Background/Aim. Complications of breast augmentation, as one of the most common cosmetic surgery, may be different. Besides usual early, local postoperative complicatons, the most common late complication is capsular contracture. As a specific complication of skin functions after this operation only disturbance of sensibility is described. Since the skin has other functions as well, and because there are no literature data available, the aim of this research was measuring the skin temperature before and after surgery. Methods. A prospective intervential study was done in 49 adult women. Bilateral augmentative mammaplasty was performed for breast hypoplasia or on the personal request of a patient with autrophic breasts. Measuring the temperature of the breast skin was done in two points, before the operation, and seven days and three months after surgery. The temperature measurement was done by the infrared thermometer (Pyrometer TROTEC BP21). Statistically significant difference was determined using the t-test for related samples. Differences were considered statistically significant if p was less than 0.05. Eta squared coefficient was use to determine the import size and according to the Cohen criteria everything over 10:14 signified a major impact. The data were analyzed by the IBP SPSS Statistics v20. Results. In a majority of patients the breasts were hypoplastic (69.39%). The most commonly used implants were 275–500 mL volume (46.94%), and the least common implants were over 500 mL (16.33%). In a little less than 2/3 of the patients submammary incision was used (61.22%). In a majority of patients (67.35%) the prosthesis were placed subglandularly. The average value of the temperature before the operation at the point 1 was 34.49ºC, seven days after surgery 34.81ºC, and three months after surgery 34.10ºC; and at the point 2: 34.60 ºC, 34.91ºC and 34.19ºC in the same time intervals. In relation to the size of the breasts before operation and the size of the implant manufacturer, the localization of the incision and placement of the localization of the prosthesis, no statistically significant differences in the temperature of the skin of the breast before and after surgery was observed. Conclusion. Our results on the change of skin temperature after the breast augmentation could be significant preoperative information for the patients.

Background. Posttraumatic and postoperative defects of columella and the tip of the nose are difficult to reconstruct. There are several operative methods described in the literature, and many of them are step-by-step procedures with long duration. The aim of this study was to present one-step procedure for reconstruction of the columella and the tip of the nose with island-shaped arterial forehead flap. Case report. A 45-year old man was submitted to surgical excision of basocellular skin cancer. After the excision, a defect of the columella and tip of the nose the remained, 3 × 2.5 cm in dimensions, with exposed alar cartilages. During the same operation, the defect was covered with an island-shaped arterial forehead flap. Postoperative one-year course was uneventful, without signs of tumor recurrence after one year, and further surgical corrections were unnecessary. Conclusion. Considering the results of our operative technique, we believe that middle island-shaped forehead flap is suitable for reconstruction of the columella and the tip of the nose, due to the following reasons: safe vascularization of flap, similarity of the transferred tissue with the excised one, the procedure is completed in one step, simple surgical technique and uncomplicated healing of a flap-harvesting site.

Introduction. Coloboma is a Greek word, which describes the defect of all layers of the organ, and it can be congenital or as the result of an injury, operation, or some disease. Congenital upper eyelid coloboma is a rare anomaly, with the unknown incidence. The size of the defect is different, but it always involves all layers of the eyelid. This malformation is more frequent at the upper eyelid, and unilaterally, at the junction of the medial two thirds. Sometimes, it can also involve the eye, and may be a component of many syndromes (Goldenhar, Fraser, Manitoba, CHARGE, Cat eye). Case report. We are describing the case of the upper eyelid coloboma with the rare eyebrow anomaly at the three-month old girl, and the result of reconstruction. The baby was treated conservatively with lubricants and overnight patching. Pentagonal excision of the defect was performed in general anesthesia. Three layers of the eyelid were prepared: the skin, muscle and tarsoconjunctival layer. Because of orbicularis muscle malposition, reinsertion and reposition of the muscle fibres were performed. Then, lateral canthotomy was made and the suture of three layers of the eyelid. Catgut suture 7-0 was used for the conjunctiva and muscle. Nylon 6-0 was used for skin suture. Z-plasty was done on the upper part of the pentagonal excision in order to reduce skin tension at the suture line. The operation lasted about 60 minutes and the hospitalization three days. The occlusive dressing was applied for two days. The stitches were removed after seven days. The postoperative swelling of the upper and lower eyelid disappeared in five days. There were no complications in the postoperative period. Conclusion. The main principle of the treatment of eyelid coloboma is surgical reconstruction of all layers of the eyelid, in optimal period, using different surgical methods, which depends on the size of the defect. An early diagnosis is of the greatest importance, as well as the treatment of associated anomalies. Complications of the upper eyelid coloboma depend on the size of the defect, presence of the eye anomalies and the method of reconstruction.

Decubitus is damage to the skin and subcutaneous tissue that occurs as a result of excessive body position in a position where there is prolonged pressure in the anatomical structure of the body most exposed. Also, decubitus is a disease that is a consequence of poor care. Today there are two basic methods in the treatment of decubital ulceration - conservative treatment and active surgical treatment. Conservative treatment is a less invasive approach, which is characterized with debridement and necrectomy, with the use of appropriate medications for local treatment and wound dressing for the treatment of chronic wounds. Conservative treatment often requires more active treatment duration. Active surgical treatment is a method that is often characterized by active short time of treatment, but that depends on the general condition of the patient, postoperative course, and the need for more interventions, depending on the localization of pressure ulcers and surgical wounds healing time. Characteristics of pressure ulcers, general condition of the patient and patients willingness to accept the most appropriate method of treatment are the main factors in making decision which method is better to use.
