U knjizi se obrađuje crkva-špilja sv. Ante Opata u kanalu sv. Ante na rijeci Krki. U prvom dijelu knjige istražuje se štovanje sv. Ante Opata na istočnom Jadranu, te donose povijesni izvori o špilji sv. Ante. Nakon opisa lokaliteta, autori u knjizi analziraju sačuvane kamene elemente crkve (kamenicu, bočni oltar, glavni oltar, dvije glave, predromanički ulomak). U zasebnom poglavlju analizira se razdoblje 1. patronata, onog obitelji Soppe Papalić, te potom 2. patronata, obitelji Draganić Vrančić. Slijedi poglavlje posvećeno šibenskim pustinjacima, s naglaskom na pustinjake špiljske crkve sv. Ante. Posebna pažnja posvećena je istraživanju grobova pronađenih u špilji tijekom arheoloških istraživanja, te kada je riječ o ljudskom osteološkom materijalu - demografskim karakteristikama i patološkim promjenama utvrđenim na iskopanom materijalu. Posljednji dio knjige posvećen je razdoblju od 1929. do recentnog vremena kada je špilja funkcionirala kao bunker. Ukratko, špilja sv. Ante sa svojim neposrednim okolišem "iznimno je zanimljiv lokalitet duge i kompleksne povijesti koji na jednom mjestu objedinjuje više aspekata spomeničke baštine: od prirodnog speleološkog objekta, preko crkve, eremitorija i lazareta, do vojnog punkta".

The Bribir-Ostrovica karst polje is one of a series of karst poljes in Ravni Kotari region in Dalmatia filled with lake sediments. They are surrounded with Cretaceous and Paleogene carbonate rocks and Eocene flysch. The central parts of the poljes are filled with Quaternary lake sediments, while the edges are covered with colluvial and alluvial sediments (sands and pebbles). The distribution of lake sediments in the Bribir-Ostrovica polje was analyzed based of geomorphological characteristic of the polje and the analysis of the undisturbed lake sediment sequences at three sites. Lake sediments contain a record of past environmental changes. Lake sedimentation depends on the surface water inflow and terrigenous material input from the surrounding basin, and climatic conditions. Lake sediments are used in archaeological studies for the reconstruction of a paleoenvironment of the area and in recent times are used in geoacrheology. The lake sediments indirectly point to the environmental changes that took place near archeological sites that could have had an impact on the movement of people in the past. Paleolimological study involve a multi- proxy approach through sedimentological, mineralogical, geochemical and micropaleontological analysis of lake sediment core. The OSP-3 sediment core contains lake sediments in a total length of 472 cm, spanning to 13200 years BC. During this period, in the Bribir-Ostrovica polje the lake-wetland environment was developed and thus during the Neolithic period (6000-4000 years BC). The Neolithic settlement in Krivače archaeological site existed near the lake environment. Changes in sedimentation of lake carbonates and siliciclastic material point to a dynamic environment and changes in climatic conditions. Lake carbonate sedimentation is characterized by the deposition of endogenic calcite from the water column due to favorable biochemical conditions of lake water. It is indicative for a warm climatic conditions and a deeper lake environment, recorded in the period from 10000 to 8000 BC. The Ostracod assemblage points to a dynamic, shallow environment under the influence of erosional processes and cold climatic conditions in older lakes sediments. It gradually decreases and converts into assemblage typical for shallow lakes and wetlands in younger lake sediments. Based on the geomorphologic characteristic of the polje and the analysis of lake sediment core, the paleolake in the Bribir-Ostrovica polje could not be deeper than 6 m. The thickest lake sediments are assumed in the geomorphologically lowest part of the terrain, west of Mount Školj, in the area that floods in wet periods at present times. Proximal parts of the polje, as well as the area within the archaeological site of Krivače, contain alluvial and colluvial sediments, deposited by streams that created a system of pools within the tufa barriers. Lake as a permanent water body could not be developed in the polje south of the Brbišnica River, west of Brbirske Mostine, due to higher elevation and slope relief. More likely, a cascade of smaller periodical lakes/ponds were formed separated by tufa barriers and flowing water. Paleolimnological study of lake sediments in the Bribir-Ostrovica polje can indirectly point to the paleoenvironment that prevailed in the period when Neolithic site in Krivače was inhabited.

This book investigates the expansion of farming from its centre of origin in western Asia through the Mediterranean into southern Europe. Focussing on Dalmatia, it addresses several key questions, including when and how farming reached the area, what was the nature of this new economy, and what was its impact on the local environment.

U članku su predstavljeni rezultati arheološkog iskopavanja neolitičkog nalazišta Rašinovac kod Ždrapnja u Piramatovačkom polju (zaleđe grada Skradina, sjeverna Dalmacija). Na dotad nepoznatom nalazištu je 2013. godine otvorena probna sonda dimenzija 2 x 2 m s ciljem utvrđivanja stratigrafije te određivanja njegove kronološke pripadnosti. Rašinovac je jednoslojno naselje na otvorenom iz impreso faze što je potvrđeno analizom materijalne kulture (pretežito lončarije i litike). Sudeći po dvama radiokarbonskim datumima, Rašinovac pripada najranijim do sada poznatim nalazištima ranog neolitika na ovom području (prvo stoljeće 6. tisućljeća pr. Kr.).

Presentation and discussion of recent work on sourcing obsidian artifacts from archaeological sites in coastal Croatia.

Obsidian stone tools were used in Croatia starting in the Early Neolithic period (ca. 6000 BC), with the the closest geological sources being in northeastern Hungary, Slovakia, and some of the Tyrrhenian islands of Italy. While some obsidian artifacts had been found long ago, research on prehistoric sites has increased tremendously in the past two decades since Croatia became independent. Along the Adriatic coast (Dalmatia), obsidian has been found in significant quantities at the excavated sites of Danilo, Pokrovnic and Krivace in southeastern Croatia, at sites in Istria including Kargadur, and on the islands of Sušac and Palagruža. Obsidian has also been found in large quantities at sites in northern Croatia such as Samatovci. Overall, this demonstrates significant and regular exchange or contact between Croatia and other parts of Europe, by land and/or by sea. Starting in 2001, chemical analysis has been conducted on more than 250 obsidian artifacts from Croatia, in addition to many geological samples from the Italian island sources of Lipari, Palmarola, Pantelleria and Sardinia, from Carpathian Basin sources in the Tokaj mountains of Hungary and Lower Zemplín of Slovakia, and the Aegean island of Melos. Trace element analyses in particular have been shown to distinguish not only between these sources, but also subsources for each. Analyses were conducted using a portable, non-destructive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (pXRF), which provides quantitative trace element data. The results obtained show that obsidian artifacts in Croatia came from just two main sources, Lipari for sites along the Adriatic, and Lower Zemplín (Slovakia) for sites in northern Croatia. Only a handful of Carpathian obsidian artifacts have been identified in southern Croatia. Significantly, all of the Lipari artifacts come from the Gabellotto subsource, and all but one of the Carpathian artifacts came from Viničky. Overall, it was found that obsidian from Carpathian sources made its way to Adriatic sites in Istria as well as at Danilo and Pokrovnik in southeastern Croatia, but in small percentages compared to Lipari obsidian. The sites tested in northern Croatia, however, had obsidian only from the Carpathian sources, with none from Lipari or elsewhere. These results are combined with other studies for the European/Mediterranean neolithic to evaluate the patterns observed, and integrate the data for obsidian with movement of other materials including ceramics. This study exemplifies the importance of analyzing a significant number of artifacts in order to make strong interpretations about ancient cultures and their socioeconomic systems.

Predočenim istraživanjem obrađeni su prapovijesni grobovi iz nekropole gradine Velike Mrdakovice iz okolice šibenskog Zatona. Riječ je o pet grobova iz najstarijeg razdoblja pokopavanja iz vremena starijeg željeznog doba. Njihova će analiza i sinteza poslužiti kao ishodištem za potpunije poznavanje duge, bogate i promjenjive povijesne vertikale njezinih korisnika i baštinika. Grobovi su tipom pokopavanja općenito usklađeni sa svojstvenim ritualima za prostor šibenske regije i srednjeg jadranskog priobalja. Međutim, zbog pokopavanja u ispruženom položaju odstupaju od prevladavajućeg načina na matičnom području Liburna. Većinu prikupljene građe materijalne kulture predstavljaju predmeti osobne nošnje i nakita pokojnika koji su u širem smislu tipološke klasifikacije pripisani liburnskoj kulturi. Shodno njihovoj dosadašnjoj kulturnoj interpretaciji, razvrstani su u mušku i žensku nošnju pri čemu istupaju nalazi igala i fibula, te kolutastog nakita i jantarnih zrna. S kronološkog aspekta nadalje, njihovom se interpretacijom razlikuju dva okvirna razdoblja pokopavanja. Starije grobove, obilježavaju oni s velikom fibulom s jantarnim zrnom na luku, a mlađe grobove, oni s nadmoćnošću fibule tipa protocertosa s kuglicom na kraju nožice. Unatoč dvojnom ili višekratnom pokopavanju građa pokazuje određeniji vremenski okvir, što sugerira na istovremeno ili vrlo kratko naknadno pokopavanje, interpretirano u smislu užih obiteljskih grobova. U sinkronizaciji s periodizacijom liburnske kulture, pokopavanje sa starijim grobovima odvijalo se u vremenu II. A i B stupnja, a ono mlađe u vremenu kraja III. i IV. kulturnog stupnja prema klasičnoj periodizacijskoj shemi. Sukladno tipološko-kronološkoj analizi građe u odnosu na istovremene pojave u kulturama jadranskog bazena, u sintezi se predlaže revidirana relativna i viša apsolutnokronološka shema za prostor Liburnije.

Since the first archaeological finds were found by chance, archaeological excavations at Danilo started in 1951 on the initiative of the director of renewed museum in Šibenik, prof. Frane Dujmović. The first and the most longevous leader of the excavations was Duje Rendić-Miočević. Since then, with shorter and longer breaks, the excavations and conservatory works carried out to date. Besides the academician Duje Rendić-Miočević, in the excavations participated well known experts like Josip i Paola Korošec, Vladimir Mirosavljević, Ivan Marović, Franjo Dujmović, Marin Zaninović, Aleksandra Faber, Marija Šmalcelj, Ivana Iskra Janošić, Zdenka Dukat, Ivan Mirnik, Ante Rendić-Miočević, Ivan Šarić, Zlatko Gunjača, Zdenko Brusić and others. During the campaigns many sites on this area have been investigated dating from prehistory to the middle Ages.

Na širem šibenskom području u posljednjih šezdesetak godina istraživano je šest neolitičkih naselja na otvorenom (Vrbica, Konjevrate, Pokrovnik, Danilo - Bitinj, Krivače i Čista Mala - Velištak) koji pokrivaju vremenski raspon od rane impreso kulture, preko danilske, do klasične hvarske kulture. U ovom prilogu donosimo pregled nepokretnih nalaza na navedenim nalazištima, među kojima se zastupljeni različiti tipovi nadzemnih i ukopanih tvorevina.

Arheološko nalazište Čista Mala – Velištak otkriveno je 2007. go dine, te od tada traje sustavno istraživanje toga kasnoneolitičkog naselja. U prilogu je opisana stratigrafska slika dosad istraženog prostora ukupne površine 87, 5 m2. Veći broj nepokretnih nalaza (ukopanih jamskih i drugih tvorevina, segmenata podnica od nabijene ilovače, vatrišta i dr.) definiran je na različitim dubinama, što sugerira da je naselje sukcesivno obnavljano. Na temelju preliminarne analize keramičkih nalaza, nalazište je datirano u razdoblje rane faze klasične hvarske kulture, što je potvrđeno dvama radiokarbonskim datumima koji daju vremenski okvir od oko 4900.-4700. prije Krista.

Dacitni ignimbrit je kamen vulkanskog podrijetla. U području Sredozemlja pripada u geološke raritete, a jedno od primarnih ležišta ubicirano je u blizini sela Brušane kod Gospića. Na temelju mikroskopskih i kemijskih analiza ulomaka glačanog predmeta nepoznate datacije s otoka Paga i uzoraka dacitnog ignimbrita iz ležišta u okolici Brušana, ustanovljeno je da je ovaj kamen u prošlosti korišten kao sirovina za izradbu alatki.

Predmeti od dacitnog ignimbrita, uzimanog u srcu Like, dospjeli su do Stare Povljane na otoku Pagu po trgovačkom pravcu aktivnom tijekom željeznog doba koji je povezivao područje Japoda s Liburnima, Venetima, Grcima i drugim etnicitetima uključenima u pomorsku trgovačku mrežu na Jadranu.
