The purpose of this paper is to present the newly-opened High Power Laser Laboratory (HPLL) at the Institute of Plasma Physics and Laser Microfusion (IPPLM). This article describes the laser, the main laboratory accessories and the diagnostic instruments. We also present preliminary results of the first experiment on ion and X-ray generation from laser-produced plasma that has been already performed at the HPLL.

Suburban areas are subjected to particularly strong investment pressure, thus facing the challenge arising from the need to impose new spatial order. Satisfying the residents’ expectations by implementing necessary technical and social infrastructure becomes a priority. Therefore, public investments play an important role in suburban areas.

Robots are becoming an increasingly popular element of the developing technological reality. A companion (social) robot can be defined as an autonomous machine that recognises other robots and people and engages in social interactions. Robots of this type are designed to serve people, so they often act as guides, assistants, companions, guardians, teachers and domestic pets. This study aims to define and operationalise the components and synthetically measure the social awareness (index) concerning the usability of a companion robot in everyday life. A comprehensive new research tool was developed as part of the study in the form of an original standardised interview questionnaire by the CATI/CAWI technique. Empirical studies show that an increase in social acceptance requires that potential consumers be provided with the necessary information to know the technologies better and improve their digital skills related to social robots. Reform creators, government and local government authorities often uncritically accept the results of external examinations as measures of the effectiveness of school teaching. The method of assessing the work of teachers and schools using exam results is often questioned not only by teachers themselves, but also by some academic educators, especially critical ones, who point to non-school causes of differences in achievement, e.g. related to the environment. The article presents the interpretation of the results of the 8th grade exam as dependent on an extracurricular parameter - the wealth of local communities. At the same time, it highlights the need to treat the school as an autonomous institution for which recommendations to improve the quality of work must take into account the status of the local environment. This approach is a continuation of the measurement of the level of school competences carried out in districts managed by local governments, taking into account family capital (in the form of parents’ education). Precise control of quantum structures in hybrid nanocrystals requires advancements in scientific methodologies. Here, on the design of tunable CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 quantum dots are reported by developing a unique discrete phase transformation approach in Cs4PbBr6 nanocrystals. Unlike conventional hybrid systems that emit solely in the green region, this current strategy produces adjustable luminescence in the blue (450 nm), cyan (480 nm), and green (510 nm) regions with high photoluminescence quantum yields up to 45%, 60%, and 85%, respectively. Concentration‐dependent studies reveal that phase transformation mechanisms and the factors that drive CsBr removal occur at lower dilutions while the dissolution–recrystallization process dominates at higher dilutions. When the polymer‐CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 integrated into a field‐effected transistor the resulting phototransistors featured enhanced photosensitivity exceeding 105, being the highest reported for an n‐type phototransistor, while maintaining good transistor performances as compared to devices consisting of polymer‐CsPbBr3 NCs. It is the third publication in the requiem series for middle schools, continuing the two previous publications from 2020 and 2021. The reference to junior high schools in the titles and content of both publications in the field of critical pedagogy was only to make readers aware that the liquidation of these schools did not change anything. The term 'requiem' refers to the contemporary Polish education system. The purpose of this article is to present the ordinary school life of Mathematics teachers working in rural areas as an exemplification of the general relationships presented in the two previous articles. The publication looks at the Covid-19 pandemic from the point of view of teachers, students and their families. The author, contrary to the decision-makers from the Ministry of Education and Science (MEiN) as well as the Ministry of Health (MZ), believes that educational institutions are the real hotspots of the pandemic. On the basis of a detailed analysis of the data provided by the Ministry of Health, contained on the servers of the Statistics Poland (former Central Statistical Offi ce) and the decisions and messages of the Ministry of National Education, the author shows that during the second wave of the pandemic, educational environments were disregarded, which led to numerous problems and tragedies. He indicates there is a need: to conduct analyses which take into account excess mortality and the participation of sick people requiring assistance, to carry out radical changes in the core curriculum as well as in external and internal exams and to verify the protection measures (including UV-C purifi ers) before the beginning of the new school year 2021/2022. The objective of the study was to remind people that science education in lower secondary schools is a typical example of educational window dressing. An analysis of the results of the final lower secondary school examinations is presented, which indicates that nearly half of lower secondary school graduates did not attain 30% of the required competences. The basic disadvantage of the science core curriculum -- the lack of the hypothetical character of natural sciences -- is also pointed out. As a result, problem-based learning has been proposed as a method of repairing science education at the lower secondary school age. The possibility of using the 8 point method and its compliance with the 5E scheme is pointed out. In conclusion, the question is asked: was the elimination of the compulsory educational project for 15-year-old youth premature? Maybe the project should be implemented in the curriculum of grades 6-8 of elementary school. This question will soon be answered in 2 -- 3 years while assessing the effects of school reform. Enterovirus 71 (EV71) is a major public health threat that requires rapid point-of-care detection. Here, we developed a surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS)-based scheme that utilized protein-induced aggregation of colloidal gold nanostars (AuNS) to rapidly detect EV71 without the need for fabricating a solid substrate, Raman labels or complicated sample handling. We used AuNS (hydrodynamic diameter, D H of 105.12 ± 1.13 nm) conjugated to recombinant scavenger receptor class B, member 2 (SCARB2) protein with known affinity to EV71. In the absence of EV71, AuNS-SCARB2 aggregated in biological media and produced four enhanced Raman peaks at 390, 510, 670, and 910 cm-1. In the presence of EV71, the three peaks at 510, 670, and 910 cm-1 disappeared, while the peak at 390 cm-1 diminished in intensity as the virus bound to AuNS-SCARB2 and prevented them from aggregation. These three peaks (510, 670, and 910 cm-1) were potential markers for specific detection of EV71 as their disappearance was not observable with a different dengue virus (DENV) as our control. Furthermore, the Raman measurements from colloidal SERS were more sensitive in probing the aggregation of AuNS-SCARB2 for detecting the presence of EV71 in protein-rich samples compared to UV-vis spectrum measurements. With this facile "anti-aggregation" approach, we were able to detect EV71 in protein-rich biological medium within 15 min with reasonable sensitivity of 107 pfu/mL and minimal sample preparation, making this translatable for point-of-care applications.
