L’articolo esamina la documentazione relativa alle curtes fiscali di Guastalla e Luzzara nel periodo compreso tra IX e XIII secolo. Guastalla e Luzzara furono concesse dall’imperatrice Angelberga al monastero di San Sisto di Piacenza nell’877; sul finire del XII secolo divennero oggetto di una disputa, conclusasi nel 1227 a favore del comune di Cremona. L’articolo sostiene due tesi principali: che le più sostanziose fonti di introiti garantiti dal possesso delle due curtes trovassero la loro ragione nell’origine fiscale di Guastalla e Luzzara; e che la tenacia con cui i Cremonesi cercarono di sottrarle a San Sisto si spiega con il mutato contesto economico dei decenni a cavallo tra XII e XIII secolo.

Il saggio è dedicato all’analisi stilistica e iconografica di alcuni architravi scolpiti che ornano i portali delle chiese di Piacenza, una delle località più vivaci nel panorama artistico nord-italiano del XII secolo. L’eredità delle opere realizzate per la cattedrale cittadina dalla bottega di Nicholaus riecheggia nei rilievi delle chiese di San Matteo, Sant’Ilario e dell’inedito portale di Santo Stefano. Attraverso lo studio delle testimonianze storiche superstiti, il confronto con opere del medesimo periodo e contesto e una rinnovata attenzione per i contenuti iconografici, l’intento del saggio è quello di dimostrare la portata simbolica delle raffigurazioni ospitate sugli architravi. Un’attenzione particolare è riservata alla inusuale iconografia dell’Incredulità di san Tommaso presente sul portale della chiesa di Sant’Ilario. Il tentativo di rilettura delle iscrizioni e l’inquadramento di tale opera nel contesto socio-culturale della Piacenza di tardo XII secolo permette di formulare nuove ipotesi sulla connessione tra scelte iconografiche, istanze di rinnovamento spirituale della società e rituali liturgici, sottesa alla realizzazione di sculture che ornano significativamente le porte di accesso ai luoghi sacri, vie di salvezza per i fedeli penitenti.

Pierluigi Farnese (1503–47) was the 1st Duke of Parma and Piacenza (r.1545–7). His fortune heavily relied on the political and diplomatic ability of his father, Paul III (1468–1549). Pierluigi took an active and severe attitude towards local feudatories; as a result, he had many enemies and was assassinated in September 1547. While Pierluigi was unsuccessful as a ruler, he was aware of the impact of the arts for his political strategies: he collected artworks and tried to establish a musical household. This article presents previously unknown documents showing Pierluigi’s attempts to recruit musicians for Piacenza, including a travelling band from Brescia; a certain Girolamo Leone, presumably a singer of the Brescian cathedral; the Genoa musician ‘Jacomo tenorista’; and the Roman musician ‘Bolognia’, presumably Galeazzo Baldi, member of Paul III’s musica segreta. This paper wants to be a frame about the situation of poorest people in Piacenza during the late Napoleonic age (1810-1814). In that period the French domination replaced the catholic Church in the assistance and caring of people in need, organizing a State service. To complete this transformation, they used part of the money raised by ecclesiastic dispossession, principally lands and monasteries. Today we can study this period of transformations thanks to the administrative efficiency of the French domination whom registered a lot of information about the social marginality’s phenomenon. The French domination brought an important modernization of social and economic sectors in the modern history of both Piacenza and Italy; it also brought an exploitation related to the European hegemony’s project pursued by Napoleon.

Un analisi del progetto 8 Agosto 1944. Gropparello Liberata a cinque anni dal suo avvio. Si tratta di un progetto che coniuga public history, microstoria e storia orale per celebrare la liberazione di Gropparello – piccolo comune dell’Appennino piacentino – da parte dei partigiani, avvenuta l’8 agosto 1944.

Il saggio traccia un primo quadro delle zone libere partigiane sorte in provincia di Piacenza nel corso dell’estate-autunno 1944, analizzandone sia l’importanza strategico-militare che le realizzazioni in campo politico-amministrativo. In particolare si è evidenziato il ruolo di controllo e coordinamento portato avanti dal Commissariato Civile per i Comuni liberati e liberandi dalle formazioni partigiane istituito nell’ottobre 1944 dal Comitato di Liberazione provinciale di Piacenza con l’intento di supervisionare le attività delle giunte dei Comuni liberati.

Ambulance crew’s choosing of appropriate destination hospital for trauma patients can affect survival and morbidity outcomes. Aim of the present study is to devise a decision-making algorithm in order to allow the best choice of destination hospital for trauma patients and to apply it on an electronic device able to facilitate the decision made by ambulance staff. The method used was analysis of literature data, context and workload with a retrospective observational study. A comparison between the destination hospitals actually chosen and those that could have been chosen with the Piacenza trauma algorithm has been applied. The data shows a 9.5% (P>0.10) more advantageous change in appropriateness in the choice of medical facility and a 1.4% increase in admissions to the Emergency Department of the provincial hospital. The creation and use of a medical protocol and its consequent installation on an electronic device (tablet) that can be shared over a computer platform could help medical staff make appropriate pre-hospital choices as regards the destination hospital for trauma patients.

Recentemente è stata ancora ribadita dal Ministero della Difesa l’importanza del processo di valorizzazione del patrimonio immobiliare militare dismesso. Gli effetti critici connessi alla dismissione di questi immobili possono – e devono – essere interpretati in termini di opportunità di ampio respiro: riqualificazione urbana, architettonica e ambientale; rilancio della città e del suo territorio; sostenibilità; partecipazione e concertazione; interazioni sinergiche tra pubblico e privato. Piacenza è tra le realtà maggiormente investite da questi processi; il dibattito pubblico sul futuro delle aree militari è aperto, specialmente per le Caserme Bixio e Nicolai (Comparto Nord San Sisto/Cittadella), sede storica del Genio Pontieri che dovrebbe essere il primo dei siti da valorizzare.

The Civic Museums of Palazzo Farnese in Piacenza are the first Italian museum and one of the first five in Europe to achieve an application based on advanced technologies related to proximity (beacon) and one of the first in the world to adapt it on Android system. After testing the technology platform I.M.APP on a section of the Museums, Ultraviolet App, creator of the application, extended the network of beacons to the entire city of Piacenza. Now, walking through the streets of town centre with own smartphone or tablet, the visitor will not have the unpleasant feeling of loss, and having to browse through pages and pages to find out what is that monument, church, building or square that captured his attention, because, automatically, will find everything hi wanted to know the city and its artistic, historical, architectural beauty, on their mobile device, without move a finger, thanks to a small beacon.

La volgarizzazione della Vita di Esopo a opera di Giulio Landi (1545) è stata caratterizzata da una lunga fortuna che ne ha fatto l’introduzione biografica “ufficiale” per secoli alle favole. Nondimeno, la traduzione del Landi era nata come testo autonomo, come chiaramente attestato dal paratesto. La Vita può essere letta su tre diversi livelli (comico, politico, filosofico-religioso) che per essere compresi debbono essere ricondotti tanto all’ambiente piacentino, specie con l’ambigua accademia degli Ortolani, quanto all’intera produzione del Landi e alla sua rete intellettuale. The translation into Italian of the Aesopus’ Life by Giulio Landi (1545) has enjoyed a centuries-long diffusion as the standard biographic introduction to the Aesop’s fables. Actually, the paratext clearly certifies that Landi’s work was born as an autonomous text. The Life proposes three different levels of reading: comical, political, religious-philosophical. All of them have to be read in the frame both of the Piacenza milieu (mainly with the ambiguous Accademia degli Ortolan) and of the whole Landi’s production and cultural network.
