This retrospective study aims to identify high-risk COPD participants by using QCT measurements.Patients and Methods: We enrolled 140 participants from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Shenyang Medical College who completed inspiratory high-resolution CT scans, pulmonary function tests (PFTs), and clinical characteristics recorded. They were diagnosed Non-COPD by PFT value of FEV1/FVC > 70% and divided into two groups according percentage predicted FEV1 (FEV1%), low-risk COPD group: FEV1% ≥ 95%, high-risk group: 80% < FEV1% < 95%. The QCT measurements were analyzed by the Student’s t-test (or Mann–Whitney U-test) method. Then, feature candidates were identified using the LASSO method. Meanwhile, the correlation between QCT measurements and PFTs was assessed by the Spearman rank correlation test. Furthermore, support vector machine (SVM) was performed to identify high-risk COPD participants. The performance of the models was evaluated in terms of accuracy (ACC), sensitivity (SEN), specificity (SPE), F1-score, and area under the ROC curve (AUC), with p < 0.05 considered statistically significant.Results: The SVM based on QCT measurements achieved good performance in identifying high-risk COPD patients with 85.71% of ACC, 88.34% of SEN, 84.00% of SPE, 83.33% of F1-score, and 0.93 of AUC. Further, QCT measurements integration of clinical data improved the performance with an ACC of 90.48%. The emphysema index (%LAA− 950) of left lower lung was negatively correlated with PFTs (P < 0.001). The airway anatomy indexes of lumen diameter (LD) were correlated with PFTs.Conclusion: QCT measurements combined with clinical information could provide an effective tool for an early diagnosis of high-risk COPD. The QCT indexes can be used to assess the pulmonary function status of high-risk COPD.Keywords: early diagnosis, QCT measurements, COPD, SVM

Ophiopogon japonicus (Asparagaceae) is a perennial grass species which can be cultivated as an ornamental and medicinal plant. From April 2021 to September 2022, a serious leaf blight disease of O. japonicus was discovered in Rizhao City, Shandong Province, China. The initial disease symptoms were small yellow spots, finally developing as tip blight, often associated with many small, black, semi-immersed pycnidial conidiomata formed in lesions. To obtain isolates of the causal agent for this disease, samples were randomly collected from O. japonicus diseased leaves in Rizhao City. In total 97 Phyllosticta isolates were obtained from samples, and studied using morphological features and multilocus phylogenetic analyses of a combined dataset using the internal transcribed spacers (ITS), the 28S large subunit of ribosomal RNA (LSU), and partial translation elongation factor 1-alpha (tef), actin (act) and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (gapdh) loci. Phylogenetically, these Phyllosticta isolates formed a clade in the P. concentrica species complex, and clustered with P. pilospora and P. spinarum. Morphologically, isolates in this clade differed from P. pilospora and P. spinarum by the size of conidiogenous cells and conidia, and the absence of an apical conidial appendage. As a result, these isolates were described as a novel species Phyllosticta rizhaoensis. Pathogenicity was confirmed using Koch's postulates, which showed that P. rizhaoensis could induce leaf blight symptoms on O. japonicus in China. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The deliberately origin mislabeling of sweet cherry causes significantly disruptions to market integrity and consumers' trust. In this study, 153 cherry samples from five provinces in China and the corresponding irrigation water and soil samples were collected. 5 stable isotope ratios (δ13C, δ15N, δ2H, δ18O, 87Sr/86Sr) and 8 multi-element contents (Na, Mg, P, K, Ca, Fe, Zn, Se) of cherry were determined by EA-IRMS and ICP-MS to study isotopic fractionation and elemental enrichment mechanisms for origin traceability. The results show the δ2H and δ18O of cherry exhibit a strong correlated with its irrigation water (r2 > 0.85), while δ15N, 87Sr/86Sr, Fe, Zn and Se contents are related to its cultivated soil (r2 > 0.75), and the δ13C is related to the local microclimate. In the high-precision optoelectronic tracking system (OTS) based on a charge-coupled device (CCD), the boresight error extracted from the tracking image contains an undeniable delay, which directly limits the control bandwidth of visual tracking. High bandwidth means high response speed and tracking accuracy. Generally, a model-based delay compensation control method called the Smith predictor is utilized to separate time delay from the closed loop to promote the control bandwidth. However, due to the existence of errors between the established model and the real object, the improvement in the bandwidth is still limited to ensure system stability, resulting in insufficient tracking performance. In this paper, to solve the problem, a Smith predictor modified with pseudo feedforward control for the OTS is proposed. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves significant improvements in tracking performance, reducing the maximum residual error at 1 Hz from 365 arcseconds (using the classic Smith predictor) to 283 arcseconds, a 22.5% improvement. Across the main frequency band (0.2 Hz to 2 Hz), the residual errors were consistently lower using the proposed method.

Abstract Aim To investigate the status and influencing factors of health information literacy in patients with intermediate‐stage chronic kidney disease (CKD). Design A prospective clinical study. Methods We used a CKD health information literacy questionnaire to survey 130 patients with intermediate‐stage CKD and valuate their health needs and health knowledge. We performed the study in strict accordance with the Guidelines for Clinical Trial Protocols. We registered the study in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registration Center (registration No. ChiCTR2100053103; approval No. K56‐1). Results The overall health information literacy of CKD was relatively low. Low education level, advanced age and unemployment were influencing factors. The scores of assessment ability, literacy awareness, application ability, integration ability and CKD health knowledge reserve were relatively low. The generalized linear model showed that the older the men, the lower their health information literacy.

Aiming at the deformation and fracture of shaft wall caused by freezing and thawing of topsoil and water pressure of aquifer in severe cold mining area, fiber bragg grating strain sensors are installed along the circumferential and longitudinal direction of shaft wall, the damage identification method of shaft wall structure is proposed, the real-time monitoring system of shaft wall deformation is established, and the deformation and failure threshold of concrete structure is determined through the compression test of concrete samples, and the real-time monitoring and early warning of shaft lining structure are realized. The monitoring results of the auxiliary shaft wall of Lingdong Coal Mine in severe cold mining area for nearly a year show that the shaft wall fiber bragg grating monitoring system can monitor in real time, has good stability, good coupling with concrete materials, and is easy to form a sensor monitoring network. The maximum circumferential strain and axial strain of shaft wall are both lower than the yield strength threshold of concrete, indicating that the shaft wall is in a stable stage at present.

Objective: This study aimed to improve the tenderness and flavor content of Yanbian cattle beef. Methods: Rump beef of Yanbian cattle were dry-aged by using three different methods, i.e., Method A: RH（65±5）% aging for 10 days, RH（75±5）% aging for 10 days, and then RH （85±5）% aging for 20 days; Method B: RH（75±5）% aging for 20 days and then RH（85±5）% aging for 20 days; Method C: RH（85±5）% aging for 40 days. The quality changes caused by the different aging processes were then analyzed and compared. Results: The cooking loss of the beef processed by all the three methods increased significantly with the extension of aging time, but the beef loss (39.14%) in Group A was the highest. The TBARS and TVB-N values of group C were 1.387 and 14.833, respectively, significantly higher than those of the other two groups. The fat and protein contents of each group showed an increasing trend, while the shear force value decreased by 50%. No significant difference in the changes of cooking loss rate, color and pH value were found among the groups. The results showed that with dry-aging, the richness of taste attributes was elevated with higher freshness and aftertaste. The bitterness in group B was lower, and the relative content of aldehydes and ketones among volatile flavor compounds was higher. Conclusion: Method B was the best dry-aging process for Yanbian cattle rump beef.

Abstract Extensive use of thermal energy in daily life is ideal for reducing carbon emissions to achieve carbon neutrality; however, the effective collection of thermal energy is a major hurdle. Thermoelectric (TE) conversion technology based on the Seebeck effect and thermal energy storage technology based on phase change materials (PCMs) represent smart, feasible, and research‐worthy approaches to overcome this hurdle. However, the integration of multiple thermal energy sources freely existing in the environment for storage and output of thermal and electrical energy simultaneously still remains a huge challenge. Herein, three‐dimensional (3D) nanostructured metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are in situ nucleated and grown onto carbon nanotubes (CNTs) via coordination bonding. After calcination, the prepared core–shell structural CNTs@MOFs are transformed into tightened 1D/3D carbon heterostructure loading Co nanoparticles for efficient solar–thermoelectric energy harvesting. Surprisingly, the corresponding composite PCMs show a record‐breaking solar–thermal conversion efficiency of 98.1% due to the tightened carbon heterostructure and the local surface plasmon resonance effect of Co nanoparticles. Moreover, our designed all‐in‐one composite PCMs are also capable of creating an electrical potential of 0.5 mV based on the Seebeck effect without a TE generator. This promising approach can store thermal and electrical energy simultaneously, providing a new direction in the design of advanced all‐in‐one multifunctional PCMs for thermal energy storage and utilization.

Abstract The aim of this article was to analyze the clinical and genetic characteristics of a patient with Huntington's disease and her family. We analyzed the clinical data of a patient with Huntington's disease and her family members in the Department of Neurology of our hospital, drew the genetic pedigree, and used gene fragment analysis to detect and analyze the genes of three people in the family according to the principle of informed consent. The genetic pedigree of the family was consistent with that of autosomal dominant diseases. A total of five people in this family developed the disease, two died, and the main clinical manifestations were dystonia, ataxia, and cognitive impairment. Three people in this family underwent genetic testing, and two exhibited normal genotypes. The cytosine–adenine–guanine trinucleotide (CAG) repeats of the proband were abnormally amplified, and the number of repeats reached 43. The main clinical features of the patient included chronic obscure onset, obvious positive family genetic history, clinical features of involuntary limb movement with cognitive impairment, rapid disease progression, poor treatment effect, and abnormal amplification of CAG repeats as shown through genetic testing. All the above features met the diagnostic criteria of Huntington's disease.

Summary: The introduction of the pine wood nematode (PWN), Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, to new areas has impacted on the international economy. Therefore, accurate and reliable detection methods for PWN are essential for the control and management of this pest. A rapid and economic method for detecting PWN may be developed focusing on the PWN vector (Monochamus alternatus). This work standardized a loop‐mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) method using newly designed primer sequences based on the syg‐2 gene, which encodes the synaptogenesis protein syg‐2. Loop‐mediated isothermal amplification was conducted at 63°C for 60 min using six sets of primers. The result was confirmed by visual observation. A positive reaction was confirmed by SYBR Green I fluorescence dye under light thermal cycling. The lower limit of DNA detection was 51.4 pg/μl in both LAMP and 51.4 ng/μl in PCR. Therefore, the LAMP was 1,000 times more sensitive in DNA detection than PCR. The LAMP is a relatively new, highly accurate and rapid molecular technique that can rapidly detect infectious agents in the field without requiring sophisticated instruments, giving a visually readable result. The method greatly improves detection, without requiring professional knowledge and expensive, sophisticated equipment. Therefore, this system is suitable for quarantine and field detection. Summary: Liquid phase leakage, intrinsic rigidity, and easy brittle failure are the longstanding bottlenecks of phase change materials (PCMs) for thermal energy storage, which seriously hinder their widespread applications in advanced energy-efficient systems. Emerging flexible composite PCMs that are capable of enduring certain deformation and guaranteeing superior mutual contact with integrated devices are considered as a cutting-edge effective solution. Flexible PCMs-based thermal regulation technology can reallocate thermal energy and regulate the temperature within an optimal range. Currently, tireless efforts are devoted to the development of versatile flexible PCMs-based thermal regulation devices, and a big step forward has been taken. Herein, we systematically outline fabrication techniques, flexibility evaluation strategies, advanced functions and advances of flexible composite PCMs. Furthermore, existing challenges and future perspectives are provided in terms of flexible PCMs-based thermal regulation techniques. This insightful review aims to provide an in-depth understanding and constructive guidance of engineering advanced flexible multifunctional PCMs.

Abstract Phase change materials (PCMs) can alleviate concerns over energy to some extent by reversibly storing a tremendous amount of renewable and sustainable thermal energy. However, the low thermal conductivity, low electrical conductivity, and weak photoabsorption of pure PCMs hinder their wider applicability and development. To overcome these deficiencies and improve the utilization efficiency of thermal energy, versatile carbon materials have been increasingly considered as supporting materials to construct shape‐stabilized composite PCMs. Despite some carbon‐based composite PCMs reviews regarding thermal conductivity enhancement, a comprehensive review of carbon‐based composite PCMs does not exist. Herein, a systematic overview of recent carbon‐based composite PCMs for thermal storage, transfer, conversion (solar‐to‐thermal, electro‐to‐thermal and magnetic‐to‐thermal), and advanced multifunctional applications, including novel metal organic framework (MOF)‐derived carbon materials are provided. The current challenges and future opportunities are also highlighted. The authors hope this review can provide in‐depth insights and serve as a useful guide for the targeted design of high‐performance carbon‐based composite PCMs.

Summary: Efficient thermal energy harvesting using phase change materials (PCMs) has great potential for thermal energy storage and thermal management applications. Benefiting from these merits of pore structure diversity, convenient controllability, and excellent thermophysical stability, SiO2-based composite PCMs have comparatively shown more promising prospect. In this regard, the microstructure-thermal property correlation of SiO2-based composite PCMs is still unclear despite the significant achievements in structural design. To enrich the fundamental understanding on the correlations between the microstructure and the thermal properties, we systematically summarize the state-of-the-art advances in SiO2-based composite PCMs for tuning thermal energy storage from the perspective of tailoring chemistry strategies. In this review, the tailoring chemistry influences of surface functional groups, pore sizes, dopants, single shell, and hybrid shells on the thermal properties of SiO2-based composite PCMs are systematically summarized and discussed. This review aims to provide in-depth insights into the correlation between structural designs and thermal properties, thus showing better guides on the tailor-made construction of high-performance SiO2-based composite PCMs. Finally, the current challenges and future recommendations for the tailoring chemistry are also highlighted.

The tumor suppressor p53 is an important regulator of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, although downstream mediators of p53 remain to be elucidated. Here, we show that p53 and its downstream targets, p53-inducible ribonucleotide reductase (p53R2) and p53-inducible gene 3 (PIG3), physically and functionally interact with catalase for efficient regulation of intracellular ROS, depending on stress intensity. Under physiological conditions, the antioxidant functions of p53 are mediated by p53R2, which maintains increased catalase activity and thereby protects against endogenous ROS. After genotoxic stress, high levels of p53 and PIG3 cooperate to inhibit catalase activity, leading to a shift in the oxidant/antioxidant balance toward an oxidative status, which could augment apoptotic cell death. These results highlight the essential role of catalase in p53-mediated ROS regulation and suggest that the p53/p53R2-catalase and p53/PIG3-catalase pathways are critically involved in intracellular ROS regulation under physiological conditions and during the response to DNA damage, respectively. Aiming at the problem of low voltage gain of traditional boost converter and the incompatibility of tracking speed and tracking accuracy with the traditional incremental conductance algorithm (INC), this paper uses the hybrid boost converter as the DC/DC converter of photovoltaic system, and designs the variable step size INC algorithm control strategy to achieve Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of photovoltaic. Simulink simulation model verifies the feasibility of the proposed algorithm, which effectively improves the output voltage and power generation efficiency of the photovoltaic system.
