Although blockchain is a relatively new concept, it has become an important part of various industries such as fintech, healthcare, real estate, and supply chain. Thus, it is essential to educate the workforce of tomorrow on this new technology to ensure that students are prepared for the challenges of the competitive job market after graduation. This study aims to start a dialogue on curriculum innovation in higher education by examining current trends and course offerings. We analyzed 266 R1 and R2 institutions in the US and found that only a small number of them offer such courses. Thus, our next steps would be to provide some guidance for curriculum innovation, as well as pedagogical strategies that can reflect the dynamic nature of the IS field. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the US high school system, foreign language is an important requirement but under-resourced. With the ever-increasing diverse workforce, there is a need to leverage foreign language skills to prepare students to become global citizens. In this study, we explore the relationship between language teaching in high schools and how language course offerings are related to the needs of the surrounding communities. By utilizing spatial tools and data visualizations, we demonstrate problems in the education system like estimating the types of courses to be offered based on the demands of the population. We selected Orange County as the site for our study. We found that only four out of the top ten languages are currently offered in the county's school districts. We hope that this research will provide school districts a better view on the language needs of the community so they can offer courses that fit with these needs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A person who is not mentally sound typically has a difficult time integrating with the community and society around and this is especially true for young adults as they are going through changes both socially and physically. The current study is focused on developing the design and message framing of a mobile application that aims to promote mental well-being among young adults between 18 and 24 years old. Our application is intended to create awareness within oneself that there might be some mental health issues and to suggest possible steps to alleviate the problem. The goal of the application is to give holistic remedies in order to restore mental well-being among young adults and encourage them to reach out to providers if they feel their issues are more serious. Hacktivism is the intersection between activism and hacking. It covers operations that use hacking techniques against a target with the intent of disrupting normal business operations without causing as serious damages as cyberterrorism (Denning 2001). However, according to Coleman (2011) hacktivists engage more frequently in illegal, rather than legal, computer activities. There are various types of illegal activities, for instance, web sit-ins and virtual blockades such as distributed denial of services (DDoS attacks), automated email bombs, web hacks, computer break-ins, computer viruses, and worms. All together, they are different forms of electronic civil disobedience (ECD). In the era of social media and increased technology integration, hacktivism has been considered a new way to express civil disobedience (Delmas 2018). While the damages caused by hacktivism may not seem as devastating as those caused by cyberterrorism, hacktivism has risen in prominence and popularity. It has crossed national borders and is considered a tool for influencing foreign policy (Denning 2001). It may seem tempting to think of hacktivists as vigilantes who serve the weak and underrepresented, or the 99% (Smallridge et al. 2016). However, we have to consider the socioeconomic impact of their actions. When it comes to hackers' motivation, there are three main dimensions: socio-cultural, economic, and political (Gandhi et al. 2011). The Arab Spring is an example of how technology can be utilized to address complex global political problems. Anonymous, a decentralized international hacktivist group, provided an outlet for many oppressed citizens to express their opinion and to seek social justice. In addition to the social impact, we have to consider the financial implications of hacktivism. It is difficult to quantify the monetary value of inoperable, defaced, and down websites, leading to ruined reputation, and loss of political stability. Some studies show the growing concern of cyberattacks motivated by political and social causes (Bergal 2017). Fazzini (2017) also provided support for the growing trend, warning companies and governments to strengthen their security. Thanks to the prevalence of technology, is a general agreement that these attacks and their associated costs are only going to rise. Thus, we need to further explore these types of attacks. The purpose of the project is to create a taxonomy and organize existing knowledge on cybercrimes against critical infrastructure such as power plants, water treatment facilities, dams, and nuclear facilities. The current study is utilizing Routine Activity Theory (Clarke and Felson 1993; Cohen and Felson 2003) to create a three-dimensional taxonomy (Figure 1). The first dimension, hacker motivation, is related to the offenders which could be politically, socio-culturally, and/or economically motivated. The second dimension represents the cyber, physical, and cyber-physical components of any cyber-physical system (CPS) and is a differentiation of the various aspects of the suitable target. The third dimension, security, is related to the threats, vulnerabilities, and controls that represent the lack of the capable guardian. The focus of the study is to provide recommendations for improving the guardianship aspect of the taxonomy and offer practical advice for security professionals. While similar taxonomies exist, none of them have been verified due to the sensitive nature of the data, so this would be one of the first empirically validated approaches on this topic. The methodology guiding this study is Design Science Research (DSR) (Hevner and Chatterjee 2010). I will be using qualitative data to evaluate the utility and usability of the taxonomy by conducting semi-structured interviews with security practitioners working in critical infrastructure facilities. There has been a growing number of mobile health (mHealth) applications, which leads to concerns about the limits on innovation and discovery as well as the evolving nature of both mobile health and current healthcare delivery. Thus, more balance is needed in the development of medical apps to guarantee both the patients' safety and security and the necessary innovations in the field. The goal of this project is to focus on the development of an applicable evaluation catalog for medical trusted apps in the Google Android operating system. Such a catalog is a significant improvement in terms of safety in the care process. In addition, we offer a conceptual definition and distinction for general medical apps. The catalog is offering universally applicable guidelines which can assist users, providers, and developers of medical software applications in the healthcare sector. The examination of the app trustworthiness is paramount in the treatment of patients in hospitals and clinics, as well as in the use of apps for well-being and self-monitoring. Electronic data requires protection from potential vulnerabilities that may arise from the use of mobile apps. Thus, it is important to observe legal principles and recommendations. We achieve cost savings and optimization of existing work structures by validating apps that are involved in the healthcare process. The presented evaluation catalog presents a positive impact on the application development, categorization, and adds utility to the end users. The overall satisfaction and improvement in clinical processes will, in long-term, change the modern structure of supply. The evaluation catalog addresses the gaps in legal compliance and safe patient care relying on new technologies. We examine weaknesses and areas for improvement and test the medical suitability of the apps. We also evaluate the technical aspects, as they present an important objective and ensure adequate validation of medical apps and attest to the best possible treatment of patients. As apps are becoming an increasingly important part of modern healthcare, medical personnel must be trained and sensitized to the use of private and proprietary services. In many areas of a hospital or in medical practice, it is possible and even desirable to use one or more medical apps. Therefore, the observance of the specifications is essential for the respective field of use. The developed evaluation catalog focuses on these aspects and attempts to regulate the issues in the use of medical apps. References and recommendations to legal matters help to analyze the qualitative and technical implementation on a professional basis. Furthermore, the aim of this tool is to determine the trustworthiness of medical apps.
