Since the notion of the Anthropocene entered the discourse of environmental humanities, it has prompted multiple conceptual innovations. This paper focuses on one such case: the term planetary – and the adjacent genre of planetary thinking – theorized by a broad range of scholars. The original contribution of this paper lies in developing an astronomical concept of the planet, derived from the definition agreed by resolution 5A 2006 of International Astronomical Union, which defines planets based on their dynamical context. By means of philosophical interpretation of the definition's underlying assumptions, this paper articulates standalone philosophical implications of the astronomical concept: the contextualization of the planet in expanded ecology of the solar system, paired with the understanding of the planet as a structure of phase gradients and as a historical natural kind. Furthermore, I position the astronomical concept alongside theorizations of the planet by Latour, Stengers, Clark & Szerszynski as well as Chakrabarty, touching upon the Gaia hypothesis or the concept of geological history. Finally, I encourage deeper disciplinary interaction between astronomy and environmental humanities. The benefits of this interaction are highlighted in the concluding discussion concerning the multiplicity of planetary narratives and applications of the astronomical concept of the planet. The term “planetary turn” was coined in 2015 to describe a significant and ongoing shift in the relationship between humans and the Earth, which has been unfolding since the late 20th century. Despite its profound significance, this transformative process lacks a comprehensive theoretical framework, necessitating the development of a new perspective. The planetary turn has brought about substantial changes in our connection with the Earth, particularly in terms of our existence and our efforts to understand it from a planetary standpoint. Addressing the challenges posed by planetary issues requires a distinct mode of thinking. This article begins by offering a concise explanation of the concept of the “planetary turn,” followed by an exploration of a significant consequence of this shift: a profound transformation in the human condition. Additionally, an argument is presented, asserting that this transformation unfolds within the crucial context of liminality characterizing the Anthropocene era. The final section delves into Chakrabarty’s ideas on the development of planetary thinking, that can provide guidance as we navigate the transition from the Anthropocene to the post-Anthropocene era, aiming to surpass the current state of liminality in the human condition.

Drawing on a critical reflection on the long-lasting debates of rural-urban dichotomy, we argue for a reconceptualisation of the rural that emphasises the ever-evolving and multifaceted nature of rurality to explore alternative pathways of rural revitalisation through non-urban-centric planetary thinking. Instead of viewing the rural and the urban as two contrasting and competing categories, we advocate for planetary thinking that looks beyond spatial boundaries and volumetric changes to focus on the co-evolving multiple trajectories of human-nature interaction, with a particular emphasis on rural transformation. Our propositions are three-fold. First, as an integral and indispensable component of the planetary system, the sustainable and equitable development of the rural is of planetary significance. The harmonious human-nature relations embodied in rural practices hold the key to tackling anthropogenic challenges. Second, rurality is constantly rejuvenated and enriched by new economic and sociocultural practices and technological innovations along with its urban counterpart, during which ruralisation and urbanisation are intersecting and co-evolving at the planetary scale. Third, rural communities are important nodes of the planetary networks of resources, people, information, and knowledge connected through multi-directional flows in which the agency of rural communities is increasingly being recognised and strengthened. We then present a field experiment of green development in Shishou, central China to exemplify how this reconceptualisation helps to foster virtuous urban-rural interactions in response to national and global changes to unleash the potentials of the countryside through sustainable revitalisation approaches. While the green development experiment in Shishou is far from ideal, the project demonstrates major breakthroughs concerning rural-urban relations and the multifaceted rurality. These new approaches to rural revitalisation hold the hope for nurturing endogenous growth through empowering local communities and catering to indigenous needs while addressing planetary challenges, which can eventually be scaled up to wider regions and further afield. • Introducing non-urban-centric planetary thinking to reconceptualise the rural. • Focusing on the evolving trajectories of human-nature interactions rather than the spatial boundaries and volumetric changes. • The sustainable and equitable development of the rural is of planetary significance. • Rurality is constantly rejuvenated and enriched by new economic and sociocultural practices and technological innovations • Rural communities are important nodes of the planetary networks connected through multi-directional flows. 8. Social after pandemic distortion: Towards thinking in planetary terms

Along with climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic represents a specific planetary event, with surprising effects that require a rethinking of the social. The paper starts from the thesis that the pandemic essentially undermines modernity and the institutions of sovereignty, geopolitics and political economy due to their essential separation from non-human things. In the second part of the paper four propositions for a better understanding of planetary events are offered, including removing the difference of parts/wholes, non-relational thinking, rejecting the difference between global and local, and understanding collectives as constantly made in a continuum of humans and non-humans. Finally, the importance of speculation as the basis of planetary thinking is considered. There is a need to revise scientific practice and enhance its sensitivity to recognizing heterogeneous attachments of humans and non-humans in planetary settings.

- Abstract
This article discusses the need to move beyond the context of the Anthropocene and de-center the human as an orienting strategy that situates us in the future of ecological thinking and aesthetic and technopolitical action. Specifically, it explores the potential of fictions of techno diversity shown from contemporary artistic practice, understood as a stimulating space for staging alternative futures of terraforming, which heterogeneously and inclusively imagine our coexistence with the non-human otherness., Este artículo habla sobre la necesidad de superar el contexto del Antropoceno y descentrar lo humano como una estrategia de orientación que nos sitúe frente al futuro del pensamiento ecológico y la acción estética y tecnopolítica.

In this article the context of the formation of some important elements of Heidegger’s philosophy of technology is presented. The parallels between Heidegger’s and Ernst Cassirrer’s, Ernst Jünger’s and Oswald Spengler’s philosophical reflection on the process of industrialisation are discussed. While discussing the connections of their conceptions the development of characteristic Heideggerian articulation of industrialisation process comes to the fore, as well as of some important themes of Heidegger’s philosophy of technology: planetary scope of modern technology’s reach and impact and the notion of technology as destiny of the West and modern humanity in general.

The research is devoted to the theoretical substantiation and practical implementation of the innovation chain "education - research - educational projects - innovation development" in the preparation of future researchers-specialists of the high technical school, able to navigate in vast amounts of information, critically evaluate them, possessing planetary thinking, make responsible decisions in modern globalized world. It is determined that understanding the present situation, prospects and vectors of the modern system of higher technical education requires a constructivist understanding of the entire educational process of higher education, which should focus not on the transfer of static knowledge, but to form innovative technology of work with information on which students can receive their own and adequate knowledge of today's pace of world development, to form integrated skills and intellectual skills. It is proved that the main changes in the construction of higher technical education should be based on principles similar to the principles of business building and knowledge orientation, which really bring success in modern society, and the basic conditions for the development of planetary thinking in the process of vocational training in VTZZ are: the formation of critical thinking and ability to solve problems, creativity and innovative skills, ability to cooperate, informational education, contextual learning skills.
