Le but de cet article est de mettre en évidence un programme gödelien, faisant suite au programme formaliste. Les théorèmes de 1931, sur l’incomplétude de l’arithmétique élémentaire, marquent l’échec du programme formaliste, tel que Hilbert l’a formulé. Pourtant, Gödel reprend les objectifs hilbertiens : établir le fondement et donner une représentation rationaliste des mathématiques. Ainsi, le logicien lance un véritable programme. Mais, alors que Hilbert entendait éliminer les arguments épistémologiques et transformer le problème du fondement des mathématiques en un exercice mathématique, le programme gödelien passe par une analyse de la subjectivité mathématicienne. Nous distinguons deux modèles de la subjectivité mathématicienne dans ce que nous appelons le programme gödelien. The aim of this article is to highlight a Gödelian programme, following the formalist programme. The theorems of 1931, on the incompleteness of elementary arithmetic, mark the failure of the formalist programme as formulated by Hilbert. However, Gödel took up Hilbert’s objectives: to establish the foundation and give a rationalist representation of mathematics. Thus, the logician launches a real programme. However, whereas Hilbert intended to eliminate epistemological arguments and transform the problem of the foundation of mathematics into a mathematical exercise, Gödel’s programme involves an analysis of mathematical subjectivity. We distinguish two models of mathematical subjectivity in what we call the Gödelian programme.

L’Agenda retrouve de Leon Brunschvicg est compose de deux series de pensees, les unes ecrites chaque jour de l’annee 1892, et les autres, qui leur repondent, au cours de l’annee 1942. A cinquante ans de distance, le philosophe commente, refute, elargit, ou simplement s’interroge sur ses premieres pensees. Le but de cet article est d’examiner le statut de la reflexion sur soi que manifeste l’agenda par rapport a la connaissance de soi dont Brunschvicg fait le fondement de sa philosophie idealiste. Nous commencons par insister sur la singularite du travail auquel se livre ici Brunschvicg pour ensuite tenter differentes hypotheses quant au statut de ces pensees et du mode reflexif qui s’y fait jour.

Il y a peu de points de rencontre entre Deleuze et Wittgenstein. La critique du modele de la carte en est un. Cet article a pour but de mettre en evidence l’importance de cette thematique dans les textes de Wittgenstein. Je commencerai par evoquer les Dictees dans lesquelles, en effet, Wittgenstein decele dans la conception de la proposition mise en place dans le Tractatus un usage abusif du modele de la « carte » : le langage y serait concu sur le modele d’une carte geographique, ce qui ne rendrait pas compte de sa realite. Je suivrai ensuite quelques textes ulterieurs de Wittgenstein pour enfin rapprocher sur ce theme les positions de Wittgenstein avec celles de Deleuze et Guattari. En conclusion, je proposerai d’interpreter l’emergence des neurosciences dans cette perspective pour y voir un nouvel effet de notre fascination pour la carte.

The aim of this paper is to investigate various concerns which appear in Isaac Asimov's Fantastic Voyage II: Destination Brain. I will disregard his first voyage inside a human body in Fantastic Voyage I, which the author disavows as not being his own work. In contrast, the second voyage is intricate, suggesting problems drawn from a variety of sources. In a nutshell, Asimov's explorers enter the body of a comatose man in order to read his thoughts. The story can be related both to philosophical thought-experiments, such as those of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz and of Herbert Feigl, as well as to personal anxieties peculiar to Asimov.

This paper is a discussion of Godel's arguments for a Platonistic conception of mathematical objects. I review the arguments that Godel offers in different papers, and compare them to unpublished material (from Godel's Nachlass). My claim is that Godel's later arguments simply intend to establish that mathematical knowledge cannot be accounted for by a reflexive analysis of our mental acts. In other words, there is at the basis of mathematics some data whose constitution cannot be explained by introspective analysis. This does not mean that mathematics is independent of the human mind, but only that it is independent of our ‘conscious acts and decisions’, to use Godel's own words. Mathematical objects may then have been created by the human mind, but if so, the process of creation cannot be completely analysed and re-enacted. Nous commençons par rappeler la place que donne A. Badiou aux mathématiques dans son dispositif. Nous parcourons ensuite L’être et l’événement en prenant comme fil directeur cette question, du rapport de l’état à la situation. La dernière partie compare la position de A. Badiou à la tradition « épistémologique » en France et, en particulier, aux textes de Jean Cavaillès, dont A. Badiou se réclame à plusieurs reprises. L’originalité de A. Badiou dans cette tradition est sans doute sa rupture avec la perspective historique mais le problème, que cette confrontation pose, est de savoir s’il est en effet possible de couper les théories mathématiques de leur histoire, comme A. We first discuss the role that is given to mathematics in A. Badiou’s philosophy. We then read rather extensively L’être et l’événement, following our problem, the relationship between “state” and “situation”. In the last part, we compare A. Badiou’s position to the tradition of “epistemology” in France, using in particular Cavaillès’ writings. A. Badiou appears to dissociate himself from the historical perspective that made the core of this tradition of epistemology since Brunschvicg. But the problem is whether one can indeed separate mathematical theories from their history and their context, as A. Badiou, or “Badiouism”, is bound to do.

Cet article interroge la place du platonisme de Lautman dans la tradition épistémologique en France à partir de Brunschvicg. Nous soutenons que, malgré sa position originale, le platonisme de Lautman s’intègre en effet dans cette tradition et doit être compris dans ce contexte. La première partie rappelle certains éléments du relativisme critique de Brunschvicg. La seconde tente une reconstruction de la philosophie de Lautman. Nous concluons en montrant comment le rôle donné par Brunschvicg à « l’expérience » se traduit chez Lautman dans une difficulté propre, concernant la « matière » dans laquelle se réalisent les « Idées »., This paper considers the position of Lautman’s Platonism in the French tradition of epistemology starting with Brunschvicg. We claim that Lautman’s Platonism does indeed belong to this tradition and can only be properly understood in this context. The first section discusses Brunschvicg’s “critical relativism”. The second section aims at reconstructing in this context Lautman’s philosophy. Finally, we show that Brunschvicg’s inheritance — or, more specifically, the role that Brunschvicg gives to “experience” — leads in Lautman’s texts to a particular problem, concerning the “material” in which “Ideas” are realized.

This article presents three extracts from the introductory course in mathematical logic that Godel gave at the University of Notre Dame in 1939. The lectures include a few digressions, which give insight into Godel's views on logic prior to his philosophical papers of the 1940s. The first extract is Godel's first lecture. It gives the flavour of Godel's leisurely style in this course. It also includes a curious definition of logic and a discussion of implication in logic and natural language. The second extract is a discussion on undecidability and on Leibniz. The third extract concerns the paradoxes and Russell's theory of types.
