This article presents two different feedback control approaches namely Proportional-integral-derivative (PID) and Artificial neural network for active suspension control of quarter car model. The study analysis car and wheel body displacement and velocity for achieving desired control. Mathematical model of the system was developed and simulated in Matlab/Simulink platform. Initially, PID controller was designed and its results were used as data base for training of neural controller. Several iterations were performed till an optimal value of mean square error (MSE) and regression (R) results were obtained for neural controller. The performance of controllers has been monitored in terms of attributes like settle time, overshoot range and steady state response. Results indicate superior performance of neural controller in terms of settling time and overshoot ranges compared to PID controller. Lastly, both the controllers showed excellent steady state response thus enhancing robustness of the system against external disturbances. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Mathematical model of the system has been developed and initially simulated using PID controller. The results of PID were considered as data sets for training of ANFIS controller. The objective is to design an ANFIS controller with least possible number of membership function in order to overcome the problem of rule explosion associated with fuzzy controllers. The results of both the controllers has been compared which indicate superior performance of ANFIS controller in terms of settle time and overshoot responses. This article presents a novel decision-making approach based on fuzzy canonical representation for evaluating performance of different main battle tanks (MBTs). Fuzzy-delphi technique has been considered for estimating performances of five different MBTs. The main criteria which were considered for evaluation includes mobility, armament and cost. These criterions were further divided into various sub-criterions for better analysis. The study considers a combination of triangular and trapezoidal fuzzy membership functions for fuzzification of different criteria and alternatives.
