Élément naturel capable de détruire et/ou de bâtir un écosystème, l’eau configure une déclinaison possible de la ville dans l’écriture de l’extrême contemporain où la notion de liquide en amplifie les conditions d’instabilité. Il s’agit d’étudier les mécanismes de flux et de reflux – qui recréent l’urbain – pour mettre à l’épreuve du littéraire la notion de ville-fleuve et saisir ainsi la spécificité d’une écriture fluviale qui se ferait fractale pour dire la quête d’un espace durable.

Benché rappresentata nel 1498, l’Égloga de las grandes lluvias appare nella quarta edizione del Cancionero de las obras de Juan del Enzina pubblicata a Salamanca nel 1507. Si tratta di una rappresentazione natalizia che connette materia pastorale e biblica e mette in scena uno dei momenti topici della natività. Tuttavia, il mondo pastorale descritto prima dell’Annunciazione è stravolto dall’azione catastrofica di una pioggia battente a cui i protagonisti fanno ossessivo riferimento. La pioggia che stravolge l’idillio della aldea di Encina rimanda al lungo periodo di nubifragi che si abbatterono su Salamanca nel 1498 e che originarono una delle inondazioni più tragiche della storia del fiume Tormes. Il contributo si focalizza sui significati dell’Égloga, partendo dalla funzione nodale delle piogge nella struttura dell’opera e indagando in che modo il racconto della calamità sia anzitutto la rappresentazione di una tragedia collettiva contemporanea che mostra un interesse rilevante del teatro di Encina per la storia passata e presente. In secondo luogo, questo studio analizza come il carattere ierofanico e punitivo attribuito alle grandi piogge testimoni di una connessione più complessa tra materia biblica e pastorale e tra significati manifesti e allegorici. Inoltre, si prova a comprendere come nel mondo flagellato dalle piogge, il dominio del caos e della fortuna sembrano rilevare un interessante e poco sondato rapporto diretto con la fonte petrarchesca. Cependant, le monde pastoral décrit avant l’Annonciation est déformé par l’action catastrophique d’une pluie battante à laquelle les protagonistes font obsessionnellement référence. La pluie qui perturbe l’idylle de l’aldea d’Encina rappelle la longue période de tempêtes qui s’est abattue sur Salamanque en 1498 et a provoqué l’une des inondations les plus tragiques de l’histoire du fleuve Tormes. L’article se concentre sur les significations de l’Égloga, en partant de la fonction nodale des pluies dans la structure de l’œuvre et en étudiant comment l’événement calamiteux est avant tout la représentation d’une tragédie collective qui traduit l’intérêt significatif du théâtre d’Encina pour la narration de l’histoire passée et présente. En second lieu, cette étude analyse comment le caractère hiérophanique et punitif attribué aux grandes pluies témoigne d’un lien plus complexe entre le sujet biblique et la matière pastorale, entre les significations manifestes et les sens allégoriques. Il s’agit en outre de comprendre comment, dans un monde terrassé par les pluies, la domination du chaos et de la fortune trahit une relation directe et méconnue avec le modèle pétrarquien. Although performed in 1498, the Égloga de las grandes lluvias appears in the fourth edition of the Cancionero de las obras de Juan del Enzina published in Salamanca in 1507. It is a Christmas play that draws on both pastoral and biblical material and depicts one of the most topical moments of the nativity. However, the pastoral world described before the Annunciation is distorted by the catastrophic action of driving rain to which the protagonists obsessively refer. The rain that disrupts the idyll of the aldea of Encina harks back to the lengthy period of storms that hit Salamanca in 1498 and caused one of the most tragic floods in the history of the River Tormes. The article focuses on the meanings of the Égloga, starting from the nodal function of the rains in the structure of the work and investigating how the calamitous event is first and foremost the representation of a collective tragedy that reflects the deep interest of the Encina theatre in the narration of past and present history. Secondly, it analyses how the hierophanic and punitive character attributed to the great rains shows a more complex connection between biblical and pastoral subject matter and between manifest and allegorical meanings. Furthermore, an attempt is made to understand how the dominance of chaos and fortune in a world scourged by rains reveals a direct and little-explored relationship with the Petrarchan model.

Floods and droughts are the two main risks in France and require a special attention. In these conditions, where climate change generates increasingly frequent extreme phenomena, modeling these risks is an essential element for water resource management.Currently, discharges and water heights are mainly predicted from physical or conceptual based models. Although efficient and necessary, the calibration and implementation of these models require long and costly studies.Hydrogeological forecasting models often use data from incomplete or poorly dimensioned measurement networks. Moreover, the behavior of the study basins is in most cases difficult to understand. This difficulty is thus noted to estimate the uncertainties associated with hydrogeological modeling.In this context, this thesis, supported by IMT Mines Alès and financed by the company aQuasys and ANRT, aims at developing models based on the systemic paradigm. These models require only basic knowledge on the physical characterization of the studied basin, and can be calibrated from only input and output information (rainfall and discharge/height).The most widely used models in the environmental world are neural networks, which are used in this project. This thesis seeks to address three main goals:1. Development of a model design method adapted to different variables (surface water flows/height) and to very different types of basins: watersheds or hydrogeological basins (groundwater height)2. Evaluation of the uncertainties associated with these models in relation to the types of targeted basins3. Reducing of these uncertaintiesSeveral basins are used to address these issues: the Blavet basin in Brittany and the basin of the Southern and Central Champagne Chalk groundwater table.; Les crues et les sécheresses sont deux des risques majeurs en France et nécessitent une attention particulière. Dans ces conditions où le changement climatique engendre des phénomènes extrêmes de plus en plus fréquents, la modélisation de ces risques est désormais un élément incontournable pour la gestion de la ressource en eau.Actuellement, les débits ou hauteurs d’eau sont principalement anticipés à partir de modèles à base physique ou conceptuelle. Bien qu’efficaces et nécessaires, la calibration et la mise en œuvre de ces modèles nécessitent la réalisation d’études longues et coûteuses.Dans ce contexte, cette thèse, soutenue par l’IMT Mines Alès et conjointement financée par la société aQuasys et l’ANRT, a pour objectif de développer des modèles issus du paradigme systémique. Ceux-ci nécessitent uniquement des connaissances a priori basiques sur la caractérisation physique du bassin étudié, et qui peuvent être calibrés à partir des seules informations d’entrées et de sorties (pluies et débits/hauteurs).Les modèles les plus utilisés dans le monde environnemental sont les réseaux neuronaux, qui sont utilisés sur ce projet. Cette thèse cherche à répondre à trois objectifs principaux :1. Élaboration d’une méthode de conception de modèle adaptée aux différentes variables (débits/hauteur des eaux de surface) et à des bassins de types très différents : bassins versants ou bassins hydrogéologiques (hauteur des eaux souterraines)2. Réduction de ces incertitudesPlusieurs bassins sont utilisés pour répondre à ces problématiques : la nappe du bassin du Blavet en Bretagne et le bassin de la nappe de la Craie de Champagne sud et Centre.

During the eighties, atmospheric sciences have experimented a deep change, induced by weather satellite system and new computing facilities. Obviously quantitative precipitation estimation (QPE) methods have been part of this evolution. Despite the high space and time variability of rainfall events, several QPE operational products are now available. However these products show significant differences and their accuracy is an open issue.These well known discrepancies motivated an in-deep QPE methods description. First of all, the rainfall process physical basis are recalled with a focus on various phenomena scale. Then some example of QPE operational use are presented in order to make visible their different expectations on delivered data. The measurement system is described in two parts : ground-based and satellite-based. The first one includes both raingauges and radioelectric indirect measurements and the second deals with radar, passive microwave and thermal infrared. In these parts data analysis algorithms are discussed. Then the algorithm trees of the main QPE procedures are presented. We conclude on the future of QPE products which should be specialized on an operational frame. This frame should take into account the main precipitation type, the user requirements and the available technical facilities.; Les sciences de l’atmosphère ont connu une mutation profonde dans les années 1980 avec l’apparition d’un système de satellites météorologiques et la montée en puissance de moyens de traitement. Aussi, les méthodes d’estimation des pluies ont progressivement évolué en relation avec la mise en place de ces nouveaux dispositifs d’observation. Malgré la grande variabilité, dans l’espace et dans le temps, des phénomènes pluviogènes, plusieurs produits opérationnels de mesure des précipitations sont aujourd’hui disponibles. Toutefois ces produits peuvent diverger notablement et leur degré de fiabilité reste difficile à évaluer.Pour analyser la source de ces divergences, ce travail présente synthétiquement ces méthodes de mesure. En premier lieu, des rappels de la physique des précipitations permettront d’évoquer la diversité des divers phénomènes précipitants et de leurs environnements atmosphériques. Puis, à travers quelques exemples d’utilisation, sera mis en évidence la relation entre les échelles spatio-temporelles de résolution et les contraintes opérationnelles associées à un type d’application. Le dispositif de mesure sera ensuite traité dans deux parties. La première sur le dispositif sol traitera aussi bien des mesures directes que de celle fondées sur des propriétés radio-électriques des hydrométéores. La seconde sur les capteurs satellitaires traitera du radar, des micro-ondes passives et de l’infrarouge thermique. Dans ces deux parties les algorithmes d’interprétation des mesures indirectes seront discutés. Enfin, diverses procédures d’élaboration des produits opérationnels seront analysées. La conclusion met en évidence la nécessaire spécialisation des produits de précipitations dont l’efficacité dépend d’un contexte d’exploitation, tenant compte à la fois des caractéristiques physiques du domaine considéré et de la nature de l’information attendue par l’exploitant.

The effects of spatial variability of rainfall, geomorphology, and climatology of precipitation and temperature on the hydrologic response remain poorly understood. This study characterizes the catchment response in terms of a variable called flashiness, that describes the severity of the flood response as the rate of rise of the unit discharge. It overcomes limitations of prior works based on limited case studies or simulations by gathering information on basins of widely varying characteristics and by using a high-resolution rainfall and flooding event data set spanning 10years over the Continental United States. The objective is to develop a robust understanding of how rainfall spatial variability influences flash flood severity and to assess its contribution relative to basin physiography and climatology. This study explores the first-order dependencies as well as the variability in these relationships and investigates the complex interactions using a multi-dimensional statistical modeling approach. The results confirm that the spatial organization of rainfall influences the basin response on par with geomorphology and climatology. Basin physiography dampens the effect of lower rainfall intensities, while higher rainfall overwhelms other factors and primarily contributes to flashiness. Dispersion of precipitation with respect to the flow path decreases flood severity. An improved understanding of sub-basin scale rainfall spatial variability aids in developing a robust flash flood severity index to identify and mitigate flash flooding situations as well as identifying basins which could most benefit from distributed hydrologic modeling.

Nowadays, vision systems are becoming more and more used in the road context. They ensure safety and facilitate mobility. These vision systems are generally affected by the degradation of weather conditions, like heavy fog or strong rain, phenomena limiting the visibility and thus reducing the quality of the images. In order to optimize the performance of the vision systems, it is necessary to have a reliable detection system for these adverse weather conditions.There are meteorological sensors dedicated to physical measurement, but they are expensive. Since cameras are already installed on the road, they can simultaneously perform two functions: image acquisition for surveillance applications and physical measurement of weather conditions instead of dedicated sensors. Following the great success of convolutional neural networks (CNN) in classification and image recognition, we used a deep learning method to study the problem of meteorological classification. The objective of our study is to first seek to develop a classifier of time, which discriminates between "normal" conditions, fog and rain. In a second step, once the class is known, we seek to develop a model for measuring meteorological visibility.The use of CNN requires the use of train and test databases. For this, two databases were used, "Cerema-AWP database" (https://ceremadlcfmds.wixsite.com/cerema-databases), and the "Cerema-AWH database", which has been acquired since 2017 on the Fageole site on the highway A75. Each image of the two bases is labeled automatically thanks to meteorological data collected on the site to characterize various levels of precipitation for rain and fog.The Cerema-AWH base, which was set up as part of our work, contains 5 sub-bases: normal day conditions, heavy fog, light fog, heavy rain and light rain. Rainfall intensities range from 0 mm/h to 70mm/h and fog weather visibilities range from 50m to 1800m. Among the known neural networks that have demonstrated their performance in the field of recognition and classification, we can cite LeNet, ResNet-152, Inception-v4 and DenseNet-121. We have applied these networks in our adverse weather classification system. We start by the study of the use of convolutional neural networks. The nature of the input data and the optimal hyper-parameters that must be used to achieve the best results. An analysis of the different components of a neural network is done by constructing an instrumental neural network architecture. The conclusions drawn from this analysis show that we must use deep neural networks. This type of network is able to classify five meteorological classes of Cerema-AWH base with a classification score of 83% and three meteorological classes with a score of 99%Then, an analysis of the input and output data was made to study the impact of scenes change, the input's data and the meteorological classes number on the classification result.Finally, a database transfer method is developed. We study the portability from one site to another of our adverse weather conditions classification system. A classification score of 63% by making a transfer between a public database and Cerema-AWH database is obtained.After the classification, the second step of our study is to measure the meteorological visibility of the fog. For this, we use a neural network that generates continuous values. Two fog variants were tested: light and heavy fog combined and heavy fog (road fog) only. The evaluation of the result is done using a correlation coefficient R² between the real values and the predicted values. We compare this coefficient with the correlation coefficient between the two sensors used to measure the weather visibility on site. Among the results obtained and more specifically for road fog, the correlation coefficient reaches a value of 0.74 which is close to the physical sensors value (0.76)., De nos jours, les systèmes de vision sont de plus en plus utilisés dans le contexte routier. Ils permettent ainsi d'assurer la sécurité et faciliter la mobilité. Ces systèmes de vision sont généralement affectés par la dégradation des conditions météorologiques en présence de brouillard ou de pluie forte, phénomènes limitant la visibilité et réduisant ainsi la qualité des images. Afin d'optimiser les performances des systèmes de vision, il est nécessaire de disposer d'un système de détection fiable de ces conditions météorologiques défavorables.Il existe des capteurs météorologiques dédiés à la mesure physique, mais ils sont coûteux. Ce problème peut être résolu en utilisant les caméras qui sont déjà installées sur les routes. Ces dernières peuvent remplir simultanément deux fonctions : l'acquisition d'images pour les applications de surveillance et la mesure physique des conditions météorologiques au lieu des capteurs dédiés. Suite au grand succès des réseaux de neurones convolutifs (CNN) dans la classification et la reconnaissance d'images, nous avons utilisé une méthode d'apprentissage profond pour étudier le problème de la classification météorologique. L'objectif de notre étude est de chercher dans un premier temps à mettre au point un classifieur du temps, qui permet de discriminer entre temps « normal », brouillard et pluie. Dans un deuxième temps, une fois la classe connue, nous cherchons à développer un modèle de mesure de la distance de visibilité météorologique du brouillard. Rappelons que l'utilisation des CNN exige l'utilisation de bases de données d'apprentissage et de test. Pour cela, deux bases de données ont été utilisées, "Cerema-AWP database" (https://ceremadlcfmds.wixsite.com/cerema-databases), et la base "Cerema-AWH database", en cours d'acquisition depuis 2017 sur le site de la Fageole sur l'autoroute A75. Chaque image des deux bases est labellisée automatiquement grâce aux données météorologiques relevées sur le site permettant de caractériser diverses gammes de pluie et de brouillard. La base Cerema-AWH, qui a été mise en place dans le cadre de nos travaux, contient cinq sous-bases : conditions normales de jour, brouillard fort, brouillard faible, pluie forte et pluie faible. Les intensités de pluie varient de 0 mm/h à 70 mm/h et les visibilités météorologiques de brouillard varient entre 50m et 1800m. Parmi les réseaux de neurones connus et qui ont montré leur performance dans le domaine de la reconnaissance et la classification, nous pouvons citer LeNet, ResNet-152, Inception-v4 et DenseNet-121. Nous avons appliqué ces réseaux dans notre système de classification des conditions météorologiques dégradées. En premier lieu, une étude justificative de l'usage des réseaux de neurones convolutifs est effectuée. Elle étudie la nature de la donnée d'entrée et les hyperparamètres optimaux qu'il faut utiliser pour aboutir aux meilleurs résultats. Ensuite, une analyse des différentes composantes d'un réseau de neurones est menée en construisant une architecture instrumentale de réseau de neurones. La classification des conditions météorologiques avec les réseaux de neurones profonds a atteint un score de 83% pour une classification de cinq classes et 99% pour une classification de trois classes.Ensuite, une analyse sur les données d'entrée et de sortie a été faite permettant d'étudier l'impact du changement de scènes et celui du nombre de données d'entrée et du nombre de classes météorologiques sur le résultat de classification.Enfin, une méthode de transfert de bases de données a été appliquée. Cette méthode permet d'étudier la portabilité du système de classification des conditions météorologiques d'un site à un autre. Un score de classification de 63% a été obtenu en faisant un transfert entre une base publique et la base Cerema-AWH. (...)

Dans la nuit du 6 au 7 octobre 2014, des cellules orageuses peu mobiles se sont organisées sur le nord montpelliérain et ont déversé jusqu'à 260 mm de pluie en 4 heures. Survenant sur un sol relativement saturé, ces pluies ont provoqué de fortes crues de la Mosson et du Lez. Les inondations ont été particulièrement dommageables dans le village de Grabels, où un lotissement a été submergé par le Rieu Massel (affluent de la Mosson) avec des hauteurs d'eau dans les maisons atteignant 1,5 m, malgré la présence d'un barrage écrêteur de crue en amont du bassin. Dans cet article, nous présentons les résultats du retour d'expérience conduit sur cet événement avec des débits estimés sur 15 sections de petits bassins non jaugés. Ces débits sont ensuite comparés à ceux obtenus lors d'autres retours d'expérience récents, et à ceux estimés par diverses formules régionales. L'inventaire des pluies intenses survenues autour de Montpellier au cours de la période 1970-2014 incite à réviser les normes d'aménagement actuellement en vigueur dans la région, qui paraissent sous-estimer les pluies et les débits de fréquence rare. In the night of 6-7th October 2014, static storm cells stood over the North of Montpellier, and poured up to 260 mm of rain in 4 hours. Due to previous saturation of the soils, this rain caused major floods on the Mosson and Lez watersheds. The biggest damages occurred in Grabels where a part of the city was submerged by the Rieu Massel (a Mosson river tributary). The water level reached up to 1.5 m in some houses despite a flood retention dam upstream. In this paper we present the results of the post flood survey of this event, dealing with 15 peak discharge estimations on ungauged streams. Then we compare these peak discharge to those obtained from other recent post-flood surveys in South of France for the one hand, to those derived from regional formulas on the other hand. The relative frequency of such events during the period 1970-2014 suggests that the estimations of intense rainfalls and critical peak flows are underestimated in Montpellier area, and should be updated.

However, the solar panels located above the cultivated plots also have a seemingly yes unexplored effect on rain redistribution, sheltering large parts of the plot but redirecting concentrated fluxes on a few locations. The spatial heterogeneity in water amounts observed on the ground is high in the general case; its dynamical patterns are directly attributable to the mobile panels through their geometrical characteristics (dimensions, height, coverage percentage) and the strategies selected to rotate them around their support tube. A coefficient of variation is used to measure this spatial heterogeneity and to compare it with the coefficient of uniformity that classically describes the efficiency of irrigation systems. A rain redistribution model (AVrain) was derived from literature elements and theoretical grounds and then validated from experiments in both field and controlled conditions. AVrain simulates the effective rain amounts on the plot from a few forcing data (rainfall, wind velocity and direction) and thus allows real-time strategies that consist in operating the panels so as to limit the rain interception mainly responsible for the spatial heterogeneities. Such avoidance strategies resulted in a sharp decrease in the coefficient of variation, e.g. 0.22 vs. 2.13 for panels held flat during one of the monitored rain events, which is a fairly good uniformity score for irrigation specialists. Finally, the water amounts predicted by AVrain were used as inputs to Hydrus-2D for a brief exploratory study on the impact of the presence of solar panels on rain redistribution at shallow depths within soils: similar, more diffuse patterns were simulated and were coherent with field measurements.

Shade trees stimulate many pathways that influence disease development in opposite directions, and that, in addition, may interact with environment. To better understand shade trees effects on coffee leaf rust (CLR), we studied three disease stages separately: sporulation, uredospore wash-off by rain, and uredospore deposition on leaves. The study was conducted during almost one year in the long-term trial on coffee-based agroforestry systems established by CATIE in 2000, in Turrialba, a low altitude area of Costa Rica. We only used the Full Sun and Shade provided by Chloroleucon eurycyclum treatments. For studying sporulation, we harvested diseased leaves every three weeks and collected the uredospores present on the lesions. For assessments of uredospore wash-off, we located containers at ground level below the coffee bushes and in the interval between rows of coffee bushes, and removed them after rainfall events (43 rainfall events studied) to count the number of uredospores collected. For uredospore deposition, we used varnish to capture deposited uredospores on apparently healthy coffee bush leaves (55 dates). We also studied the raindrop kinetic energy by using splashcups, on 19 rainy days. The number of uredospores produced and preserved was 2.22 times higher below shade trees than in full sun, whereas the number of uredospores lost by wash-off, below the coffee bush, was 1.62 times lower. Reduced wash-off was probably due to raindrop interception by shade trees and stemflow and to the increased kinetic energy of the raindrops in the understory of the Shade treatment (twice as high as that measured in full sun), which reduced the capacity of coffee leaves to intercept raindrops. In addition, we found 1.43 times more uredospores deposited on apparently healthy leaves below shade trees than in full sun, partly due to the higher number of uredospores produced and preserved below shade trees. Increasing throughfall and reducing raindrop kinetic energy below shade trees seem crucial to improved CLR regulation. This can be achieved by selecting specific shade tree functional traits and by implementing shade pruning during the rainy season.

Ce rapport présente les estimations de débits effectuées suite aux crues des 23-24 novembre et 1er décembre 2019 qui ont notamment touché les départements du Var et des Alpes Maritimes. Ces crues ont causé de très importants dégâts. Une enquête de terrain post-crue a été menée et a permis de produire 16 estimations de débits de pointe sur les différents affluents touchés par ces crues (cours d'eau non jaugés).

Introducing permanently an associated crop in rubber plantations may improve biodiversity and soil cover, optimize resource use, and diversify farmer's income. However, the associated crop may also compete with the rubber trees for resources such as space and water. The case of bamboo-rubber agroforestry system is peculiar, as bamboos present features common to both grasses and trees, they grow fast and are considered strong competitors for water. Soil organic matter and water content, bulk density, root distribution, canopy cover, and rain interception were studied on farm to understand the effects of bamboo intercropped in rubber tree plantation, compared with rubber monoculture in southern Thailand. In the rubber-bamboo association, soil water content was lower in shallow depth, whereas it increased in deeper horizons. There was no significant difference in fine root distribution of rubber trees with or without bamboo; therefore, the total root density (rubber + bamboo) was higher in the association. Canopy cover and rain interception were also higher in association with bamboo. Further studies are required to better understand in this system, the balance between higher superficial water use and increased water retention in lower soil depth, together with more specific studies on soil properties, tree development, and latex yield.

International audience; Much effort has been spent on formulating guidelines for inorganic fertilizer use in millet crops in Sub-sahelian farms. However, these guidelines do not take into account the diversity of manuring practices. In this study we analyzed over two years (2016–2017) the use efficiency of an inorganic NPK fertilizer as affected by the two most contrasted categories of organic manure strategies (OMS) found in millet fields of central Senegal. 19 farmers’ fields were selected in a village typical of that region, 11 and 8 of which respectively corresponding to categories OMS1 and OMS2 as follows: OMS1, locally referred to as Homefields, were fields continuously cropped with millet over the last 15 years, having received organic manure regularly in the past, and manured again at the onset of the 2016 rainy season. OMS2 fields locally referred to as Outfields, were not manured in 2016 and were rarely manured in the past. Four of them were continuously cropped with millet and the others had followed a triennial millet-peanut-fallow rotation. In 2017, no manure was applied in any of the OMS1 or OMS2 fields. A pairwise treatments with and without the same inorganic fertilizer dose was applied in each field in both 2016 and 2017 cropping seasons. In 2016, the higher the manure application, the higher the use efficiency of the inorganic fertilizer applied. The use efficiency of the inorganic N was most closely related to soil bulk density and P availability. In 2017, with no new manure amendment, millet yield in OMS1 was about three times higher than in 2016. It was close to the water-limited yield, suggesting that the residual effect of the manure applied in 2016 was high. The use efficiency of the inorganic N was generally low under these conditions. In OMS2, millet yield and use efficiency of inorganic fertilizer remained low in both years. The crop rotation with peanuts did not enrich the soil compared to the millet returning every year, but it reduced Striga hermontica infestation and increased the millet 1000-grain weight. The methodological approach developed here may help in formulating guidelines to deal with the diversity of farming practices in Sub-sahelian villages.

Conférence SHF « de la prévision des crues à la gestion de crise », Avignon, FRA, 14-/11/2018 - 16/11/2018; National audience; Le programme international de recherche HyMeX (Hydrological cycle in the Mediterranean eXperiment, www.hymex.org), composante du chantier multi-organisme MISTRALS lancé pour 10 ans en 2010, a pour objectif de progresser dans la compréhension du cycle de l'eau en Méditerranée, et notamment d'améliorer les connaissances et la prévision des risques hydrométéorologiques. L'étude et la prévision des épisodes de pluies intenses et crues rapides qui affectent régulièrement le pourtour Méditerranéen sont au coeur du programme HyMeX. Après une présentation de la stratégie générale d'observations qui a combiné campagnes de mesures, renforcement d'observations pendant plusieurs automnes et collectes de données socio-hydrologiques après les évènements majeurs qu'a connu la région sur la période, une revue d'ensemble des avancées scientifiques réalisées depuis le lancement d'HyMeX est proposée tant en termes de connaissances et modélisation des épisodes méditerranéens de pluie intense et de leurs impacts, qu'en termes d'évaluation et amélioration des méthodes et systèmes de prévision, et plus particulièrement les systèmes de prévision d'ensemble hydrométéorologiques à courte échéance basés sur le modèle de prévision météorologique AROME de Météo-France.
