Incorrect designed workingenvironment is one of the most important reasons of occupational accidents andinjuries in industrial production. Performance of workers directly effect onthe work productivity in furniture production as a labor-intensive sector. Oneof the units where the employees spend too much effort is the assemblydepartment in this sector. Despite how much the technological equipment isdeveloped, furniture assembly cannot be made without human factors in afactory. In this study, assemblyline of a large sized furniture factory located in Denizli isinvestigated. At the beginning of the study, working conditions of thefactory are examined from an ergonomic point of view and four differentrepetitive labor intensive assembly stations, i.e., drawer assembly, frame-boxassembly, final assembly and assembly control are determined. Data arecollected with video record method to determine loadings and strains in workpostures of the workers in assembly lines and OWAS method (Working PostureAnalysis System) is used to evaluate the data. As a result of theevaluations, it is determined that the incompatibility with the workingenvironment and the worker was very high in the final assembly and assemblycontrol stations and the employees too much repeat the operations with highrisk levels., Endüstriyelüretimde iş kazaları ve yaralanmaların en önemli nedenlerinden biri hatalıtasarlanmış çalışma ortamlarıdır. Buçalışmada; Denizli’de faaliyet gösteren büyük ölçekli bir işletmenin montajhattı incelenmiştir. Araştırma öncesinde, işletmenin çalışma koşullarıergonomik açıdan incelenmiş ve tekrarlı iş yükünün yoğun olduğu çekmece montajı, iskelet – kutu montaj, sonmontaj ve montaj kontrol olmak üzere 4 farklı montaj alanı belirlenmiştir.Montaj hattında çalışan işçilerin beden duruşlarını ve işe bağlı zorlanmalarınıbelirlemek için görüntüleme yöntemi ile veriler kaydedilmiş, veriler OWASyöntemi (Ovako Working Posture AnalysisSystem) ile değerlendirilmiştir. Değerlendirmeler sonucunda; son montaj vemontaj kontrol istasyonlarında çalışma ortamı ve iş-çalışan uyumsuzluğununfazla olduğu, risk düzeyi yüksek tekrarlı hareketlerin çok fazla yapıldığıbelirlenmiştir.

Recycling is very important especially for hazardous materials considering their negative impacts on the environment. Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is generally classified under hazardous waste. Determination of process methods and quantities of WEEE to be processed is significantly important since it enables the efficient operation and management of recycling systems. The presence of uncertainty in these systems requires to develop appropriate decision-making tools to deal with uncertain parameters in recycling-operation planning problems. In this study, we propose a linear programming (LP) model for multi-period operation planning for recycling of WEEE considering fuzzy parameters: demand, quantity of WEEE to be processed, operational capacity of resources, amount of output obtained from WEEE and processing times. The model aims to maximize the total profit by determining the best recycling strategies and types, quantity and stocks of WEEE to be recycled during the planning term. The solution method is based on ranking methods of fuzzy numbers through the comparison of their expected intervals. The proposed LP model is illustrated using a case study with experimental analysis. The findings indicated that the nature of fuzzy parameters have critical effect on the total cost and the total revenue at different levels. The results also show that the uncertainty in recycling of WEEE is a crucial factor in developing consistent plans to achieve the economic sustainability of recycling facilities. Recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is crucially important since it handles hazardous waste according to ever tightening laws and regulations and it adds benefits to economy and sustainable environment. Disassembly is one of the most important processes performed during the recovery of WEEE. The overall goal of disassembly is to maximize the retrieval of various metals and plastics contained in WEEE in order to reduce their negative effects on human health and environmental sustainability and to increase economic gains. This study aims to evaluate alternative layout configurations for WEEE disassembly systems (WDS). In this context, various configurations were compared in terms of pre-defined performance criteria, such as the total number of disassembled WEEE and the total revenue from sales, using simulation models. The results of this study show that the performance of a WDS was significantly affected by output transfer systems along with the specialization of operators on certain types of WEEE. The furniture industry is one of the labour – intensive and generally the hand – made working industries. The production to be done by hand as well as increases the physical work demands, it also brings with musculoskeletal system diseases and risks. Therefore, furniture manufacture is one of the sectors that musculoskeletal disorders are intense and it is one of the most experiencing sectors for lumbar, back and shoulder problems. In recent years, these problems have been increasing and especially physical strain and injuries have occurred more often in stages of storage, production and distribution. Many risk factors cause these injuries. These risk factors are classified as biomechanical, psychosocial and individual. The biomechanical risk factors caused by working conditions and working manner are due to bending, twist, lifting, pushing – pulling, heavy physical work, repetitive work, posture and vibration that occur very frequently in the furniture industry. The most important approach to reduce these risks is to reduce the physical working necessity in heavy work. This research is conducted to determine work and work environment based physical strains on employees of five companies that produce furniture in different cities in Turkey. Therefore, a checklist has been prepared that 239 individuals, who work in departments of massive processing, board processing, sanding, assembly, finishing and packaging, are asked to evaluate their working conditions and environment. The checklist consists of 60 questions related to operation by hand, physical energy consumption, musculoskeletal system usage, working tools and equipment, workstation and work facilitation. As a result of this research, it is concluded that working conditions and working environment conditions increase strain in individuals (p, Mobilya sektörü emek yoğun ve işin genellikle elle yapıldığı sektörlerden biridir. Zira mobilya üretimi kas-iskelet rahatsızlıklarının en yoğun olduğu, bel, sırt ve omuz sorunlarının en çok yaşandığı sektörlerden biridir. Son yıllarda bu sorunlar giderek artmakta, özellikle depolama, üretim ve dağıtım aşamalarında bedensel zorlanma ve sakatlanmalar daha fazla olmaktadır. Bu sakatlanmalara neden olan sayısız risk faktörü vardır. Bu risk faktörleri biyomekanik, psikososyal ve bireysel olarak sınıflandırılmaktadır. Çalışma koşulları ve çalışma biçiminin neden olduğu biyomekanik risk faktörleri mobilya sektöründe çok sık gerçekleşen eğilme, bükülme, kaldırma, itme-çekme, ağır fiziksel iş, tekrarlı iş, postür-duruş ve vibrasyondan kaynaklanmaktadır. Bu riskleri azaltmada en önemli yaklaşım ağır çalışmalarda fiziksel iş ihtiyacını azaltmaktır. Bu çalışma ülkemizde farklı illerde mobilya üretimi yapan 5 işletmede çalışanların iş ve iş ortamı kaynaklı fiziksel zorlanmalarını belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. In today’s production paradigm, as the production volume decreases, the variety of the product increases. Furniture industry has been significantly affected by this paradigm. As a result of this increasing product variety, planning activities cannot be done effectively and workers are exposed to excessive workloads. For this reason, musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) is widespread among workers in the furniture industry.This study investigates the working postures of workers who work in a big size furniture company in Denizli. REBA method is used to analyze the working postures. Video records of thirty-two workers are analyzed and tasks that have potentially high risk of MSD are determined. The results of REBA method show that 60% of the workers who work in the production and assembly lines are at the risk of MSD. Some preventive measures are proposed in order to minimize the risk of MSD., Günümüz üretim anlayışında parti büyüklükleri giderek düşerken ürün çeşidi giderek artmaktadır. Mobilya sektörü de bu üretim anlayışından önemli ölçüde etkilenmektedir. Artan ürün çeşidinin bir sonucu olarak planlama faaliyetleri etkili bir şekilde yapılamamakta ve işçiler çoğu zaman aşırı yüklenmelere maruz kalmaktadır. Bu nedenle mobilya sektöründe çalışan işçilerde kas iskelet sistemi rahatsızlıklarına (KİSR) oldukça sık rastlanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada; Denizli ilinde faaliyet gösteren büyük ölçekli bir mobilya firmasındaki işçilerin çalışma duruşları incelenmiştir. Çalışma duruşlarını analiz etmek için REBA yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Otuz iki işçinin görüntü kayıtları incelenerek ölçümler yapılmış ve KİSR açısından riskli işler belirlenmiştir. REBA analizi sonuçlarına göre; özellikle üretim ve montaj hatlarında çalışan işçilerin yaklaşık %60’ının KİSR açısından oldukça riskli olduğu tespit edilmiştir. KİSR risk seviyelerini azaltmak için bazı iyileştirme önerileri ortaya konulmuştur.

Bireysel emeklilik sistemi (BES) düzenli birikimler ile emeklilik döneminde daha iyi yaşam için gerekli tasarrufları sağlayan bir yatırım aracıdır. Devletlerin teşvikleri ile BES’e olan talep son zamanlarda oldukça artırmıştır. Bu çalışmada, düşük risk profiline sahip yatırımcılar için banka vadeli mevduat sistemi (BVMS) ve BES’e ilişkin getiriler karşılaştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla dört farklı senaryo oluşturulmuş ve bu senaryolar net bugünkü değer ve karlılık indeksi yöntemlerine göre statik ve dinamik durumlar dikkate alınarak üç farklı prim ödemesi için değerlendirilmiştir. Gelecek dönemlere ait finansal oran tahminlerinin oluşturulmasında yapay sinir ağları ve Monte-Carlo simülasyon yaklaşımları kullanılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, kısa vadeli yatırımlar için BVMS daha kazançlıyken, uzun vadeli yatırımlarda ise BES’in hem statik hem de dinamik koşullar altında açıkça daha kazançlı bir yatırım olduğu görülmüştür., The individual pension system (IPS) is an investment tool with regular payments that provides necessary savings for better live in retirement period. The demand for the IPS are substantially increased in recent years with the encouragements of the governments. In this study, revenues of bank’s deposit system (BDS) and IPS are compared for low-risk profile investors. For this reason, four scenarios are created and are evaluated for three different amounts of initial payment by using net present value and profitability index methods under both static and dynamic environments. Artificial neural networks and Monte-Carlo simulation approaches are used in creation of financial forecasts. As a result, while the BDS is more profitable for short-term investments, the IPS is clearly a more profitable investment for long-term investments in both static and dynamic environments.

The aim of this research is to measure and evaluate the level of satisfaction of engineering faculty studentsconcerning the service of a university library. For this reason, two basic problems are studied. The firstproblem is to identify opinions of engineering students about the services of the university library whilethe second problem is to determine the effect of professional education on library usage practices androutines of engineering faculty students. 160 engineering faculty senior class students who are selected byusing stratified sampling according to departments participated in this research. The data are conductedthrough a survey method and results are analysed through frequency tables and non-parametric statisticalmethods. In this research, library usage frequencies of the students, the qualification of engineeringeducation for library usage practices and routines, and satisfactoriness of library services are measured andevaluated in the research. Modern piyasa şartlarında rekabet gücünü devam ettirebilmek için tedarik zincirlerinde ana üretici, tedarikçi ve müşteri ilişkilerinin etkin ve sürdürülebilir bir şekilde yönetimini gerektirmektedir. Tedarikçi rolü, bir taraftan müşterisi konumundaki işletmenin taleplerini istenilen maliyette, kalitede, zamanda ve esneklikte sağlayabilmeyi gerektirirken, aynı zamanda sistem, ürün ve çevre güvenliği şartlarını sistematik bir şekilde yönetmesini gerektirmektedir. Etkin bir tedarik zinciri yönetiminde önemli bir yere sahip olan tedarikçi belirleme kararları, nitel ve nicel faktörlerin bir arada değerlendirildiği karma yönetim karar destek modelleri ile daha tutarlı olacaktır. Bu doğrultuda yapılan çalışmada, sistem bütünlüğü esas alınarak, dinamik bir tedarikçi seçim sürecinin tasarlanması ve modellenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla Balanced Scorecard perspektifleri temelli ve sistem güvenliği esaslı değerlendirme kriterleri oluşturulmuştur. Kriterlerin önem derecelerinin belirlenmesinde Bulanık Analitik Hiyerarşi Prosesi yönteminden faydalanılmıştır. Alternatif tedarikçiler arasından sistem güvenliği esasına göre en uygun olan tedarikçinin seçilmesi ise Fayda Aralığı Temelli Etkileşimli Grup karar verme yöntemi ile belirlenmiştir. Önerilen modelin sınanması için hizmet sektöründe faaliyet gösteren bir havaalanı işletmecisi seçilmiştir. Sonuç olarak sunulan modelin uygulamada tutarlı sonuçlar üreten bir tedarikçi seçim karar modeli olduğu ortaya konulmuştur.

Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) consist of many different substances some of which contain hazardous components and valuable materials. The recovery of WEEE plays a key role on environmental sustainability because it minimizes the negative effects of hazardous materials and helps the efficient use of world’s limited resources. Recovery strategies enable companies to collect reusable components and to recycle the material content of WEEE by using operations like sorting, disassembly and bulk recycling. Usually companies associated with municipals collect WEEE from end-users and/or collection points. Then they sell these items to WEEE recycling facilities through bidding. For recycling facilities, it is important to generate the best operational level decisions to receive and handle WEEE. This study contributes to the fulfillment of this need by presenting a mixed integer linear programming model to determine the maximum bid price offer while determining the best operation planning strategies. In order to demonstrate the potential of the proposed model, a real life case study along with several scenarios is studied. The findings of the case study indicate that the model has the potential to enable the decision maker to come with stronger decisions related to both bidding process and operational strategies of the facility. © 2015, Springer Science+Business Media New York.

Many models have been developed for the measurement and audit of total or partial productivity in companies. Workshop Productivity Management by Ratios (WPMR) model which aims to measure labor productivity is the best model of those which exhibits the effects of employee, supervisor and managers on labor productivity. In this study, the implementation of a productivity management system that shows the lack of responsibility for productivity of these sources at the mechanical workshop in a company and also reports the results to managers is presented. In existing model, owing to insufficient categorization of breakdowns which cause to unproductiveness, a new categorization according to ineffectual factors in a work and also a development on producing the related productivity ratios have been obtained. After a daily record form so as to determine the breakdowns had been designed, these forms were filled out by operators working at three machines which were determined by management along 28 days, in April and May as pilot study In order to store the data in a systematical way, and to analyze daily, weekly and monthly productivity ratios, an Excell VBA interface has been designed and programmed. For the application period, the related productivity ratios have been satisfied, and discussed. İşgücü verimliliğinin ölçümünü amaçlayan modellerden, Oranlarla İşgücü Verimlilik Yönetim (WPMR) Modeli, verimliliğe işgücü, ustabaşı ve yöneticilerin etkisini sergileyen en uygun modeldir. Bu çalışmada, WPMR modeli kullanılarak bir işletmenin Mekanik İşler Atölyesi'nde her bir tür kaynağın sorumluluğundaki verimsizliği ortaya koyan ve sorumlu yöneticilere raporlayan bir verimlilik yönetim sisteminin tasarımı ele alınmıştır. Mevcut modelde, verimsizliğe neden olan duruşların yetersiz sınıflandırması dikkate alınarak, toplam iş kapsamı içinde etkin olmayan faktörlere göre duruşların kategorileştirilmesi ve ilgili verimlilik oranlarının hesaplanmasında geliştirme yapılmıştır. Duruşların tespitine yönelik günlük kayıt formu tasarlanmış, form 2005 Yılı Nisan ve Mayıs aylarında toplam 28 işgünü, yönetim tarafından belirienen 3 tezgâhta uygulanmıştır. Elde edinilen verilerin sistematik kaydı ve günlük, haftalık, aylık ve istenen dönemler için verimlilik analizini sağlayan bir Excel VBA programı tasarianmış, uygulama dönemi için verimlilik oranları elde edilerek karşılaştırmalar yapılmış ve modelin uygulanabildiğine ilişkin bazı önemli öneriler sunulmuştur.
