PurposeBoth glucose and albumin are associated with chronic inflammation, which plays a vital role in post-contrast acute kidney injury (PC-AKI). To explore the relationship between random glucose to albumin ratio (RAR) and the incidence of PC-AKI after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).Patients and methodsSTEMI patients who underwent PCI were consecutively enrolled from January, 01, 2010 to February, 28, 2020. All patients were categorized into T1, T2, and T3 groups, respectively, based on RAR value (RAR < 3.377; 3.377 ≤ RAR ≤ 4.579; RAR > 4.579). The primary outcome was the incidence of PC-AKI, and the incidence of major adverse clinical events (MACE) was the second endpoint. The association between RAR and PC-AKI was assessed by multivariable logistic regression analysis.ResultsA total of 2,924 patients with STEMI undergoing PCI were finally included. Terpinen-4-ol (T-4-O) is an important component of tea tree oil and has anti-inflammatory effects. Currently, there are very few studies on the mechanisms by which T-4-O improves lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced macrophage inflammation. In this study, LPS-stimulated mouse RAW264.7 macrophages were used as a model to analyze the effects of T-4-O on macrophage inflammatory factors and related metabolic pathways in an inflammatory environment. The results showed that T-4-O significantly decreased the expression levels of inflammatory cytokines induced by LPS. Cellular metabolism results showed that T-4-O significantly decreased the ratio of the extracellular acidification rate and oxygen consumption rate. Non-targeted metabolomics results showed that T-4-O mainly affected glutamine and glutamate metabolism and glycine, serine, and threonine metabolic pathways. qPCR results showed that T-4-O increased the transcript levels of GLS and GDH and promoted glutamine catabolism. Western blotting results showed that T-4-O inhibited the mTOR and IκB, thereby decreasing NF-κB activity. The overall results showed that T-4-O inhibited mTOR phosphorylation to promote glutamine metabolism and increased cell oxidative phosphorylation levels, thereby inhibiting the expression of LPS-induced inflammatory cytokines.

Abstract Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is a standard therapy for prostate cancer (PCa). Though disseminated disease is initially sensitive to ADT, an important fraction of the patients progresses to castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). For this reason, the identification of novel effective therapies for treating CRPC is needed. Immunotherapeutic strategies focused on macrophages as antitumor effectors, directly enhancing their tumoricidal potential at the tumor microenvironment or their adoptive transfer after ex vivo activation, have arisen as promising therapies in several cancer types. Despite several approaches centered on the activation of tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) in PCa are under investigation, to date there is no evidence of clinical benefit in patients. In addition, the evidence of the effectiveness of macrophage adoptive transfer on PCa is poor. Here we find that VSSP, an immunomodulator of the myeloid system, decreases TAMs and inhibits prostatic tumor growth when administered to castrated Pten-deficient prostate tumor-bearing mice. In mice bearing castration-resistant Ptenpc−/−; Trp53pc−/− tumors, VSSP administration showed no effect. Nevertheless, adoptive transfer of macrophages activated ex vivo with VSSP inhibited Ptenpc−/−; Trp53pc−/− tumor growth through reduction of angiogenesis and tumor cell proliferation and induction of senescence. Taken together, our results highlight the rationale of exploiting macrophage functional programming as a promising strategy for CRPC therapy, with particular emphasis on ex vivo-activated proinflammatory macrophage adoptive transfer. In this work, a new method for failure analysis of electronic components, high speed camera, is used to investigate burnout failure location of GaN HEMTs under RF overdrive stress. Based on the high speed camera system and the RF test system, we can filter out most of the burn flashes, and clearly locate the weak parts of devices. To further explain the burnout mechanism, a long-term (100 h) RF overdrive stress experiment was carried out and the significant degradation was observed. The drain-source current decreases and the threshold voltage drifts forward. These phenomena show that the degradation of RF overdrive stress is based on hot electron effect (HEE), which is related to the electric field. Besides, Electroluminescence (EL) tests are used and the non-uniform but strong luminescence characteristics of the gate were found, which indicates the strong electric field is the main cause of burnout. We also explore the correlation between burnout and ambient temperature. It was found that the influence of ambient temperature on the burnout was limited. At last, a TCAD simulation is carried out to confirm the temperature and electric field distribution in the device when burnout. It can be found that the electric field inside the device exceeded the breakdown electric field of GaN, which further proves that the burnout caused by RF overdrive is mainly due to electric field rather than temperature.

BackgroundCardiovascular tissue engineering (CTE) is a promising technique to treat incurable cardiovascular diseases, such as myocardial infarction and ischemic cardiomyopathy. Plenty of studies related to CTE have been published in the last 30 years. However, an analysis of the research status, trends, and potential directions in this field is still lacking. The present study applies a bibliometric analysis to reveal CTE research trends and potential directions.MethodsOn 5 August 2022, research articles and review papers on CTE were searched from the Web of Science Core Collection with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Publication trends, research directions, and visual maps in this field were obtained using Excel (Microsoft 2009), VOSviewer, and Citespace software.ResultsA total of 2,273 documents from 1992 to 2022 were included in the final analysis. Publications on CTE showed an upward trend from 1992 [number of publications (Np):1] to 2021 (Np:165). The United States (Np: 916, number of citations: 152,377, H-index: 124) contributed the most publications and citations in this field. Research on CTE has a wide distribution of disciplines, led by engineering (Np: 788, number of citations: 40,563, H-index: 105). “Functional maturation” [red cluster, average published year (APY): 2018.63, 30 times], “cell-derived cardiomyocytes” (red cluster, APY: 2018.43, 46 times), “composite scaffolds” (green cluster, APY: 2018.54, 41 times), and “maturation” (red cluster, APY: 2018.17, 84 times) are the main emerging keywords in this area.ConclusionResearch on CTE is a hot research topic. The United States is a dominant player in CTE research. Interdisciplinary collaboration has played a critical role in the progress of CTE. Studies on functional maturation and the development of novel biologically relevant materials and related applications will be the potential research directions in this field.

BackgroundSince the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread throughout the world, many studies on innate immunity in COVID-19 have been published, and great progress has been achieved, while bibliometric analysis on hotspots and research trends in this field remains lacking.MethodsOn 17 November 2022, articles and reviews on innate immunity in COVID-19 were recruited from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database after papers irrelevant to COVID-19 were further excluded. The number of annual publications and the average citations per paper were analyzed by Microsoft Excel. Bibliometric analysis and visualization of the most prolific contributors and hotspots in the field were performed by VOSviewer and CiteSpace software.ResultsThere were 1,280 publications that met the search strategy on innate immunity in COVID-19 and were published from 1 January 2020 to 31 October 2022. Nine hundred thirteen articles and reviews were included in the final analysis. The USA had the highest number of publications (Np) at 276 and number of citations without self-citations (Nc) at 7,085, as well as an H-index of 42, which contributed 30.23% of the total publications, followed by China (Np: 135, Nc: 4,798, and H-index: 23) with 14.79% contribution. Regarding Np for authors, Netea, Mihai G. (Np: 7) from the Netherlands was the most productive author, followed by Joosten, Leo A. B. (Np: 6) and Lu, Kuo-Cheng (Np: 6). The Udice French Research Universities had the most publications (Np: 31, Nc: 2,071, H-index: 13), with an average citation number (ACN) at 67. The journal Frontiers in Immunology possessed the most publications (Np: 89, Nc: 1,097, ACN: 12.52). “Evasion” (strength 1.76, 2021-2022), “neutralizing antibody” (strength 1.76, 2021-2022), “messenger RNA” (strength 1.76, 2021-2022), “mitochondrial DNA” (strength 1.51, 2021-2022), “respiratory infection” (strength 1.51, 2021-2022), and “toll-like receptors” (strength 1.51, 2021-2022) were the emerging keywords in this field.ConclusionThe study on innate immunity in COVID-19 is a hot topic. BackgroundIncreasing evidence indicates that the gut microbiota (GM) is linked to cardiovascular disease (CVD). Many studies on the GM in CVD have been published in the last decade. However, bibliometric analysis in this field is still lacking.MethodsOn 30 September 2022, a search of the Web of Science™ (WoS; Clarivate™, Philadelphia, PA, USA) yielded 1,500 articles and reviews on the GM and CVD. Microsoft Excel and CiteSpace and VOSviewer software were used to analyze publication trends and research hotspots in this field.ResultsOur search generated 1,708 publications on the GM in CVD published between 2004 and 2022, and 1,500 articles and review papers were included in the final analysis. The number of publications relating to the GM in CVD increased from 1 in 2004 to 350 in 2021. China (485 publications, 9,728 non-self-citations, and an H-index of 47) and the USA (418 publications, 24,918 non-self-citations, and an H-index of 82) contributed 32.31%, and 27.85%, respectively, of the total number of publications. Examination of the number of publications (Np) and number of citations, excluding self-citations (Nc), of individual authors showed that Y. L. Tian (Np: 18, Nc: 262, and H-index: 12), from China, is the most productive author, followed by R. Knight (Np: 16, Nc: 3,036, and H-index: 15) and M. Nieuwdorp (Np: 16, Nc: 503, and H-index: 9). The Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College accounted for the largest number of publications (Np: 62, Nc: 3,727, and H-index: 13, average citation number (ACN): 60.11). The journal Nutrients had the most publications (Np: 73, Nc: 2,036, and ACN: 27.89). Monooxygenase-3, short-chain fatty acids, fatty liver disease, metabolic disease, the Mediterranean diet, intestinal barrier, and prevention are the current hotspots or potential hotspots for future study.

Objectives: To analyze whether thyroglobulin (Tg) and anti-Tg antibody (TgAb) detection in fine-needle aspiration (FNA) of cervical lymph node (LN; LN-FNA-Tg and LN-FNA-TgAb) can predict LN metastasis and obtain the best cutoff value. Methods: The patients admitted to our hospital from January 2020 to March 2021 were prospectively enrolled. The LNs were sampled by FNA. All patients underwent thyroid surgery and neck dissection. LN-FNA-Tg, LN-FNA-TgAb, and blood Tg and TgAb were measured. The receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was used to determine the best cutoff points for positive LN. Results: There were 29 participants in the LN metastasis group and 42 in the nonmetastasis group. Compared with the nonmetastasis group, the participants in the metastasis group had higher LN-FNA-Tg (median: 1897 vs 7.74 ng/mL, P 227.1 ng/mL, resulting in an area under the curve of 0.927, 84.5% sensitivity, and 89.5% specificity. LN-FNA-TgAb >10.85 IS/mL had an accuracy of 79.6%, sensitivity 64.8%, and specificity 89.5%. Serum Tg and TgAb had the lowest accuracy, with 64.2% and 57.4%, respectively, sensitivity of 53.5% and 67.6%, and specificity of 71.4% and 50.5%. Similar results were observed in first-operation participants and postoperative participants. Conclusions: LN-FNA-Tg has high accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity for detecting cervical LN in patients with papillary thyroid cancer.

Objectives Precision Robotics’ Sirius Robotic Flexible Endoscopic System is a new, fully integrated, compact three-dimensional laparoscopic camera system with a disposable single-use flexible tip that can change its viewing direction. This IDEAL Stage 1 and 2a study assessed its safety, reliability and potential efficacy particularly for single incision laparoscopic surgery and vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery.Design Prospective single-institution, single-surgeon study.Setting The study was conducted in a multispecialty hospital.Participants Women aged 18–70 years scheduled for gynecological laparoscopic surgery were invited to participate. An information sheet and consent was available for the women and an informed consent was obtained. Thirteen participants completed this study.Interventions The laparoscopic procedures were done in the usual manner. The only difference was the Sirius System was used in place of the conventional laparoscope. All other procedures and instruments remained the same.Main outcome measures Primary outcome was the proportion of women who successfully completed the intended procedure using the Sirius System without conversion to another camera system, camera users and surgeon’s view and experience, and iterations and modifications to the system. Secondary outcomes were the incidence of intraoperative and postoperative complications during the first 6 weeks following surgery, and duration of surgery.Results 85% (11/13) of women had their procedure completed successfully using the Sirius System. Two women required immediate conversion to the conventional laparoscope due to technical issues. There were no intraoperative complications. Users agreed that the improved field of view was beneficial for laparoscopic surgery. Iterative improvements were made in the imaging quality, user interface and manufacturing quality.Conclusions Sirius System has early indications for safety and efficacy for intermediate and major minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures in gynecology. Further studies are needed to confirm it can replace a conventional laparoscope in the surgical workflow.Trial registration number NCT05048407.

Obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D) are on trend to become a huge burden across all ages. They cause harm to almost every organ, especially the heart. For decades, the incidence of heart failure with impaired diastolic function (or called heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, HFpEF) has increased sharply. More and more studies have uncovered obesity and T2D to be closely associated with HFpEF. The sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic reticulum calcium ATPase2a (SERCA2a) microdomain is a key regulator of calcium reuptake into the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) during diastole. 3′,5′-cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and its downstream effector cAMP dependent protein kinase (PKA) act locally within the SERCA2a microdomain to regulate the phosphorylation state of the small regulatory protein phospholamban (PLN), which forms a complex with SERCA2a. When phosphorylated, PLN promotes calcium reuptake into the SR and diastolic cardiac relaxation by disinhibiting SERCA2a pump function. In this review, we will discuss previous studies investigating the PLN/SERCA2a microdomain in obesity and T2D in order to gain a greater understanding of the underlying mechanisms behind obesity- and T2D-induced diastolic dysfunction, with the aim to identify the current state of knowledge and future work that is needed to guide further research in the field.

Polycomb-group proteins are key regulators of transcriptional programs that maintain cell identity. Here the authors provide evidence that PCGF5, a subunit of Polycomb Repressor Complex 1, is important for the differentiation of mouse embryonic stem cells towards a neural cell fate.

For linear accelerometers, calibration with a precision centrifuge is a key technology, and the input acceleration imposed on the accelerometer should be accurately obtained in the calibration. However, there are often errors in the installation of sample that make the calibration inaccurate. To solve installation errors and obtain the input acceleration in the calibration of the accelerometer, a calibration method based on the rotation principle using a double turntable centrifuge is proposed in this work. The key operation is that the sub-turntable is rotated to make the input axis of the accelerometer perpendicular to the direction of the centripetal acceleration vector. Models of installation errors of angle and radius were built. Based on these models, the static radius and input acceleration can be obtained accurately, and the calibration of the scale factor, nonlinearity and asymmetry can be implemented. Using this method, measurements of the MEMS accelerometer with a range of ±30 g were carried out. The results show that the discrepancy of performance obtained from different installation positions was smaller than 100 ppm after calibrating the input acceleration. Moreover, the results using this method were consistent with those using the back-calculation method. These results demonstrate that the effectiveness of our proposed method was confirmed. This method can measure the static radius directly eliminating the installation errors of angle and radius, and it simplifies the accelerometer calibration procedure.

With the development of 3D integrated packaging technology, failure analysis is facing more and more challenges. Defect localization in a 3D package is a key step of failure analysis. The complex structure and materials of 3D package devices demand non-destructive defect localization technology for full packages. Magnetic field imaging and three-dimensional X-ray technology are not affected by package material or form. They are effective methods to realize defect localization on 3D packages. In this paper, magnetic field imaging and high-resolution three-dimensional X-ray microscopy were used to localize the open defect in a 3D package with a TSV daisy chain. A two-probe RF method in magnetic field imaging was performed to resolve isolation of the defect difficulties resulting from many different branches of TSV daisy chains. Additionally, a linear decay method was used to target sub-micron resolution at a long working distance. Multiple partition scans from a high-resolution 3D X-ray microscopy with a two-stage magnification structure were used to achieve sub-micron resolution. The open location identified by magnetic field imaging was consistent with that identified by a three-dimensional X-ray microscope. The opening was located on the top metal in the proximity of the fifth via. Physical failure analysis revealed the presence of a crack in the top metal at the opening location.

In a MEMS capacitive accelerometer, there is an offset due to mechanical and electrical factors, and the offset would deteriorate the performance of the accelerometer. Reducing the offset from mechanism would benefit the improvement in performance. Yet, the compositions of the offset are complex and mix together, so it is difficult to decompose the offset to provide guidance for the reduction. In this work, a decomposition method of offset in a MEMS capacitive accelerometer was proposed. The compositions of the offset were first analyzed quantitatively, and methods of measuring key parameters were developed. Based on our proposed decomposition method, the experiment of offset decomposition with a closed-loop MEMS capacitive accelerometer was carried out. The results showed that the offset successfully decomposed, and the major source was from the fabricated gap mismatch in the MEMS sensor. This work provides a new way for analyzing the offset in a MEMS capacitive accelerometer, and it is helpful for purposefully taking steps to reduce the offset and improve accelerometer performance.

Abstract Ultraviolet absorption ability of modifiers is essential to protect asphalt from ageing. However, the detailed correlation between them remains unclear. In this study, zinc oxide nanoparticles were used as modifiers, and their ultraviolet absorption ability was manipulated by magnesium and aluminum doping. The influence of ultraviolet absorption ability of the nanoparticles on asphalt ultraviolet ageing was investigated experimentally, and their correlation was revealed in detail by curve fitting. The results show that aluminum doping enhances the ultraviolet absorption ability of nanoparticles, leading to superior anti-aging performance in aluminum-doped zinc oxide modified asphalt compared to pure zinc oxide. Conversely, magnesium doping shows a contrary modification. Evaluating the ultraviolet absorption ability of nanoparticle modifiers by bandgap and absorption intensity, we found that softening point increments, viscosity ageing index, and sulfoxide index exhibit a decreasing trend mainly in the bandgap range of 3.269 to 3.334 eV, whereas carbonyl index shows a decreasing trend mainly in the lower bandgap range of 3.183 to 3.269 eV. This phenomenon is primarily due to the different reactivity of carbon and sulfur with oxygen in asphalt. Curve fitting analysis revealed an exponential correlation between the ageing index of asphalt and the ultraviolet absorption ability of nanoparticles. To achieve superior anti-ultraviolet ageing performance, the nanoparticles should possess an absorption intensity above 0.961 a.u. and a bandgap below 3.299 eV. Moreover, stronger ultraviolet absorption ability of nanoparticles is needed to prevent the formation of carbonyl compounds. The underlying correlation established in the present work has significant implications for selecting suitable modifiers to prevent ultraviolet ageing of asphalt.

Abstract To study a new method for establishing animal models of prenatal bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), we used lung ultrasound score (LUS) to semi-quantitatively assess the severity of lung lesions in model rats. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was injected into the right lung of the fetus of the rat under ultrasound-guided, and the right lung of the neonates were scanning for LUS. Specimens were collected for pathological scoring and detection of pulmonary surfactant-associated glycoprotein (SP)-C and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression quantity. The correlation between LUS and pathological scores was analyzed. (1) The animal models were consistent with the pathological manifestations of BPD. In this article we discuss the effect of different test parameters on the analysis of retained austenite in TRIP590, TRIP780 and X90 steels, by means of Electron Backscattered Diffraction (EBSD) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD), respectively. By analyzing the measuring retained austenite content under different conditions, the optimal test parameters were obtained. The retained austenite content measured both by the EBSD and XRD methods were also compared. The results showed that the test parameters had a great influence on the measured results of retained austenite content in steel by the EBSD method. The higher the indexing rate, the better the precision of the measured results. The step size used for EBSD analysis should not exceed 1/5 of the average grain size of retained austenite. The scanning area for EBSD retained austenite analysis in TRIP and pipeline steels should be no less than 0.068 mm2, which is recommended to be performed by multiple small fields.

The HH 111 protostellar disk has recently been found to host a pair of spiral arms. Here we report the dust polarization results in the disk as well as the inner envelope around it, obtained with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array in continuum at λ ∼ 870 μ m and ∼0.″05 resolution. In the inner envelope, polarization is detected with a polarization degree of ∼6% and an orientation almost everywhere parallel to the minor axis of the disk and thus likely to be due to the dust grains magnetically aligned mainly by toroidal fields. In the disk, the polarization orientation is roughly azimuthal on the far side and becomes parallel to the minor axis on the near side, with a polarization gap in between on the far side near the central protostar. The disk polarization degree is ∼2%. The polarized intensity is higher on the near side than the far side, showing a near–far side asymmetry. More importantly, the polarized intensity and thus polarization degree are lower in the spiral arms but higher in between the arms, showing an anticorrelation of the polarized intensity with the spiral arms. Our modeling results indicate that this anticorrelation is useful for constraining the polarization mechanism and is consistent with the dust self-scattering by the grains that have grown to a size of ∼150 μ m. The interarms are sandwiched and illuminated by two brighter spiral arms and thus have higher polarized intensity. Our dust self-scattering model can also reproduce the observed polarization orientation parallel to the minor axis on the near side and the observed azimuthal polarization orientation at the two disk edges in the major axis. Further modeling work is needed to study how to reproduce the observed near–far side asymmetry in the polarized intensity and the observed azimuthal polarization orientation on the far side.

To investigate the formation process of multiple systems, we have analyzed the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array archival data of the 1.3 mm continuum, ^12 CO (2-1) and C ^18 O (2-1) emission in a proto-multiple system consisting of a Class 0 protostar Per-emb-8 and a Class I protobinary Per-emb-55 A and B . The 1.3 mm continuum emission is likely to primarily trace their protostellar disks, and the Keplerian disk rotation is observed in Per-emb-8 and Per-emb-55 A in the emission lines. In Per-emb-8, we identify two arm-like structures with a length of ∼1000 au connecting the eastern and western of its disk in the continuum and C ^18 O emission. Our analysis suggests that these arm-like structures are most likely infalling flows. In the ^12 CO emission, we discover a second bipolar outflow associated with Per-emb-8. The two bipolar outflows in Per-emb-8 are possibly launched along the normal axes of the misaligned inner and outer parts of its warped protostellar disk. In Per-emb-55, we find that the red- and blueshifted lobes of its bipolar outflow are misaligned by 90°. The presence of the warped disk, multiple misaligned outflows, and asymmetric infalling flows suggest complex dynamics in proto-multiple systems, and these could be related to the tidal interactions between the companions and/or the turbulent environments forming this proto-multiple system.

Abstract Aiming at the problems that it is difficult to predict rock burst accurately in engineering practice and the implementation parameters of rock burst prevention measures depend on some empirical formulas, in order to study the advantages and disadvantages of different in-situ modification mechanisms deeply, determine the applicable conditions of unusual in-situ modification measures, and provide a theoretical basis for forming adaptive in-situ modification control schemes. Two kinds of modified control methods using the same foundation involve engineering scale and indoor scale. With the help of scale transformation, the whole failure process analysis test of bearing rock samples was carried out. The results show that various modification measures can effectively control the properties, and realize "hard-rock softening or soft-rock hardening" by changing the physical and mechanical parameters of the target rock sample. Compared with the control group, the automatic parameters of rocks deteriorated significantly under different modification measures. The evolution law of carrying energy is similar. However, there are obvious diversity between various modification measures in plastic stage and post-peaking phase stage, which provides favorable conditions for rock burst prevention. Based on this, an adaptive modification control system was constructed. At the same time, filling materials is considered to increase the energy of post-peaking phase (non newtonian fluid: energy-absorbing materials), and further slow down the intensity of released energy within post-peaking phase stage. Because rock burst is characterized by rapid release of energy, non newtonian fluid has a good absorption effect on high-speed impact force. Therefore, in the design test, the effect of non newtonian fluid is realized by applying a high loading rate, and the evaluation of energy absorption effect of bearing rock samples filled with non newtonian fluid in borehole is considered.
