Abstract

Language production has often been described as impaired in psychiatric diseases such as in psychosis. Nevertheless, little is known about the characteristics of linguistic difficulties and their relation with other cognitive domains in patients with a first episode of psychosis (FEP), either affective or non-affective. To deepen our comprehension of linguistic profile in FEP, 133 patients with FEP (95 non-affective, FEP-NA; 38 affective, FEP-A) and 133 healthy controls (HC) were assessed with a narrative discourse task. Speech samples were systematically analyzed with a well-established multilevel procedure investigating both micro- (lexicon, morphology, syntax) and macro-linguistic (discourse coherence, pragmatics) levels of linguistic processing. Executive functioning and IQ were also evaluated. Both linguistic and neuropsychological measures were secondarily implemented with a machine learning approach in order to explore their predictive accuracy in classifying participants as FEP or HC. Compared to HC, FEP patients showed language production difficulty at both micro- and macro-linguistic levels. As for the former, FEP produced shorter and simpler sentences and fewer words per minute, along with a reduced number of lexical fillers, compared to HC. At the macro-linguistic level, FEP performance was impaired in local coherence, which was paired with a higher percentage of utterances with semantic errors. Linguistic measures were not correlated with any neuropsychological variables. No significant differences emerged between FEP-NA and FEP-A (p≥0.02, after Bonferroni correction). Machine learning analysis showed an accuracy of group prediction of 76.36% using language features only, with semantic variables being the most impactful. Such a percentage was enhanced when paired with clinical and neuropsychological variables. Abstract

The site of Avella is a precious example of ruined medieval fortification with territorial and landscape values. The width and vulnerability of its masonry remnants require a systematic survey and physical investigation, necessary to any preservation and enhancement strategy planning, so far, not yet extended to the fronts of the fortress and the two walled lines. The understanding of the process, scientifically based, which over time has led the buildings to the present state of fragmentation has the same need. Obtain with expedited methods and customary instruments a photogrammetrically controlled survey, the stratigraphic study of the castle elevations and the processing of a photo-based 3D model is therefore the aim of the paper. Carried out on an interdisciplinary basis, it comes from the extension of the outcomes of a didactic workshop in master's degree courses in Architectural Survey and Restoration Design, held in 2018. The surveying procedure with the drone proved to be the most suitable, also for the possibility of an expeditious and cheaper measurement phase compared to other surveying methods. The results comprise the fortress georeferenced ortho-photomosaic and its photo-based 3D model, then exported both as a point cloud and a 3D mesh. Abstract

The present article offers a contribution to the debate on smart cities, focusing on the concepts of smart governance, smart communities and the involvement of the city's population. There are two reasons why we decided to investigate these issues. The first reason is of a theoretical and methodological nature i.e. it is useful, for the debate on smart cities and smart communities, to develop a method for field research that may help to comprehend how urban populations are informed about the smart city initiatives in their cities. The second one is of an empirical nature and it concerns the possibility of evaluating how the urban population of Milan was provided information on the smart initiatives in the city. A questionnaire analysing how the urban populations of Milan (Italy) was informed about "projects", "practices" and "initiatives" that are included under the smart city umbrella and strongly triggered by EXPO 2015 was submitted to 1330 respondents. The results of this research highlight the fact that, even if the vast majority of the interviewed population uses the ICT in their daily life, awareness of the "smart" initiatives promoted in the in the city is scarce. We studied the sexual reproductive cycles of two clionaid sponges coexisting in a Mediterranean coastal basin (Porto Cesareo, Italy), Cliona viridis and Cliona celata, by analyzing monthly tissue samples of ten specimens of each species collected over a 2-year period. From May to June of the second study year, supplementary samples were taken weekly. Up to 90% of the specimens of C. viridis and 70% of those of C. celata sampled were reproductive during the study. In both species, but particularly in C. viridis, reproductive investment, measured as the percentage of sponge tissue occupied by gametes, was high. Oocytes were present almost year-round in both species, except for a 1–4-month period after zygote release. In contrast, spermatogenesis occurred most frequently in May in both species, when (May– June) oocytes reached their greatest diameters. Cliona viridis and C. celata are hermaphrodites, with oocytes and spermatic cysts coexisting in 10% of the studied individuals in the first year of the study, and in 30% during the second. No developing embryos or larvae were incubated in the sponge tissues, and fertilization was not observed. Temperature may play a role in triggering some important phases of the reproduction of these Cliona, such as oocyte maturation and spermatogenesis, which occurred when water temperature increased from 171C to 251C between May and June.

Abstract

Se ha obtenido el valor del factor K (por nomograma) para 13 suelos representativos de la cuenca alta del arroyo Azul, principal colector del partido. En los valores de K obtenidos se ha encontrado una baja variación (CV=0,20). De las correlaciones con las propiedades evaluadas, la arcilla es la que presenta mejor ajuste (R2 =0,71), seguida de la arena total con R2=0,68. Tanto el limo (R2=0,06) como la cobertura de residuos (R2 =0,01), para la población de datos presentes, tienen una muy baja correlación con K. También son destacables los bajos coeficientes para arenas muy finas (R2=0,20) y materia orgánica (R2=0,10). Las tendencias que muestran las relaciones de textura con K responden bien a los principios teóricos para arcilla, arenas totales y materia orgánica, no así para limos y arenas muy finas. La densidad aparente en los primeros 10 centímetros del perfil, muestra una correlación positiva. Todas las propiedades evaluadas presentan bajo coeficiente de variación (entre 0,10 y 0,34). Se considera que tanto la cuantificación de la erodabilidad, como su relación con algunas propiedades de los suelos pueden contribuir en parte a entender la alta diversidad edáfica, fisiográfica y de manejo, y asumir su complejidad al momento de plantear modelos de cuantificación de la erosión hídrica. También permitiría orientar la medición futura de propiedades, establecer la importancia relativa de las mismas y mejorar las recomendaciones sobre de medidas de manejo de estos suelos, siempre teniendo en cuenta las limitaciones de aplicación que pueda tener el nomograma., Soil erodibility factor (K) values (for nomograph) have been obtained for 13 soils that represent the Azul stream upper watershed, which is the main creek of the District. Values obtained have low variation (cv:0,20). In reference to the correlations with the properties evaluated, clay is the most adjusted to them (R2 =0,71), followed by sand (R2=0,68). Erodibility quantification and its relationship with some soil properties may contribute to understand pedogenic, physiographic and management diversity as well as to consider its complexity in order to develop models of water erosion. Background Multi-element interventions for first-episode psychosis (FEP) are promising, but have mostly been conducted in non-epidemiologically representative samples, thereby raising the risk of underestimating the complexities involved in treating FEP in ‘real-world’ services. Methods/Design The Psychosis early Intervention and Assessment of Needs and Outcome (PIANO) trial is part of a larger research program (Genetics, Endophenotypes and Treatment: Understanding early Psychosis - GET UP) which aims to compare, at 9 months, the effectiveness of a multi-component psychosocial intervention versus treatment as usual (TAU) in a large epidemiologically based cohort of patients with FEP and their family members recruited from all public community mental health centers (CMHCs) located in two entire regions of Italy (Veneto and Emilia Romagna), and in the cities of Florence, Milan and Bolzano. The GET UP PIANO trial has a pragmatic cluster randomized controlled design. The randomized units (clusters) are the CMHCs, and the units of observation are the centers’ patients and their family members. Patients in the experimental group will receive TAU plus: 1) cognitive behavioral therapy sessions, 2) psycho-educational sessions for family members, and 3) case management. Patient enrolment will take place over a 1-year period. Several psychopathological, psychological, functioning, and service use variables will be assessed at baseline and follow-up. The primary outcomes are: 1) change from baseline to follow-up in positive and negative symptoms’ severity and subjective appraisal; 2) relapse occurrences between baseline and follow-up, that is, episodes resulting in admission and/or any case-note records of re-emergence of positive psychotic symptoms. The expected number of recruited patients is about 400, and that of relatives about 300. Owing to the implementation of the intervention at the CMHC level, the blinding of patients, clinicians, and raters is not possible, but every effort will be made to preserve the independency of the raters. We expect that this study will generate evidence on the best treatments for FEP, and will identify barriers that may hinder its feasibility in ‘real-world’ clinical settings, patient/family conditions that may render this intervention ineffective or inappropriate, and clinical, psychological, environmental, and service organization predictors of treatment effectiveness, compliance, and service satisfaction. 42. Valores de erodabilidad (factor K-USLE) para suelos representativos de la cuenca alta del arroyo Azul (partido de Azul- Buenos Aires).

Abstract

Se ha obtenido el valor del factor K (por nomograma) para 13 suelos representativos de la cuenca alta del arroyo Azul, principal colector del partido. En los valores de K obtenidos se ha encontrado una baja variación (CV=0,20). De las correlaciones con las propiedades evaluadas, la arcilla es la que presenta mejor ajuste (R2 =0,71), seguida de la arena total con R2=0,68. Tanto el limo (R2=0,06) como la cobertura de residuos (R2 =0,01), para la población de datos presentes, tienen una muy baja correlación con K. También son destacables los bajos coeficientes para arenas muy finas (R2=0,20) y materia orgánica (R2=0,10). Las tendencias que muestran las relaciones de textura con K responden bien a los principios teóricos para arcilla, arenas totales y materia orgánica, no así para limos y arenas muy finas. La densidad aparente en los primeros 10 centímetros del perfil, muestra una correlación positiva. Todas las propiedades evaluadas presentan bajo coeficiente de variación (entre 0,10 y 0,34).Se considera que tanto la cuantificación de la erodabilidad, como su relación con algunas propiedades de los suelos pueden contribuir en parte a entender la alta diversidad edáfica, fisiográfica y de manejo, y asumir su complejidad al momento de plantear modelos de cuantificación de la erosión hídrica. También permitiría orientar la medición futura de propiedades, establecer la importancia relativa de las mismas y mejorar las recomendaciones sobre de medidas de manejo de estos suelos, siempre teniendo en cuenta las limitaciones de aplicación que pueda tener el nomograma.
