The analytical expressions for the cross-spectral density matrix elements of the partially coherent elegant Laguerre–Gaussian (eLG) vortex beam propagating through anisotropic turbulent plasma were derived based on the extended Huygens-Fresnel principle and used to study the changes in the polarization degree and the coherence degree of the partially coherent eLG vortex beam in the turbulent plasma. The numerical results show that the polarization degree of a partially coherent eLG vortex beam reaches a specific value (which is equal to the degree of polarization in the source plane) after a long propagation distance in the turbulent plasma. Moreover, this value is independent of the beam order, topological charge, correlation coefficient, wavelength of the source plane, anisotropy parameter, refractive index fluctuation variance, and outer and inner scales of the turbulent plasma. The results also show that with increasing distance, the coherence degree first decreases from unity and then oscillates around zero. However, this oscillation gradually disappears after traveling a long distance. Our results intuitively present the beam polarization and coherence properties through anisotropic hypersonic turbulence, which can be useful for optical communication in hypersonic turbulent environments. Magnetic holes at the ion-to-electron kinetic scale (KSMHs) are one of the extremely small intermittent structures generated in turbulent magnetized plasmas. In recent years, the explorations of KSMHs have made substantial strides, driven by the ultra-high-precision observational data gathered from the Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) mission. This review paper summarizes the up-to-date characteristics of the KSMHs observed in Earth's turbulent magnetosheath, as well as their potential impacts on space plasma. This review starts by introducing the fundamental properties of the KSMHs, including observational features, particle behaviors, scales, geometries, and distributions in terrestrial space. Researchers have discovered that KSMHs display a quasi-circular electron vortex-like structure attributed to electron diamagnetic drift. These electrons exhibit noticeable non-gyrotropy and undergo acceleration. The occurrence rate of KSMH in the Earth's magnetosheath is significantly greater than in the solar wind and magnetotail, suggesting the turbulent magnetosheath is a primary source region. Additionally, KSMHs have also been generated in turbulence simulations and successfully reproduced by the kinetic equilibrium models. Furthermore, KSMHs have demonstrated their ability to accelerate electrons by a novel non-adiabatic electron acceleration mechanism, serve as an additional avenue for energy dissipation during magnetic reconnection, and generate diverse wave phenomena, including whistler waves, electrostatic solitary waves, and electron cyclotron waves in space plasma. These results highlight the magnetic hole's impact such as wave-particle interaction, energy cascade/dissipation, and particle acceleration/heating in space plasma. We end this paper by summarizing these discoveries, discussing the generation mechanism, similar structures, and observations in the Earth's magnetotail and solar wind, and presenting a future extension perspective in this active field. Accretion disks around compact stars are formed due to turbulence driven by magnetorotational instability. Despite over 30 years of numerous computational studies on magnetorotational turbulence, the properties of fluctuations in the inertial range--where cross-scale energy transfer dominates over energy injection--have remained elusive, primarily due to insufficient numerical resolution. Here, we report the highest-resolution simulation of magnetorotational turbulence ever conducted. Our simulations reveal a constant cross-scale energy flux, a hallmark of the inertial range. We found that as the cascade proceeds to smaller scales in the inertial range, the kinetic and magnetic energies tend toward equipartitioning with the same spectral slope, and slow magnetosonic fluctuations dominate over Alfvénic fluctuations, having twice the energy. These findings align remarkably with the theoretical expectations from the reduced magnetohydrodynamic model, which assumes a near-azimuthal mean magnetic field. Alfvén-wave turbulence is known as a plasma heating mechanism associated with the acceleration of fast solar wind, found emanating from open magnetic fields adjacent to coronal holes. In this study, we expand the scope of this mechanism to investigate the thermodynamics of Alfvénic slow solar wind, a phenomenon originating from open fields near a streamer, as observed in recent inner heliospheric missions. We demonstrate a one-dimensional two-fluid model that incorporates three components: (1) low-frequency Alfvén-wave turbulence, serving as the primary dissipation mechanism, (2) a curved magnetic field that reproduces the streamer's boundary, and (3) the kinetic instabilities to address proton temperature anisotropy. Our findings suggest that this dissipation mechanism can be applied in common to both fast and Alfvénic slow solar winds. We identify the proton-cyclotron instability near the Sun and the oblique and parallel firehose instabilities occurring close to 1 au as crucial factors governing temperature anisotropy. Stellar-mass black holes in x-ray binary systems are powered by mass transfer from a companion star. The accreted gas forms an accretion disk around the black hole and emits x-ray radiation in two distinct modes: hard and soft state. The origin of the states is unknown. We perform radiative plasma simulations of the electron-positron-photon corona around the inner accretion flow. Our simulations extend previous efforts by self-consistently including all the prevalent quantum electrodynamic processes. We demonstrate that when the plasma is turbulent, it naturally generates the observed hard-state emission. In addition, we show that when soft x-ray photons irradiate the system—mimicking radiation from an accretion disk—the turbulent plasma transitions into a new equilibrium state that generates the observed soft-state emission. Our findings demonstrate that turbulent motions of magnetized plasma can power black-hole accretion flow coronae and that quantum electrodynamic processes control the underlying state of the plasma. Physical origin of accretion states in black hole X-ray binary systems is an open question. The results of the first gyrokinetic calculations of anomalous heat fluxes in the T-10 tokamak plasma obtained for typical conditions of a discharge no. 71 568 with ohmic heating are presented. The calculations have been performed at the Kurchatov Institute Supercomputer Center. The experimentally measured electron density and temperature profiles, ion temperature profiles with a large gradient leading to the so-called ion temperature gradient (ITG) turbulence, and also the profiles of carbon and oxygen impurity densities measured using the charge exchange recombination spectroscopy (CXRS) active diagnostics are used as input data. The "experimental" electron and ion heat fluxes are estimated from the heat balance condition using the ASTRA transport code. The analytical dependence of heat fluxes on the effective plasma charge is presented. Gyrokinetic calculations of anomalous electron and ion heat fluxes are performed for the T-10 tokamak for the first time. The well-known gyrokinetic GENE code is used in the so-called linear and nonlinear approximation with fixed density and temperature gradients taking into account the influence of carbon and oxygen impurities. A linear dependence of heat fluxes on the effective plasma charge is found, and the sensitivity of the results to input parameter errors is investigated. The results of gyrokinetic calculations for the T-10 tokamak are compared with the results obtained for facilities with similar input parameters. A comparison is made of gyrokinetic calculations of heat fluxes performed using the GENE code with the results of calculations by the CONTRA-T code, intended for the self-consistent simulation of low-frequency turbulence and transport processes in tokamaks with a large aspect ratio. Good agreement obtained in the work between the results of transport calculations using the ASTRA, GENE, and CONTRA-T codes based on various transport models for the ohmic discharge of the T-10 tokamak with a circular cross section, provides grounds for the further simulation of transport processes in plasma with additional heating and a more complex cross section shape of the plasma column. A heavy ion beam probe (HIBP) diagnostic is being developed for studies of plasma equilibrium and turbulence in the optimized Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X) stellarator. Operation of W7-X has experimentally demonstrated that its optimized magnetic field results in improved neoclassical particle confinement and, as a result, turbulence is the predominant cause of energy transport. The HIBP will have the unique ability to provide experimental data needed to complement models of both neoclassical and turbulent transport. It will acquire direct measurements in the W7-X plasma interior of the electric potential (needed for understanding ambipolar particle flux) and fluctuations of electron density and potential (needed for understanding turbulence). The HIBP for W7-X will inject singly charged ion beams with energies of up to 2 MeV and is designed to access the upper cross section of the W7-X plasma. We use trajectory simulations to illustrate the plasma coverage that the diagnostic can achieve in the reference magnetic configurations of W7-X. We calculate beam signal levels, discuss anticipated measurement sensitivity of broadband fluctuations of electron density and plasma potential, and show how they depend on plasma density. To validate nonlinear gyrokinetic simulations of electron temperature turbulence, the experimental correlation electron cyclotron emission (CECE) measurements are to be compared using a synthetic CECE diagnostic, which generates modeled CECE measurement quantities by implementing realistic measurement parameters (e.g., spatial and wavenumber resolutions, radial location, etc.) to nonlinear gyrokinetic simulations. In this work, we calculate the radial and vertical spatial and wavenumber transfer functions, which are defined by the electron cyclotron emission emissivity radial profile and vertical probing antenna pattern, respectively. These transfer functions are applied to nonlinear gyrokinetic simulations of electron temperature turbulence using the continuum gyrokinetic code. A simultaneous comparison of the experimental electron temperature turbulence power spectrum and root-mean-square (RMS) level, as well as the radial correlation length with the new synthetic CECE diagnostic at a core location ρ ∼ 0.75 in an L-mode DIII-D tokamak plasma, is presented. The preliminary result shows that the synthetic CECE output underestimates the RMS level by ∼42% and overestimates the radial correlation length by ∼40%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The linear and nonlinear effects of hydrogen isotope species on ion temperature gradient (ITG) instability in the Large Helical Device (LHD) stellarator are studied using radially global gyrokinetic simulation. We found that the coupling range of linear toroidal harmonics depends on the ion mass of the hydrogen isotope. The growth rates of ITG mode are almost the same for H, D, and T plasmas, indicating a gyro-Bohm scaling of ion-mass dependence. The nonlinear electrostatic simulations show that the zonal flow breaks the radially elongated eigenmode structures and reduces the size of the turbulence eddies, which suppresses the turbulence and the ion heat transport in the LHD. The turbulence amplitude without the zonal flow is almost the same for H, D, and T plasmas, while it decreases with increasing ion mass of the hydrogen isotope when the zonal flow is present. The reduction of the turbulent transport with larger ion mass is mostly due to the enhancement of zonal flows by larger ion mass. De-aliasing is an essential procedure for eliminating the aliasing error in nonlinear simulations, such as nonlinear gyrokinetic turbulence simulations. An ideal approach to de-aliasing in the periodic dimension is the Fourier truncation. Finite difference low-pass filtering applied in the non-periodic direction strongly dampens aliasing modes. At the same time, it induces numerical dissipation in the region of the physically realistic solution. It is shown analytically that the long-wave dissipation coefficient is proportional to the ( N p − 3) power of the wavenumber under desirable constraints satisfying the highest order of accuracy, where N p is the number of filter points. Numerical results after applying the optimized low-pass filtering to the nonlinear gyrokinetic turbulence simulation suggest that the nine-point format preserves intact mesoscopic zonal structures in tokamak plasma, and is therefore suitable for long-time nonlinear turbulence simulations. This study investigates the causal relationships among azimuthal Fourier modes in linear plasma turbulence using multivariate time series models. We elucidate the dynamics of mode interactions in magnetized plasmas by employing the vector autoregressive model and Granger causality analysis. Our analysis, based on data from the plasma assembly for nonlinear turbulence analysis, reveals significant variations in causality with changing pressure conditions. Modes form weakly coupled clusters at lower pressures, while higher pressures lead to stronger coupling and larger clusters. The impulse response function further provides insights into the temporal propagation and nature of influences between modes. This article explores the influence of activation energy and microorganisms on the flow of Jeffrey nanofluid over an electrically conducting stretching surface, considering key factors such as Brownian motion, thermophoresis, Joule heating, and thermal radiation. The fluid dynamics entail a stretching surface subjected to prescribed surface temperature and constant wall surface temperature. Through similarity transformations, the governing equations are solved using MATLAB's bvp4c function. Employing a numerical and perturbative approach, the study examines critical parameters' effects on flow distribution, heat transfer, mass transport, and microorganism density. Graphical illustrations and tabulations are utilized to illustrate these effects, including the elucidation of Nusselt, Sherwood, friction coefficient, and motile microbe. The study's findings hold promise for optimizing processes in environmental remediation, bioengineering, and nanotechnology. In this paper, the design of different dielectric advanced ceramic materials of RF windows for dual-band K-band and Q-band Gyro-TWT has been described. The design methodology of quartz, magnesium aluminate (MgAl2O4) and sapphire dielectric windows of operating TE01 mode for K-band and Q-band Gyro-TWT has been discussed. The simulation result predicts that these windows can handle 100 kW output power and return loss −58.5 dB and insertion loss −0.02 dB. This paper presents the electrical design and thermal analysis of K-band and Q-band dual-band Gyro-TWT amplifier. In the thermal analysis, the maximum temperature has been obtained at the centre of the dielectric disc. The electro-mechanical analysis has also been carried out on the different dielectric windows to achieve stress and displacement. The origin of energetic charged particles in universe remains an unresolved issue. Astronomical observations combined with simulations have provided insights into particle acceleration mechanisms, including magnetic reconnection acceleration, shock acceleration, and stochastic acceleration. Recent experiments have also confirmed that electrons can be accelerated through processes such as magnetic reconnection and collisionless shock formation. However, laboratory identifying stochastic acceleration as a feasible mechanism is still a challenge, particularly in the creation of collision-free turbulent plasmas. Here, we present experimental results demonstrating kinetic turbulence with a typical spectrum k−2.9 originating from Weibel instability. Energetic electrons exhibiting a power-law distribution are clearly observed. Simulations further reveal that thermal electrons undergo stochastic acceleration through collisions with multiple magnetic islands-like structures within the turbulent region. This study sheds light on a critical transition period during supernova explosion, where kinetic turbulences originating from Weibel instability emerge prior to collisionless shock formation. Our results suggest that electrons undergo stochastic acceleration during this transition phase. Rotation/spin of plasma blob in the edge and SOL regions in the presence of interchange plasma turbulence with a finite ion temperature gradient ( $ \nabla _\perp T_i $ ∇ ⊥ T i ) has been presented. $ \nabla _\perp T_i $ ∇ ⊥ T i destabilizes plasma, but damps the eddies related to the plasma blob by enhanced viscosity, therefore, rotation is important for plasma dynamics as the rotation further stabilizes the blobs. The turbulence has been simulated numerically and results show monopolar vorticity is responsible for blob rotation, but the physics is different in the edge and SOL regions. Stochastic equations of hydrodynamic theory of plasma are presened. The article shows that for transfer processes in liquid and gas, on the one hand, and in plasma, on the other hand, there exist sets of stochastic differential equations for substantial quantities based on the equality of measures between deterministic motion and random motion. It is shown that the application of these stochastic equations makes it possible to obtain new theoretical solutions for the occurrence of turbulence also for a plasma as a result of its heating in an external electric field instead of only for a classical gas, as it was proved previously. Theoretical solutions for the conductivity of turbulent plasma during its heating in an external electric field are considered. At a first time taking into account the turbulence parameters theoretical relations for the electron drift velocity and corresponding relations for electron mobility, for the frequency of electron collisions, and for the Coulomb integral are obtained. All theoretical relations are applied to calculate the conductivity during the turbulent heating of plasma in an electric field. Here experiments with hydrogen plasma are being considered. The theoretical explanation of the cause for the existence of a constant conductivity in the field of strength E = 0.6 - 19 V/cm and its fall at 19 < E < 100 V/cm is given. The calculated dependences of plasma conductivity are in satisfactory agreement with experimental data at the electric-field strength in the turbulent region E = 0.6 - 100 V/cm and in the region E < 0.6 V/cm.The equation for the critical electric-field strength is presented. Toroidal Alfvén eigenmodes (TAEs) can transport fusion-born energetic particles out of the plasma volume, thereby decreasing plasma self-heating efficiency and possibly damaging reactor walls. Therefore, understanding TAE destabilization and identifying saturation mechanisms are crucial to achieving burning plasma. Here, a fully gyrokinetic study is employed. In the case studied, the primary drive mechanism is identified as the resonance between the magnetic drifts and the TAE, and this is seen to be disrupted by equilibrium flow shear, which can stabilize the mode by rotating it in the poloidal plane. It is found that zonal flows do not play a significant role in the saturation of these TAEs and that there are no saturation mechanisms present in the local gyrokinetic picture, which are able to saturate the mode at physically relevant transport levels in the case of TAE-only turbulence. Instead, we confirm that the global profile flattening of fast-ion density is the key saturation mechanism. The nonlinear excitation of TAEs traveling along the electron diamagnetic direction and its beating with the ion diamagnetic TAE, resulting in large amplitude oscillations that may help detect TAEs more easily in tokamaks, are also reported. In this manuscript, we investigates the stochastic Davey–Stewartson equation under the influence of noise in It o ^ sense. This equations is a two-dimensional integrable equations, are higher-dimensional variations of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. Plasma physics, nonlinear optics, hydrodynamics, and other fields have made use of the solutions to the stochastic Davey–Stewartson equations. The Sardar subequation method is used that will gives us the the stochastic optical soliton solutions in the form of dark, bright, combine and periodic waves. These exact optical soliton solutions are helpful in understanding a variety of fascinating physical phenomena because of the importance of the Davey- Stewartson equations in the theory of turbulence for plasma waves or in optical fibers. Additionally, we use Mathematica tools to plot our solutions and exhibit a series of three-dimensional, two-dimensional and their corresponding contour graphs to show how the noise affects the exact solutions of the stochastic Davey–Stewartson equation. The present work improves a phenomenological plasma-assisted combustion model by integrating the spatiotemporal distribution of plasma power density, thereby considering the evolution of plasma streamers in the modeling, and subsequently, better predicting the ignition kernel evolution. The improved phenomenological model is validated against experiments representing the plasma discharge and post-discharge ignition kernel evolution. Specifically, the new model demonstrates a more accurate prediction of ultrafast gas heating and O2 dissociation during the plasma discharge, compared to the original model. In addition, the new model is found to closely match the experimental pressure wave and heated channel profiles post-discharge without the need for tuning the energy deposition (unlike the original model), highlighting its accuracy of post-discharge ignition kernel dynamics. The improved phenomenological model is then employed to investigate ignition kernel evolution for a stoichiometric methane-air discharge across various discharge gap configurations. Simulations reveal a non-uniform temperature and streamer distribution progressing from the electrode tips toward the center, contrasting uniform cylindrical discharges previously described in the original model. Streamer propagation is observed to be faster for larger gaps when maintained at the same average electric field for different discharge gaps. The tendency of smaller gaps to produce detached toroidal ignition kernels is observed, while larger gaps promote cylindrical and attached ignition kernels. Interactions between successive ignition kernels from consecutive discharges varied significantly, with the smallest gap (1 mm) promoting the quenching of the preceding ignition kernel due to the initial kernel–kernel separation. The intermediate gap (2 mm) promotes detached kernel growth. In contrast, in the largest gap (4 mm), kernels consistently combine and expand attached to electrodes. The impact of homogeneous isotropic turbulence is also explored, showing the persistence of ignition kernels early on but eventually quenching due to enhanced radical and heat losses with pronounced turbulence intensity. Turbulent transport in magnetically confined fusion plasma has conventionally been analyzed at the ion gyroradius scale based on the microturbulence theory. However, ion-scale turbulence analysis sometimes fails to predict the turbulent transport flux observed experimentally. Microturbulence at the electron gyroradius scale and cross-scale interactions between disparate-scale turbulences are possible mechanisms to resolve this issue. This overview discusses the recent progress in multiscale turbulence studies and presents future perspectives from recent experimental, theoretical, and numerical investigations. The following aspects are highlighted: (1) the importance of electron-scale effects in experiments, (2) the physical mechanisms of cross-scale interactions, (3) modeling electron-scale effects in quasilinear transport models, and (4) the impacts of cross-scale interactions on burning plasmas. The work reported in this paper addresses two aspects. In the first part, numerical simulations are conducted to examine the impact of magnetic equilibrium shaping (elongation and triangularity), on both conventional Ion Temperature Gradient (ITG) modes and Short Wavelength ITG modes. This analysis is performed considering the experimental profiles and parameters of the ADITYA-U tokamak, employing the nonlinear global gyrokinetic Particle-in-Cell code ORB5. The linear and nonlinear collisionless electrostatic simulation of these modes are carried out with kinetic ions and adiabatic electrons. From the linear results, it has been observed that the magnetic equilibrium shaping slighty reduced the growth rates and widened the spectrum, and the maxima of growth rate curve is shifted to higher toroidal wave number. We find that the heat flux is reduced by a significant ≃ 35 % for the true circular magnetohydrodynamic magnetic equilibrium as compared to ad hoc concentric circular equilibrium reported in Singh et al (2023 Nucl. Fusion 63 086029). A further ≃ 10 % reduction in the heat flux is seen with magnetic equilibrium shaping. In the second part, linear collisionless electrostatic simulation studies of ITG coupled with fully kinetic electrons (both trapped and passing electrons are treated kinetically) using a drift-kinetic ordering is performed. It can be seen from the linear results that, in presence of kinetic electrons, the growth rate and real frequency of the ITG mode are increased significantly for ADITYA-U parameters and a mode propagating in the electron diamagnetic direction is identified at high toroidal wavenumbers. Plasma-based water purification involves the transport of reactive species across the gas–liquid interface. This process is limited by slow diffusion driven mass transport of reactive species across the interface. Additionally, the plasma gas–liquid contact area is typically limited, contributing to reduced dose delivery. These key factors make it difficult to scale up the treatment process to input flows of industrial interest. In this work, turbulence is explored as a means to introduce a fine grain structure, thus greatly increasing the interfacial surface area, leading to large property gradients and more efficient mass transport. Such a fine scale structure can also enhance the local electric field. The test apparatus explored in this work is the packed bed reactor that places thin water jets into contact with plasma. It is theorized that introducing turbulence, via increasing Reynolds number in such thin jets, may enhance the effective plasma dose at fixed plasma power. In this work, changes in the flow regime, from laminar to turbulent, of water jets in a packed bed water reactor (PBR) configuration are investigated experimentally. Methylene blue dye, a model contaminant, was tested in the PBR to demonstrate enhanced treatment via reduced treatment times. Plasma surface morphology around the jets noticeably changed with the flow regime, and turbulent flow demonstrated a faster hydrogen peroxide uptake, along with slower temperature, electrical conductivity, and a pH change in a batch treatment process, compared to laminar flow. Abstract A symmetry-breaking in rotational spatial pattern of quasi-periodic solitary oscillations is revealed with tomography measurement of plasma emission, simultaneously with background asymmetry in stationary plasma structure. Although the oscillatory pattern deformation is a natural course in the presence of asymmetry, elaborate analyses identify existence unfeatured nonlinear effects of the background asymmetry, i.e., its nonlinear couplings with harmonic modes of rotational symmetry, to produce non-harmonic mode to break the symmetry and cause the oscillatory pattern to be chaotic. The findings suggest the unrecognized fundamental process for plasmas to be turbulent.

Numerical simulations have been an increasingly important tool in space physics. Here, we introduce an open-source three-dimensional compressible Hall-Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulation code LAPS (UCLA-Pseudo-Spectral, https://github.com/chenshihelio/LAPS). The code adopts a pseudo-spectral method based on Fourier Transform to evaluate spatial derivatives, and third-order explicit Runge-Kutta method for time advancement. It is parallelized using Message-Passing-Interface (MPI) with a "pencil" parallelization strategy and has very high scalability. The Expanding-Box-Model is implemented to incorporate spherical expansion effects of the solar wind. We carry out test simulations based on four classic (Hall)-MHD processes, namely, 1) incompressible Hall-MHD waves, 2) incompressible tearing mode instability, 3) Orszag-Tang vortex, and 4) parametric decay instability. The test results agree perfectly with theory predictions and results of previous studies. Given all its features, LAPS is a powerful tool for large-scale simulations of solar wind turbulence as well as other MHD and Hall-MHD processes happening in space. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Turbulence is a fundamental process that drives mixing and energy redistribution across a wide range of astrophysical systems. For warm (T≈104 K) plasma, the material is partially ionized, consisting of both ionized and neutral species. The interactions between ionized and neutral species are thought to play a key role in heating (or cooling) of partially ionized plasmas. Here, mixing is studied in a two-fluid partially ionized plasma undergoing the shear-driven Kelvin–Helmholtz instability to evaluate the thermal processes within the mixing layer. Two-dimensional numerical simulations are performed using the open-source (PIP) code that solves for a two-fluid plasma consisting of a charge-neutral plasma and multiple excited states of neutral hydrogen. Both collisional and radiative ionization and recombination are included. In the mixing layer, a complex array of ionization and recombination processes occur as the cooler layer joins the hotter layer, and vice versa. In localized areas of the mixing layer, the temperature exceeds the initial temperatures of either layer with heating dominated by collisional recombinations over turbulent dissipation. The mixing layer is in approximate ionization-recombination equilibrium, however the obtained equilibrium is different to the Saha–Boltzmann local thermal equilibrium. The dynamic mixing processes may be important in determining the ionization states, and with that intensities of spectral lines, of observed mixing layers. We investigate two-dimensional (2-D) axisymmetric flow in toroidal geometry, with a focus on a transition between 2-D three-component flow and 2-D two-component flow. This latter flow state allows a self-organization of the system to a quiescent dynamics, characterized by long-living coherent structures. When these large-scale structures orient in the azimuthal direction, the radial transport is reduced. Such a transition, if it can be triggered in toroidally confined fusion plasmas, is beneficial for the generation of zonal flows and should consequently result in a flow field beneficial for confinement. Particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation serves as a widely employed method for investigating plasma, a prevalent state of matter in the universe. This simulation approach is instrumental in exploring characteristics such as particle acceleration by turbulence and fluid, as well as delving into the properties of plasma at both the kinetic scale and macroscopic processes. However, the simulation itself imposes a significant computational burden. This research proposes a novel implementation approach to address the computationally intensive phase of the electrostatic PIC simulation, specifically the Particle-to-Interpolation phase. This is achieved by utilizing a high-speed Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) computation platform. The suggested approach incorporates various optimization techniques and diminishes memory access latency by leveraging the flexibility and performance attributes of the Intel FPGA device. The results obtained from our study highlight the effectiveness of the proposed design, showcasing the capability to execute hundreds of functional operations in each clock cycle. This stands in contrast to the limited operations performed in a general-purpose single-core computation platform (CPU). Space plasma turbulence plays a relevant role in several plasma environments, such as solar wind and the Earth's magnetosphere–ionosphere system, and is essential for describing their complex coupling. This interaction gives rise to various phenomena, including ionospheric irregularities and the amplification of magnetospheric and ionospheric currents. The structure and dynamics of these currents have relevant implications, for example, in studying ionospheric heating and the nature of electric and magnetic field fluctuations in the auroral and polar environments. In this study, we investigate the nature of small-scale fluctuations characterizing the ionospheric magnetic field in response to different geomagnetic conditions. We use high-resolution (50 Hz) magnetic data from the ESA's Swarm mission, collected during a series of high-latitude crossings, to probe the scaling features of magnetic field fluctuations in auroral and polar cap regions at spatial scales still poorly explored. Our findings reveal that magnetic field fluctuations in field-aligned currents (FACs) and polar cap regions across both hemispheres are characterized by different scaling properties, suggesting a distinct driver of turbulence. Furthermore, we find that geomagnetic activity significantly influences the nature of energy dissipation in FAC regions, leading to more localized filamentary structures toward smaller scales. Space plasma turbulence is inherently characterized by anisotropic fluctuations. The generalized k-th order correlation tensor of magnetic field increments allow us to separate the mixed isotropic and anisotropic structure functions from the purely anisotropic ones. In this work, we quantified the relative importance of anisotropic fluctuations in solar wind turbulence using two Alfvénic data samples gathered by the Solar Orbiter at 0.8 astronomical units. The results based on the joined statistics suggest that the anisotropic fluctuations are ubiquitous in solar wind turbulence and persist at kinetic scales. Using the R T N coordinate system, we show that their presence depends on the anisotropic sector under consideration, e.g., the R N and R T sectors exhibit enhanced anisotropy toward kinetic scales, in contrast with the T N . We then study magnetic field fluctuations parallel and perpendicular to the local mean magnetic field separately. We find that perpendicular fluctuations are representative of the global statistics, resembling the typical picture of magnetohydrodynamic turbulence, whereas parallel fluctuations exhibit a scaling law with slope ∼1 for all the joined isotropic and anisotropic components. These results are in agreement with predictions based on the critical balance phenomenology. The centrifugal force effects from toroidal rotation in improved confinement plasmas are analyzed on high- Z impurities in tokamaks. Tungsten (W) transport simulations are performed using the impurity transport code developed in the integrated code TASK. The geometric factors PA and PB are introduced into the neoclassical transport coefficients to include the effects of the toroidal rotation, which come from poloidal asymmetry in the high- Z impurity profiles. Inward neoclassical particle pinch driven by the main ion density gradient is enhanced by the poloidal asymmetry to be the dominant mechanism for W accumulation in the plasma central region. Simulations with experimental plasma profiles show good agreement with the experimental results and first-principle simulation results in the H-mode. In the hybrid mode and advanced mode, the impurity accumulation is enhanced in the internal transport barrier (ITB) regions. The condition to suppress impurity accumulation is investigated by calculating dependencies on the toroidal rotation velocity and ITB position. The neoclassical transport is sufficiently small with the prospected ITER condition of the Mach number of main ions Mi ∼ 0.1. The impurity transport inside the ITB is strongly influenced by competition between the density peaking effect and the temperature screening effect, and the present simulations show suppression of the impurity accumulation with the outer ITB position to improve the plasma performance, due to the relatively larger temperature gradient of the main ion. High-k turbulence (1 < kθρs < 5) spectrograms have been directly measured in density modulation experiments of the EAST tokamak using the collective Thomson scattering diagnostic system. Density-peaking modulation is achieved in Lower Hybrid Wave (LHW) modulation experiments, revealing that the broadband turbulence is sensitive to the power modulation of LHW and the concomitant variation of density-peaking. Additionally, the contributions of 2.45/4.6 GHz LHW to density peaking differ when Neutral Beam Injection (NBI) is on/off, displaying distinct responses of broadband turbulence in low/high frequency ranges. It is found by cross-coherence analysis that the phase angle is negative in cases without NBI, while in NBI cases it can be modulated from negative to positive, indicating a significant transition of radial turbulence propagation. These findings highlight the active control of density-peaking via auxiliary heating in tokamak plasmas and suggest the potential role of high-k turbulence in density-peaking modulation. Collective movements of bacteria exhibit a remarkable pattern of turbulence-like vortices, in which the Richardson cascade plays an important role. In this work, we examine the energy and enstrophy cascades and their associated lognormal statistics using experimental velocity field data. The coherent structure observed on a large scale is due to the presence of the inverse energy cascade, while the kinetic energy is dissipated at all scales, since these active movements occur below the fluid viscosity scale. The forward enstrophy cascade occurs with injection at all scales and may be represented by other nonlinear interactions that are not captured by the existing experimental data. Furthermore, the lognormal statistics for both energy dissipation and enstrophy fields is verified in accordance with the Kolmogorov 1962 refined theory of turbulence. Their scaling exponents can be well described by the lognormal formula with intermittency parameters comparable with those of the three-dimensional hydrodynamic turbulence. The joint analysis of the multifractal measures of the energy dissipation rate and enstrophy follows an ellipse model from the lognormal statistics. Our results confirm the coexistence of the inverse energy cascade and the intermittency correction of the velocity scaling in this active fluid system. An inverse energy cascade diagram below the fluid viscosity is summarized to describe the observed two-dimensional bacterial turbulence. According to classical magnetohydrodynamics, the magnetic fields on the Sun are characterized by huge theoretically calculated time intervals of their ohmic dissipation due to the high inductance caused by the large size of the fields and the high gas kinetic electrical conductivity of the plasma. This is in striking contrast to the observed rapid changes in the structure of solar magnetism. To solve such a contradiction, it becomes relevant to search for new methods of studying magnetized plasma. Research efforts to consider turbulent motions in the plasma ended with the creation of macroscopic magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), within which substantial decreases in the electrical conductivity and magnetic permeability leading to a decrease in the calculated time of reconstruction of global magnetic fields are found. This study aims at calculating the coefficients of turbulent electrical conductivity and turbulent magnetic permeability of the solar plasma and analyzing changes in the spatiotemporal evolution of the global magnetism of the Sun considering these parameters. Macroscopic MHD methods are used for studying the behavior of global electromagnetic fields and hydrodynamic motions in turbulent plasma. For models of the photosphere and convection zone of the Sun, the distributions of the following parameters along the solar radius are calculated: coefficients of kinematic (ν), magnetic (νm), and turbulent (νT) viscosities; hydrodynamic (Re) and magnetic (Rm) Reynolds numbers; gas kinetic (σ) and turbulent (σT) electrical conductivities; and turbulent magnetic permeability μT. The theoretically calculated parameters have the following values: ν = 0.2–10 cm2/s; νm = 6 × 108–8 × 102 cm2/s; νT = 1011–1013 cm2/s; Re = 5 × 1011–5 × 1013; Rm = 104–1010; σ = 1011–4 × 1016 CGS; σT = 109–4 × 1011 CGS; μT = 10–2–4 × 10–5. It is essential that σT σ and μT 1. Calculated turbulent magnetic diffusion DT = c2/4πσTμT turned out to be four to nine orders of magnitude higher than magnetic viscosity coefficient νm = c2/4πσ, which is responsible for the ohmic dissipation of magnetic fields. As a result, it becomes possible to theoretically explain the observed rapid reconstruction of magnetism on the Sun. We have revealed the radial inhomogeneity of turbulent viscosity νT and condition μT 1, which are indicative of the strong macroscopic diamagnetism of the solar plasma. In the lower part of the solar convection zone, the latter performs the role of negative magnetic buoyancy, thereby contributing to the formation of a magnetic layer of a steady state toroidal magnetic field of BS ≈ 3000–4000 G near the bottom of the solar convection zone. Microturbulence in magnetic confined plasmas contributes to energy exchange between particles of different species as well as the particle and heat fluxes. Although the effect of turbulent energy exchange has not been considered significant in previous studies, it is anticipated to have a greater impact than collisional energy exchange in low collisional plasmas such as those in future fusion reactors. In this study, gyrokinetic simulations are performed to evaluate the energy exchange due to ion temperature gradient (ITG) turbulence in a tokamak configuration. The energy exchange due to the ITG turbulence mainly consists of the cooling of ions in the ∇ B -curvature drift motion and the heating of electrons streaming along a field line. It is found that the ITG turbulence transfers energy from ions to electrons regardless of whether the ions or electrons are hotter, which is in marked contrast to the energy transfer by Coulomb collisions. This implies that the ITG turbulence should be suppressed from the viewpoint of sustaining the high ion temperature required for fusion reactions since it prevents energy transfer from alpha-heated electrons to ions as well as enhancing ion heat transport toward the outside of the reactor. Furthermore, linear and nonlinear simulation analyses confirm the feasibility of quasilinear modeling for predicting the turbulent energy exchange in addition to the particle and heat fluxes. Two recent papers, P. H. Yoon and G. Choe, Phys. Plasmas 28, 082306 (2021) and Yoon et al., Phys. Plasmas 29, 112303 (2022), utilized in the derivation of the kinetic equation for the intensity of turbulent fluctuations the assumption that the wave spectra are isotropic, that is, the ensemble-averaged magnetic field tensorial fluctuation intensity is given by the isotropic diagonal form, ⟨ δ B i δ B j ⟩ k = ⟨ δ B 2 ⟩ k δ i j . However, it is more appropriate to describe the incompressible magnetohydrodynamic turbulence involving shear Alfvénic waves by modeling the turbulence spectrum as being anisotropic. That is, the tensorial fluctuation intensity should be different in diagonal elements across and along the direction of the wave vector, ⟨ δ B i δ B j ⟩ k = 1 2 ⟨ δ B ⊥ 2 ⟩ k (δ i j − k i k j / k 2) + ⟨ δ B ∥ 2 ⟩ k (k i k j / k 2). In the present paper, we thus reformulate the weak magnetohydrodynamic turbulence theory under the assumption of anisotropy and work out the form of nonlinear wave kinetic equation. We investigate the core confinement properties of two recently devised quasi-helically symmetric stellarator configurations, HSK and QSTK. Both have been optimized for large critical gradients of the ion temperature gradient mode, which is an important driver of turbulent transport in magnetic confinement fusion devices. To predict the resulting core plasma profiles, assuming a fixed edge temperature, we utilize an advanced theoretical framework based on the gyrokinetic codes GENE and GENE-3D, coupled to the transport code TANGO. Compared to the HSX stellarator, both HSK and QSTK achieve significantly higher core-to-edge temperature ratios, partly thanks to their smaller aspect ratios, with the other part due to more detailed shaping of the magnetic geometry achieved during optimization. The computed core confinement time, however, is less sensitive to core temperature than the fixed edge temperature, simply due to the disproportionate influence, the edge has on stored plasma energy. We, therefore, emphasize the possible benefits of further optimizing turbulence in the outer core region, and the need to include accurate modeling of confinement in the edge region in order to assess overall plasma performance of turbulence optimized stellarators. In addition to their importance in statistical thermodynamics, probabilistic entropy measurements are crucial for understanding and analyzing complex systems, with diverse applications in time series and one-dimensional profiles. However, extending these methods to two- and three-dimensional data still requires further development. In this study, we present a new method for classifying spatiotemporal processes based on entropy measurements. To test and validate the method, we selected five classes of similar processes related to the evolution of random patterns: (i) white noise; (ii) red noise; (iii) weak turbulence from reaction to diffusion; (iv) hydrodynamic fully developed turbulence; and (v) plasma turbulence from MHD. Considering seven possible ways to measure entropy from a matrix, we present the method as a parameter space composed of the two best separating measures of the five selected classes. The results highlight better combined performance of Shannon permutation entropy ( S H p ) and a new approach based on Tsallis Spectral Permutation Entropy ( S q s ). Notably, our observations reveal the segregation of reaction terms in this S H p × S q s space, a result that identifies specific sectors for each class of dynamic process, and it can be used to train machine learning models for the automatic classification of complex spatiotemporal patterns. A methodology to study statistical properties of anomalous transport in fusion plasma is investigated. Three time traces generated by the full-f gyrokinetic code GKNET are analyzed for this purpose. The time traces consist of heat flux as a function of the radial position, which is studied in a novel manner using statistical methods. The simulation data exhibit transport processes with both medium and long correlation length along the radius. A typical example of a phenomenon with long correlation length is avalanches. In order to investigate the evolution of the turbulent state, two basic configurations are studied, one flux-driven and one gradient-driven with decaying turbulence. The information length concept in tandem with Boltzmann–Gibbs and Tsallis entropy is used in the investigation. It is found that the dynamical states in both flux-driven and gradient-driven cases are surprisingly similar, but the Tsallis entropy reveals differences between them. This indicates that the types of probability distribution function are nevertheless quite different since the higher moments are significantly different. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PANDORA (Plasmas for Astrophysics Nuclear Decays Observation and Radiation for Archaeometry) is an INFN project aiming at measuring, for the first time, possible variations in in-plasma β -decay lifetimes in isotopes of astrophysical interest as a function of thermodynamical conditions of the in-laboratory controlled plasma environment. Theoretical predictions indicate that the ionization state can dramatically modify the β -decay lifetime (even of several orders of magnitude). The PANDORA experimental approach consists of confining a plasma able to mimic specific stellar-like conditions and measuring the nuclear decay lifetime as a function of plasma parameters. The β -decay events will be measured by detecting the γ -ray emitted by the daughter nuclei, using an array of 12 HPGe detectors placed around the magnetic trap. In this frame, plasma parameters have to be continuously monitored online. For this purpose, an innovative, non-invasive multi-diagnostic system, including high-resolution time- and space-resolved X-ray analysis, was developed, which will work synergically with the γ -rays detection system. In this contribution, we will describe this multi-diagnostics system with a focus on spatially resolved high-resolution X-ray spectroscopy. The latter is performed by a pin-hole X-ray camera setup operating in the 0.5–20 keV energy domain. The achieved spatial and energy resolutions are 450 µm and 230 eV at 8.1 keV, respectively. An analysis algorithm was specifically developed to obtain SPhC (Single Photon-Counted) images and local plasma emission spectrum in High-Dynamic-Range (HDR) mode. Thus, investigations of image regions where the emissivity can change by even orders of magnitude are now possible. Post-processing analysis is also able to remove readout noise, which is often observable and dominant at very low exposure times (ms). Several measurements have already been used in compact magnetic plasma traps, e.g., the ATOMKI ECRIS in Debrecen and the Flexible Plasma Trap at LNS. The main outcomes will be shortly presented. The collected data allowed for a quantitative and absolute evaluation of local emissivity, the elemental analysis, and the local evaluation of plasma density and temperature. This paper also discusses the new plasma emission models, implemented on PIC-ParticleInCell codes, which were developed to obtain powerful 3D maps of the X-rays emitted by the magnetically confined plasma. These data also support the evaluation procedure of spatially resolved plasma parameters from the experimental spectra as well as, in the near future, the development of appropriate algorithms for the tomographic reconstruction of plasma parameters in the X-ray domain. The described setups also include the most recent upgrade, consisting of the use of fast X-ray shutters with special triggering systems that will be routinely implemented to perform both space- and time-resolved spectroscopy during transient, stable, and turbulent plasma regimes (in the ms timescale). Stochastic equations of the hydrodynamic theory of plasma are presented in relation to strong external fields. It is shown that the use of these stochastic equations makes it possible to obtain new theoretical solutions for plasma as a result of its heating in a strong external electric field. Theoretical solutions for the conductivity of turbulent plasma when heated in an external electric field of 100 V/cm are considered. Calculated values for the electron drift velocity, electron mobility, electron collision frequency, and the Coulomb logarithm in the region of strong electric fields are obtained. Here we consider experiments on turbulent heating of hydrogen plasma in the range of electric field strength of 100 < E < 1000. The calculated dependences of plasma conductivity are in satisfactory agreement with experimental data for heating plasma in a strong electric field. It is shown that the plasma turbulence in the region of strong electric fields E ~1000 V/cm is close to 100%. For the first time, it is confirmed that the derived dependences for collision frequency, drift velocity, and other values include the degree of turbulence of plasma, which makes it possible to correctly describe experimental data for heating plasma even with strong electric fields. In addition, it was determined that the scatter of experimental data may be associated with the variability of the function in the expression for the heat flux density. For the first time, it is shown theoretically that the experimentally determined fact of the possibility of the existence of an approximate constancy of plasma conductivity in the region E = 100–1000 V/cm can occur with an error of ~30%. The results show significant advantages of the stochastic hydrodynamic plasma theory over other methods that are not yet able to satisfactorily as well as qualitatively and quantitatively predict long-known experimental data while taking into account the degree of turbulence. The intense electron‐scale current structures (ECSs) with the current density J ≥ 30 nA/m2 are often observed in the Plasma Sheet (PS) during high‐speed bulk flows. Using MMS observations we have analyzed 41 earthward and 37 tailward flow intervals and found 452 and 754 ECSs distributed over the PS region, respectively. Almost all ECSs are generated by high‐speed electron beams. The duration of ECSs is ≤1 s, and many of them have a half‐thickness L ≤ a few ρe (ρe is the gyroradius of thermal electrons). In such thin ECSs electrons become demagnetized and experience the dynamics like that observed in the electron diffusion region. Strong nonideal electric fields (E') associated with violation of frozen‐in condition for electrons are observed in the ECSs. This results in the intense energy conversion with J·E' up to hundreds pW/m3. The major part of the dissipating energy is transferred to electron heating and acceleration. We suggest that the ECSs are manifestations of kinetic‐scale turbulence driven by the high‐speed ion bulk flows. The inductive electric fields generated by the growing magnetic fluctuations accelerate electron beams which, in turn, generate the ECSs. The ECSs thinning during their evolution, probably, stops for L ≤ a few ρe. Further thinning leads to development of kinetic instability causing the current disruption and strong electric field generation. The last accelerates new electron beams which generate new ECSs in other locations. Thus, the life cycles of the ECSs contribute to energy cascade in turbulent plasma at electron kinetic scales. Based on correlated magnetosphere‐ionosphere (M‐I) conjugate observations of seven events, we study the hot zone developed under short‐circuiting conditions leading (a) to the development of outward Subauroral Polarization Streams (SAPS) or Subauroral Ion Drifts (SAID) electric (E) field and (b) to the various subauroral arcs' absence or presence. Results show (a) the close relations of the hot zone earthward extent and peak ion temperature (Ti) to the magnitude of outward SAPS/SAID E field and (b) the hot zone's high Ti (∼11,000 eV) developed under enhanced plasma turbulence that was (c) generated by the amplified narrow hot ion and electron plasma density peaks, (d) sometimes in plasmaspheric plumes, and that was (e) sometimes further enhanced by the strong auroral kilometric radiation (AKR) waves (f) leading to the development of enhanced SAPS/SAID E field. From these (a–f) findings we conclude for the seven events investigated that (a) the hot zone's development under short‐circuiting conditions was regulated by the kinetic energy of mesoscale plasma flows and that (b) the hot zone created the favorable inner‐magnetosphere conditions during short circuiting (c) for stable auroral red (SAR) arc development by plasma turbulence, which is the common source of heat/suprathermal particles accelerated downward, and (d) in the plasmaspheric plume scenario for SAR arc and Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement (STEVE) arc development by the plumes' enhanced cold plasma populations leading to strong shear flows and thus shear‐flow instabilities well‐known associated with the SAPS/SAR arc and recently regarded as a potential driver mechanism of the STEVE arc. 'This research aims to look at the consequences of diffusion thermo, Hall, ion slip, and radiation absorption on the unsteady MHD turbulent rotational flow of second-grade fluid through porous materials while also regarding the outcomes of the chemical retort and heat absorption. When the ratio between the number of collisions between fluid electrons in a cyclotron and the number of collisions between electrons and atoms is large, Hall effects (the Hall parameter) become important. The regular perturbation approach investigates the outlines of velocity segments, temperature dispersion, and concentration. The statistics for shear stress, the Nusselt numeral, and the Sherwood factor are written down on the panel. Graphs show how changes in different physical parameters cause changes in a fluid's speed, temperature, and concentration patterns. The solar wind forms the largest wind tunnel for plasma and magnetofluid turbulence that is accessible to Earth. It evolves from what is thought to be a turbulent source that continues to drive nonlinear turbulent dynamics as it expands outward via large-scale, energy-containing wind shear and shocks. In the outer heliosphere, once the gradients in the flow have coalesced and they no longer provide an adequate source for the turbulence, the excitation of wave energy by the injection of interstellar pickup ions becomes the dominant source of energy that continues to drive the turbulence. While there are established formalisms for the determination of the strength of the turbulence and the evolution of the turbulent spectra is well-established, the actual nonlinear dynamics that are responsible for its formation and evolution remain unresolved and the subject of considerable debate. We examine the evidence and attempt to illuminate the various theories while demonstrating what is needed to resolve the debates and bring the subject of plasma turbulence into a new level of understanding. A symmetry-breaking in rotational spatial pattern of quasi-periodic solitary oscillations is revealed with tomography measurement of plasma emission, simultaneously with background asymmetry in stationary plasma structure. Although the oscillatory pattern deformation is a natural course in the presence of asymmetry, elaborate analyses identify existence unfeatured nonlinear effects of the background asymmetry, i.e., its nonlinear couplings with harmonic modes of rotational symmetry, to produce non-harmonic mode to break the symmetry and cause the oscillatory pattern to be chaotic. Introduction: In this article, we revisit the pitch-angle scattering equation describing the propagation of energetic particles through magnetized plasma. In this case, solar energetic particles and cosmic rays interact with magnetohydrodynamic turbulence and experience stochastic changes in the pitch-angle. Since this happens over an extended period of time, a pitch-angle isotropization process occurs, leading to parallel spatial diffusion. This process is described well by the pitch-angle scattering equation. However, the latter equation is difficult to solve analytically even when considering special cases for the scattering coefficient. Methods: In the past, a so-called subspace approximation was proposed, which has important applications in the theory of perpendicular diffusion. Alternatively, an approach based on the telegraph equation (also known as telegrapher's equation) has been developed. We show that two-dimensional subspace approximation and the description based on the telegraph equation are equivalent. However, it is also shown that the obtained distribution functions contain artifacts and inaccuracies that cannot be found in the numerical solution to the problem. Therefore, an N-dimensional subspace approximation is proposed corresponding to a semi-analytical/semi-numerical approach. This is a useful alternative compared to standard numerical solvers. Results and Discussion: Depending on the application, the N-dimensional subspace approximation can be orders of magnitude faster. In fusion, the validation of turbulent transport models is undertaken with the goals of making basic physics discoveries as well as for development of new predictive models to improve the operation and enhance the performance of existing and future fusion reactors. A fusion industry is just beginning to emerge globally. Like fission, validation in fusion energy research is a vibrant research area, but unlike fusion, a fission industry exists. The fission power industry motivates validation efforts, often performed at universities with small-scale experiments and advanced models and simulations developed in-house. Because fission research spans basic physics and applications, and addresses near-term and long-term industry interests, validation is thriving. This perspective article describes the validation of turbulent transport models in both fusion research and fission research, draws parallels between the validation methods and techniques used in two areas of the fields, and presents an outlook for thriving university fusion and fission research programs underpinned by a virtual cycle of basic and applied research that supports industry needs as well as tackling intellectual grand challenges. Molecular dynamics has been used to carry out successive cascade simulations on model alloy Fe-Ni-Cr for three distinct primary knock-on atom (PKA) energies to elucidate the earlier experimentally obtained results of ion irradiation studies on SS316 and its Ti-modified version. The PKA energies used for the simulations were calculated using the stopping and range of ions in matter (SRIM-2013) to represent the irradiation of SS316 using 145 MeV Ne, 35 MeV He and 315 keV Ar ions. The simulation has been carried out successively to emulate the progress of irradiation and obtain results as a function of dose. The results for each PKA energy have been analysed to obtain the evolution of defect clusters in terms of their size, different types of dislocations, stacking fault probabilities, etc., in all three cases. Couple-stress nanofluids have multiple potential applications in numerous industrial and engineering sectors, such as energy production, medical diagnostics, thermal control systems, and the aerospace industry. Couple-stress nanofluids have the ability to improve the heat exchange properties and elevate the performance of nuclear power plants, solar panels, and other renewable energy sources. Therefore, in the current analysis, a non-homogeneous nanofluid model is considered to examine the non-Newtonian Casson nanofluid flow across a prolonging sheet. The flow has been studied under the significance of generalized Fourier's and Fick's laws, convective boundary conditions, and the heat source/sink. The modeled equations are simplified into a dimensionless lowest-order system of ordinary differential equations by using similarity transformation. The numerical outcomes are achieved by using the "ND-Solve" approach. It has been noticed that the energy field decreases because of the Prandtl number's impacts, whereas it increases with the increase in the heat radiation parameter. The couple-stress nanoliquid's velocity decreases vs increasing values of the magnetic field and mixed convection parameter. The influence of thermal relaxation and couple-stress parameters falls off the energy field. We have investigated space and astrophysical phenomena in nonrelativistic laboratory plasmas with long high-power lasers, such as collisionless shocks and magnetic reconnections, and have been exploring relativistic regimes with intense short pulse lasers, such as energetic ion acceleration using large-area suspended graphene. Increasing the intensity and repetition rate of the intense lasers, we have to handle large amounts of data from the experiments as well as the control parameters of laser beamlines. Artificial intelligence (AI) such as machine learning and neural networks may play essential roles in optimizing the laser and target conditions for efficient laser ion acceleration. Implementing AI into the laser system in mind, as the first step, we are introducing machine learning in ion etch pit analyses detected on plastic nuclear track detectors. Convolutional neural networks allow us to analyze big ion etch pit data with high precision and recall. We introduce one of the applications of laser-driven ion beams using AI to reconstruct vector electric and magnetic fields in laser-produced turbulent plasmas in three dimensions.
