- Abstract
The development of a thermodynamic model to simulate the Waelz process using SimuSage software for flowsheet generation is presented. The thermodynamic model is based on the following input parameters: amount and chemical composition of input material; air volume intake; and boundary conditions regarding heat transfer. The model provides a prediction of chemical composition of generated slag and off gas transporting Waelz oxide, and profiles of slag composition, solid-phase temperature, and gas-phase temperature along kiln length. The modelling allows improvement of process control and optimisation of refractory linings in elevated-temperature facilities., The development of a thermodynamic model to simulate the Waelz process using SimuSage software for flowsheet generation is presented. - Abstract
The "Disability and Diversity Studies" (DDS) are research fields which, similar to social work, deal with social inclusion and exclusion processes. Dimensions of disability and diversity can lead to disadvantages and inequalities in the individual life and social coexistence of people. The DDS examine these inequalities and identify intersectional relationships between diversity categories. The concept of intersectionality opens up the view of the restriction of diversities, which can lead to the intensification of inequalities and multiple discriminations: e. g., in the case of being a woman and member of an ethnic minority. The starting point is therefore not the difference category per se, but the intersection of several categories . This knowledge of categorizing classification and exclusion in their intersectionality is fundamental for the dissolution of social, societal, political and economic inequality. The DDS bachelor's program at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, which combines Disability and Diversity Studies, focuses on these research areas and develops practical solutions. In medical education and training, too, it is essential that teachers and students, but also patients, recognise the complex interrelationships of divergences in medical practice and the resulting stigma that must be removed. The DDS can serve as a basis for taking these interrelationships into account, for incorporating creative approaches to solutions and a diversity-sensitive attitude into the doctor-patient relationship and medical treatment. For example, the first and so far only World Report on Disability from 2011 noted a still existing negative infiltration of doctor-patient-interactions through stigmatization of persons with disabilities and deviations. Misunderstandings, lack of knowledge and wrong presettings can endanger the treatment .In order to create the framework conditions for an appropriate consideration of diversity and disability in the program, it is, Die "Disability & Diversity Studies" (DDS) sind Forschungsrichtungen, die sich, ähnlich der Sozialen Arbeit, mit gesellschaftlichen Ein- und Ausschließungsprozessen befassen.

- Abstract
Concepts for desulphurising raw iron are surveyed and the use of calcium carbide and magnesium, calcium oxide, soda (Na2CO3), and manganese are outlined along with alternative possibilities such as Mg-filled wire or high-bassicity slag. The three main product streams are evaluated and a recycling concept developed for desulphurisation slags containing 47.48 wt% Fe and 4.13% S (fine Fe, smaller than 10 mm) or 55.50 wt% Fe and 2.82% S (Fe larger than 10 mm), along with c.1% Al, 2% Si, 3% Mg and 10-11% Ca, which were characterised by IR spectroscopy and EDX analysis, then roasted in a top-blown rotating tromel converter with burnt liime at 1 450 degrees C to bring the S content down to 0.008%. A pilot study using a short trommel furnace achieved S contents of 0.001-0.004 wt%. The resulting flowsheet produces S-free iron for sintering or smelting and SO2-rich off-gas for sulphuric acid., Concepts for desulphurising raw iron are surveyed and the use of calcium carbide and magnesium, calcium oxide, soda (Na2CO3), and manganese are outlined along with alternative possibilities such as Mg-filled wire or high-bassicity slag. 29. Analysis of Important Chemical Pathways of n-Heptane Combustion in Small Skeletal Mechanisms

- Abstract
Reduced mechanisms for n-heptane combustion have been constructed using the novel ACR method, with the complex mechanism from CRECK, including low-temperature chemistry, as a starting point. Tailored mechanisms for each part of the combustion process, ignition, flame propagation, and extinction, were created to identify differences and common trends in mechanism composition. The simulations were carried out for n-heptane/air mixtures for zero-dimensional homogenous reactors, one-dimensional freely propagating flames, and counter-flow diffusion flames at temperature, pressure, and equivalence ratio conditions relevant to engine combustion. The smallest mechanism, 28 species, only targets laminar burning velocity, while the largest single-property mechanism is for ignition over a wide temperature range, with 48 species. A compound mechanism covering all conditions consists of 65 species, this mechanism includes reaction paths describing important subchemistries like the peroxyl radical chemistry governing low-temperature ignition and the C/H/O chemistry of importance to flame propagation. Compared to the CRECK mechanism, all the reduced mechanisms have fewer than 2% of the number of reactions.

30. EDIminer : a toolset for process mining from EDI messages

- Abstract
Organizations exchange data electronically to perform business transactions using Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). In order to gain insights on such transactions, approaches for inter-organizational business process mining based on the observation of exchanged EDI messages have been recently proposed. In recent approaches, however, only meta-information about the exchanged messages, such as message type, interchange time and sender/receiver information, has been used as data base for generating event logs. This neglects the opportunity of using business information from observed EDI messages to arrive at more detailed event logs, which in turn enable mining of detailed process models and fine-grained process performance analyses. In addressing this shortcoming, we present EDIminer, a toolset that allows for (i) enhanced visualization of contents of EDI messages, (ii) automatic and/or user-driven definition of mappings of EDI artifacts to events, (iii) generation of events from such mappings, (iv) semi-automatic correlation of events to process instances and (v) generation of industry-standard XES event logs for subsequent application of conventional process mining techniques. We demonstrate the utility of EDIminer by means of an exemplary EDI-based purchase order process based on real-world data.

Traditional standards for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), such as EDIFACT and ANSI X12, have been employed in Business-to-Business (B2B) e-commerce for decades. Due to their wide industry coverage and long-standing establishment, they will presumably continue to play an important role for some time. EDI systems are typically not "process-aware", i.e., messages are standardized but processes simply "emerge". However, to improve performance and to enhance the control, it is important to understand and analyze the "real" processes supported by these systems. In the case study presented in this paper we uncover the inter-organizational business processes of an automotive supplier company by analyzing the EDIFACT messages that it receives from its business partners. We start by transforming a set of observed messages to an event log, which requires that the individual messages are correlated to process instances. Thereby, we make use of the specific structure of EDIFACT messages. Then we apply process mining techniques to uncover the inter-organizational business processes. Our results show that inter-organizational business process models can be derived by analyzing EDI messages that are exchanged in a network of organizations.

Choreography modeling and service integration received a lot of attention in the last decade. However, most real-world implementations of inter-organizational systems are still realized by traditional Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) standards. In traditional EDI standards, the notion of process or choreography is not explicitly specified. Rather, every business document exchange stands for its own. This lack of process awareness in traditional EDI systems hinders organizations from applying Business Process Management (BPM) methods in such settings. To address this shortcoming, we seek to derive choreographies from EDI message exchanges. Thereby, we employ and extend process mining techniques, which have so far concentrated on business processes within single organizations. We discover the interaction sequences between the partners as well as the business information conveyed in the exchanged documents, which goes beyond the state-of-the-art in process mining. As a result, we lift the information gained on the IT level to the business level. This enables us to derive new insights that help organizations to improve their performance, e.g., an organization may get insights into the value of its business partnerships to support an efficient decision making process. This way we hope to bring the merits of BPM to inter-organizational systems realized by traditional EDI standards.

23 pp. (1995)., Photoproduction of 2-jet events is studied with the H1 detector at HERA. Parton cross sections are extracted from the data by an unfolding method using leading order parton-jet correlations of a QCD generator. The gluon distribution in the photon is derived in the fractional momentum range 0.04 ⩽ x γ ⩽ 1 at the average factorization scale 75 GeV 2 .

We present a new measurement of the total photoproduction cross section performed with the H1 detector at HERA. For an average centre of mass energy of 200GeV a value of $\sigma_{tot}~{\gamma{p}}= 165\pm2\pm11\mu$b has been obtained. A detailed analysis of the data in adequate kinematic regions enabled a decomposition of the total cross section in its elastic, single diffractive dissociation and remaining non-diffractive parts, based on safe assumptions on the double diffractive dissociation contribution.

The production of transverse energy in deep inelastic scattering is measured as a function of the kinematic variables x and Q 2 using the H1 detector at the ep collider HERA. The results are compared to the different predictions based upon two alternative QCD evolution equations, namely the Dokshitzer-Gribov-Lipatov-Altarelli-Parisi (DGLAP) and the Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov (BFKL) equations. In a pseudorapidity interval which is central in the hadronic centre of mass system between the current and the proton remnant fragmentation region the produced transverse energy increases with decreasing x for constant Q 2 . Such a behaviour can be explained with a QCD calculation based upon the BFKL ansatz. The rate of forward jets, proposed as a signature for BFKL dynamics, has been measured.

15 pp. (1995)., A contact interaction analysis is presented to search for new phenomena beyond the Standard Model in deep inelastic e ± p → e ± hadrons scattering. The data are collected with the H1 detector at HERA and correspond to integrated luminosities of 0.909 pb −1 and 2.947 pb −1 for electron and positron beams, respectively. The differential cross sections dσ/d Q 2 are measured in the Q 2 range between 160 GeV 2 and 20 000 GeV 2 . The absence of any significant deviation from the Standard Model prediction is used to constrain the couplings and masses of new leptoquarks and to set limits on electron-quark compositeness scales and on the radius of light quarks.

16 pp. (1995)., We present an experimental study of theep→eγ+p andep→eγ+X processes using data recorded by the H1 detector in 1993 at the electron-proton collider HERA. These processes are employed to measure the luminosity with an accuracy of 4.5 %. A subsample of theep→eγ+X events in which the hard photon is detected at angles θγ′ ≤ 0.45 mrad with respect to the incident electron direction is used to verify experimentally the size of radiative corrections to theep→eX inclusive cross section and to investigate the structure of the proton in theQ2 domain down to 2 GeV2, lower than previously attained at HERA.

16 pp. (1995)., We present a QCD analysis of the proton structure function F 2 measured by the H1 experiment at HERA, combined with data from previous fixed target experiments. The gluon density is extracted from the scaling violations of F 2 in the range 2 · 10 −4 < x < 3 · 10 −2 and compared with an approximate solution of the QCD evolution equations. The gluon density is found to rise steeply with decreasing x .

16 pp. (1995)., A measurement is presented, using data taken with the H1 detector at HERA, of the contribution of diffractive interactions to deep-inelastic electron-proton ( ep ) scattering in the kinematic range 8.5 < Q 2 < 50GeV 2 , 2.4 × 10 −4 < Bjorken- x < 0.0133, and 3.7 × 10 −4 < χ p < 0.043. The diffractive contribution to the proton structure function F 2 ( x , Q 2 ) is evaluated as a function of the appropriate deep-inelastic scattering variables χ p , Q 2 , β (= χ χ p ) using a class of deep-inelastic ep scattering events with no hadronic energy flow in an interval of pseudo-rapidity adjacent to the proton beam direction. the dependence of this contribution on χ p is measured to be χ p − n with n = 1.19 ± 0.06 (stat.) ± 0.07 (syst.) independent of β and Q 2 , which is consistent with both a diffractive interpretation and a factorisable ep diffractive cross section. A first measurement of the deep-inelastic structure of the pomeron in the form of the Q 2 and β dependences of a factorised structure function is presented. For all measured β, this structure function is observed to be consistent with scale invariance.

32 pp. (1995)., A measurement of the proton structure function F 2 ( x , Q 2 ) is reported for momentum transfers squared Q 2 between 4.5 GeV 2 and 1600 GeV 2 and for Bjorken x between 1.8 × 10 −14 and 0.13 using data collected by the HERA experiment H1 in 1993. It is observed that F 2 increases significantly with decreasing x , confirming our previous measurement made with one tenth of the data available in this analysis. The Q 2 dependence is approximately logarithmic over the full kinematic range covered. The subsample of deep inelastic events with a large pseudo-rapidity gap in the hadronic energy flow close to the proton remnant is used to measure the “diffractive” contribution to F 2 .

13 pp. (1994)., We present a study of J ψ meson production in collisions of 26.7 GeV electrons with 820 GeV protons, performed with the H1-detector at the HERA collider at DESY. The J ψ mesons are detected via their leptonic decays both to electrons and muons. Requiring exactly two particles in the detector, a cross section of σ(ep → J ψ X) = (8.8±2.0±2.2) nb is determined for 30 GeV ≤ W γp ≤ 180 GeV and Q 2 ≲ 4 GeV 2 . Using the flux of quasi-real photons with Q 2 ≲ 4 GeV 2 , a total production cross section of σ ( γp → J / ψX ) = (56±13±14) nb is derived at an average W γp =90 GeV. The distribution of the squared momentum transfer t from the proton to the J ψ can be fitted using an exponential exp(− b ∥ t ∥) below a ∥ t ∥ of 0.75 GeV 2 yielding a slope parameter of b = (4.7±1.9) GeV −2 .
