Painkiller (mis)use in sport presents a range of potential health risks to athletes (e.g., injury exacerbation). There is a lack of qualitative data examining the sociological genesis of variations in attitudes toward painkiller use. Focusing on the concept of physical capital, this article explores how attitudes toward painkiller use among professional cricket players in England are socialized by their workplace. Attitudes toward painkiller (mis)use stem from field-level structures that foster employment vulnerability, ensuring physical capital is precarious and legitimating painkiller (mis)use as a method of protecting economic opportunities with the added benefit of accruing symbolic capital by demonstrating toughness. The labor force, physical capital, and energy sources are key economic drivers that enhance the output levels of developing economies. Despite their significance, the impact of these factors on agricultural and industrial output in Pakistan remains underexplored. This study aims to address this gap by examining the effects of the labor force, physical capital, and energy consumption—including electricity, oil, and gas—on agricultural and industrial output. Additionally, we explore the combined effects of electricity and oil consumption on these sectors. Based on unit root test results, which indicate that the variables as either I(0) or I(1), the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) technique is selected. This method is particularly effective for handling mixed integration orders and provides robust estimates in small sample sizes, allowing for a thorough examination of both short- and long-run dynamics. Using annual time-series data from Pakistan for the period 1990–2022, the empirical results reveal that higher levels of the labor force, physical capital, electricity consumption, oil consumption, and gas consumption significantly increase agricultural and industrial output in both the short and long run. Furthermore, the findings reveal that the combined effect of electricity and oil consumption has a stronger impact on agricultural and industrial output compared to their individual effects. These results are further validated using alternative econometric techniques such as DOLS and FMOLS. To enhance Pakistan's agricultural and industrial performance, policies should prioritize investment in human capital and physical capital development, ensure reliable and efficient energy supplies, and promote integrated energy management strategies. This paper investigates the effects of migration on the export and production techniques of agri-industrial firms in the proximity of clusters of migrants. The analysis draws on an original dataset built through interviews conducted with agri-food firms in the Foggia province (southern Italy). Over the past two decades, this area has experienced a strong influx of migrants, who have concentrated in ghettos. The results do not support a pro-trade effect, but provide evidence for both a substitution and a complementarity effect of migrants on capital endowment, depending on the type of machinery used by the firm. Enhancing the sustainability of these livelihoods is crucial for ensuring food security and nutrition at both global and regional levels. This study investigates the role of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices in improving rural livelihoods in Latin America, specifically through the Climate Smart Village (CSV) approach. Methods: Our analysis involved a dataset of 267 households, comprising both adopters and non-adopters of CSA practices in CSVs across Guatemala, Honduras, and Colombia. We employed multiple correspondence analysis (MCA), Gower’s metric, agglomerative clustering, partitioning around medoids (PAM), and cluster validation. Our aim was to understand how CSA practices, which include the use of agroclimatic information, soil and water management practices, and risk diversification strategies, contribute to enhancing livelihoods. We examined this in the context of the five capitals (social, natural, physical, financial, and human) of the Sustainable Livelihoods Framework (SLF). Results: Our findings indicate that CSA farmers exhibit lower capital-based vulnerability compared to non-CSA farmers. This is particularly evident in the areas of social capital, as well as human and natural capital for certain CSA adopters. However, the similar performance in financial and physical capital between CSA and non-CSA farmers suggests the need for additional strategies to reduce vulnerability in these areas. We examined this through the Sustainable Livelihoods Framework (SLF), which includes five capitals: social, natural, physical, financial and human. In this paper we explore how 15-16-year-old Norwegians experience social and cultural norms that shape their relationship with health and physical activity (PA) in a country where participation in PA is normative, in the sense that it is not only a widely shared practice but, in having significant cultural traction, is commonly understood as a 'normal' part of Norwegian daily life. The study draws upon qualitative data generated from 31 focus groups involving 148 10th graders (15-16-year-olds) in eight secondary schools in Norway. A key finding was that health was primarily viewed as synonymous with physical health and physical health as closely related to PA. A symbolic marker for physical condition - and, by extension, physical health - was physical appearance and 'looks' (in other words, physical attractiveness), revolving around gender normative bodily 'shape'. In this vein, the youngsters tended towards individualistic views of health - seeing health as a responsibility that lay largely in their hands. We argue that the significance of growing up and living in a wealthy, social democratic nation-state, with high living standards and high social and cultural expectations, can have profound implications for youngsters' perceptions of health and PA, the impact of neoliberalism notwithstanding. Forests are increasingly recognized for their beneficial roles in human health. However, there is a debate on how forest health benefits can be accessed equitably, particularly by vulnerable forest-dependent rural communities in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Access to forest health benefits is determined by a range of interconnected means, including property rights, as well as natural, physical, human, social, and financial capital. This paper presents a literature review of the roles of means of access in shaping human health effects of forests. Evidence suggests that variations in these means of access are associated with varying ability to access forest health benefits. However, existing evidence is thin, mixed, and weak. A conceptual model is then developed to provide a framework for understanding how means of access moderate the effects of forests on health in rural LMICs to guide the generation of strong evidence. The multiple interconnected factors moderating the health effects of forests at the core of the conceptual framework promote the multisectoral and transdisciplinary approaches needed to enhance equitable access to forest health benefits. The current paper ascertains the effectiveness of exports, foreign direct investment (FDI), R&D, and human capital on total factor productivity (TFP) growth in Pakistan. The Tornqvist expression of TFP growth has been applied in the first stage, whereas ordinary least squares (OLS) have been used in the second stage to search for possible determinants of TFP, in the long run, using data from 1991 to 2021. According to the results, physical capital and human capital have emerged as the most contributory factors toward output growth in Pakistan. The positive contributions of TFP in the growth of output have been observed during 2001–2005 and 2016–2021. Further, TFP growth is observed to be positively correlated with growth in physical capital, human capital, and FDI. According to the empirical results, physical capital, labor, and human capital have emerged as highly significant determinants of TFP, whereas exports possess weak significance albeit having favorable signs. Contrary to the finding of other studies in many other countries, R&D and FDI have no significant impact on TFP in Pakistan, which is mainly due to the stagnant level of R&D and fluctuating FDI during recent years. Economic development is an important indicator demonstrating the increases in societies’ socioeconomic welfare levels. Countries need to advance in economic, social, cultural, and political domains in order to achieve economic development. From this aspect, Türkiye is far from having a developed country profile at this moment. Accordingly, the present study aims to assess Türkiye’s development issues. For this purpose, the effects of human capital, physical capital, and economic complexity index on economic growth in Türkiye are analyzed for the period 1970-2017 using the bootstrap Fourier Granger causality in quantiles (BFGC-Q) approach recently recommended by Cheng et al. (2021). The results of the analysis indicate that human capital, physical capital, and economic complexity index have a positive causal effect on economic growth. For sustainable development, Türkiye needs foreign capital investments in a stable economic model. Furthermore, it is recommended that Türkiye should pay importance to education, science, and technology at both theoretical and practical levels, and increase the value-added and technology level in exports by diversifying its high-tech product range.

Visiting Natural Green Spaces (NGS) is an important lifestyle factor that contributes to quality of life. Whilst NGS can be used to combat health issues, many of which are experienced by South Asian Muslim communities in the UK, it is concerning that such communities face the largest disparities in access to NGS compared to other ethnic minority groups. This paper responds to the paucity in research of South Asian people’s experiences of NGS. Data were generated through individual semi-structured interviews with 20 South Asian Muslim men and women. Using Bourdieu’s concepts of field, habitus and capital, data underwent thematic analysis. This paper reports on the key findings of the study: defining the field of NGS; enhancing wellbeing in NGS; and challenges of accessing NGS. The study concludes that we understand NGS as fields in which capital is shaped by race, religion and gender, and provides suggestions for how policy and practice can consider NGS in health enhancing interventions. We examine whether physical capital and/or human capital accumulation explain(s) unemployment disparities in fifteen Asia-Pacific economies over the years of 1991 to 2019, using the augmented distributed lag (DL) model and the cross-section augmented distributed lag (CS-DL) model. We find significantly positive and negative mean group estimates of human capital and physical capital accumulation on long-run unemployment rate, respectively. These findings are robust to both DL and CS-DL models and to the inclusion of productivity change. The present paper examines the determinants of ICT-enabled service trade, in particular, the relative importance of human and physical capital. The analysis is carried out for 45 major service trading countries as well as for separate country groups classified based on ICT-service trade balance. It is found that mobile connectivity, foreign investment, world demand, growing manufacturing sector, and more favourable business environment are important determinants of net ICT-enabled service exports. The result is in contrast with traditional services like travel and transportation. Broadband connection, as well as mobile, has a significant impact on net export of travel and transportation. Better human capital is favourable for services overall whereas, travel-transport sector engages low-skilled workers. The results have important policy implications for developing countries constrained by the availability of human and physical capital. The service sector, especially ICT-enabled services, can play a critical role in the post-pandemic recovery by generating employment opportunities and ensuring stable foreign exchange earnings. Though the impact of foreign aid on economic growth has been examined in several studies, the roles of human and physical capital in aid-growth nexus has not been investigated. This is important because the effectiveness of foreign aid could be contingent upon the absorption capacity of the recipient country. We fill this research gap by examining the moderating roles of human and physical capital on aid-growth nexus in Nigeria during 1980 to 2020. Our study deploys the Autoregressive Distributed Lag approach on the interaction models. It shows that the variables are cointegrated. Though aid has a positive impact on growth, human and physical capital have significant moderating roles on the impact of aid on growth. Precisely, the marginal effect of aid on growth varies with the levels of human and physical capital. However, if human and physical capital surpass the threshold levels of 55% and 65%, respectively, an increase in aid cannot accelerate growth. These findings are robust to alternative proxies, structural breaks as well as diagnostic tests. This research implies that, given the requisite levels of human and physical capital, foreign aid can complement domestic capital to enhance growth. Hence, for nations to obtain the long-term benefits of aid, they should create the enabling environment by adequately investing in human and physical capital to attain sustainable economic development. This research aims to reveal the relationships between intellectual capital components and firm performances of banks operating in the Borsa Istanbul financial sector. Within the scope of the research, the data of the banks whose shares were listed on the stock exchange between 2008 and 2021 and whose data were fully accessible as of the first quarter of 2023, when the research was conducted, were analyzed. The data set was prepared as panel data. Six models were developed and tested within the scope of the research. While investigating the interaction between variables, correlation and regression analyzes were applied. As a result of the analysis; While there was no relationship between structural capital (ROA), one of the components of intellectual capital ROE), and return on assets, it was found to have a negative and significant relationship with return on equity. Another important finding of the research is that physical capital, among the intellectual capital components, affects return on assets and return on equity the most. The other component of intellectual capital, human capital, also affects return on assets and return on equity significantly and positively. Revealing the effects of intellectual capital components on ROA and ROE from firm performances will be important for making future decisions for both bank managers and bank shareholders. Women entrepreneurs are promoted to adopt digital technology as a means of enhancing business performance. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the impact of human, social, financial, physical, and intellectual capital on digital technology adoption among women entrepreneurs. A quantitative method is used with an associative type across various business sectors in East Java Province, Indonesia. Furthermore, the sample is selected by purposive sampling with a total of 268 individuals. Data collection is carried out through a questionnaire, while the analysis is performed using PLS-SEM. The results show that human, financial, physical, and intellectual capital have a positive and significant influence on the adoption of digital technology among women entrepreneurs. However, only social capital reports an insignificant influence. Among the examined variables, intellectual capital plays the most crucial role in adopting digital technology. Data were collected for 16 developing countries over the period 2005–2018. An Arellano-Bover/Blundell-Bond dynamic panel estimation method was adopted to analyze the physical capital accumulation effect of foreign direct investments. Our analysis indicates that for every percentage increase in foreign direct investment inflows to developing countries, physical capital increases by 2.31 percent. In addition, a random-effect panel estimation was implemented to analyze the effect of foreign direct investments on human capital. For a one-percent increase in foreign direct investments, human capital increases by 2.38 percent. The results of our regressions show that not only the volume but also the type of foreign direct investment matters for capital formation in developing countries. Specifically, foreign direct investments in the secondary sector have a statistically significant positive effect on both physical and human capital. By contrast, foreign direct investments in the primary and tertiary sectors have a negligible effect. Our analysis suggests that developing countries would benefit from investing more resources in education and opening up their economies to attract foreign direct investments, particularly in the manufacturing sector. The transition to sustainable development remains an urgent task both at the national and regional levels. For the regions of the Far East in Russia this issue is of particular relevance due to the high amount of natural capital they have and the vulnerability of local ecosystems. In the article on the example of one of the regions of the Far East (Kamchatka Krai) possible directions for the transition to a model of sustainable and balanced development are identified. The purpose of this study is to evaluate alternatives for such a transition using simulation tools. In the course of the work a characteristic of the region was presented with the main components’ assessment of natural, human and physical capital. At the same time the definition of a complex regional balance is formulated as a regional projection of sustainability and a space of opportunities for the optimal use of all types of capital. The complex regional balance consists of ecologicaleconomic, ecological-social and socio-economic components. Based on the language of algorithmic networks, a simulation model complex for sustainable balanced development of the region has been developed, on which a series of experiments has been run. The results obtained make it possible to focus on the preferential development of human capital and on the support of innovation as the preferred option for the transition to a model of sustainability and integrated regional balance.

The shift to sustainable development on the global, national and regional level is still an acute objective of our time. Modernization of physical capital as a key aspect of this transformation is directly connected with innovation activity. The article analyzes the interconnection between basic indicators of physical capital and innovation activity in the Kamchatka territory. With the help of one- and multi-factor functions of influencing the innovation sphere the author identified availability or absence of dependence of innovation activity on factors of physical capital amount, investment volume and wound up financial result. The absence of noticeable link between the investment volume and innovation activity in the region was revealed, which shows the necessity to elaborate and apply extra measures aimed at physical capital modernization. The author put forward a number of tools to stimulate innovation activity in the region, among them organizational and economic, academic and methodological, information and analytical, marketing and customer’s and legal ones. It was shown that shaping the regional system ‘science-educationinnovation’ for the Kamchatka territory could give an opportunity to stimulate and support innovation activity in the region. The obtained results can be used for drawing up documents of strategic and program-targeted character aiming at building an innovation cluster in the region.

We present robust results on the impact of remittances on exports and economic growth for panel data sets of 38 high-income and 50 middle-income countries for 2000-2020. First, we estimate the impact of remittances on exports after controlling economic growth. By panel dynamic panel estimation, when regressing remittances on exports, remittances show an inverse U-shaped relationship with a threshold value of ln(12.63) for high-income and ln(15.66) middle-income countries above which exports begin to rise. Economic growth is showing a positive and significant impact on exports. Second, we estimate the impact of remittances and exports on economic growth after controlling various macro determinants of economic growth. On economic growth, remittances present a U-shaped relationship with threshold value ln (12.63) for higher income and ln(15.66) for lower-income countries above which economic growth starts to decline. Exports are showing a positive and significant effect on economic growth. A 100% increase in exports leads to a 15% and 12% increase in exports of high-income and middle-income countries. The other variables like physical capital per labour and human capital are showing a positive and significant impact on economic growth. Government expenditure has a negative coefficient, thus, it deteriorates economic growth.

In changing context of the present-day world, trade openness has a crucial role to play in economic development of different countries. Besides other factors, institutional quality plays a vibrant role in achieving a high growth rate. The objective of the present study is to understand how institutional quality influences economic growth and trade openness in India. To achieve the objectives of the study, Autoregressive Distributed Lag bound testing approach has been used. The findings show that there exists long-run relationship between the variables used in this study. From the findings, it can be concluded that total trade has a negative impact, whereas export enhances economic growth in the country. The results also show that improvement in institutional quality has a positive impact on economic growth. Thus the findings suggest that the country needs to adopt policies that can improve the quality of institutions and can enhance the formation of physical and human capital.

Digital transformation goes beyond digitalization to make radical changes to organisational models and social structures. It takes people with knowledge, skills and motivation to use ICTs to be able to carry out digital transformation. Human capital is seen to be the key for effective digital transformation as it can fuel sustainable development when people use ICTs to lead the lives they choose to live. Unless there is a transformation in capabilities, access to ICTs, requisite skills and knowledge, then digital transformation will merely exacerbate existing inequalities. It will need to touch personal psychology: not merely enabling the marginalised to participate but offering them the ability use digitalization to improve their lives. The human capital key to digital transformation is offered as a means of attaining positive cycles of sustainable development. This research work examines the impacts of foreign aids and human capital on economic growth of African oil and non-oil producing countries. Adopting the time series data from 2000 to 2021, the study employs Westerlund Error Correction Based panel cointegration test to investigate the impacts of Physical Capital (FA, GCF, FDI), Human Capital (EDU, HLT) and Policy Variables (REV, EXR) on Gross Domestic Product growth rate (GDPgr). Findings from results of the study affirms that there is a long-term co-movement between the GDPgr and the explanatory variables (FA, GCF, FDI, EDU, HLT, REV, EXR) of both African oil and non-oil producing countries. The study also reveals that foreign aids are better effectively put into use in the African non-oil producing countries than in the oil producing countries. Findings in the study equally confirm that financial resources in the African nonoil producing countries are better efficiently spent on human capital and domestic investment than in the African oil producing countries. The study further shows that revenue generation and foreign exchange earnings stimulate growth better in the African oil producing countries than the non-oil countries counterparts in Africa. The agricultural sector in Iran, like other developing countries, is important in several ways. This sector accounts for a significant share of the country's economy and accounts for a much larger share of labor employment. Hence, the added value and welfare created per capita of labor in this sector is less than other sectors. In this regard, it is necessary to upgrade its production capacity and create added value. In this study, an attempt is made to measure the effect of various factors on the value added of the agricultural sector during the period 1967-2017 using the production function method and the ARDL model. The results showed that in the long run, for one percent increase in physical capital, natural resources, human capital and knowledge and technology, the value added of the agricultural sector will increase by 0.44, 0.20, 0.75 and 0.12 percent, respectively. Due to the declining trend of increase in physical capital, the necessary policies should be adopted to enhance investment. This study analyzes the market value of listed companies in Mainland China across different industries, including capital-intensive, labor-intensive, technology-intensive, and other industries. A generalized neoclassical investment model that considers physical capital, labor, and knowledge capital as input variables is built to theoretically decompose firm value. The empirical results indicate that knowledge capital accounts for an increasing proportion of the market value of companies, rising sharply from 21.5% in 2009 to 37.9% in 2018. In contrast, the share of labor in enterprise market value has been decreasing year by year, dropping from 56.5% in 2009 to 36.4% in 2018. The share of physical capital in enterprise market value remains relatively stable. Based on these findings, the study simulates the optimal investment behaviors and their influence on the firm value of various types of enterprises, providing valuable insights for investment decision-making for managers in different industries. Objectives: Following global trends, drug policy in Taiwan has shifted from goals of imprisonment and recidivism prevention to fostering a friendly medical environment and offering interdisciplinary addiction treatment and comprehensive social support networks to enable drug users to return to normal lives. This study investigated factors associated with the quality of life (QOL) of adults who use drugs. Methods: Using a structured questionnaire, this study investigated 380 individuals aged 20 years with experience of drug use through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the World Health Organization Quality Of Life ScaleBREF (Taiwan) to investigate the impacts of traumatic experiences and physical capital on QOL, and hierarchical regression was conducted. Results: Traumatic experiences and physical capital exhibited significant predictive power (35%–38%) for subcategories of QOL. Higher trauma experience scores were associated with lower QOL subcategory scores. BACKGROUND: Strengthening disaster resilience is important to protect existing development and in anticipation of various disasters and risks due to disasters such as the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to determine resilience among individuals in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia based on the capital domains. METHODS: This study used a cross-sectional design with 97 Indonesian people and was conducted using an online survey in May-December 2020. Data were analysed using multivariable logistic regression. RESULT: The results showed that 45.36% of the respondents had low resilience. Respondents whose expenses increased had 6.36 times higher odds of good resilience compared to respondents whose expenses decreased (AOR=6.36,95%CI=1.26-32, p=0.025). Respondents whose expenses were not affected had 12.32 times higher odds of having good resilience than respondents whose expenses were reduced (AOR=12.32,95%CI=1.82-83.40, p=0.01). Respondents with larger families had 32% lower odds of having good resilience than those with fewer family members (AOR=0.68, 95%CI=0.47-0.98, p=0.038). Respondents with no quarantine facilities had 65% lower odds of good resilience than those with quarantine facilities (AOR=0.35, 95%CI 0.13-0.95, p=0.04). CONCLUSION: Economic and physical capital as the part of capital domains showed a significant association with resilience during COVID-19 pandemics. Economic capital variables that had association with resilience were money expenses and the number of family members in household. Physical capital had a relationship with resilience were the availability of quarantine facilities. Government could encourage cooperation within the community to share economic resources. The increasing number of businesses closing down and the persistent slow growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) within the manufacturing sector is a serious concern globally, including in South Africa. The SMEs that are currently existing are operating below the required efficiency level. Physical and technological capital efficiency integrating manufacturing systematic planning, work study, standardisation and inventory management to improve the profit of SMEs in Gauteng South Africa is inadequate, which is a major concern. This study aimed to explore the physical and technological capital constraints affecting SMEs' profit growth and develop the physical and technological capital efficiency adoption model merging manufacturing systematic planning, work study, standardisation and inventory management for SME profit growth in Gauteng. The study was qualitative, exploratory and descriptive in nature. Face-to-face interviews were conducted targeting 15 owners/managers amongst SMEs in Gauteng. The findings show the most common causes of slow profit growth, which involve poor material handling, unfavourable workplace layout, unscheduled machine maintenance, network challenges, failure to adhere to workplace standards, insufficient product and material recording systems and poor work methods and procedures. The study revealed major concerns for SMEs that required intervention for these enterprises to sustain their profit growth. Thus, the adoption of the model concerning the incorporation of physical and technological capital efficiency tools to advance manufacturing operations be considered as the contributing insight into the profit growth of SMEs in Gauteng. In changing context of the present-day world, trade openness has a crucial role to play in economic development of different countries. Besides other factors, institutional quality plays a vibrant role in achieving a high growth rate. The objective of the present study is to understand how institutional quality influences economic growth and trade openness in India. To achieve the objectives of the study, Autoregressive Distributed Lag bound testing approach has been used. The findings show that there exists long-run relationship between the variables used in this study. From the findings, it can be concluded that total trade has a negative impact, whereas export enhances economic growth in the country. The results also show that improvement in institutional quality has a positive impact on economic growth. Thus the findings suggest that the country needs to adopt policies that can improve the quality of institutions and can enhance the formation of physical and human capital. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This conceptual article advances the value of Bourdieu's practice theory and physical capital as a tool to understand the various types of painkiller (mis)use in sport. Consuming painkillers to manage injury and fatigue is a common practice among male professional footballers and misuse can exacerbate existing injuries and contribute to chronic physical and mental health conditions. In order to highlight the interaction between micro and macro-level factors we conceptualise painkiller use in professional football as a relational process between habitus, capital, and field position wherein variation in use is a result of social trajectory and field experiences. The analysis elaborates upon Bourdieu's practice theory in sport. It shows that the importance of protecting physical capital stems from internalised dispositions about how the body is viewed, which legitimise the use of painkillers within the social field of football despite the damaging potential outcomes for players. The article extends Bourdieu's practice theory to managing painkiller (mis)use, provides recommendations towards a future research programme, and identifies potential interventions for improving athlete welfare. Entrepreneurship is an important means of economic development. Rural migrant workers returning home to start their own businesses can promote employment, alleviate poverty, and achieve rural development structural transformation of rural development. The entrepreneurial effect of rural return migrants is important for rural economic development. Using the data of the China Labor Force Dynamics Survey (CLDS thereafter) 2018 and China Household Finance Survey (CHFS thereafter) 2019, we analyze the entrepreneurial effects of return migrants upon their return to their hometowns. We construct a career choice model and build a mathematical model based on it to formulate the hypothesis. Then, we use the Probit regression model to test the hypothesis empirically. Results find that the rural return migrants can promote entrepreneurship among residents. Land circulation, human capital, and physical capital are stimulating factors in promoting the rural entrepreneurial activities of return migrants. We recommend that the government actively guide the rural return migrants to start businesses and provide security for entrepreneurial activities by upgrading various entrepreneurial elements. The main objective of the present study is to examine the link between trade openness, capital formation, and economic growth in the case of India by applying an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) bound testing approach. To achieve this objective, the trade openness index is developed using various proxies of trade openness. The empirical results indicate negative relation between trade openness and economic growth in case of India, both in the short-run and long-run. The results of the present study have important policy implications for India. Among others, the study suggests that those policies need to be adopted, which can boost human and physical capital formation so that economy can grow to the threshold level required to reap the benefits of trade openness.

This study aims to analyze whether economic growth in Indonesia is driven by physical or human capital using panel data analysis consisting of all provinces over the last nine years. The estimation results show that the Indonesian economy is more likely to be driven by physical than human capital. The formation of human capital that has a significant positive effect on economic growth is health. However, the education variable represented by the mean years schooling has no significant effect on economic growth when including the control variable in the research model. To improve the quality of education, the state requires the government to provide substantial educational spending. However, the budget has not been used optimally so that the expected achievements of graduates are not achieved. In addition, education spending has not met the criteria for quality spending. In contrast to education spending, an increase in health spending will increase economic growth by improving the quality of health and life expectancy. A healthier society will have a high level of productivity that impacts the regional and national economy.

This study analyzes the market value of listed companies in Mainland China across different industries, including capital-intensive, labor-intensive, technology-intensive, and other industries. A generalized neoclassical investment model that considers physical capital, labor, and knowledge capital as input variables is built to theoretically decompose firm value. The empirical results indicate that knowledge capital accounts for an increasing proportion of the market value of companies, rising sharply from 21.5% in 2009 to 37.9% in 2018. In contrast, the share of labor in enterprise market value has been decreasing year by year, dropping from 56.5% in 2009 to 36.4% in 2018. The share of physical capital in enterprise market value remains relatively stable. Based on these findings, the study simulates the optimal investment behaviors and their influence on the firm value of various types of enterprises, providing valuable insights for investment decision-making for managers in different industries.
