositories of research data. Within the scope of the StORe project, an online questionnaire survey was launched on the 13th March and ran until 21st April 2006, aiming to gain some understanding about how repositories can be used to support research and scholarly communication and to invite researchers to provide feedback about their use of source and output repositories and their expectations for their future development. In addition to the questionnaire survey, academic staff and postgraduate research students were interviewed in order to gain a deeper insight into their research methods. This report presents the findings from this online questionnaire survey and from interviews with academic staff and postgraduate research students in the domain of chemistry.
