Based in references that discuss the educational, social and cultural role of poetic writing in public schools, this article describes and debates the actions that support a nighttime soiree held annually at a state school in the municipality of São Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is intended to bring together poetic productions created by students based on some workshops held. In addition to the motivational and awareness-raising purpose for writing, the Night Soiree favors the meeting of poets, alumni, the school community and teaching professionals from school units, enabling reflections that explore alternative ways to deal with vulnerabilities and social ills that deprive and invade the human spirit. From the observations collected in the years 2023 and 2024, it is possible to verify that the collaborative work of Sarau Noturno corroborates the emergence of sensibilities and stimulates writing, potentially reducing the damage of social stigmas and prejudices, allowing different transversal contemporary themes come to light and be debated in schools.
