Meyal Field is considered as one of the chief hydrocarbon producing fields in the Potwar Basin, Pakistan. The present research emphasize on the subsurface structures affecting the Mesozoic-Cenozoic successions exclusively foremost reservoir units comprising the Eocene Chor Gali and Sakesar formations. Data from six seismic lines and three wells (aligned with those lines) have been deliberated comprehensively with remarkable and tremendous calibration. Five prominent and imperative reflectors specifically the Permian, Triassic, Jurassic, Paleocene and Eocene successions were interpreted through seismic tactics. Time structure maps were equipped on the basis of two-way travel time (TWT) of the seismic line. Likewise, four isopach maps portrayed the thickness discrepancy of prospective hydrocarbon strata. Structurally, analytical section reveals that the Meyal anticline is a plunging and faulted anticline. The pop-up structure is constrained by back-thrust from the north and fore-thrust from the south, on the dip lines. These maps depicted potential reservoir, demarcate promising site for future hydrocarbon exploration.

A set of architectural elements from the Roman Theatre of Lisbon are described and analysed. These elements stand out for the material they are made of an exotic rock with both colour, composition and heterogeneity very distinct from the local lithotypes. The singularity of these elements is underlined by the fact that they are the only architectural remains recognized in the scenic monument and in the city of Felicitas Iulia Olisipo / Lisboa carved in this type of material. Worth noting, the fact of all these elements having been originally covered with stucco which considering their technical and stylistic features, could be assigned to the constructive moment of the decoration of the scenic monument., Analisa-se um conjunto de elementos arquitetónicos de época romana recolhidos nas intervenções arqueológicas realizadas no teatro romano. Estas peças destacam-se pelo facto de o material em que são elaboradas não ser o biocalcarenito de idade miocénica, empregue em todos os elementos decorativos e estruturais do teatro mas antes um litótipo distinto, pouco homogéneo e exótico, quer na cor quer na composição. A singularidade destes elementos arquitetónicos é sublinhada pelo facto de serem os únicos que se reconhecem no monumento cénico e na cidade de Felicitas Iulia Olisipo / Lisboa realizados neste tipo de matéria-prima. Sublinha- se também o facto de todos estes elementos terem sido originalmente estucados, sendo possível, pelas suas características técnicas e estilísticas, atribuí-los ao primeiro momento construtivo do monumento cénico.

The Sado River Drainage Survey project (2004-2008) was designed to fill a significant gap in our knowledge of the prehistory of Portugal. Southern Alentejo constitutes nearly one third of the total land mass of continental Portugal, but has received comparatively little attention from Palaeolithic archaeologists. Practically nothing was known about the prehistory of the Sado River basin, which includes the southern Alentejo plain, before now. The results of the Sado River Drainage Survey (SRDS) indicate that the Sado River basin was likely occupied at low population densities during the Middle Palaeolithic. There is some evidence for a Lower Palaeolithic presence but little or no evidence of an Upper Palaeolithic occupation. The emerging pattern suggests either an occupational hiatus or a major shift in settlement pattern towards the end of the Middle Palaeolithic. Possible explanations for this pattern, including aridification driven by climate change, are explored here., El proyecto de prospección de la cuenca del río Sado (SRDS), llevado a cabo entre el 2004 y el 2008, se diseñó para suplir la carencia de información concerniente al conocimiento actual de la Prehistoria de Portugal. Aunque la cuenca del río Sado conforma casi un tercio de la superficie continental de Portugal, aún no había recibido la debida atención para el Paleolítico. Antes de este proyecto, prácticamente nada se conocía acerca de la Prehistoria de dicha cuenca, incluyendo la llanura de Alentejo. Nuestros resultados indican una baja densidad de población durante el Paleolítico Medio, rastro de ocupaciones del Paleolítico Inferior y casi ninguna evidencia de ocupaciones asociadas al Paleolítico Reciente. A partir de los datos obtenidos, se desprende un modelo en el que se evidencia que, hacia finales del Paleolítico Medio, hubo una discontinuidad en la ocupación, probablemente asociada a cambios climáticos o del uso del territorio.

Como o transplante renal, nem sempre é uma alternativa viável devido ao escasso número de dadores, é importante uma rápida identificação dos sintomas e diagnóstico da doença renal, com o intuito de impedir a progressão da insuficiência renal. Relativamente à hemodiálise, uma forma de terapia de substituição renal, o seu acesso pode ser por três vias, a fístula arteriovenosa, o enxerto e o cateter. Este último, apesar de estar associado a altas taxas de infeção é utilizado quando não é possível utilizar a fístula arteriovenosa ou então, quando é necessário um rápido acesso à circulação sanguínea. No cateter, é frequente a infeção pela flora comensal do organismo humano e também por microrganismos patogénicos. Esta é a principal limitação do uso de cateter em hemodiálise como acesso vascular. Dentro dos microrganismos que colonizam a superfície dos cateteres destacam-se o Staphylococcus aureus, o Staphylococcus epidermidis, a Pseudomonas aeruginosa e Candida albicans, que estão frequentemente associados a altas taxas de infeção, bem como a formação de biofilmes nas superfícies poliméricas do cateter. O tratamento nem sempre é fácil devido às várias resistências que os microrganismos apresentam contra os antibióticos. Mesmo assim, diversas alternativas vão surgindo para contrariar este facto como o uso de quelantes, antibióticos no lúmen do cateter, etanol e até mesmo o uso de mel. In catheter infection is common commensal bacterial flora of the human body, and also by pathogenic microorganisms. This is the main limitation of the catheter as vascular access in hemodialysis. Within the microorganisms that colonize the surface of catheters stand out Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans, which are often associated with high rates of infection, as well as the formation of biofilms on polymeric catheter surfaces.
