1. Modelling the Vibration-Rotation Energy Levels of D218O molecule with Effective Hamiltonian Method

Abstract

Using the effective rotational Hamiltonian method, we have conducted an analysis of the D218O ground and the first excited vibration state rotational energy levels. The analysis was based on the effective Hamiltonians represented in several forms: the Watson Hamiltonian, the Hamiltonian expressed in terms of Pad\'e-Borel approximants, and the Hamiltonian in terms of generating function expansions. The rotational and centrifugal constants have been determined from the fitting, which describe the rotational energy levels with an accuracy close to that of the experimental data. The predictive performance of the model with respect to highly excited rotational states has been evaluated against the global variation calculations. 2. Simulation of the Rotational Sublevels of the Ground and the First Excited Vibrational States of H2S Using Resummation Methods

Abstract

The rotational sublevels of the key (000) and (010) vibrational states of the H2S molecule were modeled with an accuracy close to experimental uncertainty using the generating function and Euler approaches. The predictive ability of the Hamiltonian parameters derived is tested against variational calculations. Comparison of transitions wavenumbers obtained from the presently calculated set of the H2S (000) and (010) energy levels with simulated (000)-(000), (010)-(010) transitions included in HITRAN 2016 database revealed a large discrepancy up to 44 cm-1. Abstract

A polarization technique based on measurements of intensities of the polarized I(parallel) and crosspolarized I(perpendicular) components of scattered radiation is often used in lidar studies of aerosols. The ratio I(perp)/I(para) is related to nonsphericity of scattering particles and it is often called, though unjustified, depolarization. Correct definition of the term has previously been shown to be the value d = 1 - P, where P is the degree of polarization defined in terms of the Stokes parameters. In fact, measurements of I(para) and I(perp) enable one to determine the Stokes parameter Q = I(para) - I(perp), and under the condition U = V = 0 the depolarization is determined by the relationship d = 2 x I(perp)/(I(para) + I(perp)). In 1988 a new cycle of measuring the Stokes parameters of lidar returns from scattering media irradiated with a linearly polarized light was started. Based on the lidar data obtained during the 1988-1990 period, a classification of scattering ensembles was made which reveals five types of the scattering particle ensembles differing by a combination of the Stokes parameters. In the 1990-1991 period, a cycle of measurements of the lidar returns' Stokes parameters was carried out using sounding radiation.

Abstract

44 325 measured and assigned transitions of H₂³²S, the parent isotopologue of the hydrogen sulfide molecule, are collated from 33 publications into a single database and reviewed critically. Based on this information, rotation-vibration energy levels are determined for the ground electronic state using the Measured Active Rotational-Vibrational Energy Levels (Marvel) technique. The ortho and para principal components of the measured spectroscopic network of H₂³²S are considered separately. The verified set of 25 293 ortho-- and 18 778 para- H₂³²S transitions determine 3969 ortho and 3467 para energy levels. The Marvel results are compared with alternative data compilations, including a theoretical variational linelist.

12. LED-Based Fourier-Transform Spectroscopy: HD16O Absorption Spectrum in 0.6-μm Spectral Region.

Abstract

A high-resolution vibrational-rotational absorption spectrum of НD16О molecule has been studied in the visible region from 16 600 to 17 400 cm–1 using LED-based Fourier-transform spectroscopy. The spectrum was recorded using a IFS-125M Fourier-transform spectrometer with a resolution of 0.09 cm−1. A high-brightness 3HP LED was used as a source of radiation. For the measurements, we used a White-type multipass cell with an optical path length of 2880 cm. The spectral line parameters (line centers and intensities) were derived from the spectral analysis. The linelist contains more than 300 transitions to (005) and (104) vibrational states. The results obtained have been compared with the calculated and experimental data of other authors. Abstract

International audience; This paper describes the status of the 2012 edition of the HITRAN molecular spectroscopic compilation. The new edition replaces the previous HITRAN edition of 2008 and its updates during the intervening years. The HITRAN molecular absorption compilation is comprised of six major components structured into folders that are freely accessible on the internet. These folders consist of the traditional line-by-line spectroscopic parameters required for high-resolution radiative-transfer codes, infrared absorption cross-sections for molecules not yet amenable to representation in a line-by-line form, ultraviolet spectroscopic parameters, aerosol indices of refraction, collision-induced absorption data, and general tables such as partition sums that apply globally to the data. The new HITRAN is greatly extended in terms of accuracy, spectral coverage, additional absorption phenomena, and validity. Molecules and isotopologues have been added that address the issues of atmospheres beyond the Earth. Also discussed is a new initiative that casts HITRAN into a relational database format that offers many advantages over the long-standing sequential text-based structure that has existed since the initial release of HITRAN in the early 1970s.

14. Study of the Water Vapor Absorption Spectrum in the Visible Spectral Region from 19480 to 20500 cm−1.

Abstract

The vibrational-rotational absorption spectrum of water vapor was recorded and analyzed in the visible spectral region from 19480 to 20500 cm−1. The measurements were carried out using an IFS-125M Fourier spectrometer with a resolution of 0.05 cm−1 at a pressure of 26.3 mbar, a temperature of (24 ± 1)°C, and optical path 24 m. We used a multipass White cell with a base length of 60 cm. A light-emitting diode was used as a radiation source. The signal-to-noise ratio was about 20000. The list of more than 420 lines has been compiled as a result of the analysis the spectrum, which includes line centers, intensities, and quantum vibrational-rotational numbers. More than 220 vibrational-rotational energy levels of 21 upper vibrational states have been determined from the experimental data. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
