Summary: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease originating from the pilosebaceous unit, in which patients develop painful abscesses, sinus tracts, nodules and scarring, typically in intertriginous areas. Major gaps in our understanding of HS exist, and these may be partially due to the lack of an animal model for experimental studies. We developed an HS xenograft mouse model using human HS lesions grafted onto immunocompromised mice. Although the model had its limitations, several informative lessons were learned, which may contribute to future attempts at an HS animal model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Prices are a central issue in the transition to economic independence, cost-accounting relations, and self-financing. The provision: "The state uses .. prices for the all-around development of economic competition between enterprises" (Article 2, sub-paragraph 4 [of the draft Law on the Socialist Enterprise]) is unquestionably correct. However, does this mean that prices are established administratively, that the State Committee for Prices designates and assigns prices to enterprises, as has been the case up to now, or that the enterprise itself establishes its own prices in accordance with its production costs? If the enterprise is given the right to "establish" prices on its products, how can the state use them "for the all-around development of economic competition"? And another problem arises here: Can the enterprise establish prices, or is this the prerogative of the market, where the interaction of demand and supplyvolatile, ever changing, and impossible to calculate even by the most sophisticated computerdetermines the equilibrium price that simultaneously incorporates the absence of shortages and gluts. The population of adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD) is rapidly increasing. There is limited understanding of location of death and associated disparities in these patients. From 2005-2018, a trend-level analysis was performed using death certificate data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Wide-ranging Online Data for Epidemiologic Research Database, with individual-level mortality data obtained from National Center for Health Statistics. Places of death were classified as hospital, home, hospice facility, nursing home/long-term care and other. A total of 15,507 total deaths were identified in ACHD from 2005-2018 (54% Male, 84% White). ACHD patients were more likely to die in the hospital (64%) compared to general population (41%). Younger decedents (20-34) with ACHD were more likely to die in the hospital, while older decedents (≥65) were more likely to die at Hospice/Nursing facilities. Black and Hispanic patients with ACHD were more likely to die in the hospital compared to White and non-Hispanic patients. A significantly large proportion of ACHD deaths are observed in younger patients and occur in inpatient facilities. Atrial septal defects are among the most common congenital anomalies requiring surgical repair. Thrombus formation after patch-based repair is a recognized complication, usually manifested by an embolic event. However, thromboembolic complications after primary repair of atrial septal defects are exceedingly rare. We present a 38-year-old woman found to have a right atrial mass diagnosed as a myxoma by echocardiography and magnetic resonance imaging 3 years after primary atrial septal defect repair. However, final pathology revealed an organized thrombus. A review of the literature and clinical management of postoperative atrial thrombi are discussed.
