ACTORS ,NARRATIVES ,METAPHOR ,IMAGINATION - Abstract
The actor during the process of dramatic creation constantly provokes and elaborates compositions through his own body, voice, thoughts and imagination. He becomes a body in action that expresses and incorporates different typologies/characters, imagines and plays out different situations from countless different perspectives, creates physical and mental actions, forms, represents and signifies, elaborates living narrative structures. The creative process can be diverted by blockages that can arise from multiple causes, but above all from a lack of order in the discourse, of rigour, when the work is based on intuitive and chaotic constructions, or when there is a lack of mastery of the means of scenic expression, theatrical techniques and methods, due to the lack of structure, composition and a concrete language and vocabulary. This work aims to emphasise the importance of knowing the components related to technique, of playing in front of an audience in a controlled, supervised, verified but spontaneous way, of understanding and mastering the various compositional principles, language and specific concepts that describe how actors create and organise space, movement, action, communication, etc. These notions form the vocabulary of stage creation and provide actors with clear tools for working, a system for organising and constructing their own work. CONTEXTUALISM (Philosophy) - Abstract
I argue that knowing and having points of view are fundamentally different epistemic states if we assume that having justified true beliefs is necessary for knowledge. Knowers necessarily possess justified true beliefs, but persons holding points of view may, for example, lack justification, have false beliefs, or both. I examine these differences and expose other crucial differentiating patterns between the structure of knowledge and points of view that make the latter more likely to lead to disagreements. I hypothesize that these patterns remain invariant in alternative views of knowledge like contextualism as long as we preserve the classical structure. Yet there is much research to be done on the multiple and contrasting properties that emerge if we consider non‐classical analyses of knowledge and points of view. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CONSCIOUSNESS , *PLURALISM , *SUBJECTIVITY , *EMOTIVISM , *LANGUAGE & languages - Abstract
The starting point of this paper is the thought that the phenomenal appearances that accompany mental states are somehow only there, or only real, from the standpoint of the subject of those mental states. The world differs across subjects in terms of which appearances obtain. Not only are subjects standpoints across which the world varies, subjects are standpoints that we can moreover 'adopt' in our own theorizing about the world (or stand back from). The picture that is suggested by these claims has an appeal but is at the same time obscure and stands in need of regimentation. This paper explores and motivates a metaphysical account of what it is for subjects to be standpoints, what it is to adopt standpoints in our representations and, most importantly, how these notions might help us better understand the subjective character of conscious mental states. Some well-known observations by Thomas Nagel serve as starting points and the paper concludes by revisiting Nagel's argument for the inevitable incompleteness of objective accounts of mental states, which will be reframed in terms of the central commitments of the proposed framework. MORAL relativism , *SEMANTICS (Philosophy) , *RELATIVITY , *MODAL logic - Abstract
Truth-relativism is the claim that the truth of statements is dependent on the context in which they are made. In this article, truth-relativism is considered as a way to explain disagreements. Viewpoint relativism, a recent version of truth-relativism, is introduced as a useful framework to analyse how truth-relativism approaches disagreements. Viewpoint relativism is based on contextual semantics and the logic of viewpoint, which is a two-dimensional modal logic. In viewpoint relativism, the central concept is a point of view in relation to which truth claims are evaluated. Viewpoint relativism is compared to the truth-relativism of Peter Lasersohn and John MacFarlane. Finally, truth-relativism is defended against the critique of Paul Boghossian that it represents untenable 'replacement relativism'. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

DEBATE ,DIALECTIC ,LOGIC ,THOUGHT & thinking ,MISCOMMUNICATION - Abstract
In this paper, we describe inferences on a school task, which are reconstructed by the mean of two perspectives from argumentation theory: The pragma-dialectical model and Grize's natural logic. Both analyses focus on the same item of mathematics, issued from a PISA survey, in order to discuss their specific contribution in elucidating the actual reasoning involved in both the student's answer and the evaluator's expectations. The mismatch between these two points of view allow us to discuss the potentiality of a situation of misunderstanding. Investigating how specific tasks in particular contexts are interpreted provides a contribution to methodological approaches treating thinking processes as situated and socially negotiated from a diversity of points of views, as for example Inhelder's (1962) microgenetic approach. In order to extend such analysis to interpretations of discourse, an interdisciplinary approach combining argumentation theory and socio-cognitive psychology is needed. Here, we observed for instance that students may provide the expected answers and still interpret the question or problem differently from the task's designers (or "teacher"). The meaning of language and other signs, such as graphs or mathematical symbols, cannot be taken for granted when several interlocutors are involved. This issue chiefly concerns argumentation theory, since it raises the question of the integration of specific contexts and points of view in the analysis of argumentation. Therefore, argumentation should be analysed also as a process, and not only as a product; For more detail on this distinction, see for instance Grize (1996) and Kuhn & Udell (2003, 2007). 20TH century art ,FICTION - Abstract
The present study deals with the novel dramatization in the context of the synthesis of the art in the literature of the 20th century. The changes in the literary text caused by introducing a new pictorial and expressive technique are given. The use of pictorial and theatrical ekphrasis in Maugham's novels was analysed. W. S. Maugham's novels are considered through the prism of his theatrical experience. The paper attempts to interpret his poetics of dramatization as a way out of the epic and the creation of a qualitatively new multi-plate and multifaceted phenomenon. At the narrative level, there is an interruption in the integrity of the story. Vertical layers add a horizontal plan for the development of the plot, and the subjective structure has changed at the level of inclusion of several storytellers. The study revealed that the connotations to paintings and plays increase the effect of descriptiveness and enrich expressive, emotional, and sensual perception. The method of "points of view" is used to overcome the plane of description and move to the sphere of the display. The clash of diverse "points of view" and their filtering by the dominant "point of view" of the narrator increases the dramatization influence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

TRANSLATING & interpreting ,TRANSLATIONS of poetry ,CHINESE poetry ,MIRROR neurons ,PSYCHOLOGICAL techniques - Abstract
There have been few attempts at applying cultural neuroscience and psychology to the discussion of poetic translatability. This study employs cultural neuroscience and psychology methodologies and forms of evidence to explore the neurocognitive mechanisms by which cross-cultural variations in perspectives during the translation process influence poetic reception in the target culture. The English translation of Chinese poetry is often tasked with the supplement of perspectives and accompanied by cross-cultural variations of immersion. These changes have been substantially discussed from literary and poetic perspectives but remain understudied in terms of their neurocognitive and psychological implications. Through textual analysis of first-person points of view, this study attempts to apply neuroscience to the interpretation of the impact of differences in cross-cultural perspectives in poetry translation. Our findings suggest that a general tendency toward the supplement of first-person perspectives could boost the immersive experience by activating mirror neurons and the temporal parietal junction. These neuroscientific mechanisms underlying the observable cultural phenomenon offer implications for the translation of Chinese poetry in a way that generates brain responses and neurotransmitters similar to the source text. This study demonstrates how research in neuroscience can illuminate findings in cross-cultural communication. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

I, Khaled Kelkal evokes the trajectory of Khaled Kelkal, son of Algerian immigrants from the Lyon suburbs, radicalized in prison, and involved in various terrorist attacks in France in 1995. Although the novel takes the form of a testimony from Kelkal with a single voice, polyphony allows Salim Bachi to constantly make two points of view coincide within the narration, that of the radicalized and that of a skeptic Other, who gauges various speeches, and is sort of a double of the author. Points of view and intertextuality allow the reader to exercise their critical mind, making the novel both a pedagogical text on jihadist recruitment and a praxis of deradicalization. Objective: The aim is to analyze the perceptions about the quality of Iberian ham through the appreciations of consumers and sellers. Based on trust understood as interaction between both agents in the food chain. Methodology: A qualitative exploratory methodology was used, applying a questionnaire to 100 consumers and 30 ham vendors. Results: It was found that the current production processes and the incorporation of technology to the Iberian ham sector show four types of perceptions that were classified as positive current, better in the past, neutral and permanent. Limitations: There was no classification of the type of seller, and the size of the sample does not allow generalizations, so for future research it will be necessary to address these suggestions. Conclusions: The changes in the conception of quality are related to the perception on the application of the regulations of the ham sector, but fundamentally depend on the dynamic and built trust relationships between the consumer and the seller. ACADEMIC discourse ,PROFESSIONAL peer review ,COMMUNICATION ,SOCIAL media ,SEATING arrangements (Education) - Abstract
We are living in a digital era in which everybody who is not participating will be left behind. Yes, that is true. We are all chased by the rapid changes of this era, and we are running faster and faster to catch up with the latest technology. It seems as if we are all haunted to go deeper and deeper into the "tunnel of the digital era". The same thing happens in the world of education. However, if we notice more closely, there are still some aspects that can be done directly without necessitating the use of technology. One example is studentstudent direct interactions. Technology can be used to facilitate peer assessments, not replace student-student interactions. One central research question to be answered in this paper is: What are male and female Indonesian students' points of views towards peer reviews? Despite all the sophisticated technology we are all exposed to in this era, peer feedback should still be done directly with real, face-to-face communication in a classroom setting. Indirect online communication or chatting through social media may cause a misunderstanding and misinterpretation of one's ideas. Data for this study was taken from 39 students' opinions in their journals. They were Academic Writing class students of the English Department of UKSW Indonesia, in Semester II, 2015-2016. Most students stated that direct and interactive face-to-face communication is still needed. It proves that digitation cannot replace everything. Real communication with real peers in the real - not cyber - world can enhance successful learning. The findings also reveal that differences were found between male and female students' reactions or perceptions towards peer reviews. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex heterogeneous clinical entity with many overlaps and comorbidities with other psychiatric and developmental disorders. Adults with ASD lack adequate access to facilities and supports. This article describes the clinical profile of the first 34 patients admitted to Roozbeh adult ASD clinic during a 12-month period. Twenty-eight patients were male, all were single, 22 patients were unemployed and 26 were living with their families of origin. Obsession, inattention and sexual problems were the most common chief complaints. Multifaceted and gender-specific presentations results in misdiagnoses. Knowledge and training of the mental health professionals on adult ASD seem to be seriously inadequate. There is virtually no other specialized clinical and rehabilitation facilitates to help this vulnerable group of patients in Iran.

The Lesser Sunda Archipelago offers exceptional potential as a model system for studying the dynamics of dispersal-driven diversification. The geographic proximity of the islands suggests the possibility for successful dispersal, but this is countered by the permanence of the marine barriers and extreme intervening currents that are expected to hinder gene flow. Phylogenetic and species delimitation analyses of flying lizards (genus Draco) using single mitochondrial genes, complete mitochondrial genomes, and exome-capture data sets identified 9–11 deeply divergent lineages including single-island endemics, lineages that span multiple islands, and parapatrically distributed nonsister lineages on the larger islands. Population clustering and PCA confirmed these genetic boundaries with isolation-by-distance playing a role in some islands or island sets. While gdi estimates place most candidate species comparisons in the ambiguous zone, migration estimates suggest 9 or 10 species exist with nuclear introgression detected across some intra-island contact zones. Initial entry of Draco into the archipelago occurred at 5.5–7.5 Ma, with most inter-island colonization events having occurred between 1–3 Ma. Biogeographical model testing favors scenarios integrating geographic distance and historical island connectivity, including an initial stepping-stone dispersal process from the Greater Sunda Shelf through the Sunda Arc as far eastward as Lembata Island. However, rather than reaching the adjacent island of Pantar by dispersing over the 15-km wide Alor Strait, Draco ultimately reached Pantar (and much of the rest of the archipelago) by way of a circuitous route involving at least five overwater dispersal events. These findings suggest that historical geological and oceanographic conditions heavily influenced dispersal pathways and gene flow, which in turn drove species formation and shaped species boundaries. Target enrichment is becoming increasingly popular for phylogenomic studies. Although baits for enrichment are typically designed to target single-copy genes, paralogs are often recovered with increased sequencing depth, sometimes from a significant proportion of loci, especially in groups experiencing whole-genome duplication (WGD) events. Common approaches for processing paralogs in target enrichment data sets include random selection, manual pruning, and mainly, the removal of entire genes that show any evidence of paralogy. These approaches are prone to errors in orthology inference or removing large numbers of genes. By removing entire genes, valuable information that could be used to detect and place WGD events is discarded. Here, we used an automated approach for orthology inference in a target enrichment data set of 68 species of Alchemilla s.l. (Rosaceae), a widely distributed clade of plants primarily from temperate climate regions. Previous molecular phylogenetic studies and chromosome numbers both suggested ancient WGDs in the group. However, both the phylogenetic location and putative parental lineages of these WGD events remain unknown. By taking paralogs into consideration and inferring orthologs from target enrichment data, we identified four nodes in the backbone of Alchemilla s.l. with an elevated proportion of gene duplication. Furthermore, using a gene-tree reconciliation approach, we established the autopolyploid origin of the entire Alchemilla s.l. and the nested allopolyploid origin of four major clades within the group. Here, we showed the utility of automated tree-based orthology inference methods, previously designed for genomic or transcriptomic data sets, to study complex scenarios of polyploidy and reticulate evolution from target enrichment data sets.[Alchemilla; allopolyploidy; autopolyploidy; gene tree discordance; orthology inference; paralogs; Rosaceae; target enrichment; whole genome duplication.]

- Abstract
The following exposition deals with the phenomenon of fear as it is approached in Being and Time. It seeks to uncover and deal analytically and interpretatively with Heidegger's debt in his own approach to this mood. The purpose is to show that in his analyses Heidegger recovers and makes productive use of specific elements concerning both Aristotle's treatment of the phenomenon of fear and the results he uncovered. From the comparative reading of the pertinent texts it is shown that the argumentation that Heidegger unfolds is carried out in narrow link and pursuit of the Aristotelian considerations. Of these reflections of Aristotle, it can be said, already considered the matter in Heideggerian key, that they conform a phenomenological hermeneutic analysis avant la lettre. In order to reach the indicated objective, we proceed trying to present an interpretative reading that takes into account the key passages of Aristotle and those of Heidegger in which the latter gathers the first ones. The aim is thus to be able to draw attention to the subject and to explain to what extent certain aspects of the páthos of fear as expounded by Aristotle in turn expose fundamental structures of existence as Heidegger conceives it. If this can be shown, then it will be possible to verify that Heidegger's debt to Aristotle is even greater., El siguiente trabajo se ocupa del fenómeno del miedo tal como es abordado en Ser y Tiempo.

In this paper we explore Ronald N. Giere's contributions to the scientific realism debate. After outlining some of his general views on the philosophy of science, we locate his contributions within the traditional scientific realism debate. We argue that Giere's scientific perspectivism is best seen as a form of carte blanche realism, that is: a view according to which science is a practice aiming at truth, and can warrantably claim to have attained it, to a certain degree; however, it does not place our confidence invariably in some specific feature of scientific representations.

The necessity of promoting physical activity in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has been emphasized for decades. One of the barriers to participate in physical activity for individuals with ASD is limited interest and motivation. Therefore, understanding the motivation to exercise in this population is important. The objective was to determine the effect of using contingent reinforcement in the form of watching a preferred DVD to increase duration of time pedalling on a stationary bicycle within their predetermined target heart rate zone (THRZ) in children with ASD. Using a crossover design, seven participants (11 2.7 years) who were diagnosed with ASD were randomly assigned to either Group A or B. Time spent pedalling on a bicycle within the THRZ was analysed using a linear mixed-effect model with Bonferroni adjustments. The results showed that the DVD intervention motivated children with ASD to exercise for more than 10 minutes in moderate to vigorous physical activity compared to when they were exercising without watching a DVD. This result is significant as number of studies have revealed that 10 minutes of exercise could bring improvements in activities of daily living such as behaviors and academic performance in school.

- Abstract
This paper defends the possibility of identifying not one, but two tiers of opposition between the concepts of the right and the good, but also of thinking their articulation as a normative issue. It specifically examines the way Thomas Nagel articulates these two notions, in a liberal and egalitarian perspective close to Rawls's, but using a distinct and original method, which calls for a rethink of the links between morality and politics. A comprehensive, hands-on hemodialysis curriculum during nephrology training is necessary for effective learning and optimal patient care. Traditional instructive approaches are unable to fully meet the needs of the digitally inclined learner and are limited by time constraints and increasing clinical workload. Internet based learning (E-learning) is becoming increasingly popular in medical education and nephrology and gaining even greater relevance in the COVID era. However, it presents technical challenges and may create an environment of social isolation. A ‘blended learning approach’ combines E-learning with traditional methods of teaching and offers advantages over either approach alone. We have designed and implemented a formalized hemodialysis curriculum at our institution that is based on blended learning, utilizing faculty-created E-learning tools combined with traditional pedagogical methods (bed-side and classroom). The web-based tools discuss hemodialysis adequacy, principles of urea transport, hemodialysis access examination and access complications. These tools are open access and structured around the science of cognitive learning using animation, interactivity, self-assessment and immediate feedback features. They have been viewed by a wide audience of nephrologists, dialysis nurses as well as medicine house-staff and have received strong validation in a post-test survey. The online tools have supported a ‘flipped classroom’ instructive model and our blended curriculum has been successfully used for nephrology fellow training at our institution. Incorporating faculty designed/approved E-learning tools to create a ‘blended’ nephrology curriculum for trainees at various levels of medical education, can help streamline active and time-efficient learning, with the goal of improving learner engagement, knowledge acquisition and academic curiosity in the field.

The branching patterns of molecular phylogenies are generally assumed to contain information on rates of the underlying speciation and extinction processes. Simple birth–death models with constant, time-varying, or diversity-dependent rates have been invoked to explain these patterns. They have one assumption in common: all lineages have the same set of diversification rates at a given point in time. It seems likely, however, that there is variability in diversification rates across subclades in a phylogenetic tree. This has inspired the construction of models that allow multiple rate regimes across the phylogeny, with instantaneous shifts between these regimes. Several methods exist for calculating the likelihood of a phylogeny under a specified mapping of diversification regimes and for performing inference on the most likely diversification history that gave rise to a particular phylogenetic tree. Here, we show that the likelihood computation of these methods is not correct. We provide a new framework to compute the likelihood correctly and show, with simulations of a single shift, that the correct likelihood indeed leads to parameter estimates that are on average in much better agreement with the generating parameters than the incorrect likelihood. Moreover, we show that our corrected likelihood can be extended to multiple rate shifts in time-dependent and diversity-dependent models. We argue that identifying shifts in diversification rates is a nontrivial model selection exercise where one has to choose whether shifts in now-extinct lineages are taken into account or not. Hence, our framework also resolves the recent debate on such unobserved shifts. [Diversification; macroevolution; phylogeny; speciation]

During the Algerian revolution of February 22, we are witnessing the emergence of a conflicting discourse (Windisch, 1987), dividing public opinion into two fronts around the need to structure the movement and to identify word. Voices in conflict (Rabatel, 2017) try to legitimize certain political figures to represent the Algerian people, and, at the same time, to legitimize themselves through the image that the speakers in conflict construct of them. We will try to demonstrate that the construction of the self-image in a delayed debate is first of all a deconstruction of the self-image proposed by the interaction partner, actualized in conflicting points of view. It is then the attribution, implicit or explicit, of a self-image by the speaker to his opponent. The indirect and asymmetrical nature of the exchange accentuates the conflict between the interlocutors and radicalizes their positions.

The general objective of this study is to examine the various parameters that determine semantically the enunciative integration of points of view ascribed to the addressees of some utterances, in any form of argumentative discourse. Depending on various modal and discourse markers, the points of view under study result from repetitions or rewordings, we may call diaphonic, whose echoic effects consist of answering an actual or virtual speaker. The features of these anaphora will be analyzed from the angle of three kinds of correlations between the dialogic scenography they stem from and the corresponding dialog scene, on a related interactional level.

Various health problems of people with intellectual disabilities (ID) are associated with their physical inactivity. The present study aimed at the understanding of physiological and psychological responses toward exergaming in seven young adults with mild to moderate ID after a single-session and a multiple-session condition, respectively. Their heart rate (HR), the rating of perceived exertion (RPE), and physical activity enjoyment scale (PACES) were measured on control and exergaming sessions. The significant increased HR, which may represent the increased physical activity levels that led to energy expenditure, was observed after a single-session and a multiple-session condition. In addition, the significant increase in RPE and PACES were evident after a single-session condition but a multiple-session condition. The feeling of physical fatigue seems to be distracted by external motivators (e.g. music). However, the positive affectivity to exercise was not noted when exercise was scheduled as their daily routines. This phenomenon might explain the high prevalence of physical inactivity among this population.

Summary: It is possible to read in Joc de Miralls that mirrors offer wider possibilities of vision thanks to their numerous angles but, at the same time, they offer all the traps of reflection. But, why are the reflections deceitful? And, as products of mirror‘s surface, are those reflections the same as the masks we all bring with us over our own identity? The characters of Carme Riera‘s novels never are what they seem to be. Furthermore, most of the time, they hide unexpected identities. But in this book, the characters go one step forward: they struggle to find who they are in a process that seems to never end.

Evolutionary models account for either population- or species-level processes but usually not both. We introduce a new model, the FBD-MSC, which makes it possible for the first time to integrate both the genealogical and fossilization phenomena, by means of the multispecies coalescent (MSC) and the fossilized birth-death (FBD) processes. Using this model, we reconstruct the phylogeny representing all extant and many fossil Caninae, recovering both the relative and absolute time of speciation events. We quantify known inaccuracy issues with divergence time estimates using the popular strategy of concatenating molecular alignments and show that the FBD-MSC solves them. Our new integrative method and empirical results advance the paradigm and practice of probabilistic total evidence analyses in evolutionary biology., Systematic Biology, 71 (1), ISSN:1063-5157, ISSN:1076-836X

Temperate woody plants in the Northern Hemisphere have long been known to exhibit high species richness in East Asia and North America and significantly lower diversity in Europe, but the causes of this pattern remain debated. Here, we quantify the roles of dispersal, niche evolution, and extinction in shaping the geographic diversity of the temperate woody plant family Juglandaceae (walnuts and their relatives). Integrating evidence from molecular, morphological, fossil, and (paleo)environmental data, we find strong support for a Boreotropical origin of the family with contrasting evolutionary trajectories between the temperate subfamily Juglandoideae and the tropical subfamily Engelhardioideae. Juglandoideae rapidly evolved frost tolerance when the global climate shifted to ice-house conditions from the Oligocene, with diversification at high latitudes especially in Europe and Asia during the Miocene. Subsequent range contraction at high latitudes and high levels of extinction in Europe driven by global cooling led to the current regional disparity in species diversity. Engelhardioideae showed temperature conservatism while adapting to increased humidity, tracking tropical climates to low latitudes since the middle Eocene with comparatively little diversification, perhaps due to high competition in the tropical zone. The biogeographic history of Juglandaceae shows that the North Atlantic land bridge and Europe played more critical roles than previously thought in linking the floras of East Asia and North America, and showcases the complex interplay among climate change, niche evolution, dispersal, and extinction that shaped the modern disjunct pattern of species richness in temperate woody plants. The paper highlights the reasons for implementation and the functions of a system that proposes advanced facilities for setting up adapted storytelling-based presentations. Educational and cultural mediations are privileged but not exclusive. In the first part we propose a quick review of the state-of-the-art concerning the storytelling shift in ICT research and development; we discuss, specifically, its power to render interpretation strategies salient, promote reading and, hopefully, understanding. In the second part we briefly describe the most innovative functionalities of the system both in constructing and visualizing presentations. We particularly focus on: i. the creation of the presentation fulcrum, ii. the construction of a presentation, iii. the implementation of an "intelligent" module that offers contextualized assistance, able to expand and adapt a presentation to different reception expectations and iv. the indexing/research module. We finish with a brief discussion about some evaluation results and conclude with the contributions of the presented approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Points of view are a central phenomenon in human cognition. Although the concept of point of view is ambiguous, there exist common elements in different notions. A point of view is a certain way to look at things around us. In conceptual points of view, things are looked at or interpreted through conceptual lenses. Conceptual points of view are important for epistemology, cognitive science, and philosophy of science. In this article, a new method to formalize conceptual points of view is introduced. It is based on the conceptual space approach, where concepts are regions of multi-dimensional quality spaces. Points of view, as defined in this article, consist of a selection of relevant dimensions, referred to here as determinables, and of a certain supposition, referred to here as a theory, about the subject content. After considering some early efforts to formalize points of view, the notion of conceptual space is defined and explored. One concept of point of view is defined and developed in the framework of conceptual space, and a new logic for points of view is also outlined. The problem of mind-body correlation is discussed as an example of the application of the notion of points of view. To conclude, the meaning and applications of the new concepts and tools developed in the article are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article calls for the application of ethnolinguistic methodology in Polish-language glottodidactics. In the introductory part, the concept of cultureme – a cultural unit belonging to a given cultural system and relevant to its understanding – is discussed with the use of world and Polish literature on the subject. The necessity to include culture in teaching Polish as a foreign language is an undisputed matter. Ways of selecting culturemes from the vast space of culture specific unites seem to be less obvious. Who is „authorized” to nominate them – only a representative of the native culture or, also, an external observer? Can culturemes be selected as a result of the negotiation process? The article presents the techniques for their selection and negotiation using internal and external perspectives, as well as proposals to use this methodology in the practice of teaching Polish as a foreign language.

The last half century of paleornithological research has transformed the way that biologists perceive the evolutionary history of birds. This transformation has been driven, since 1969, by a series of exciting fossil discoveries combined with intense scientific debate over how best to interpret these discoveries. Ideally, as evidence accrues and results accumulate, interpretive scientific agreement forms. But this has not entirely happened in the debate over avian origins: the accumulation of scientific evidence and analyses has had some effect, but not a conclusive one, in terms of resolving the question of avian origins. Although the majority of biologists have come to accept that birds are dinosaurs, there is lingering and, in some quarters, strident opposition to this view. In order to both understand the ongoing disagreement about avian origins and generate a prediction about the future of the debate, here we use a revised model of scientific practice to assess the current and historical state of play surrounding the topic of bird evolutionary origins. Many scientists are familiar with the metascientific scholars Sir Karl Popper and Thomas Kuhn, and these are the primary figures that have been appealed to so far, in prior attempts to assess the dispute. But we demonstrate that a variation of Imre Lakatos’s model of progressive versus degenerative research programmes provides a novel and productive assessment of the debate. We establish that a refurbished Lakatosian account both explains the intractability of the dispute and predicts a likely outcome for the debate about avian origins. In short, here, we offer a metascientific tool for rationally assessing competing theories—one that allows researchers involved in seemingly intractable scientific disputes to advance their debates.

This work delves into the equivalences of hélas in Spanish and is part of the recent comparative approaches linked to the linguistic theories of enunciation. The aim of the article is to open a way for the contrastive analysis of the discursive operators that combines the syntactic properties with a semantic approach that allows showing the similarities and differences between the instructions linked to their meaning. The study offered, illustrated with examples from the Frantext corpus, reinforces the hypothesis that a methodological framework inscribed in the Theory of Stereotypes and the Theory of Polyphony can have very interesting applications in the search for relationships between related operators of a same language and different languages., Ce travail approfondit les équivalences de hélas en espagnol et s’inscrit dans le cadre des approches comparatives récentes liées aux théories linguistiques de l’énonciation.

- Abstract
Starting from an investigation of degree2, in this article we will analyze the way in which, as researchers, we approach, define, understand and support the methodological framework to produce knowledge in social sciences, more specifically in the field of Cultural Management. By understanding that methodology is one of the constitutive elements in the construction of knowledge, designing an investigation whose fundamental purpose was to interpret the processes of configuration of empirical cultural managements in articulation with decolonial perspectives, implied from the beginning a positioning, both in the conceptual, as in the methodological. In this sense, and in the light of the experience of field work anchored in the research design, we propose to reflect on the complicities present between the methodological framework and the enactment of the inhabited / habitable territory that emerges in the action of research. For this, we propose / evidence / share three movements, which as researchers we carry out in the methodological design and which, far from offering a series of general guidelines, are disposed to recover the concrete experience of this research that comprises the methodological approach as constitutive of the point of view., Partiendo de una investigación de grado 2, en este artículo analizaremos la forma en que, como investigadores nos acercamos, definimos, comprendemos y apoyamos en el marco metodológico para producir conocimiento en ciencias sociales, más específicamente en el campo de la Gestión Cultural.

Objectives: The main goal of the present study was to promote an understanding of the role of environment in explaining frequency of participation of pre-school children in home and community activities. Method: Parents of 116 children from completed an adapted version of the Young Children's Participation and Environment Measure (YC-PEM). Pre-school teachers assessed child functioning. Results: Maternal education was significantly related to the child's frequency of participation in home and community activities. Child functioning had an indirect effect on frequency of participation in home activities through perceived environmental barriers by parents. In the community setting, child functioning was a predictor of the parents' perception of environmental barriers and there was no evidence of a mediating effect of perceived environmental barriers. Conclusion: These findings highlight the importance of modifying specific environmental factors to promote child participation and functioning.
